Delays seem to be the unfortunate norm these days, but Allegiant's website and at airport crew Do Not keep you updated!
Plane supposed to leave FLL to TYS at 530p. There was 2nd flight scheduled for 830p. Flight 973 delayed until 9p. No explanations given. Flight did not start boarding until 920p. We didn't leave FLL until 10p. The other flight, the one at 830p was on time and arrived on time. I want an explanation for why flight 973 was delayed and why the delay was delayed from 920 to 10p before leaving FLL. I was at the airport waiting for my flight for over 8hrs. My flight was delayed 4-1/2 hrs, 530-10p. I want an explanation and I want some sort of compensation for such poor service. I didn't arrive in Knoxville until after MIDNIGHT Sun Aug 31st. I had to arrange for transportation home from the airport as my flight was delayed and delayed again and they had no idea when I would actually arrive. Isn't it a law that requires a passenger be compensated if their flight is >4 hours delayed? Allegiant apparently thinks they have no responsibility to give any reasons for their flight delays. We're just supposed to take it and like it. I requested seat on 830p flight and was told there were no available seats. Allegiant personnel was zero help from check in to crew on plane and again on ground in Knoxville. Useless is the word I would use.

Cons: "The seats are pretty uncomfortable. They are so close together and there is no room to store anything. The tray tables are a joke, you can't even fit an iPad on them. The bag check process was trouble at both legs. They have lower weight limits than the major carriers and that really should be highlighted better when you book with Allegiant. Also, bag checkin for the flight I was on started at 7:45am. There were only 2 people at the checkin counter and one of them was busy doing something and ignoring the customers. So that was a little annoying."

Cons: "It was myself, my wife, and our 18 month old son. The trip was a complete disaster. The first delay was from 12 noon to 7:30 pm because the plane was unavailable. We left the airport and returned at 6 pm for the 7:30 pm departure. The plane was "available." We checked our bags, found our way to the gate, and eventually boarded "ontime." Instead of taking off, however, we sat on board the plane at the gate for 2 hours as work was being done. The work was first called "maintenance," then "a small error code." The captain teased us by saying "folks, just a few more minutes and we should be departing." The crew nourished us with a dixie sized cups of water and Chex mix. Then finally the airline gave up and deplaned everyone. Once deplaned, it was explained to us that they couldn't clear the error code, so they couldn't use that plane. But there was another plane coming from Las Vegas to use so that we could expect a departure around 12 midnight. 12 midnight rolls around. Nothing. 12:30 am. 1 am. Finally, a plane arrives. But then the airline holds us up yet again - turns out we can't depart after all because the arriving airport shuts down at 2 am. Gee, they didn't know that before making us wait another 3 hours??? Now they're offering a refund to anybody who wants one, as well as a hotel for the night and the promise of a flight at 2:30 pm the following day. At this point, many of us are looking up alternative flights to Eugene and even Portland. A $1,000 extra for us. We're not sure whether we can trust Allegiant to have an actual plane ready to go the next day. And we're too tired at that point to even ask why the next flight would be at 2:30 pm rather than first thing in the morning. So finally we line up to get a hotel voucher and find our way to the hotel. It takes over an hour to checkin at the hotel because it's the middle of the night and 150 people just showed up to checkin. We finally get to our room at about 3:30 am. I'm amazed at how well our toddler held up sitting on an airplane for 2 hours, sitting at the airport for about 6 hours, and waiting to fall asleep all night. We eventually made it back to the airport the following afternoon and, praise the lord, made it to our destination. Allegiant - NEVER AGAIN!"

We wound up taking a tram to another terminal, found out that we were in the wrong place, and then made it back just in time to board with a few minutes to spare. Since we were traveling with only a carry on, it was a good price after all the "frills" were added (pay for carry on, pay to select seat). we still had a price lower than any other airline. So all in all, once we got on the plane it was a pleasant experience."

Typically Allegiant flight attendants aren't as happy as Southwest but they're at least cordial. This crew we're just unhappy, snippy, a little unprofessional (saying huh or what instead of excuse me. Pointing people to things instead of getting it for them or walking them to it) and at one point one stewardess was just rude to a passenger."

The ground crew in Las Vegas were extremely rude. Yelling at passengers. 2 hour delay. The worst flight experience I have ever had.
Frontier shut out my children and I from the gate with more than 10-minutes left before the gate shut. No one was there to help us. This resulted in a last minute purchase on a competing airline for over $1,200. Done flying Frontier.

After my experience on the first flight it didn't exactly surprise me that they were going to charge me to carry on my bag, But it was more expensive to carry it on than to check it! The bottom line is that this is the last time I fly Frontier, and the last time I book using Kayak."

Otherwise, there is a fee. Seats and plane were very clean. Just plan accordingly and then go and enjoy your AFFORDABLE Bus ride in the Sky!"

Cons: "Having to pay $40 per carry-on each way on top of an expensive ticket and $16 each way to select a seat is ridiculous. Not to mention having to pay for food, even little snacks, on board. I understand that the crew have very little time to clean a plane between flights, but I've never experienced seats quite as bad as I found in my row upon boarding. Little bits of corn chips everywhere (on the seats, between the seats, on the floor, even in the seat belt buckle) and sticky mess where soda had spilled on the seat. My girlfriend fought her way back to the front of the plane to ask a flight attendant for something to clean up the mess, they took so long bringing anything eventually another passenger offered some napkins which we wetted with our own water and cleaned everything up ourselves. No flight attendant ever checked on us or offered to help clean or even pick up the pile of trash. The seats are not comfortable for me since they don't recline and the headrest is not adjustable (I'm 6'-2", the headrest makes contact with the top of my neck). The little fold-down tray is a joke, it barely holds a couple beverages. Even the back of seat storage is too small, barely holding a normal magazine. Whoever designed the seating area didn't seem to take into account human physiology and ergonomics or human behavior."

Any passenger that approached them was treated poorly. The airplane floor and seats were dirty upon arrival. As with any low budget airline, the seats were uncomfortable and there were no entertainment options. Check in was a nightmare with insane lines and passengers barely getting their bags and check-in figured out before rushing to the gate. Recommend arriving three hours early if you don't want to wonder if you're about to miss your flight through the checkin and bag drop process."

Cons: "*Check-in luggage was $50 extra each way, so any relative discount in the price disappeared. *I couldn't pick my seat without a $10 fee. *Painfully loud intercom. *Being 5' 11", my seat was the most uncomfortable I've ever ridden in: Cramped with my knees touching the seat in front of me, no reclining option, and brushing shoulders with the passenger at my side the whole time. By the time the flight finished, my back and neck felt like a human origami experiment."

The next day, I arrive at the airport and it's canceled again! This time they don't pretend; it was due to lack of crew members. Furious, I booked with Southwest and got home. At the gate, I spent around 35 minutes on hold and then another 25 on the phone to get a partial refund. This was by far the worst experience I have had with any airline ever."

Cons: "To start, I wasn't able to print a boarding pass onlinex for a short domestic flight, I usually don't prepare until the day of, so the fact that I even followed their directions to check in 24-1 hour before my flight seemed not too matter. After three successive attempts in different browsers, the website told me I would need to print my boarding pass at the terminal. Add this to the fact that my flight was during rush hour trafffic, and I needed to speed to get to the airport. This was both stressful and a nuisance. Spirit charged me $100 total for a single carry-on bag. Add that to the price of the ticket and it was just as much to fly to Oakland as a similar flight to San Francisco on another carrier. The staff was courteous, but could barely manage the crowd through all of the delays. An hour long flight was delay over an hour defeating the purpose of flying with Spirit. The seats are very tiny, and I am not even that tall (5' 11"). The seats also don't decline. Would never fly Spirit again. This is the first and last time I do so."

Cons: "I'm still at the airport waiting for this flight. It's been delayed nearly 2 hours. Spirit should refund this flight to me. It would cost about $80 to refund my seat and my girlfriend's seat for the ridiculous delay. But it would keep us as loyal customers. I'm sure the CACis normally much higher than that."
Cons: "The tickets were not specific about cabin luggage size. I had to spend an additional 100$ to place my luggage under the plan. I felt like I was in a luggage transport plane with seats. Definitely Kmart class transportation."

Pros: "we flew from oakland to ohare for the first time on Spirit airlines and we were very impressed. We left on time - or even a minute or two early - and landed safely. what more could we ask? The staff was friendly and the plane was clean. two thumbs up!"

Pros: "Customer service in Manila speaks with heavy accent talks so loud. Do not undestand what they are saying. Then they became rude, asked for supervisor, they refused. Oversea customer service may be cheaper labor for the co, your customers have hard time understanding them. How can we use spirit? My mother handicapped senior ended up missing the flight because customers service put on a hold for 75 minutes. I called them to speak to a manager refused first time then put me on hold for an hour. I will put this terrible process experience on google, so people should, must know especially if this is concerning children or elderly seniors. The higher management should acknowledge and be accountable for people suffer great deal."
Pros: "This ticket was inexpensive and got the job done. My flights were on time and smooth. The airline is clearly a discount airline. Extra charges for luggage and snacks, which, if you've traveled before, are easily avoidable. I can't believe people are complaining about crowded seats and extra charges, as if other airlines aren't doing the same things... If you want a first class traveling experience, pay four times more on a different airline. The flight attendants were perfectly polite and friendly. While Spirit isn't my airline of choice, I would fly with them again."
Cons: "TSA made me go back to the ticket counter to get a printed boarding pass, because a digital copy was insufficient. Hopefully Spirit will be able to send digital boarding passes soon."
Cons: "Rude employees, incompetent staff. Outrageous hidden fees. First time I flew spirit they cancelled my connecting flight, escorted me out of the terminal, stood in line for 3 hours to be rescheduled to a flight the following day. They put me in a hotel an hour away with a shuttle that ran every 2 hours so I was able to sleep for 3 hours. Second experience... 5 hour delay from 730p to 12:30p departure. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Never booking spirit again. Absolute garbage airline."
Pros: "It was my first time flying and I had no problems with boarding or late flights. Everything went smooth and I had a great experience for my first flight. I would take Sprit again if I could fit all my items in my personal carry on that is free of charge. If I need to pay for any other carry on or check in bags I might want to check out a different airline. Overall great experience. Seats had a lot of room and the plane was pretty clean."

Cons: "If you have a bag bigger than a hang purse, they're going to charge you for it (including normal roll carry ons). Cheapest if you buy online beforehand, $55 at check in counter, or $100 at the gate, so plan ahead! No drinks served in flight. Seats look old and kinda dirty."
