Cons: "Avianca overbooked the flight by 10 passengers. They would not board the flight until they got 10 volunteers to except only $240 voucher for delaying their flight by one day. It took them three hours to accomplish that. The hot food had been delivered on time to the plane, so that also sat for three hours. By the time it was served during the flight it had turned to rubber. This was all together a dreadful experience. We missed our connecting flight in Los Angeles and Avianca airlines provided no help on that. ."

Pros: "Before our flight, several people were called to the check-in desk. These were obviously frequent flyers because later we saw these individuals sitting in Executive Class. Felt a little jealous, because I'm not a frequent flyer, but it was nice to see how Avianca takes care of its regular customers. Everything about the flight was first class, even if I was sitting in coach. The staff were friendly and helpful, the plane was comfortable--a 787, everyone's favorite--and the food was actually very tasty: chicken breast with a delicious green curry/salsa, some rice, green salad. Water and juices were available in the aft galley in between the meal and light snack before arrival. The entertainment offerings were terrific. If I hadn't had such great traveling companions to chat with, I would have caught up on some new releases I had missed, or one of the classics--"Singing in the Rain," "Citizen Kane," and much more. I don't know how you could improve the customer experience. Great job, Avianca!"

We did good timing, but I do need to add that avianca has never been late to a fly I have taken, always on time. Food has changed, it used to be better and more generous but food in general on a plane these days is not the reason why you would enjoy flying."

Taca took the prices to the ceiling and it was a shame to pay 900.00dls for a trip to El Salvador.to make it worst they threw peanuts and soda y our trays, which was poor second class service. Cons: "After arriving in San Salvador from San Jose, another passenger informed us that there was a flight departing for LAX at around 3:30 PM. Considering that our flight was scheduled to depart at 7:25 PM, we decided to ask the customer representative at the Avianca information desk if there were any open seats available on our flight home to LAX. She informed us that there were open seats BUT we would have to pay an extra $200 to board that flight. I have been on other airlines before and they have offered me the option to get on an earlier flight - FREE OF CHARGE. Considering I had bought my complete, round trip ticket for $435, the idea of paying an extra $200 for one leg of my journey seemed ludicrous! So I stayed the 6+ hours in El Salvador. Fast forward 6 hours and the desk agent at our gate announces that our flight is completely booked and they are offering $300 for anyone who will give up their seats. I am PISSED. Avianca knew our flight was overbooked and had the opportunity to take two passengers off the list and free up seats for the next flight! Instead, they chose to make us wait and delayed our flight. I do not understand Avianca's customer service procedures. Why would you not put my friend and I on the next flight when you know the next flight is going to be overbooked and possibly delayed? I'll I know is that if I can avoid flying with Avianca in the future, I will do it."

Cons: "I bought a duty-free bag at the Colombian airport specifically for storing liquids (namely two bottles of alcohol) and was told this was standard procedure. The bag was not to be opened until my final destination (Los Angeles). Long story short, when I arrive at the Panama airport they insist that they are going to have to throw the alcohol away despite the fact that I bought it in a duty-free zone at another airport and had not left said zone in this airport. It was also obvious the alcohol had not been tampered with as the bag I purchased was sealed tightly (some sort of glue). I had to take my son's personal carry-on (a backpack), take all of his things out of it, and check the bag as checked-in luggage. The Panaminian airport staff claimed I would still have issues in Los Angeles. They were completely wrong - no officer made any sort of comment about it since the alcohol was still in the sealed bag with a notice that said it would not be opened until the final destination. Incredibly unprofessional behavior."

According to Latam, Virgin changed my flight and forgot to rebook my return home. I ended up sleeping at the Lima airport, paying out of pocket almost $2000 and having to fly through Miami. No one took responsibility for the fact my ticket was changed and I wasn't informed - unacceptable."

Then I go running around looking for an agent. I find one and she says you missed your flight. I told her I still have 45 minutes to make it, and she rudely just tells me to get in another line to pay for a new ticket. LUCKILY someone in the priority line saw I was having a problem, a customer not an agent, and she told me to try to talk to someone on her side. After 3 agents told me no one finally told me yes. I made my flight but just by a hair. If the agents would have been around to help or been willing to help me from the moment I spoke to them this would not have been a problem. Thanks for almost ruining Christmas for me. When I spoke to others everyone told me they always have issues with AA. Will never fly AA again."

We waited in line for over two hours for hotel vouchers that they did not have. We paid for own our room and returned at 11am as instructed, but the plane needed a part that had to be shipped from the U.S. which pushed our scheduled departure from 2pm to at least 9pm. My family grabbed a bus to Narita for a 6:30pm flight. C'MON AMERICAN AIRLINES! COULD YOU SERIOUSLY NOT GET ANOTHER PLANE TO HANEDA?? OR AT LEAST PAY FOR OUR HOTEL?? The ground crew at Haneda was very kind but overwhelmed. Terrible experience. And it's the reason I don't fly American. In fact, KAYAK, I booked our flights on JAL intentionally to avoid American. The fact that these were partner flights on American completely and unpleasantly surprised me...also not a good experience."
