India has restricted entry to most foreign travelers until at least November 30. However, certain eligible foreign nationals are able to travel to India via Vande Bharat flights or third country flights.
Certain categories of Indian nationals and residents may enter the country on repatriation flights arranged by Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Other exceptions exist for air cargo flights that carry goods for trade or essential goods and supplies, and their crew members, helpers, cleaners, etc. Travelers with an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card or booklet are eligible to enter the country, as are their minor children and spouses, or students attending an Indian institution, if one of the parents is a national of India or OCI card holder. Travelers may transit through India from a neighboring country if traveling via India to their country of residence.
The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has issued new guidelines permitting certain categories of foreign nationals to travel to India on business. However it will require them to first obtain a fresh business or employment visa. For information categories and process, visit the Indian Bureau of Immigration website.
Travelers may apply for an exemption from quarantine; to do so, they will need to apply using the self-reporting form and attach a negative PCR test result.
All travelers must visit the New Delhi Airport website and submit a self-declaration form at least 72 hours prior to departure.
All travelers will undergo a thermal screening on arrival and are required to undergo mandatory quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in India. They may be required to provide contact details and be asked to download the Arogya Setu app.

The plane, a massive 787 jet, absorbed the turbulence like it was nothing. It was like riding in one of those Cadillacs from the 1970's. The lavatories were big enough that I could actually stand up straight (and I'm 6'0"). The seats were pretty good as well - they had a feature for extension of the seating surface to allow for more thigh support (which I love) as well as great lumbar support. the movie selection was OK - neither great nor bad, and I ended up watching 4 movies during the flight anyway. ;)"
Cons: "I preface this section by saying that I'm being very nit-picky here - there's not much I can really say, except that the seats, while they will recline to a flat surface, which is great for dozing off, they are angled about 15 degrees so you're constantly sliding down them in that position. Also, there could be more support for your head in the reclined position - I had to futz with pillows and a blanket to get that comfortable. However, the reclined position was the most comfortable, and I could get it so that I was sufficiently reclined with my legs extended and horizontal, while laying back without sliding down. This was sufficient for resting. I'm only mentioning this because I flew a business class flight on Delta in 2015 which had ridiculously amazing seats that reclined all the way flat and horizontal. On the 9-11 hour flight from Tokyo back to San Diego, which will take place mainly at night, this would be a very useful feature."

The courtesy packets had many useful items including eye refreshers, lip balm, and the bathrooms were kept very clean and stocked with both mouthwash and toothbrush/paste. All together as flawless and comfortable an experience as possible on a commercial carrier."

Departing from San Diego, this was only an option once a year I was told at the check in counter. I was counting on extra width and legroom as I am 270 lbs and 73" tall. I was disappointed that these up-gradable seats were not available. I also did not like that we sat on the Oksaka tarmac at a divert airport from Narita (Tokyo) and were not given an option to leave the plane and find alternate transportation of our choice to get us to our destination. I understand the high winds and bad weather was not allowing us to land on time, but we sat on the tarmac for 2 1/2 hours and then left to fly into Narita 5 hours late."

Here is a list - * I was able to check-in online but my husband was not and kept receiving error messages (no big deal) * Upon arrival at the check-in counter, the line was incredibly long. I understand this happens but of the employees working, only 2 were checking in bags and 3 others were just standing there chatting and talking into walky talkies. * Flight from Rome to Heathrow was late for no apparent reason, landed 45 minutes prior to our connection flight. I inquired with our flight attendant about the potential to make boarding and he said they would let us know. We landed on the tarmac and had to be bussed to the terminal. Not once after we landed did the flight crew mention one word about connecting flights. Never have I had that experience in 44 years. Additionally, there was no direction regarding priority for boarding the busses. When we finally entered the terminal, an airline employee displayed a sign calling for passengers connecting on a flight to San Diego which was taking off just 10 minutes after ours to San Jose. A choice few of these folks were driven over to their boarding gate while many of us were left behind. * When we made it the recommended "Fastrack Express" the attendant informed us that we had already been cancelled out of our connecting flight to San Jose (this was 30 minutes before take off)! We were directed to go wait in line to re-book our flights. * After an hour in line we learned that the couple behind us had already been re-booked onto that evening flight to SJ, which would have been the next out. I wonder how that happens when you are further behind in line? After waiting 4.5 hours in line. We were told that and approximately 3 other convenient flights which would have been a possibility were no longer available since we had been made to wait for so long. There were no places to sit, no numbering system, we did not eat at all that day until 11pm and that was after waiting another 45 minutes to get our passports stamped and then stupid bus ride. *We were forced to miss hosting my best friend's baby shower the next morning. We were sent on an hour long bus trip to another airport in Gatwick to sleep in a hotel for 6 hours and then return bus trip back to Heathrow only to fly into an airport which is an hour away from our home as as opposed to 10 minutes. *Not once in all that time did a manager come out and let customers know the cause of the inconvenience. The window service to re-book was haughty and entitled, rather than thoughtful and efficient. I was insulted by the lack of customer service, the shoddy organization, communication and lack common sense. The only saving grace was that they booked us on a different airline for our return flight where we received decent service. We incurred extra charges due to the change in arrival location - all around failure on British Airways. Not happy at all."

I will never, ever, fly AA again. Worst customer service and tons of issues with maintenance, luggage handling, and delays."

We would up losing good money since we were traveling as a family with kids. The silver lining is we flew Emirates which we should have chosen from the very beginning."

I just couldn't believe that in 2017 there are allowed airplanes in such poor condition in the air. Also, I was traveling with 2 children and the airline didn't accommodate me at all. Many seats were empty and they put me in a full row. I had to sit on the floor for 8 hours so my children could stretch and sleep and the fly attendant didn't even bother to ask how I was doing but they would frequently bumped into my children's feet in the aisle. Also, a passenger's seat behind me fell apart. I could write an essay about this airline. Never again!"

Cons: "Most uncomfortable flight I can remember in last couple years. My knees were squeezed into the seat in front, and when they reclined, the seat was like 1.5 cellphone lengths from my face. The particular route from SD to Toronto squeezes 15 more seats on this popular plane, making it the least knee room I can remember. I wouldnt say Air Canada has less legroom as a generalization, but this route and plane assigned has the least. I guess if you're taller, do a little research on the planes for your routes. No actual wi-fi was kind of annoying. You can access some content, but no real internet connection."

The service by ground staff on both sides was excellent, The staff on board was helpful, efficient and very polite. Cons: "When you roll up on clerk at the check-in counter and she's already eyeing your carry-on bag you know you're gonna have a problem. My bag was purchased a month ago and I made sure it met all major airline specs so when she immediately told me I'd have to check it, I told her it would fit no problem in her little mold. She insisted that it would not and I'd have to PAY to check it. I picked it up and easily popped it into the mould but my zipper snagged on the way in and she said that I was not allowed to "force" it in. I then easily lifted it in and out twice without the zipper snagging. Then she insisted that I weigh it. 22lbs is not much at all so I figured I might get caught here but to my surprise I was only at 23lbs. So she immediately said I would have to pay because I was over weight.... BY 1 LB! So I opened my bag and took out bag of carrots and put it back on the scale. She was so pissed that she couldn't charge me anything that she never made eye contact for the rest of the process. She then said that because I had my cat with me I could not sit in the row I had booked because it was an exit row. I insisted that it was not an exit row as I had just flown on the plane four days earlier with my cat in the same seat. She refused and moved me to a row with less leg room despite my having paid for the upgraded seat (I'm 6'4"). Upon boarding, I confirmed with the flight attendant that my original row was NOT an exit row. It was behind the exit row and there are no restrictions for that. One terrible staff member is all it takes to ruin a flight. Air Canada Rouge also happens to be a soda can with wings so that doesn't help."

Forced me to pay out of pocket for food, taxis, transfers and my own hotel choice. Staff were so rude. No explanation to why they removed my bags. I made it in plenty of time for my connecting flight but airline had just decided. No staff member was interested in answering my questions or helping. They all just wanted to sod off home. they just didn't care."

Cons: "The flight attendants were inconsiderate of the wishes and comfort of the passengers. Food and drink were offered for sale in tourist class shortly after takeoff in the morning. Since I had just had breakfast, I asked if the food and drinks would be available later. The answer was probably not, which indeed was the case. This was on a five hour flight. When I did want food and drink, I had to go to the attendant at the back of the plane. I was able to have a drink delivered to purchase a drink, but the one food item I wanted was not in stock. (This was from the beginning, and was also the case on the outgoing flight a week earlier. I was informed that I could not use my noise cancelling headphones, designed and purchased largely for flying during takeoff and landing, but had to use ear buds, which I did not have, do not like, and as a senior with hearing aids find uncomfortable. Thus, I missed the benefit of their noise cancelling feature and much of the movie I was enjoying. On the earlier flight, one of the two toilets was unavailable, causing long waits, but the attendant in the front of the plane refused to allow me to use that toilet, which was available. When I protested, she answered the same way perpetrators of crimes against humanity did "I am just following orders." Where is the concern for the humanity of a senior citizen? Also the previous flight connections was scheduled too closely so that with security and border clearance, I was barely able to board at the last minute, thus causing a great deal of stress, no time to ear or use the toilet at the terminal, once again unhealthy stress and discomfort, no concern for the humanity of the passenger."

Cons: "It was warm in the aircraft the entire time. Right after we departed beverages and food was served. A small thin cup was offered for a beverage. We were on the plane for 5+ hours (including a delay at the beginning). The beverage cart never came by again only a stewardess once with a liter square bottle and cups for water. I was parched upon arrival to Toronto."

Cons: "After weather forced us to miss our flight to Delhi from Toronto (understandable), Air Canada booked us on an AC flight to London and then an Air India flight to Delhi from London. In Toronto they told us that we couldnt get our bags because they were in storage, but that they would be on the plane to London and then to Delhi. Upon arriving in London, Air India told us that Air Canada never booked us on their flight to Delhi - that neither of our names were on their manifest. Air India was helpful in getting Air Canada's mistake fixed. Upon arriving in India, my partners bag was nowhere to be found. It would be logical to assume that his bag was in London and never made the imaginary flight Air Canada booked us on. However, even though our bags sat in Air Canada storage for 24 hours, his bag was never even loaded onto our flight to London. He didn't receive his bag until 6 days into our trip, causing all of us to miss out on multiple experiences, including the ability to leave Delhi because of our need to get his bag and multiple missed and promised deadlines from the airline."

Cons: "I didn't enjoy the sassy customer service representative who "assisted" me in redirecting me for the next possible flight to India. She booked me for a flight to London and told me that I was also confirmed for an Air India flight from London to Delhi. This "confirmation" was false after checking in with Air India. There was no entry of me being registered for the flight. Luckily, there were enough seats to make my accommodation. The looming concern that followed was that my bag was clearly not going to be in Delhi once I arrived to my destination. This then became my reality and had to deal with not having my luggage for 6 days in India. There was blatant disregard between both airlines in trying to deliver my bag to me. They both blamed each other and refused to claim responsibility. With both refusing to claim fault, I had to fend for myself and pay for clothes and other necessities. Hands down, the WORST experience I've ever endured while traveling with any airline. I vow to never fly Air Canada and Air India ever again."
