I was originally being put in a row right behind the bulkhead with no individual monitor and a seat that was extremely cramped because of the tray table. I knew that I would be able to hang for a 13 hour flight and fortunately, the flight attendant was able to move my wife and I."

Will avoid EVA when there are other good choices. My wife had advised against EVA to begin with, check-in confirmed her advice. Crew didn’t come by much with water or juice, but they were courteous. Seat belt sign was put on when bumpy, but not turned off for the next hour or two of smooth sailing. “I told you so” was here reaction . . . ."

While I understand these things happen, Air Canada's response to me asking for help was abysmal. Ultimately, they didn't care and told me it was my problem. Sadly, one of the first people I talked to really did want to help and arranged flights that would have gotten me back on track but he was prevented from confirming the changes due to management. I will never fly with Air Canada ever again."

I reserved the tickets to Shanghai but there were no place reminding me that I need Canadian VISA to connect flights between two Canadian cities. I am a Chinese citizen who is working at USA and not allowed to change flights in Canada based on the newest government rules. However, in both booking systems, there is no reminders. In my opinion, either Kayak or Air Canada can add a simple checkbox to let the potential guest choose his or her nationality status, then this kind of trouble can be mitigated. We talked and called Air Canada people but no buying. They kept saying this is our responsibility. We bought United Airline tickets at the last minutes and cost us about $2,400 because we cannot wait to get back China to prepare our wedding ceremony and US Visa interview. We are very very disappointed with Air Canada and will keep complaining about this issue. As a service supplier, how cannot you think on behalf of a customer? The air company definitely knows more about government rules than a customer. We did have mistakes of not researching government rules. However, the biggest mistake was we trusted Air Canada and Kayak who we thought had taken care of those kind of issues for us. Thanks."

I don't know. Whatever." This left a terrible first impression on me."

Best part? Customer service told me that since I booked via Kayak, that I was not a valued customer and that they would not extend any courtesies to me for destroying my work trip itinerary."

The whole thing was embarrassing and very rude, maybe people of 6'6" should be charged for emergency exit!!"

At least 95% of the passengers were Chinese. Why does that matter? U.S. customer service is entirely absent. That means, things that you take for granted, like selecting your seat and getting your boarding pass on-line, is unavailable. Their website, such is it is, simply is not developed to the levels one would expect. We were unable to select our seats, get seats together, check on the status of the flight, check-in on-line, or get a boarding pass in advance. We essentially paid huge $$$ to a company then crossed our fingers that our reservation would be honored when we got to the airport. VERY STRESSFUL"

Multiple people around me were also asking around if the chairs recline. I have a mild back injury and sitting up at 90 degrees the entire way was very uncomfortable."

I've learned that I almost alway have to ask for one at the gate where they check or issue, (what's it called, loading permits, some kind of pass, not landing pass. loading pass. I can't remember and my wife has gone to bed.) Well, they have to come up with an aisle chair because I've only got 1 1/2 legs. I always make it to the seat on the plane, but the competency of the various crews is uneen. Sorry my answer is so nonspecific but I don't remember one airline from another. Great people all, get the job done."

It was very insensitive on their part to keep passengers waiting indefinitely at the Gate when they knew all the while how delayed the flight was. The crew is rude and officious and blatantly would just ignore customers trying to get their help, they will force you to keep all electronics to be off for 30 minutes after takeoff and before landing (literally taking them out of your hands) regardless of if they are in airplane mode or even have a wifi signal or are just a kindle, they will not permit the use of mobile phones at any point in the flight and again will take them out of your hand even in airplane mode to listen to music or type notes etc., the food is terrible, they came through once with drinks on a 6 hour flight (thank god I bought some water in the airport beforehand), the plane was noticeably decades old with chairs and table trays falling apart, entertainment did not exist which was made all the more noticeable because your electronics were taken away. My bag was broken and an entire shell for it was missing by the time it got to Singapore. And Shanghai is the worst airport for a layover I've ever been in -- it's a dump of an airport, has very few food options, terrible wifi, you are blocked from accessing basic websites like Google and Facebook, and you have to go through an entirely new security and checkin procedure, which is onerous, even though you did one in Japan. The boarding is slow and terrible, and the flight was delayed sitting on the tarmac for 40 minutes without even an attempt to apologize or explain for the delay. And it seems this behavior and approach is just normal based on other people I've talked to. It's. it hard to make flying a little more pleasant with basic courtesies but China Eastern seems to find a way to take every one of those opportunities to male your experience worse."

But Nanjing Airport was not that busy. Although it was drizzling, it was not windy at all. Soon after they announced that there would be delay, they decided to serve meal while the plane was on the tarmac. A new experience for me. On top of that, the passengers were noisy."

This guy was a spreader and was encroaching on my wife's space in an inappropriate way. The entertainment was dated and boring. I did not like the boarding process which was disorderly and chaotic. Little or no queuing and no zone boarding except for first and business classes. Economy was every man for himself. The situation at Shanghai Pudong Airport was also chaotic and little help from the airline navigating through a procedure we did not understand and were not forewarned about. Ditto checking in for our onward flight. Never again."

Everyone just waited even if the flight was late without no expectation on the delay and what caused it. The crew had poker faces and didn't know how to empathize with the frustrated passengers who were worried bec they might miss their connecting flights. There were no apologies and seemed that they didnt care at all, no answer and no setting of expectations theybjust kept asking us to wait whenever a passenger would ask when we will be onboarded."
