They put my husband and I in an exit row and my daughter at the back of the plane with strangers. I was not comfortable with strangers being responsible for my child. I assumed they would seat children with at least one parent. We did ask to move at the gate and the accommodated us with the last row on the plane. No recline, no window, and right next to the bathrooms. We took it to be with our kid but this policy needs to be revised. Kids should always be seated with the adult responsible for them... who knows what kind of person might end up next to my child. Not to mention if she had needed something is the stranger gonna take care of it? It’s just a bad practice imo."

Cons: "While my experience with Virgin Australia was good, I will not book with them due to the co-share with Delta Airlines. I missed my connecting flight from LAX to JFK due to additional security screening. As such I was advised to head to the Delta terminal to be booked onto the next available flight to NYC. After waiting over an hour in line to be seen by a staff member, I was told that they couldn't change my ticket as it was a Virgin flight. The same staff member didn't seem to even understand the concept of 'co-share', and also told me that because I booked through Kayak and not Delta that they could not help me. This makes me think that booking through a third party is a risky move. I was told there was absolutely nothing she could do, and that I would have go to a Virgin Australia Counter. This involved taking all of my luggage from Terminal 5 - all the way to Terminal 3. I was assisted by Virgin Australia, where they apologized for my experience, and confirmed that it was Delta's responsibility (and that they were capable) of rebooking my flight. Virgin booked me onto a later flight, but I still had to walk back to Terminal 5 (Delta) to give them my checked luggage. I was once again told that I didn't have the right ticket (details listed Virgin and Delta flight number - so this was way too confusing for them). Finally they printed my a boarding card and took my bags. I then ran through security and to gate in time for my flight. Flight was fully booked, due to a many people no doubt experiencing the same thing. Food was awful. Was a big step down from the Virgin flight in every aspect. There was not a single Delta Staff member who would even try to understand or be helpful. I will never fly with Delta again."

I have allergies and requested a special meal on all legs. No problem on the first three flights. All attendants approached me to confirm my allergy and the special meal. They were very polite. But on this flight, the attendant didn't speak with me about it at all. She tried to give me the regular meal. When I explained I needed an allergy free meal (mind you this was first class), I was told I could not get it and got no apology or other accommodation. Her attitude was take it or leave it. I found this interesting since on two of the other flights an announcement was made about another passenger with an allergy to peanuts so no one could have them on the flights and the attendants were very concerned."

You pay less, but it winds up being a very long, exhausting trip. I will take a US carrier from Quito to San Francisco, Reno or Vegas next time fir this reason alone."

Pros: "Hello, I checked in a dog in Detroit, The crew was great once they found out they can accept a dog. At first they were saying no because of partner with delta. I explain I booked the dog already and give all my required documents. Once in Mexico the documents were given to the authorities and when the crew in Detroit made copies they kept the originals and gave me the copies and they made me pay 1800 pesos for a vet to come and sign the paper.. I spoke to aeromexico in Mexico City and they said they are sorry but nothing can be done... This cause me my traveling money and 3 hours of very stressful times for me and my dog who had to stay in the box the whole time. Robin Martin"

American should be really embarrassed at how far it has fallen."

After boarding we sat in the plane without moving to the runway for 30 minutes just making the 8 hour flight even longer. The female manager, Latoya, at the desk was overly rude and completely out of line the way she was speaking to guests. Apparently American Airlines requests 90 minutes before departure to check you in, however their website does say they will try to accomadate customers that have arrived late. This employee refused 24 people access to the flight that we had booked and paid for. She related that she could put everyone on standby for the next and final flight out of Saint Thomas and standby for multiple connecting flights from Miami to many different parts of the country. This is because American Airlines over books their flights on purpose and has no problem leaving people stranded at an airport. Another employee related that it was easily accomplished to confirm is for the flight as we would have plenty of time prior to boarding since the aircraft had yet to arrive from its original location. American Airlines would not speak to any of the paid customers and would not look into other flights to see if there were other options to get customers home. When we boarded the plane there were still 4 customers that American Airlines stranded at the airport with no more flights out of the airport that day. This was an absolute disgrace and it was disgusting to see how the American Airlines staff were treating people. Their companies customer service has nothing to say other then sorry. I will never fly American Airlines again and now know why so many other people also feel this way."

The monitors at the gate do not indicate which groups have been called and are allowed to board, so everyone just crowds up at the gate, you can't hear what's being announced and it's messy. It would be so helpful and efficient it was clearly displayed which groups have been called to board. I don't know why all airlines don't implement this. We were also made to check our carry on at the gate and when we got on the plane there was enough space in the overhead, which was a bit annoying."

Cons: "The gate attendant asked if I would be willing to move to a different aisle seat to allow a family to stay together. She told me it was the same seat, saying "aisle for an aisle." It wasn't--it was the worst seat in the house--last row, next to the toilet, smelled the entire flight, with no possibility to recline. I had booked my seat months in advance, so a concession offer, such as a food/drink voucher, or a seat in econ plus, would have been the right thing to do. Instead I felt like a tool. Makes me wary of doing something nice for the airline in the future. No plugs in regular economy class makes it hard to use the United app for entertainment. Also, kept getting bumped off the wifi app."

Cons: "United Business class to Tokyo was comparable to traveling on Premium Economy on other Star Alliance airlines. Disappointing."

Cons: "Mislead on purchase with Brussels air and Lufthansa. Both were united flights. I had to purchase my seat after purchase to be comfortable. I specifically chose those airlines and was not happy with the switch"

Cons: "The United Boarding Agent repeatedly warned about the "SMALL" carry on compartments on the CJR aircraft and literally insisted we tag our carry ons to be set aside on boarding even though we knew they fitted OK. AS A RESULT when we got to Calgary we had to wait at the over size luggage racks for our carry ons to be delivered instead of them being set up for us as we left the aircraft which is normal!! Very frustrating!!"

Cons: "2 suitcases out of 6 came broken, the airline did not accept any claim because they say the type of damage is not covered!!!"

Since most travelers do not experience being served food on local flights these days, the selection of answers for this category should be updated to include N/A (not applicable) which is what I would've chosen. Very difficult to rate a tiny bag of pretzels 5 Stars."

Pros: "It got to me to Atlanta fine. But going back to Newark was a nightmare."
Cons: "When I checked in at Newark, I upgraded my seat from 22 B to 7B for $55. I also paid $25 for my small piece of luggage. I was told there may be a lot of suitcases and it was better to check it. When on the plane, a stewardess came up to me and asked to see my boarding pass (which was scanned when I got onto the plane.) I gave it to her and she never returned it to me. I get an EMAIL while in Atlanta, saying my seat on the flight was canceled because I was a NO SHOW on the 27th to go down to Atlanta. I had the receipt of my seat upgrade, my receipt for the checked luggage, and the tag on the luggage. I called United who said I wasn't on the plane. After a long conversation, she said she fixed it. I get to the Atlanta airport on 10/31, and I was not in the system. I had to get a supervisor and they said my seat was gone and I may not be able to get back to NJ that day. After the agent called United Headquarters, they finally got me on the plane. I was told once again I should check my luggage and shelled out another $25. I then get to the gate, and the agent at the gate was asking for 10-20 people to check their luggage for FREE. That was it for me. I will not fly United again, and have already requested that my Executive Admin's not use United and use other airlines when they book business trips because I would hate for anyone to have to go through what I did. I am 44, have been flying since I was 5, and have never had anything like this happen and don't want it to happen to anyone else I know. I was disgusted by the whole situation."

Cons: "Our flight home we couldn't land in Chicago due to storms and diverted to Madison. Sat on Tarmac 2 hours and some passengers from Madison allowed to end journey there. We had to wait for that approval and again had to wait for their luggage to be removed from the plane. My opinion is let them disembark but not the luggage. It was too long to be in that plane"

One gentleman had some serious problems there but it was clear he was not getting any resolution. he was obviously very very frustrated. Syrupy sweet noodles?"

Pros: "Crew was able to switch my seat so I was able to board early and have a seat where I could stretch my bad foot."
Cons: "On takeoff and landing it sounded like the plane was falling apart - literally. My confidence was shaken when it sounded like someone was sawing the belly of the plane. Very scary."
