Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "All westjet workers are amazing. Starting from the people at the front desk, the crews on the plan and the people that give direction."
Cons: "Bathroom had no light Seats hard and uncomfortable Did not offer any entertainment rental like Air Canada"
Pros: "Pleasant Staff Great flight"
Cons: "that i paid to get a seat next to my brother and the plane was not full and people got to sit where they liked. it cost me more money for nothing."
Cons: "When tavelling with a child, which is always identified at the time of booking by providing child's age, every other airline was able to accommodate seating together. Even at the lowest fare class. Not Westjet, their automatic computer seating assignment gave us seats in separate rows !! When asked at the checkin and also again at the gate, we were told that the fare class that we paid for does not allow seat changes. They simply would not seat a parent and a child together unless we paid extra $25/person to change seats. This kind of gauging for money was shocking. Especially when there were 3 other rows behind us with free seats together !! This was clearly a case of wanting more money. At the lowest fare class parents travelling with children can expect the child to be sitting separately from them. Or pay up more."
Pros: "on time"
Pros: "Pleasant and helpful stewardess. When they found out how stressful our day was with delays and being bumped around they offered us a free drink. Nothing crazy but it was kind of them."
Cons: "When our flights were delayed then changed we were left with no options other then being left with a 19 hr layover in Vancouver and missing the wedding. No apologies or vouchers offered. Air Canada gave $200 for a two hour delay to our friends, we were screwed over and offered nothing. So disappointed. We ended up flying to Vegas and renting a car and driving through the night to be on time. So sad!!"
Pros: "Decent flight."
Cons: "Entertainment system did not work. Also they said there is USB sockets at your seat but there were none."
Pros: "More leg room in seat than expected."
Pros: "Had a fantastic experience on my first round trip with WestJet. Very satisfied, would definitely fly them again. I also liked how we were able to clear Customers BEFORE we departed from YVR; made the arrival that much smoother when we landed at SFO"
Pros: "Great flight. It was like the plane wasnt even moving !!"
Pros: "Great leg room...clean"
Cons: "All of the onboard staff was great except for one. She was visible grumpy. She was rude to an elderly couple sitting next to me. Her impatience with them ended up that she didn't get their drink order right. She challenged them on whether they really said they wanted milk and sugar or just sugar. Then she rolled her eyes and huffed and puffed about someone else waiting to get down the aisle after going to the bathroom. The client was had patience and was talking to those around her. The server was verbally frustrated and everyone knew by her words and facial expressions. There was an elderly lady with a cane who she was very brusk and impatient with. Her tone was condesending and dismissive."
Pros: "Airport counter staff v helpful. Crew were great. Helped lady with 2 kids. Looked after 1 while mom changing other."
Cons: "Need more seat room. No entertainment."
Pros: "The crew on the ground and in the air were great. So helpful and upbeat. Every attempt was made to ensure our comfort and safety."
Cons: "I was in a window seat next to a small child and her mother. They were both lovely, but I couldn't move for the bulk of the trip because they slept most of the way. Not the fault of the airline of course, but if there was a bit more leg room, it would have been a less claustrophobic trip. I used to fly a lot back in the 70s and early 80s and I don't remember ever being so uncomfortable. I have another trip flying back home at the end of the week, and, quite frankly I'm dreading it. Also, it was impossible to hear the captain's address, the on-board instructions, or various other announcements, in the airport and on the plane. Especially on the plane; the speakers were far too quiet to hear anything the captain said other than it was a nice day."
Pros: "The flight attendants are awesome! We were traveling with our 6 month old daughter, and the flight attendants went out of their way to make sure we had a personal safety demo for our daughter, and made sure we had everything we needed. They even held her while I went to the bathroom! Amazing customer service!!"
Cons: "No entertainment-but I think this is being phased out of most planes now."
Pros: "Flight crew humour"
Pros: "The stewards were great however no TV anymore and meals because of cost cutting was where we thought it was lacking."
Cons: "Refer to above :"
Pros: "The crew was so friendly. They offered to check bags for free at the gate which is awesome because I didn’t have to worry about finding space in the overhead bins when boarding."
Cons: "Flight was delayed an hour, but it was due to weather, so it is really out of westjets hands."
Pros: "$200 WestJet dollar compensation"
Cons: "Waiting 5 hours to leave. Not checking for delays before boarding. 12 month expiry on WestJet dollars."
Cons: "It didn't happen"
Pros: "I enjoyed the WestJet app for movies. Really great for me and my daughter. Also the McDonald’s coffee ✅"
Cons: "The way we got treated in a bad situation , we knew deicing needed to be done, and were told we were 8th in the que, this was shortly after 10 AM. This was followed with an announcement the ground crew was too busy and couldn't push us off . This either BS or an inept crew or management or both. All kinds of planes got sevice except us. Something is not being treated fairly. I am highly disappointed,"
Pros: "When I stepped onto the plane, there was someone there to greet you. That was nice."
Pros: "Quick and direct. Great staff"
Pros: "Efficient service - boarding and arrival were on time."
Pros: "The leg room"
Cons: "They didn’t have wifi so couldn’t watch anything"

Pros: "The staff was outstanding from the minute we arrived in Hamilton till we got to Edmonton. So impressed with the customer service."
Pros: "Flight was great! Just a bit slow on boarding, that ok , I understand. Out of Hamilton but better than Toronto."
Cons: "Arriving at Orlando, Real confusing and I'm not really old yet. Good thing we had people to meet us, I had no idea where to go."
Pros: "The staff were so helpful to travellers with small children and elderly travellers. They looked like they really enjoyed their jobs...Well Done Christine S North Vancouver"
Pros: "food, flight crew, leg room"
Cons: "crying babies"
Pros: "Pleasant staff and adequate leg room."
Pros: "the connection time in Calgary was short, so overall the trip was verily quick. Generally, the flight was good, clean plane, good services."
Cons: "There was no food for sale on a 4 hour flight from Hamilton to Calgary the flight left at 6:30 a.m., meaning that one had to be at the airport by 5:30 a.m., and for me leave where I was staying an hour before that. It was a connecting flight in Calgary with almost no time in the airport so I didn't get to eat until I arrived in Nanaimo at 1:15 p.m., Ontario time. for health reasons - I'm diabetic, I wish I had known that no "real" food was available. I got a snack which I read had 50 calories, and I got a juice which I normally won't drink to maintain blood sugar levels."
Pros: "Excellent Customer Service"
Cons: "No healthy snack options"
Cons: "To be honest, our stuartess was very abrasive. To everyone."
Pros: "On time departure, early arrival"
Pros: "crew is excellent"
Pros: "Seats were roomy. The biscoff was tasty. No issues boarding or during the flight."
Cons: "The westjet app wouldn't let me sign in so no entertainment but I brought my own so no biggie. This flight was fully booked And they needed people to check their bags. One flight attendant seemed kind of snippy about it to another passenger but I understand her frustration."
Pros: "Most things"
Cons: "There is none."
Pros: "I was upgraded for free, and everyone was incredibly nice and great at their jobs!"
Pros: "Liked most but don't understand why a family of 3 was separated. Bought tickets together."
Cons: "Could have ended our trip together but we were separated"
Cons: "Flight delayed 1.5 hours because incoming plane did not arrive. Finally took off 2.5 hours late. Just in time to arrive in Charlottetown to a severe thunderstorm. Circled til low on fuel then flew to Moncton. Refuelled and flew back to Charlottetown, arriving at 3 a.m., four hours late. The weather delay was understandable but WestJet's poor scheduling created the problem. Worst of all, the airline never told anyone what was going on, not the passengers nor the people waiting for them at the airport. Total silence. Unbelievable but typical for airlines."
Pros: "Staff were super friendly and welcoming"
