Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Cons: "There was no inflight entertainment screen. Would have liked one on a 4-hour flight."
Pros: "On time and new plane"
Cons: "Nothing much"
Pros: "Great plane B 787"
Cons: "Paid online for food and most choices gone Overpriced"
Cons: "70min delayed departure exhausted a three hour window I had to get through customs, get my luggage, and get on the London Underground to get to Liverpool Street Station for my connecting train. Means I’m out $40 Canadian for a ticket that went unused."
Pros: "Exceptional & friendly service."
Cons: "For a 4+ hour flight they may consider offering some free snack & drink."
Pros: "Many airlines have code share flights but it is better to buy ticket directly from the original airline as they keep on ignoring the code share flight bookings"
Cons: "Till last moment we were kept hanging if we will board or not as no seat number was allocated. I believe it was as we were from the code share airline not the real one"
Pros: "Direct flight - on time departure , arrived early"
Cons: "Grumpy crew, uncomfortable seating - tight & seating comfort poor, attendants came around once for drink & food - didn't return until end of flight"
Pros: "nothing was impressing about Air Canada"
Cons: "Seats was not comfortable."
Pros: "I travel a lot. I have to say both Air Canada and Kayak did a excellent job to remind me via email and text message to check-in online 24 hrs before my departure, never fail. Kayak also keeps on updating me about my flight on time or not, gate number etc. As a traveler, these features are very important. keep up with the good work!"
Cons: "flight got cancelled and was put on flight 1 hour later than originally planned."
Cons: "Because the first flight was delayed I did not end of completing this leg of the trip with Air Canada but instead rode British Airways."
Cons: "I did not fly to Montreal and I did not catch flight to Barcelona I am fling again tonight Toronto - Barcelona direct"
Pros: "Crew was great and very helpful when needed!"
Cons: "There were no TVs or Audio Jacks for entertainment for such a long flight. They did have an iPad available for a cost."
Pros: "Food, cocktails"
Cons: "Crowded, bumpy flight"
Pros: "On time. Comfortable."
Cons: "Entertainment system had ads. Too many."
Pros: "Nothing because ..."
Cons: "It didn't happen. I booked myself on Delta for an am flight at my own expense. I will not fly air Canada again. This was the worst customer service experience I've had in 35 years of flying. I'm a multi millions mile flyer and will fly to Calgary a lot going forward, but not AC"
Pros: "seats felt like they were bare to the metal"
Cons: "Pleasant a/c employees"
Pros: "It was a good experience flying on Air Canada. The flight was on schedule, smooth flight, flight attendants were friendly."
Pros: "I'm done flying with this company. Only reason I did was because I had a $100 gift card from the last time I flew with them and it was delayed 4 hours. Couldn't even use the gift card to pay for my luggage because they didn't have a proper machine to accept the gift card."
Pros: "Honestly, can't expect to be ridiculously comfortable being a 6'2 female on an airplane. The staff was friendly, running about doing their jobs. The plane was clean, temperature was a bit chilly but hey, it's all good. Overall, it got me from point a to point b. And that's really all you can ask for. Thanks everyone!"
Cons: "Air was chilly. Leg room obviously because I'm so tall. Other than those two things, it was as enjoyable as it could have possibly been."
Cons: "The flight attendant looked like she was drunk. The flight was overbooked and the boarding agent asked people to stay for a later flight. There was also a Air Canada crew member who looked like he was on standby for our flight, his last name was Campbell. Once we boarded the plane we noticed that the crew member had been given a seat on the plane, where a mother with three children that was also on standby had to stay for a later flight. Not sure how 1) you overbook a flight, and much less 2) give a seat to a crew member over a customer."
Pros: "Lufthansa was amazing food, entertainment, condition of plane, service, etc... Compared to Air Canada! We had a Aur Canada ticket but it was Lufthansa operated. However, Lufthansa comfort not as good as we were cramped in small seats and couldn't see out on the long daytime flight because the window passenger closed all the windows (it was like being cramped in a cardboard box for ten plus hours... Thank heavens for the great drinks, food, water, and entertainment."
Cons: "Small seats. Window shades down all day on a daytime flight."
Pros: "Crew"
Cons: "Seat pitch is non existent, so are free food or drink options. Very uncomfortable seats, glad my flight was only 2.5 hours. Avoid this airline...go Westjet instead."
Pros: "Only 30 minutes late, nice landing."
Cons: "Pitch between seats, filth all over seat back and tray table, mass rush to board when zone three is called, no free snacks, limited drink choices, etc."
Cons: "I usually drink 2 or 3 beers on a flight like this. I bought a beer for myself and girlfriend. Beer hot and was told they had no way to keep cold. That's how it comes. 13.50 wasted. Sat there for 3 1/2 hours with nothing to drink. Had nothing on way back. Kind of ruined my flying experience. Have to think about flying air Canada again."
Pros: "The flight attendants were GREAT. The seats are crammed so close together that I had trouble getting my under the seat suitcase wedged in. On other airlines, the suitcase fits very nicely underneath the seat, allowing me to rest my feet on the suitcase. I am on the short side, so having the suitcase to rest my feet really helps. On the flight to Toronto, my daughter had to do it for me. On the return flight, the sweet flight attendant put the bag in and took it out for me. I really appreciated that"
Cons: "I know that all airlines have reduced the seat size and spacing. But it seems like Air Canada is worse than most."
Cons: "Flight was delayed. Would be nice to get notified by email."
Cons: "It was cancelled."
Pros: "I liked how you had movies to watch although they were outdated. The bathrooms were okay."
Cons: "You have to download an entertainment app and if no one tells you to then you are screwed. The food was awful, like baby food for adults. The chairs need to be able to move back more. The flight delays are just wrong."
Pros: "Flight attendant's were friendly amid the circumstances."
Cons: "Our first flight was cancelled 15 minutes before scheduled take-off. upon being bumped to another flight two hours later, that flight was delayed two hours after an issue during take-off. We remained on the plane while mechanic/engineering staff rectified the problem. We booked a flight to save time on driving. We would have arrived earlier had we drove. I understand things happen, but the airline eneds to take responsibility and show some good customer service. Aside from the pilot, no apology given, no reimbursement offered. Disappinting. Air Canada is now a last-resort option for a frequent flyer like myself."
Pros: "comfortable seating and nice staff"
Cons: "no entertainment on this flight(movies) and it was 9 hrs"
Cons: "They overbooked the flight and would not allow me to board even though I had booked my ticket months in advance."
Cons: "There was no working charge for electronics."
Cons: "Mine and my wife's legs did not fit. The seats were spaced much closer together than is standard, and this made the flight unbearable. I stood in the isle for most of the flight. To make things worse on this 5 hour flight, there was no video available to distract me."
Pros: "Billy Bishop airport is awesome!"
Cons: "Flight was delayed and crew didn't accommodate a rebooking despite availability .. Although original flight did board soon after."
Pros: "Flight had lots of empty seats, so it was easier to get comfortable. Flight attendants were kind and helpful."
Cons: "In air entertainment is supposedly through an app, so I can't speak to the quality because by the time I was in he plane I didn't have service to download it. It makes for a pretty long flight overseas when you have no movies to occupy you."
Pros: "Punctuality. Take off and landing was to schedule, and the return flight was actually 20+ minutes early landing"
Cons: "Extra charges for baggage; no food whatsoever unless you bought it; staged boarding meant that when we finally were allowed on board other passengers had pinched our overhead cabin space, NOT IMPRESSED; no in flight entertainment unless you had downloaded the AC Rouge player in advance; no recharging socket for tablet devices - so you might just see half a movie anyway. If I pay a lot of money for a ticket, even if it's a budget airline, I expect more."
Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "first flight cancelled, second flight delayed so impossible to get the connection. Nobody called me about it, I had to go to ask."
Pros: "the flight was on time, without any delay, easy boarding"
Cons: "Food was very mediocre, also the variety of movies needs to be improved asap."
Pros: "Love Air Canada"
Pros: "The crew was really great"
Cons: "No tvs, which I had on my connecting flight for each individual seat and then the 7hoir flight didn't have any? Also not having individual air control is very claustrophobic! Thank goodness I paid extra for premium seating, but the lady I sat next to said she didn't pay any extra :| also the seat in front of me where I had to place my bag had a bar under it so my bag didn't fit correctly"
Pros: "Staff was friendly and accomodating"
Cons: "Return flight was delayed a couple hours, customs was "full" at Pearson causing more delays"
Pros: "flight was mostly empty so I can go sit somewhere else"
Cons: "I am only 6 feet tall, and my legs do not fit in those seats there is not physically enough room between the back of the seat and the back of the next seat for my legs to fit there"
Pros: "Extra leg room but paid for it."
Cons: "Very turbulent. Entertainment system was okay on iPad but selections were poor, lots of old stuff. Really dislike Rouge."
Cons: "Could not book on line and had to sit 20 rows from my wife. When you book 2 persons 1 month in advance then I would expect that we would at least be seated together. Plane was full but A/C made no effort whatsoever to seat us together. With so many choices out there to fly with they ( Air Canada ) should try to put in a little more effort"
Pros: "Once, on board everything went smoothly"
Cons: "Not being made aware of the real departure time ahead of time."
Pros: "It is my first time to fly 15 hours. It is a bit challenging"
Cons: "Some crew members have porker face all the time, not friendly."
Pros: "It was a nice flight-- the seats were comfortable and relatively spacious. The cabin crew was very friendly and accommodating. They offered us water multiple times throughout the trip in addition to the normal drink service, which was much appreciated. Also, the AirCanda gate in Toronto was ridiculously nice-- many of the seats came with a desk, phone and laptop outlets, and an iPad!"
Cons: "The flight was delayed 40 minutes, the boarding process went quite slowly, and our bags were slow to arrive at baggage claim on the other end (which probably was the airport's fault rather than AirCanada's). But these were only minor inconveniences."
Cons: "do not like the idea of having to pay extra for a seat other than a middle seat even though I booked and you had my money long before the flight happened"
