The next morning, after we boarded, we waited an hour on the plane before taking off while they searched for a maintenance book. The entertainment system did not work at all nor did the Wi-Fi. Overall American Airlines did a very poor job communicating the delays ahead of time. I won't be flying an international flight with AA again."
Pros: "It started with a unclear check-in process, proceeded with a multi-hour delayed flight with several reasons given for each return back to gate. Ended with us getting off the plane 4 hours after we were originally due to take off, a further hour delay before they said we could board again but then midway through that boarding we were told the flight was cancelled and no hotels were available and we'd need to return to check-in area to find out next steps. All this with our exhausted 4-year olds. Ended with us leaving the airport at 3 am. I truly never wish to fly American Airlines again."

I suppose if I had barely missed the flight, I would want the plane to turn around. However, those three people held up a plane that was completely full and had standby passengers. Through the entire flight, there was an issue with the seating and there was a man standing up at the front because he had nowhere to sit. It was one of the most bizarre flights I've ever taken... and I fly about 15-20 times a year."

We then missed our plane because finair informes us after waiting online we needed to go to another terminal to check bags at american airline. That was not initially told to us and now we are spending over $1000 so we can fly tomorrow plus hotel room. It also affected a business trip to vegas which i needed to cancel. My experience was terrible with finair and american airlines with terrible customer support at the airport. Amazing how we need to pay another 1000 for terrible communication."

Cons: "At JFK, I was waiting at my gate for two hours and at some point during that time, the flight switched gates. I didn't hear the announcement, and since there continued to be people around me, I saw no reason for concern until it got close to departure time and I still hadn't been prompted to begin boarding. I was trying to be patient and not bother anyone, and that was where I went wrong. I should have been more vigilant because they certainly don't go out of their way to help you at American Airlines. When I finally asked the woman at the desk when we were boarding for LA, she told me the gate had moved and was about to close, so I ran to the other gate right as they were closing the doors. The plane was still there, but they wouldn't let me through the gate. I remained calm and explained that I had a ticket for this flight. I didn't feel even the slightest bit of empathy coming from them. They put me on a long list of standby passengers, and I had to wait for several more hours until I finally got on a flight. During that time, the crew at the desks were so unfriendly and dismissive, I decided I did not want to support American Airlines again. This was the first time I had a major problem with an airline company. I tend to be a stress-free traveler, but this was a pretty awful experience overall."

Once in board we find out that they can't take off because they need to fix the "entertainment system" but apparently they sent the wrong technician who didn't know how to fix it and had to wait for the right one. I'm not even sure what had to be fixed since there wasn't even any entertainment offered after they fixed it. Once we arrived there were about 100 bags sitting in the bag claim and an equal number of people standing around waiting for bags. None of which was associated with our flight. Then it took forever to get the luggage out for our flight."

I was able to get on another flight with one stop and was stuck in middle seats for both flights - although I had paid for a premium seat on the nonstop flight that was cancelled. Then I got notified around noon that my 5:15 PM flight from NY to DC that day was cancelled. American left me a voice mail that they had automatically rebooked me for the following day without checking to see if that worked for me - despite that fact that they had other same day flights available! I was able to rearrange my schedule and get on an earlier flight - but was extremely unhappy with the short notice, and their assumption that I would be fine getting in the next day!"

I called American Aurlines customer service line and they were not helpful. I will never fly American again."

After several delays, they started boarding us at 1:00am, but the boarding process so messy and confuse, the plane couldn’t took off before 1:40 by 1 minute and they had to cancel the flight with 200 people inside the plane. An absurd! Flight was rescheduled to today at 10am and obviously took off 1h delayed because AA can't organize simple things to expedite the boarding process."

Cons: "The gate agent made us starting in boarding group 6 out of 9 to check sizes of bags in the size box and she got into a verbal fight with another passenger. One guy told her she could board but the gate agent said no it didn't fit and she couldn't board. Then the agent claimed she had to gate check her bag and claimed there were no overhead spaces left. So everyone after that had to gate check. When I boarded there were at least 8 empty bins and I had not even gotten to my seat in row 22. The gate agent lied and slowed down the entire boarding process because she want to win a fight and show dominance over a passenger."
Cons: "I was traveling with the exact same size suitcase I’ve probably traveled with as a carry on for at least 50 prior flights, and the boarding agent insisted it was too large. I am a very petite woman, and so when I carry a normal size bag, it can look large by comparison to my body. Further, the flight was 1/3 empty and had plenty of overhead space even once the plane was completely boarded. I am sorely offended based on the discrimination I suggested simply because I am short of stature."

I thought maybe it was because there wasn’t enough overhead space, but as we got on the plane the overhead bins were very large and extra space was left as they began to close up the bins for take off. It was extremely annoying and I felt I was given no choice."
