For auch a short flight it is annoying the number of announcements, mainly because you have a 30 to 35 mins flight and you music or movie stop for every announcement. They announced a drink service that never happened (understandable for such a short flight, but don’t bother me from sleeping or listening to music or watching a movie with and announcement we have to disregard) The crew was good… I feel bad for them having to push the credit cards so hard (also annoying) I did like the video of the safety features better than the old fashioned presentations
The flight was fine. I didn’t have any food or drink, but I believe they offered the usual cookie or pretzels and standard beverages. The crew was very friendly. The seats - like seats on just about all airlines - are a bit cramped - but I was relatively comfortable and the plane was clean. I’d fly American again for sure.

Maintenance delay for 2 hours after Canceling my flight earlier in the week. So typical for this poorly run airline. Will make better choices for future flights.

So much fun to be delayed 3.5 hours so you land at 12:12 a.m. CT and then discover there are planes stacked on the tarmac but no open gates. We’ve been sitting in a hot plane for 1:20 and have no estimate when we’ll get a gate. This was poor gate management by American Airlines and DFW. Every AA flight I am on of late has been problematic at best.
Plane smelled a little funny. Flight was 30 minutes shorter than expected, but gate was occupied when we arrived. Staff was great.

This American Airlines strike is wack. Our flight was delayed 2 hours because the flight crew didn’t show up. Extremely disappointing.

Cons: "I upgraded to 1st class for both flights but the plane seating was very dismal and hadn't been upgraded in either of these planes for a long time. After we boarded the plane we were told that no drink, snacks or food would be offered. The attendant shut off the lights as soon as we got in the air and kept it dark in the cabin until 10 minutes before we landed. She never came around to check on us once or ask if we needed anything. I was so thirsty when we landed. I have decided that I will either go back to United Airlines or check out the 1st class options at American Airlines better next time. This might not have been their fault, I'm not sure what it was, but the flight was late landing and we took off an hour late as well which really put me behind schedule."
Cons: "Flight was delayed due to weather. That is understandable. However the crew was not helpful in sharing any information with customers about changes to connecting flights. Much time was wasted and I had to reschedule my flight. The staff members that booked my hotel and my new flight were short and brief and not very helpful or accommodating or informative. Overall I didn’t not feel like a welcomed guest and I do not feel enough compensation was offered for such an inconvenience. Not being able to have my bag overnight was a hassle. I had no clean clothes and had to throw out my contacts because I had no solution. I also couldn’t use the meal voucher they gave me because everywhere in the airport was closed by that time. No stipend was given for toiletries or food delivery. Very unimpressed."

Cons: "During covid-19 they are not even attempting at providing a modicum of social distancing. Every seat in both of my flights was completely filled, meaning that we were squished up next to everyone despite any efforts to stay 6ft away from each other in the airports. Many passengers were wearing their masks incorrectly (not covering their nose, TAKING OFF THE MASK TO SNEEZE) and were not being asked to wear their mask properly by staff. I felt completely unsafe and won't be flying American again until there is a vaccine for covid."

Cons: "This was a multi city, round trip starting out of CLT. My connection was way too close, and we missed the connection due to a mechanical problem. The lines to get vouchers were super long, and the hotel was not the best. It was way after midnight when I got to the hotel, and I did not feel safe staying at a Quality Inn. I had to walk to my room outside, and had leave in the morning in the dark as well. I was traveling alone. Please put your passengers in a better hotel, closer to the airport. I did not expect that from American Airlines."
Cons: "The flight boarded twenty minutes late despite the plane being at the gate early scheduled departure. Baggage took another forty minutes to load. Then they decided there we were overweight (data that should be known before the cargo was loaded) and off loaded two people. Then after another delay they realised that off loading people meant off loading their baggagge, total delay nearly 2 hours The hedset socket on the entertainment system did not work The USB port did not work THey ran out of food after serving three rows, loaded four sandwiches, no wraps and 2 cheese plates for a full evening flight that was over 5 hours in duration including the delays."
Cons: "The seats are extremely restrictive and in a aisle seat I had the gentleman sitting next to me with thighs touching and attendants brushing by me as I squished to left to avoid contact with him. Entertainment screen between center seat and window seat so I just didn't even try to look at it and mostly just leaned forward to have a little space. Also another inch or 2 was taken by person in front of me putting their seat back. With such restrictive space why is this even possible??? Flying has become ridiculous and I try not to as much as I can."

Cons: "The American Airlines crew in Houston gave multiple people the wrong information regarding checked luggage for our connecting flight. Because the flight from NYC was over an hour delayed and the misinformation, several people missed the connecting flight. Hobby closes at a certain hour so I now have to wait until tomorrow morning to retrieve my carry on luggage the American Airlines MADE me check because of the group I was in. I called American Aurlines customer service line and they were not helpful. I will never fly American again."

There were 5 people trying to connect to the same flight so it’s pretty rediculous that we were told to rebook when the plane didn’t leave the gate for 15 more minutes. This was the call of the airline and it was handled poorly. The rebooking agent was also extremely rude and seemed totally self absorbed. This was my worst flying experience out of approximately 50 flights this year. Never again American."

Cons: "I could not pre-check or request different seats on the CP website. I think that this was because of issues with the website, apparently due to IT system communication between American Airlines and Cathay Pacific.......on all six flights. On the transfer in San Francisco, Customs was closed when we arrived in San Francisco and we had to haul all of our baggage from one terminal to the other. There was no direction on how to handle this issue of Customs being closed while on the flight to San Francisco. I had to explain the issue of to the CP customer service crew in SF. The CP desk and they had never heard of it. American Airlines was equally poorly trained. I will also say that while at the CP customer service, there were three young adult males that we're not busy at the time and the watched us unload the baggage carts onto the scales and conveyor and then reloaded on to the carts to push to the AA terminal. We handled the bags two additional times because the CP staff did not know what to do and how to handle it. Other passengers were confused as well."

I turned it off AT LEAST EIGHT TIMES and it kept coming back on, first to try to sell me on a credit card offer, then to show me previews of movies I wasn't going to watch on a 5 AM FLIGHT that was lasting 75 MINUTES. I finally tore a page out of the AA magazine and wedged it against the screen so I could actually sleep without it constantly blinking on and disturbing me. Next time, I'm going to smash the screen. If I want it off, leave it off."

And as a little boy, he cannot sleep straight and he has to lean to a stranger's shoulder? Thankfully I got a nice gent who should have sat next to him who were so kind to exchange seat with me. It's all in the attitude.... hopefully my attitude is not as bad :-) But maybe the gate agent was so tired for it was the last flight from ONT, at 1 AM. Bless her heart! Thank you though for your help to get the plane leave on time.!"
Pros: "I arrived in Sydney the day I was supposed to. Everything else was a let down and was not what I paid for."
Cons: "American Airlines cancelled a flight because of ‘weather’ from Msy to dfw, all other flights from Msy to Dallas operated on time but were sold out. We were re booked flying through San Francisco, missing out on flying on qantas, which is what I had paid for since they are a premium airline. We were booked on virgin America and then United for the international flight. United charged us each for 2 bags totalling $150 each, despite we booked a ticket with qantas which allows 2 bags each. Virgin America honoured our 2 bags, but united refused to. United also has service and aircraft which do not match the levels of qantas which I has specifically sought out. I could not eat some of the food because of the poor quality, and this is something I’ve never done before on an international flight. Additionally their were a lack of amenities on both flights, and no food vouchers despite our travel delay of over 5 hours. This whole ordeal has cost me money, worktime, and created a lot of stress to where I have had to cancel meeting on my arrival in Sydney."

Cons: "Staff at the check-in counter made fun of my surname. Bad start but not noteworthy unless combined with the rest of the experience. The flight was delayed causing me to miss another AA connection by minutes. Waited in line to be told I wouldn't get on a flight til the following day, they couldn't help with accommodation and I wouldn't receive my luggage until the following day. In short, AA left me stranded in a strange city at midnight with no accommodation and no luggage. It was 18 degrees and I was in t-shirt and shorts. What a memory."

Cons: "American Airlines is running neck and neck with United, competing for the world’s worst airline. They have crammed so many seats onto their planes that I’m surprised it isn’t a health hazard. I was in an aisle seat and every time I started to fall asleep, someone going down the aisle slammed into me, making any sort of rest impossible. And the flight attendants had the typical U.S. flight attendant perma-rage, of course. I feel sorry for them, underpaid and overworked, but always p***ed off. Anerican Airlines needs to look at Emirates and other non-U.S. carriers to learn how to treat their passengers."

Pros: "The seat was comfortable for such s long flight (~10 hrs). The selection of movies/television/music for personal use was exceptional. Being provided a lightweight blanket & small pillow a nice touch. Beverage service and a small unexpected VIP of ice cream a very nice surprise!"

It was daytime. As there was no one sitting next to me, I ultimately kept the shade partway open. I could tell the crew was irritated. Several hours later, a different FA came over and just shut my shade; I reopened it. What a stupid tug of war."

Now no mater what other plane I catch idmiss my connection in Dallas. Which means I don’t get to Paris on time. Which ruined my plans to surprise my gf and propose to her. It took one call to British Airlines to get me rebooked. Something american was taking hours. I still won’t make it on time but at least I’ll make it. American then misplaced my luggage and it took two hours to retrieve it. Turns out it was sitting behind the counter the whole time the kept telling me it would be on the baggage flame area."

I missed my flight because I had to go find it in baggage claim, take a taxi to another terminal, hoof it across the terminal to TSA pre-check which was 45 people deep and slow as a snail, then run to the gate (which was at the ooooother end I originally entered through). I missed my flight literally by 3 minutes. There was no one at the gate to help me, AA staff kept telling me to go to different places, getting a new flight was INSANE. The whole experience was a pure nightmare."

Door was still open but gate agent argued with the lady on 800 line about who could ticket faster. By time they finished arguing the door closed. That began a 14 hour nightmare of bumping between flights and delays and the inevitable lost luggage. Paid for $300 hotel room at Vancouver that I will get to stay in for 4 hours. Will NEVER fly American again"

New seats also had extra padding and were more comfortable! Wow1"

I'm thinking the airline shouldn't book the front seats by the panel as 'better' for the extra price as they were definitely not."

The plane was still there. It was 25 minutes before take off time. And she rerouted me onto a different aircraft in which I had to RUN to the other side of the airport again. Only to find out this flight was delayed for 45 minutes. In which adding on to me already delayed flight. I understand some things are out of everyone's control. But the lady made me feel like I was just looking around in shops instead of being where I needed. Never again."

Cons: "Crew brought food whether you wanted it or not. They loaded up my husband's tray table with food for 3, even though they were all asleep. I was sitting across the way, so, perhaps they didn't hear me say no thanks. The entertainment system was awful. You had to go through all the steps again and again every time you tried to simply check flight information. Annoying. When we arrived DFW customs, one of our bags was missing. Still in London. No surprise. LHR is awful. We would not see that bag again for nearly 4 days. They gave me some thing about a belt problem between T5 and T3 in LHR. We went from T3 to T3. No excuse. Probably fell off somewhere. Chocolates were a bit melted and chip bags burst. Whenever it was, it sat in heat."

Cons: "Engine was super loud on takeoff - to the point where passengers were looking around worried that something wasn't right. Eventually it seemed to be switched off once we hit the clouds and we seemed to sort of coast quietly for a minute or so - also alarming to everyone judging by the non-verbal behavior that suddenly everyone was exhibiting. Then it came back on again but only at half the volume. Nothing was mentioned about it by the captain or crew so I spent the rest of the flight wondering if the engine was going to give out part way through the flight."

Cons: "I checked in online. I PAID for our bags. When I get to the check in counter to check my bags, I have to use their computers to CHECK IN and PAY AGAIN! They charged me $100 for my 1 bag! Ridiculous! And we were NOT allowed a carry on; only 1 personal bag."
Cons: "It was HORRIBLE. They had to book us on another flight to Houston and then to Dallas because there were no more direct flights. We arrived at the check in counter at 10 AM. Flight left at 10:40. We were only 5 minutes late for the cutoff after a 15 hour flight with delays that were NOT our fault but were the fault of the airline itself. Our seats were terrible going back and they did not even offer us any kind of voucher to help with the added time and stress of having to wait for another flight and take an extra one."

Cons: "I called bc of weather issues, and it said you may have a wait time more than 30 minutes. I waited 2 hrs and 45 mins without any update on how much longer it would be. The website told me to go to the airport the day before to see a representative. I went to the airport and they told me call back or come back the next day. Information was all inaccurate and after another 55 min wait on the phone (stated “more than 30 mins) i got an agent and rebooked my ticket."
Pros: "Plane did its job - got us from Point A to Point B safely. United Customer service dept in Chicago was helpful and cheerful."

Cons: "Boarding could be a little frustrating because groups 3 4 5 were 1 lane and there wasn't a lot of room in the airport. Also, there wasn't a lot of time to get from one side of the airport to the other to stop at the restroom and get a real meal, since there was nothing served on the previous flight. Due to turbulence there was nothing served on the flight, which is beyond the control of the crew. They knrw ahead of time about the turbulence, perhaps they could have quickly passed out pretzels or cookie before the flight took off."

Cons: "The 4 hour delay. First, the plane was running late from San Francisco (about 2 hours late). The second delay was due to someone putting way too much fuel in the plane so we had to wait for the excess fuel to be removed. Then the flight attendants ended their shift so we had to wait for another crew that was flying in from Denver. This involved us having to remove all of our things from the overhead bin and get off the plane and re-board about an hour and half later. I was supposed to make it to Dallas at 8:45 and instead didn't make it until after 12:30. It was extremely inconvenient and unpleasant. I have not experienced such a nightmare before with any previous airlines."

Cons: "Dear United Airlines, It is my dearest wish that reading the following inflicts upon you at least a fraction of the stress, frustration, and pain that I have been through traveling with you today- you absolutely abhorrent excuse for a company. Due to your incomparable incompetence my arrival was inexcusably delayed almost 12 hours. An account follows: For a company who's customer service is already hanging by a very thin thread you would think that you would be doing everything to make your flights as smooth and pleasant as possible. Shall I elaborate on the utter frustration and boredom of being trapped in the San Francisco airport facing not one, not two, but what became SEVEN delays? Delays that have been caused by runway maintenance- a condition which someone in your company would have known about well before I got to the airport and that you simply did not plan for. A almost FOUR HOUR delay that could have been easily avoided if you just had things together and scheduled your planes around the affected runways. And let's not forget the additional delay caused when your flight crew simply couldn't be found to come to the gate so we could start getting underway! But no, I think the absolutely outstanding quintessential experience that defines flying with United airlines is this: After the above delays myself and my fellow passengers were finally able to board our flight- only to be told by the captain that there would be another brief delay while we waited for ANOTHER crew member because one of the pilots was near the end of their union hours. We sit on the plane stuck for another 20 minuets or so, only to be told they can't find anyone, and can we please get off the plane because our WHOLE FLIGHT is CANCELED. The kiosk I get to try and fix this is uncrowded but understaffed and run by clearly undertrained employees. The ones I'm dealing with keep having to ask each other for help, and give advice/plans that contradict one another. One of theme even takes what seems to be a personal call while 'assisting' me. When I finally get ahold of a supervisor I have to plead to get the next flight out of this godforsaken place, which I am reluctantly given as its with one of your competitors. Talking with other customer and airport staff is sounds very much like you are delaying/canceling flights for your own personal gain or at least not correcting flights around the situation to squeeze more money from the situation) it becomes quite clear that you are not only still incapable of accepting any real measure of accountability but entirely disgracefully unorganized. Almost 12 hours later I do finally make it home- thanks to American Airlines. Only to have the utter displeasure of one last interaction with United wherein when I pick up my bag your employees insist that I was delayed due to the weather and it wasn't your fault. It was entirely absolutely your fault."

Then they decide to turn the air on full blast right before departure. So they had the air off the whole time for what? To save money? We all were sweating. So ridiculous."

Pros: "I am Brenda Crooks, Zachary's mom. I am the one that actually took the trip. I went to Connecticut to see my son, Samuel, get his white coat for medical school. I will never forget my experience in Newark, New Jersey. I met a wonderful woman named Yevette who checked in my luggage. She is to be commended on going above and beyond the call of duty. I don't know her last name. She knew I was very upset because I was leaving my 22 year old baby in Connecticut. She sympathized and comforted me. She put her arms around me and assured me that everything was going to be alright. She is a wonderful woman with a big heart. She is the true meaning of a lady. I will never forget her and thank her so very much for being so gracious and kind to me."

I really liked how they waited till literally the last min an said your bag that you have used on your 8,564 previous flights to date. Is now 65$ to put in the same exact spot you were going to put your bag to begin with.. the same bag I’ve used for a shade under two decades of travel."

Bought ticket day in advance with insurance for this reason. checked in several hours in advance itenary machine could not print duplicate messed up several people days with not putting us on our flight. An then charging me 100$ more to secure the seat on the next flight. When all they had to do was print the item ready. I had meetings scheduled days in advance I missed that were worth 50x this entire ticket. An the airline doesn’t even know who it is that sells the insurance.? That’s a strait up scam.. worst airline in years. From the experience an the staff all the way around I was embarrassed to say I used this airline. If I had to guess on anything I think it’s close to being the next airline to hit the scrap yard. No one in this air line is committed to they’re work. I’ve always said “ Experience is the best teacher in anything”. An I’ve learned enough from this one...."

I called to modify my flight because lax traffic, after a myriad of options which included a 20hr flight (3hr non stop is what I had) or driving to Vegas to catch a 17hr flight, I was told “well at least your ticket was cheap” by their customer service agent. Worst airline out there, do not use them. On my flight to lax I see how they conveniently charge you less for your bags at the ticketing area where you have no way to check how big your bag is because there isn’t a receptacle like most airlines have to check them. So if you take the chance of your bag being considered a personal item vs a carry on (that costs $55) then you will surely find that receptacle at the actual gate to check your bag where they will charge you $100 no matter what. Perfect setup for the revenue they need."
Cons: "We paid for the luggage when checking in, arrive to airport had to pay again because "the system" did not see it even we show them the bank statement showing the charge is pending. No even free cup of water for 2h20 long flight. Seat was so uncomfortable, and it remind of meat packing bus in India. My friend get charge $100 per carry on luggage because they "THINK" it was too big even though after you paid you still have to carry it on airplane and fit in the overhead compartment, what a highway robber. We thought we got a deal because the ticket is cheap but they DO find a way, or two, to steal more money from you. Never ever will I flight with this airline again."
Pros: "On the plane, the seats were extremely comfortable, with a lot of leg room, even on the standard seats. Much more than on any flight I had flown with Southwest domestic. The staff was also a lot friendlier and generous. And there was plenty of room on the flight which made comfort affordable."
Cons: "They announced that the flight was departing from a different gate, but it wasn't listed on their website and there was no way to verify it on any screens. The gate that they said the flight would be departing out of instead still had the destination on it for the previous flight. Then, after that flight departed, it showed the destination for the next flight scheduled to leave out of that gate, not the one I was on. So frankly, a lot of people were very confused on where they were supposed to be waiting. Especially since, there was boarding for a different flight at the first gate, and no screen showing the flight that was being boarded there. So it caused a lot of nervousness for a lot of us, not being sure where we were supposed to be and afraid we would miss our boarding call."

Both flights were late for takeoff, which was very inconvenient, and lastly I do not think your airline prices justify charging $3 for something to drink! I paid about $90 for a United direct flight to Boston, where I had free drinks, and yet I paid $150 through you guys to take two flights home as you had no direct flights back. I will never fly Spirit Airlines again. Your flights are not cheap enough either to justify charging $90 for two checked bags. Good luck, but I would rather take United."
Pros: "I had a bad experience which I had not had in my life. First of all this airline delayed in Phoenix to Dallas about one and half hour, which I accepted cause one of my agent called me before. I missed my connection at Dallas to Fort Launderdale, I stayed at the airport for 12 hours. On my way back to Phoenix they did the same thing. I went to customer service at Fort Launderdale airport to complain about it nobody cared. imagine you delayed your customer for two times and you don't want hear her/his concern?"

Cons: "When we arrived, I needed wheelchair assistance. I was picked up on the gangplank, and taken to the gate across from our arrival and LEFT THERE. No offers of help after that. I had a 3 hour layover, and finally Alfonso asked if I needed additional assistance. No one else was I interested in helping me get to food or a restroom. During the course of my layover, I heard over 6 flights have gate changes. Ours also was changed...at the time we should've been boarding. No explanation or apology for inconvenience. And again, I was LEFT THERE with no assistance. I finally flagged someone down to get a wheelchair and take me to the new gate, where I was LEFT AGAIN. I finally got up and walked to a restroom in my own (in great pain). The info for our flight remained on the screen at the old gate, with no mention of a gate change, and the new gate had NO information posted about our flight anywhere...which led to a great deal of confusion, chaos, and angry patrons. The gate change also caused us to board 30 min late. The Spirit employees were hard to find (laughing and hanging out in a closed-off area behind the desk). They were not friendly, helpful, or even understanding about the situation. I asked to be the last one on the plane (needing wheelchair assistance), and was told no, with no kindness or explanation. The flight attendants on this flight were not any better than the ines in the flight before...only w/o the funny commentary. And, another long flight with no entertainment, comfort, or friendly assistance. When we arrived at DFW, there were storms (that would've been avoided if we had left Orlando in time) that kept us in a holding pattern for an hour and a half ON TOP of a two and a half hour flight. The flight attendants used this time as a way to make MORE money for the airline by charging money for any food/drinks during this time...even water. We were on that cramped plane for 5 HOURS and were still having to pay for water. This was one of my WORST airline experiences in over 40 years of flying."

Cons: "My return flight from Dallas to Myrtle was canceled after check in. There was poor communication as to what to do next, ultimately we were rebooked on American. If it happens to you don't be the guy yelling and screaming, we quietly asked what to do and we're rebooked amidst the chaos within 20 min or so, while the aggressors were still waiting several hours afterwards."

Cons: "I checked into my flight at 7pm the night before my 7am flight. I drove 2 hours to the airport, parked my car, took a shuttle to the terminal and arrived at the kiosk at 6:20. I attempted to print my boarding pass because it was no longer appearing on my phone; however, the kiosk printed me out a ticket saying it was unable to print my boarding pass. When I approached a spirit employee, they told me I could no longer go to the terminal because my reservation had been canceled at 6:15 due to tardiness. In turn, the next best thing they said they could do for me was for $99 get me on the flight the next day. So due to me being 40 minutes early for my flight instead of 45 minutes I lost my reservation, had to pay $99, lost a day of vacation, and the money for my hotel tonight. Worst airline experience I've ever had."

Cons: "They wanted to charge for everything we had, including the purse that my companion was carrying. I found out later that our backpacks and purse were under their posted "Guidelines." When she told us that the baggage fees would be almost $400 for the two of us, I said "You are insane." and we rented a car and drove 15 hours instead... with car rental and gas and hotel, we still spent less than the baggage fees! When I called Spirit to complain. I was told that the gate agent was trying to overcharge us, but that there was nothing that could be done. They would not refund the cost of the tickets (Only $144) or offer any travel credit. I will never use Spirit Air"
Cons: "Spirit airlines is PATHETIC. I got to Phx airport to catch a flight to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) at 2 am. At 1230 am they told me it was cancelled. I asked why and they said "we don't know." They put me on a flight with another airline at 5 am to FLL for free so I didn't mind so much, mistakes happen. When I went to catch my FLL>PHX 4 days later they said they had no flight for me. When I asked why, after showing my itinerary ($320 round trip), they said I was a no show to my first flight. After explaining what happened they said "oh they accidentally cancelled the wrong flight then because you don't have a FLL>PHX flight but you will be reimbursed half the $320. After buying the next FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR ONE WAY FLIGHT (I'm military and needed to be back the next day) and getting back to PHX finally, I called spirit to ask what their explanation was. They said "you were displayed as a no show and you will not be receiving a refund." I payed $320 to NEVER get on one single spirit airline plane. Find a new airline"
Cons: "My jofirst experience with Spirit will be my last. I was flying out to be the best man at my friends wedding on a Thursday evening when due to a mechanical issue we had to get off of the plane. My flight was from PHX to Dallas then continuing on to Fort Lauderdale. Since we had a two hour delay at PHX, they scheduled another plane to leave Dallas on time to Fort Lauderdale. They informed us that since they do not have any partner airlines they could not get us reassigned. We would either have to take a refund or we could go to Dallas and then wait until 5pm on Saturday to make it to Fort Lauderdale. I also had a seat upgrade, and they told me If I wanted to go to Dallas and wait, they would not have an upgraded seat available for me and they would not be able to refund me the upgraded price even though they would not be able to provide me the service. So I got a refund and went home. Needless to say I will pay extra next time to fly a reliable carrier. Thank you Spirit Airlines for making me miss my best friends wedding."
Cons: "I was extremely disappointed when I arrived at the LA airport and was notified that my flight was delayed and therefore I would not make the connecting flight. I asked for Spirit Airline to help come up with a solution. The agents at LAX kept me at the counter for over an hour making me miss my original flight to Dallas. All the Spirit agents kept saying is that corporate doesn't allow them to help. Only option was a refund or flight out of LAX 12hrs after my original flight and take a red eye. I was at the airport with (2) children under the age of 10. The people for Spirit had poor attitudes and lacked any effort to help come up a solution. I ended up having to book a same day flight from Delta Airlines. Delta flew out at 1pm. The (2) kids and myself were at the airport at 9am to catch the 10am flight from Spirit. Long day for us."
Pros: "I slept while onboard through both legs. I didn't want to be awake for the flight after the booking expirences."
Cons: "On the outbound leg from Dallas I volunteered to move seats for weight and balance reasons at Spirit's request. My return leg was canceled by the gate agent or the system had me as a no show. I tried to check in for the return leg and was unable. I called to get this resolved and got a CSA that didn't understand airline travel or English not sure which. (One example was I spelled my confirmation code 5 times both phonetically and in plain language) I tried to explain that my return leg was cancel for some reason when I volunteered for the seat adjust on the outbound leg. She continued to ask me to book and make a new reservation. I asked for a supervisor and received no help. Decided the best course of action was to hang up and try to get someone else. After navigating the voice prompts again I finally got someone who asked me for proof I was on the outbound. I informed him no one saves the boarding passes he needs to check the manifest the TSA requires of all airlines. He backed off after he understood that I knew the system and reactivated my return leg. It is still a mystery to me why my return leg was canceled after the airline requested me to move seats. It seems Spirit have saved money on front line employee training and saved a good bit on off shore CSA call center. Last time I'll fly Spirit and I'm posting it everywhere I can. I'll see you on the internet. Spirit Airlines-HC6N2Q"

Cons: "The Spirit web site was not functioning properly when I tried to check-in for my flight and get boarding passes. I tried repeatedly to do this in the 24 hours prior to departure without success (and wasting a lot of time). Then later, while waiting in the long line at the airport to check my bags, the employees at the counter announced that their computers just went down. For 30 minutes increasingly agitated customers waited for the computers to function again so they could check their bags. This computer failure resulted in a late departure. For my return trip, again, IT competency at Spirit. Again their *&(^!&@! web site wouldn't work get me to the page to print my boarding pass."
Pros: "Spirit claims to be the cheapest airline, but charges over $50 for carry on items. The day of my flight, the lines to check in were out the door at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. The kiosks were all down & the employees were shouting at everyone to direct them. If a simple question was asked, the Spirit employees would snap & move on to the next person, without really helping. I was late to my flight because of wrong information that was given to me and I almost did not make it in time. Just like any other airline these days, no food is given for free. The seats are the bare minimum."
Pros: "That I arrived to my destination in time and as scheduled."
Cons: "There was no indication anywhere in the reservation process of the costs of bag checks and the "privilege" of a carry on. I was also never sent an email prompting me to check in online and check bags there. (I'm told it's rather cheap if you do it that way) Instead, I was greeted with a 49 dollar fee for my carry on, and 53 dollar fee for my checked bag. That was bumped up another 30 dollars when I discovered bags above 45 lbs are charged extra on spirit. I ended spending more than twice the value of my ticket just for bags, for markups I was never told of and could not of reasonably anticipated as a consumer. This, combined with less than professional conduct from spirit flight attendants, fellow passengers, and the ridiculously uncomfortable conditions on the plane, means I will never be flying with spirit again, and will trust kayak much less. As a comprehensive trip planning service, kayak should be able to generate plane travel costs, and have options to include associated costs such as baggage, with the price of the ticket in flight price tracking. This is a necessary feature for any company that provides a service like Kayak."
Pros: "Nothing--there is literally nothing to like about this airline. They display a cheaper fare than other airlines and call it their "Bare Fare" but you better not pack more than a small backpack otherwise you end up paying double the ticket price in services charges and baggage fees!"
Cons: "Spirit's endless amounts of extra hidden costs and ridiculous baggage fees meant that I ended up paying just as much for my airfare as I did to 1) check my bags, 2) print my boarding pass and 3) pay for the hidden services charges to do all of the above at the gate (instead of predicting exactly how many luggage/carry-on items and their exact weight over five months in advance of my trip, when I initially purchased my ticket online). You'll have to purchase water on the plane if you get thirsty. I would not be the least bit surprised if Spirit started charging a fee to use the bathroom on the plane! AVOID THIS AIRLINE if you need to check a bag, or if your carry-on is larger than a small backpack and/or purse! Plus, the interior of their new fleet has decreased space between rows so you have less legroom than ever (I'm 5'5" and 125 lbs--I had no room to move). And the final straw for me: I paid a premium price for a flight that left AFTER 9:00 AM. Less than 48 hours before departure, Spirit changed our flight to 6:05 AM; a time I had specifically filtered out of my options when searching for a flight! And no, there was absolutely no refund or apologies for the inconvenience."

Cons: "Online check-in did not work, app check-in did not work, kiosk check-in did not work. Despite efforts to save money, I was forced to pay over $110 in additional fees. Service counter attendants were not friendly. I asked if I could fly standby on an earlier flight since I had gotten to the airport 4 hours early. I was told "This is not Southwest, you can't get on an earlier plane without paying $120 for it". Flight was changed to a new gate but wasn't updated on the monitor. I had to check flight aware to see what gate we were at. Flight attendants were rude and boasted about being the youngest flight crew in the sky, which is nothing to boast about. There are many veterans of the sky that exhibit amazing customer service and flight expertise. This Moto degrades those who have spent 20 + years in the sky making sure we are safe and comfortable. I would rather have a former fighter pilot with combat experience flying my plane. So spirit airlines, do I think you being young is an advantage over the other airlines, No. I care about customer service and safety. And I have yet to feel that from your airline. From the check-in counter to the flight attendants, the staff treats customers without respect and then charges you for it. I'm done."
Pros: "I booked a flight to Colorado for a wedding. I'm poor, so every little bit helps. The cabin crews both times were cheerful and friendly."
Cons: "I bought two checked bags (one for there, one for back). I didn't want to spend the money, but I was in the bridal party (thankfully able to use one of my old dresses), so I had to have the extra space. But at the airport I discovered that the bag I was bringing was instead able to be brought onboard as a free "personal item." The people at the counter assured me that I would get a refund. Well, no refund. I get a "credit" for free checked bags, which I have to use within the next two months or it expires! How can I possibly afford another ticket, do they think their low prices attract jet-setters? This is actually not a good thing for me, I really am poor (like, I had to give up lunch for a month in order to afford a checked bag, poor), and I am very unhappy about this. I will not fly Spirit again. I hope they enjoy my $60."

Cons: "I had a flight booked a month in advance and I drove 10 hours to drop off my children with their grandparents so my man & I could take a vacation to Los Angelas. When I got to the airport they informed me that "I" had made changes to my reservation so it was cancelled and they gave me a credit for $300 even though I paid $450 for our flights. When I asked why I couldn't get a refund instead of a credit the lady told me that it was apparently because I booked through a third party, which is not true. I'm a member of spirit and I booked straight through their website. She told me there's no one I can talk to and that she can not help me and gave me a number to call. So I'm stuck at the airport with no help. (Now keep in mind I've already paid for a hotel and a car in LA that I will not get a refund for) finally we decided we'd have to take a flight to the next destination or we could not go on vacation. So we ended up having to go to Vegas and pay for the difference on top of a hotel. This is a joke!"

Cons: "This is my 4th bad experience with Spirit (I'm a glutton for punishment). I've yet to have a flight that was on time...something is usually broken on the plane (very nice to hear before boarding...if you board at all). It may seem like a great idea to lock in a great rate for the initial flight, but after fee upon fee...it just turns into an uncomfortable flight next to Bob who is complaining the whole time about his FIRST experience. I keep thinking I'll give them another try, but unfortunately this was my last attempt. Catch ya on the other side, Spirit."
Cons: "The flight was delayed nearly 5 hours due to mechanical problems. As an early morning flight, the mechanical issues were known in advance--the plane did not arrive as scheduled the night before--yet passengers were not notified until check in at the airport. We could have made other arrangements (or slept until a normal hour) if we had been promptly notified. The gate agents were not understanding, and no accommodation--such as complimentary soft drinks--was made for our inconvenience. I felt like Spirit wasted my day."
Pros: "Boarding and exiting were somewhat rapid. Got my bag rapidly at Lax. But...."
Cons: "This is the worst carrier I have ever flown. I will never never fly them again. I'm not sure what there business model is: "fly us once, then you'll know to never fly us again?" Are there ever repeat spirit customers? So strange. I get the bare fare concept, but who flys with no luggage at at? The nit picking things. Money for this, money for that. I just sucks. If you read this, save yourself the trouble. I flew them once, will never again. It was so terrible and uncomfortable I don't have the time to list out all of the shortcoming. I would avoid them at all costs, you can always drive."

Cons: "RUDE RUDE RUDE workers "helping" customers as the nightmare of checking in and receiving boarding pass. Then was told I didn't have a seat for the flight until someone didn't show up, EVEN THOUGH I had purchased a seat the night before. Almost didn't get on the flight because of that. Then if your bag is over 40lbs you pay an additional $30 to check it in. I ALWAYS fly Southwest and tried this airlines for the first and LAST TIME. All workers are rude and obviously don't want to be there either. Spirit airlines I AM DONE WITH YOU."
Pros: "I got on the flight eventually and made it home to Dallas."
Cons: "The crew was extremely rude. My flight was delayed and I received many notifications notifying me of the time change. I arrived with plenty of time to get through security for the new time of the flight. When checking in however the crew told me that I had missed my flight. The plane had not left, the doors weren't closed, and the flight hadn't even boarded. I was devastated. They said I couldn't get a refund and there was no way they could let me board, I needed to arrive an hour early before the original time not the new time. Eventually I was able to speak with a manager after 4 other people arrived with the same issue trying to get on the flight, and I got on the plane. The ticket agent that I initially spoke to was incredibly rude though and had no compassion, nor did she even attempt to do anything to help me. Will not be flying spirit again."
Cons: "Flew bwi to download and as we were landing the flight attendant announced flight connections and then she said "all of you going to New Orleans can't tell you want happened to your flight over the intercom". Then they said nothing else. About 20 of us went to the gate e18 for the flight and the gate sign said On Time and the plane was there however it was 1pm and boarding was supposed to start and no gate agents and no crew ever showed up. A nearby gate said they cancelled the flight. No emails or text from Spirit. So I had to rebook on American to New Orleans and run across tour terminal C for a 149pm flight. Will be asking for a refund and will never book Spirit again and may decide to use kayak less for flights and just use standard United or delta direct websites. Joe"
Cons: "After being told we were circling our destination due to weather, we were deferred to another airport. This was fine until we were told we'd get sent out on the next plane... Which was also told to the other plane that got deferred (spirit) . Two planes all pushing to get on one. We were then forced to leave the gate with the promise of buses awaiting us. After 4 hours waiting for buses (midnight) I had to spend my own money to rent a car and drive 4.5 hours to my original destination. No offer to be put up in a hotel was offered, nor was an offer to catch another flight. Instead we were told to pay and extra $100 to be placed on standby for the following nights flight to our final destination."
Pros: "I took the flight from Boston to Dallas. Because of the extreme weather in Dallas, the plane was not allowed to land in Dallas,which occurred to all the other airlines. However, spirit is the worst to deal with the issue. They flied is us to Houston at around 6:00pm and kept us waiting in the gate for the reopen airport although they already knew the flight got cancelled. There was not clear announcement about their plans. Finally, I got information from other passengers, they provided two options: either refund or take their compliment bus to Dallas. l decided to take the bus. Again, no announcement of where and when the bus would arrive. After 3hr, two buses arrived, but not enough seats for all the passengers. I did not get in and waited for the next round of buses. Until midnight, the buses still had not arrived. I gave up and stayed the hotel near the airport instead. However, AA airlines already sent four buses to take care of their passengers efficiently before 11:00pm"
Pros: "There wasn't anything I really liked about my trip on Spirit."
Cons: "From the curbside to the gate you are on your own. No skycaps to take your bags at the curb even though you've already paid for bags. And even though you've already paid for bags you still have to stand in a long line at the counter to check in. This is my 3rd time flying with Spirit since 2011. I thought the first 2 trips having issues was a fluke but no, it seems fairly consistent that you will not leave on time, the staff will not be friendly and nothing is complimentary...even water! The seats are extremely small and there is no way to recline them. Some of their planes have advertisement pasted through the entire length of the cabin, the crew really pushed applying for their credit card, all snacks must be paid for I mean, the message is clear, profits first, customers are to be used to meet their goals. At the end of the day, customers are lured in by seemingly lower prices but it's all smoke and mirrors. When you're done with all of the a la cart items, the price is the same as all of the other airlines, with inferior service, in my opinion. I will not be flying with Spirit Airlines again. I will spend my money with airlines that value me as a customer first."
Cons: "It was terrible. They didn't even announce the flight departure properly, so we (and several more people) missed the boarding. They rescheduled us to another flight but it disrupted our plans and caused a lot of inconvenience. Also, they charge for literally everything, I've never seen $42 fee for checked baggage, or even $55 or $100 if one doesn't make it to buy it online. Weight of 40 lbs. is woefully insufficient as travelers from Europe will have to remove over 10 pounds from their baggage as normal airlines allow 23 kg."
Cons: "We prepaid luggage on-line and the check in at counter still took 30 minutes because employee at counter couldn't see proof on her end that we had pre paid. We traveled with our three kids under 8 and they would do nothing to seat us next to each other. We couldn't check in on-line so we were considered late check in, despite checking in at the airport 2 hours before the flight. We boarded and sat on the plane for an hour then deplaned due to faulty weather radar. 3 hour delay. Still no help to seat our family together. Very swaying and bumpy take off and landing. Seats don't recline. No drinks or snacks passed out, only for a charge. Cheapest airline ever. Will never fly again on Spirit. Flight home also delayed over an hour. Oh, and luggage max is 40, not 50 lbs., and they charge per bag per direction. They also charge you to book seats next to each other, despite us booking our flights months in advance and checking in 2 hours prior."

Cons: "That they nickel-and-dime customers so that they get that low price point. That drinks (water!) cost. That the fee to check a bag increased for the return trip. That there's only 1 carry-on allowed. That Spirit isn't allowed to send mobile boarding passes to your phone. That Spirit isn't allowed to do TSA pre-check. That I would have had to make an account with them, including handing over lots of personal info, just to check in online. Really the whole trip I was thinking I should have paid $20 more and gone with an airline I like. I will next time."

Cons: "Flight was hours and hours late, with multiple flights cancelled before all piled into this one. Worse, poor communication alerted us flight was late, then after we delayed leaving for airport accordingly a new message said flight was on time after all. On arrival at airport, flight was indeed late--but more than two hours later than originally stated. Poor relatives had to pick up my son at arrival airport at 1:00 in the morning. We will never, ever, fly your airline again, and will tell everyone how unhappy we were with trying to save a little money with you."
Cons: "We were unable to board out flight. We arrived at the airport 50 minutes before our flight. We tried but were unable to print our boarding passes at home. When we got there we waited behind 2 couples before getting up to the attendant. When we got to the front they told us we were too late and could not take our flight. We were 44 minutes before our flight and they close their system at 45 minutes. We called customer service and they told us the supervisor could open the flight and let us on if we showed her that we tried to print our boarding passes and could not. We had a picture and showed her but she did not care. She was not letting us on our flight for anything. I don't know if she was on a power trip or what but I have NEVER experienced such poor customer service and unwillingness to help a customer in my life. They then told us they could book us on the next flight out, which was the next day. We went to American and flew American. They were super helpful and got us on a flight out 2 hours later. Thankfully for American we only missed the first night of our conference and not a full day, like Spirit would have had us miss. I will never fly spirit again after that experience."

Cons: "Didn't like that I have to print my boarding pass and that an eboarding pass doesnt work on the scanners. That was not communicated well to me. The gate changed 30 mins prior to the take off time of my flight and not a single passenger was informed of this. There were no announcements made. They did not even care to change the flight information display at the gate behind the counter. While passengers were waiting to board, a jet blue crew member starts to announce boarding for their flight to JFK while its displaying spirit airlines flight to dallas. The jet blue crew has no information to provide to us. A spirit airline crew memeber SHOULDVE MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT reg the gate change at the original gate or they should remove the spirit airline flight display from the screen. And all this 20 mins prior to take off. And I was told to stand in line that was a mile long to have this simple question answered 'whats the current gate'. The crew could've been a bit more informative, less rude and more approachable."

Was told "get off plane and fly with another airline if you don't like it" several times by attendant just for asking for something to clean seat and floor with myself. Then I was thrown off for objecting to such disrespect ful treatment. I will pay triple, double, quadruple to fly with another airline from now on. This airline and its employees are beyond rude and disrespectful. Do not go anywhere near this company. I was warned not to fly with them and I thought it could not be so bad. It was 100 times worse!!!"

Cons: "We didn't care for buying tickets and then getting charges for everything including choosing a seat. The web site was horrible and not mobile friendly. Customer service over the phone read from a script and couldn't really take care of anything for you.Also, Spirit expects you to have access to a computer and printer on your vacation. It "saves you money" to do it online. Yes, most hotels have access to those...assuming you're staying in one. Why can't I just check in on my phone and handle everything else at the airport like I just did on Alaska for my return flight? Why do your flight attendants tell us twice to keep our seats upright when they don't even recline? And, they spent most of flight playing games on their phones/tablets. Cup o noodle!? Really!? Flight industry is tough, I know, and you guys are the bare minimum. Head in expecting a nightmare flight and its not so bad."
Pros: "Plane was clean and the crew was friendly and professional. Spirit refunded part of my ticket when my connecting flight was cancelled."
Cons: "After flying Spirit Airlines for the first time, I came to realize a cheap flight doesn't save you money in the long run. Flight delays, cancellations, and added costs meant I didn't save any money flying with Spirit. I booked a flight from Cleveland to Denver with a lay over in Dallas. My lay over in Dallas was canceled due to weather. I understand that the airline doesn't have any control over the weather but they can control how they treat their customers. The best Spirit could do was offer me a flight to my final destination 21/2 days later. Meaning I would be stuck in Dallas for 2 days and I would have to pay for a hotel out of pocket. I ended up paying for a hotel overnight ($171) and booking a flight first thing in the morning with Frontier airlines ($89). Coming back, once again there was problems in Dallas during my lay over. The flight was delayed 3 hours."
Cons: "The flight was delayed then cancelled. We were given the choice of refund that will arrive a week later or to take a flight a 9 pm tomorrow. The reason for the cancellation was said to me a crew "time-out" that was caused by the rain. There was no other compensation for the cancellation nor did they get ahold of everyone to let them know it was cancelled. After dealing with the gate I found the customer service desk and waited for 2 hours just to talk to someone and was told nothing they could do."
Pros: "I liked that the plane was structurally sound and well built and that the pilots knew what they were doing - it went up, flew and landed! SUCCESS!!"
Cons: "I remember when SOUTHWEST came onto the scene, people said "It's a cattle call airlines". Well, there's a new leader in budget flying - seats don't recline, if you are over 6'2" your femur will barely fit in the seat space between rows, $3 for anything to drink, and because it is cheap (least expensive) it has all the personalities/characters 'least expensive' will attract. . . and heck, I was one of them! People are great, but when we are crammed into spaces, our egos and inner-judges get all ramped up, and there were plenty of these moments. Nice, friendly airline crew, from front counter to attendants, which also comes with the lack of experience and polish of veteran airline employees. In the future I will ony fly Spirit when I am country hopping and need the least expensive series of flights to get from point A to point B to Point C, and SPIRIT was a leg in that journey. Pros: "Once I actually took a Spirit Flight my experience was fine."
Cons: "I missed my initial flight due to traffic & was only 10 minutes past boarding time. The Reps at the counter were helpful and called multiple times to the gate to see if they would let me board, but they would not. The counter did fail to inform me by not making the going flight that my return flight is automatically cancelled. Missing that information, I then booked a one way flight thru another airline b/c Spirit did not have an available flight for that day. I continued to get normal check in emails for my return flight only to find out once I got to the airport to get my boarding pass that return flight had been cancelled. I was told by the counter rep that I needed to check the online agreement. At least a courtesy email would have be nice. So I ended up having to book another one way flight to return, this time trough Spirit, but it was 4 hours later. I also did not get credit on my original flight paying for checked baggage for the return trip even though I paid $40 going and $40 returning. Needless to say, I completely wasted money booking my original flights since I had to book two other flights to go and return."
Cons: "The crew on my first flight were very accommodating and friendly, but on my second flight they were NOT so friendly and everyone around me was talking about how rude and unfriendly they were. This was my first time flying on Spirit and I asked for a pillow and the response I received from the Flight Attendant was "What!....we don't have pillows" Another reason I was unhappy was because on my connecting flight from Texas to Chicago we were delayed on the plane and NOBODY told us what the problem was and why we were not moving to the runway. After 42 minutes we were told "we are waiting for paperwork from Maintenance" that is it! Not how long they expect the wait to be or come around and offer us some drinks or snacks. The Flight Attendants DID NOT even walk the aisle....not even once! We finally took off after 75 minute delay. It was if we were on the plane alone...this is not how I would have handled the situation. I also obtained the Spirit credit card to rack up some miles, but not I am giving it a second thought!"
Cons: "The airline continued to delay the evening flight all day. I called and asked if the airline could accommodate me on another flight to get me to my destination but said they couldn't. They only offered to refund my money and offered it very quickly as if this happens often. After delaying the flight all the way until midnight I arrived at the airport to check in and once again see if spirit could move me to a different flight or airline. The lady at the counter laughed at me and proceeded to tell me no. The flight ended up getting canceled and the next flight I could be moved to was over 24 hours later. Needless to say I ended up taking my money back and will not be using the gracious $50 credit the airline offered me. After checking the other flight that left later the weekend it was plagued with massive delays also. Not sure how this airline stays in business."
Cons: "Spirit airlines is full of hidden costs and fine print. First 80 dollars (for carry-on and seat) was added to each ticket plus 59 dollars to "to join"! Then we only arrived 35 minutes early for our check in. Listened to our flight being called while they made us stand against the wall) Because I hadn't checked in online (stayed at a place with no printer access) they refused to let us check in and made us pay an additional 360 to rebook! Next flight was 5 days away! Ended up spending all day from 6:30am-11:30pm trying to fly standby. Flew standby in the morning by being at the airport at 515 am! NIGHTMARE Liz"
