Cons:found a bag of chips in the glove compartment from an earlier renter

Pros:Avis staff in Jersey City were courteous, polite and helpful.
Cons:Car had not been cleaned prior to rental pick up. Litter and debris was found on the floor throughout the vehicle. The car did not have floor mats. Sticky liquid had been spilled on the console and not wiped down.
Pros:It was convenient to not have to go to Newark airport to rent a car. And relatively inexpensive compared to taxi prices.
Cons:Trying to find the check in location because it was located inside mall and no one was answering the phone when I called to clarify.
Pros:The gentleman who took care of us is the model for how you should hire. Super nice, funny, wanting to please. It left me with the rare feeling of wanting to spend the time to write a review like this. We were extremely satisfied with our experience. I have since forgotten his name, but it was Tuesday, Dec 20th at 11am in your JC office on 1st St.
Cons:The signage outside of the building is poor. Drove around a little before realizing where the entrance is.
Cons:One tire is almost flat.. had to stop in cold and snow for tire pressure.. car is not clean.. it has trash from previous customers.. nobody from AVIS attends phone call.. it goes straight to custo.er care.. AVIS employee at the counter in Newport mall, Newjersey is speaking over his personal phone when we went to pickup the car.. he does not have minimum sense to hang up the call and speak to customers. It is a bitter experience

Cons:We had a reservation but there were no cars available (for us as well as a lot of other customers). After waiting over an hour, we had to get a car from somewhere else and pay more money due to the last minute nature of the rental. Thanks Avis. My question is this: if you knew in the morning that you had no rental cars, why not get in touch with people so they could make alternate plans?
Pros:The pick up location was hard to find and the drop off location was completely unmarked. The personnel were great and the car itself were impeccable.
Pros:Garage is close for residents in Jersey City who do not have a car. Garage has Saturday and Sunday hours for those who only want the car for a day over the weekend.
Cons:No overnight drop off box. So if you return the car overnight, you still have to show up at the rental center the next morning to return you car.
