Cons: One tire is almost flat.. had to stop in cold and snow for tire pressure.. car is not clean.. it has trash from previous customers.. nobody from AVIS attends phone call.. it goes straight to custo.er care.. AVIS employee at the counter in Newport mall, Newjersey is speaking over his personal phone when we went to pickup the car.. he does not have minimum sense to hang up the call and speak to customers. It is a bitter experience

Pros: The staff was nice, and helpful. However, they seemed unwilling to override Avis' greedy policies.
Cons: 1) First car didn't start/work. 2) By the time I collected second car, it was 9:20PM, yet they didn't change my contract from 8:30PM. Therefore if I hadn't decided to keep car one more day, I would have been charged $30 for an hour of extra rental, for exceeding Avi' ridiculously short 20-min (!!) grace period. That grace period is especially ridiculous where one has to park in garage and then walk to a distant rental counter.

Pretty Good. Recommend overnight drop off box.
Pros: Garage is close for residents in Jersey City who do not have a car. Garage has Saturday and Sunday hours for those who only want the car for a day over the weekend.
Cons: No overnight drop off box. So if you return the car overnight, you still have to show up at the rental center the next morning to return you car.

Great unless there is a problem
Pros: The car was fine, and checking in and out was a quick and simple process.
Cons: Within 2 hours of returning the car, we realized that we had left a pair of sunglasses behind. I called the location repeatedly around 8pm (it was scheduled to be open until 9:30), but noone answered. Called Avis 3 more times - the first agent told me to call back and hit the #5 for lost and found - it didn't work. The 2nd agent put me through to customer service - which was closed. The 3rd agent told me there was nothing we could do before the next day. Then I tried to fill out an online report - which only listed Newark Airport for a location in New Jersey, when we had not picked up the car at the airport. It would not let me leave the field blank, and so I couldn't file an online report. Quite a frustrating experience, for a rather mundane (and common?) problem.
