Pros:The car was clean and fine, the process of booking was relatively smooth.
Cons:At pick-up, the woman behind the Avis counter told me she had 4 mini vans left in her fleet so i had no choice but to go with a mini van, even though I had specifically reserved a small car. After the agents brought my car from the garage, i noticed that the couple behind me got a large SUV. How was it possible they chose an SUV if all was left were minivans?? When the woman walked by as I was adjusting my seat, I asked her why this happened. She sort of stammered and said there were 3 mini vans left, and one large SUV. When I reminded her that she told me there were only 4 minivans left and that i specifically had no other choice, she stammered again that someone had specifically reserved a large SUV. This made no sense though, since I also reserved a car other than a minivan. I think I was justified in being irritated by this -- she had in essence lied to me about what was available. Another issue I encountered -- when signing up for the car, the woman told me that the vehicle had Bluetooth capabilities. When I got the car, there clearly was no bluetooth capability, and if there was, i wasn't able to locate it on the console even with her help. These issues combined really soured the start to my trip. I think it was wrong and discriminatory of the woman to decide that the couple behind me should somehow get an SUV after she misrepresented the facts to me so explicitly just a minute before. I appreciate if Kayak could pass this along to Avis.
Pros:Car was relatively new. Inside was cleaned. Dropoff was seamless. Location was convenient.
Cons:Pickup was a headache. Relatively unfriendly staff. Inconvenienced by not allowing me to pick up the car a few hours earlier than scheduled. I had to make a new reservation or pay $250 more. Absurd. Outside of car wasn't clean.
Cons:Not a huge issue, but there was a long line-up for pick-up on a Saturday morning (9:00 am) pick-up. Perhaps some sort of early warning via email might enable customers to plan better. Otherwise, excellent car experience, no price surprises.

Cons:When I returned the car early I was charged an additional $110. When asked why, the clerk told me company policy. I asked to take the car back home with me so I could return it later and she said no. Completely unacceptable.
Pros:Ease of pick u/drop off and location
Cons:The Avis agent was munching on a hash brown and handling my license and credit card with her greasy hands. While trying to talk to me with a mouthful of food. The hash brown didn't to the job because she still seemed pretty hangry + rude, as if she was doing me a favor to rent me the car. Hurrah. The car was dented, and had a transmission that slipped.
