Great location on the Charlottesville Mall. Pleasant hotel with a business-visit atmosphere. We stayed when the price was reduced, which is the only time I think the Omni is worth the money. For the orindary nightly rate (>$250-300/night), I prefer to stay at a B&B, Boars Head, or even a vacation rental.
Location is excellent, which is why we stayed there. Right on the downtown pedestrian mall. Every single member of the staff I encountered was great.. The supposed "premium" room was tiny. It's window overlooked the lobby, and it was adjacent to the elevator shaft. Considering this, I feel this hotel is over-priced and a questionable value, at least this particular room.. previous stays here were more pleasant, however, still, for Charlottesville, overpriced.
The whole place is so dated! Looks like the 70's. Bathrooms are small and cramped . Pool area and exercise plus the lobby need to be complely redone.
Exceptional service and accommodations. Great location with plenty of shops and dining steps away. No complaints.
Air conditioning was not working. Hvac unit ran all night. Room was very hot
I love the hotel's theme and decor - rustic collegiate. The bed was very comfortable and the curtains blocked out a lot of light! The location was great - just around the corner from UVA and a leisurely walk to the downtown mall (about 1 mile). The staff was welcoming and helpful. I'd definitely stay here again!
Was woken up very early, lots of banging doors, not sure if it was housekeeping staff or early travelers.
Free breakfast included I will try to summarize this as best as possible. Let's just say that they royally screwed up our reservation and the funny part is the room they messed up was for someone on the Board of the College of UVA which is right next to the school. Then not only could they not explain how it was fouled up, but even with the confirmation number they could not figure out if it was someone at central booking or the local hotel. On top of that I found out that they have people stay there that are visiting the medical school and often stay past their reservations. They will not be kicked out, so if they don't have a room for you that's just your tough luck. Basically you cannot trust that a reservation made at this hotel will be honored so tread lightly.
Location Old outdated dirty bad lights a/c
I sprung for a nicer hotel on this trip because I had some extra money and I was visiting my mom in the hospital so I was under extra stress. I wish I had of saved my money now. I know this might seem unfair but it's just because of breakfast. Why should I pay substantially more and get less out of it? Plus the prices at the breakfast bar were really over inflated; I'm a restaurant manager so I know food cost. It all felt designed to milk every penny out of me for the duration of my visit. Even the wi-fi had a faster version that cost extra. I won't stay there again. I don't like it when I over pay for something that's just ok and then don't get as much out of it as I would at cheaper places.
Location was perfect;within walking distance to pedestrian mall, free trolley. Staff friendly. As early risers, it'd be nice to have coffee brewed, available prior to 7:30 breakfast. The staff did offer to put pot, coffee out for me to make, but I was not comfortable entering their work area.
Very loud with train! And there was no real warning about that. Otherwise, a very nice stay.
This is one of the nicest Residence Inns I stay at. Very nice rooms. Very clean. Every staff member I've spoken to has been polite and helpful. I am a person who usually avoids the free breakfast at hotels because they are always terrible. I actually like it here! And the staff is very attentive to keeping things clean and organized. Their shuttle service is also very helpful and every driver has been friendly. It's a bit expensive. I understand it's downtown, but this is Charlottesville, not a town most people have heard of, so.... However, the hotel is in pristine condition, so it's really not a huge negative, as it is mostly worth the money.
