A converted motel. Good location especially for UVA athletic events. A decent room at reasonable price. Mediocre facilities and breakfast. Old fashioned bathroom. Only one person at front desk even in the morning.
Smooth check in/out process; friendly staff Air conditioner was stuck on 74 - way too warm. Room was a little cramped
Great location. Older hotel but nice accommodations. Continental breakfast is available but went next door to the diner. Would stay here again.
An older facility just one step up from a budget motel but best location near uva
Rooms must have their curtains drawn at all times to maintain privacy - that makes the room very dark & dull. Choice of cable TV channels could have been better.
Clean. Quiet despite number of groups staying. Great location for us.
Price was great for last minute needs. The breakfast was a very nice surprise, hot and good selections. The staff was out of this world. The beds could use a pillow top for a tad more comfort
Great for the location and proximity to the campus. Not elegant, but good for families with kids. A bit dingy. Beds run on the small side.
I stayed at UVA for nearly a month on-campus for a teaching seminar. For my last night in town, we stayed here, and it was excellent. Staff members were accommodating and polite. They helped us check in early. They even gave our little dog some water and treats. Even though the price was higher than normal that weekend, it was still a great value. You can't beat the proximity to UVA and the Corner. Breakfast was complimentary and great! It's an older building, but the renovations are nice! The bathrooms are tiny, but it's to be expected at an older place. Nothing too bad to say about this place, especially on a weekend when the prices are lower. Definitely good for a short stay, too.
fine for a cheap m/hotel stay. excellent on grounds/uva location. no complaints. just a simple cheap m/hotel.
Renovations were clean. Location was great! Staff was helpful.
Great location. Friendly staff. Historic feel. Bed uncomfortable. Lack of insulation under door - could hear normal hallway conversations distinctly. Blinds did not block light from outside walkway.
super friendly and professional
Great staff that went above and beyond to help us resolve an issue with a dress that was shipped there prior to our arrival. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Right on campus and gorgeous grounds
Location on campus; proximity to inner city Charlottesville A wall air conditioning unit that made the noise of a B-747 at takeoff thrust.
Charming location right on the campus of the UVA Business school. Beautiful grounds and nicely-run hotel. You won't find a pool or other amenities, if that's important to you. Also not walking distance to the outdoor mall area.
The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and pleasant. I liked the small, quiet feel to the place. I found it convenient to grab some food at the cafe. The front desk people were nice and helpful. I enjoyed the snacks in the lobby. I am glad to know that health club facilities are available. Parking was initially confusing and somewhat distant. I ran to Grounds and had to run under a narrow railroad bridge, so that made the location a bit less desirable for me.
Ideal location, staff were very friendly and accomodating, room was well furnished, bed was VERY comfortable Slight smell of cleaner noticeable in the room
Traveling from a long distance and ran into unfortunate car problems which caused me to attempt to cancel my stay. The receptionist was not empathetic to my situation and would lot refund my stay because it was within the 24hr non refundable window. Although the rate may be cheap the hotel lacks a humanistic approach to business. In the future I will never stay at another Excel Inn and Suites property.
The location was perfect - close enough for a night out at UVA hotspots but far enough for a feeling of intimacy. The bed was comfortable and the temperature of the room was perfect. Water pressure is ideal. The towels were really thin and a couple light bulbs were out. The surrounding area is very loud if you like to sleep in.
The rooms are being remodeled with new bathrooms and furniture. There is a small computer room for wifi use, but wifi is free. Location is good, restaurant across the street The rooms are very, very small. We had the cheaper room ($80) near the street, and there wasn't room for a desk. One night stand and a small dresser. And the floor slanted in one direction. The bathrooms are new, but they chose pedestal sinks which offer no counter space to put your toiletries and the toilet is a typical public toilet with power flush and no seat cover. Easy to drop something into the toilet next to the sink. Shower was nice.
