Pros: Excellent experience. Greeted by friendly and professional representatives. Love that they weren't pushy with trying to sell the insurances and gas options. I understand they need to mention, but not obnoxious pushers like many other agencies.

Cons: Made a reservation for a cargo van. Got called from them 10 mins before my pick up saying they didn't have one and there wasn't one near by. But I needed the van or a pickup. Basically that was all the help I got. I didn't get a vehicle and canceled my trip because I spent the next 3 hours trying to rent an unneeded box truck from uhaul or other places while getting screw since it was a last min deal. it's 2017 if you don't have a truck or cargo van to rent don't allow your website to rent it. It's a basic inventory function I know 16 years old that could write the code for that. What a joke .

Piece of cake
Pros: Car was ready when I got there. Salesman tried politely for upgrades but did not push. Car was clean and comfortable.
Return was even easier and everything was expedited almost too quickly. :)

Pros: They waived the drop charge at the airport!!!!
Cons: There were no cars available for my scheduled pick up. I was informed in would be called when one was available and that never happened. Had to spend more and switch companies last minute.

Got what I paid for
Pros: Happy with the cost comparable to other options. Though still think rates are too high. Car was clean. Pickup was uneventful.
Cons: Returned car about 5:45 and computers chose that time to irritate the guy behind the counter. Not his fault but he didn't handle it very well. So check out took nearly 30 minutes. And I had to walk away with no receipt. Promises of an email receipt that never came.

Not a solid company
Cons: I reserved a full size car, only 1 payless in town had a full size available 3 days before my rental started. I drove across town 36 miles, passing 15 other rental stores, including 2 payless rentals to find out they didn't have a full size available. I was travelling with my wife, 11 year old, and infant daughter to Florida. The website noted a free upgrade if my car wasn't available. I was offered a pickup truck which obviously wouldn't work for my situation, so I was then downgraded to 1 of 2 cars available, a Ford c-max or a mazda 5. I was basically told they overbooked and given a shoulder shrug. We were scheduled to leave in about 2 hours so there wasn't time to find another rental so we took the Mazda 5, which the clerk told me got mid-30's gas mileage, it was actually rated at lower 20's. My wife had to ride 15 hours with her knees against the dash in order for the rear facing child seat to be secured. The car was filthy and the seats were covered with stains and there was a slight mildew smell so I had to take the car home and run an ozone generator inside for 20 minutes before I felt it was safe to drive with my family in. After our trip I returned the can and emailed Payless, a customer service ticket was opened for me, and no one ever called me or emailed me back to check up. To be fair I was credited $20 at the time of rental because of the downgrade, I also drove a total of 100 extra miles nearly between picking up and dropping off the car which all but negated that discount. Very dissatisfied initially and even more dissatisfied that there was no reply to my complaint.

Great service unless you need roadside asst
Pros: The shopping online experience was great. Picking up the vehicle was fast and easy. It was a great vehicle and very clean when we got it. The front desk agent was helpful and nice. The price was nearly half of the competitors price!!
Cons: While on my way back home after using the vehicle over the weekend, my family got into a car accident. Totalled the vehicle. I had to call Payless roadside asst several times to get connected to an agent. The only resolution Payless had was to tow the vehicle 150 miles back from where we came from with only one person, and leave my family in the city we were passing through. Not having another option that didn't cost a whole new rental agreement, my family spent 4 hours in the nearby Target. After being towed 150 miles, I drove back 150 miles to pick up my family after exchanging vehicles at a Payless affiliate. The next day (drop-off), I told the agent I was in an accident and totalled the original vehicle. He didn't seem to care or show remorse. He just wanted to give me my final bill.

Cons: I booked the car about 8 weeks ago, but the entire rental site has been closed!
No email, no phone call, nothing until I ubered there!!!
