Avis scheduled my drop off for Labor Day then were closed, wouldn’t let me do an after hours drop off, then told me I’d be automatically be charged the extra day and if I returned it by 11 am the following day they would refund the charge if I called them back. Like this is the opposite of customer service I don’t work for Avis and they’re telling me too bad and making demands. Absolutely terrible company. I had to postpone plans in order to hold this key an extra 16 hours and return it to them. Abysmal.

They called the day before I was to leave to tell me they wouldn't have my vehicle until later than when I had it reserved for. They did scramble to get a vehicle there but it kind of threw my schedule off

Cons:

Check around the holidays to make sure the place is open, even if they show up online. I spent a lot of extra money on renting a car For only half of the time I needed it. Avis was not helpful in compensating for this.

The vehicle was not very clean. It was still wet from,I’m assuming, a wash they had just given it. It was quite dusty on the inside as well.

Awful company! They hold a huge security deposit without telling you, so using a credit card vs a debit may be the better way to go, but overall, I won't rent from them again. Customer service was awful when I called about that charge, happy to have returned the car and be done with them.

Requested car pick up at airport, upon arrival was told car was 20 minutes away requiring an Uber ride

Flight was delayed. Hertz where I had the reservation was closed by the time I arrived. Hertz airport location wouldn’t honor the reservation price nor would they credit the money toward the new reservation. Wasn’t able to reach kayak either. Entire experience was disappointing (and expensive).

I have tried to cancel this reservation several times and am still not sure if it has happened. I am very disappointed with the level of communication and Hertz’s inability to make the process simple and straightforward and transparent.

Absolutely awful. The car rental place was closed when I went to pick up my car and I was stranded. It was truly one of the most horrible experiences ever and who ever heard of a car rental being closed at 6 pm?
