I liked my rental car in Shannon, Ireland. I felt some dishonesty at the time of completing the contract. I asked for upgrades such as insurance, automatic transmission, glass and theft coverage. The sales rep advised all the upgrades were available but because their computers were “offline” he couldn’t offer a firm price. Another customer in line told me he has seen this technique with your company in the past. This may cause me to book elsewhere in the future.Reviewed May 26 2023

STAY AWAY!!Cons:The absolute worst customer service. I would spent the money renting with another rental car company. They were cheaper at the beginning, but at the end they charged me €165 for a 1” “scratch” on the wheel. I was not the only one. At the time of return 3 other customers were complaining about getting charged for bogus “Damage” that comes from normal wear and tear of driving through Ireland roads. Some were getting charged up to €350. When asked to speak with a manager about the issue, I was denied and told that the “customer service representative” could help me. Obviously they did nothing. This place will try to scam you out of every last dollar! Since they are part of the Hertz name and all employees at Shannon airport worked under Hertz, do yourself a favor and stay away from Hertz and their underling names of Thrifty and Dollar.Reviewed Jun 3 2018

Would recommend and use againPros:Was handy to be able to get out luggage, rent out car, and be driving through the countryside within a 10 min period. Will definitely use this company again.Cons:The insurance seems quite expensive (understandably).Reviewed Mar 17 2017

Hidden costsPros:I liked the Jetta for size, handling, comfort as I drive VW/Audi cars at home. The drop off and pickup was at Shannon Airport which was very easy and quick. Sales agent was friendly and expeditious.Cons:The Dollar/Thrifty rental was connected with Hertz - which I did not know at the time and will not rent from Hertz due to a bad experience previously. Once at the counter, I found some "hidden" costs and an"upgrade" charge for an automatic that cost significantly more than a base rental for a standard and that were not listed on the rental information I had secured in advance - more than doubling the price. Buyer needs to beware about what the exact costs you are paying for since a good price that I found in advance became costly once at the rental counter and should have meant that I looked elsewhere. Since it was so early and after a long flight, I did not pursue other options in the airport.Reviewed Nov 7 2016
