Pros:Very quick at counter. Just left the agreement.
Cons:When you drop off at Malaga you need to drive through many other company drop off locations to get to Hertz. Yes, you drop dollar cars of at the Hertz location and there is no Dollar signage. Each company has you pull into small parking spots, and it is a single lane, so you can't pull around anyone. This results in the car return traffic backing up well outside the airport garage. It took us about 30 minutes to get to our spot.
Cons:Portugal toll hassles
Pros:The pick up/drop off was easy and smooth and the car was clean and comfortable. Pay attention that Dollar might be lumped in with the Hertz counter and not have its own!
Cons:We were shocked to find out the hard way that there were no locks on the inside of the car doors AND the doors did not lock automatically AND the lock button on the keychain did not work while the key was in the ignition. While parked one night, two men were able to come up to our car, open our car doors, and yell at us while they stole my purse from the backseat. I couldn't lock the doors to keep them out. It was an extremely frightening and helpless position to be in, and I am grateful that we were not physically hurt. How could the doors on a car not lock?! Additionally, we had trouble with getting the engine going and transitioning up to higher speeds especially on highways.
Cons:The car was picked up by me on a dark underground parking spot, far away from the Dollar office. The documentation stated that the car had no damages. When I arrived to the car, walked around it and didn´t observe anything noticeable. That was the maximum I could reasonable do, since the light was not good enough, and I didn´t have a flashlight or was properly dressed to lie down on the floor to look thoroughly under the car. I never damaged the car in any way during my rental period. When I returned the car I was told by the Dollar staff that the car had some damages under the front bumper. The Dollar employee, laying on the floor and using a flashlight, showed to me the damage that allegedly I did during my rental: a few small blemishes on the lower part of the plastic bumper (I managed to take a picture of them). I also took a picture of the front of the car (the same normal view anyone would see when receiving the car) and it shown no noticeable damages. In other words, they were invisible for an average person. I can provide it at any time. In summary: 1. Car was on a dark spot when I received it 2. From my review, as an average person, the car seemed to be OK 3. That was the maximum I could reasonable do, since the light was not good enough, and I didn´t have a flashlight or was properly dressed to lie down on the floor to look thoroughly under the car. Does anyone do that? 4. I swear that I never damaged the car during my rental in any way 5. To my surprise, the Dollar employee using a flashlight and lying on the floor found a small damage under the front bumper. 6. I´ve never seen before this kind of flashlight car inspection when returning a car to any rental company. Were they looking for something they were aware of? 7. Bottom line: Dollar charged me 199.93 Euros (approx. 225 USD) for a damage I never did and was not responsible for. Since I never damaged the car, my guess is that the car was already damaged when I received it, and either: (i) they oversaw it in a previous inspection when returned by a prior customer, or, even worse (ii) they knew about the damage and they were just waiting for somebody like me (not taking the insurance coverage) to charge for it. The employee also confirmed that that this type of damage would only be eventually painted when the car is sold in the secondary market in the future … so, why are they charging for it? Very sad and dissapointing experience.
Cons:Drop off very slow with only one person checking out and in.
Pros:It took us a few minutes to find Hertz area among other companies, but the agent was pleasant, efficient and we were out in a short manner to catch the flight on time
