Not recommended. Europacar refused to give us the car unless we hired an extra insurance. We had our credit car insurance with a broad coverage, damages to others included, but they just said that that was the law and only gave us the keys once we hire the extra insurance. That is a scam, don’t use Kayak nor Europacar.Reviewed May 12 2025

First, at pickup, I had to pay an additional €35 for full insurance. This was not communicated beforehand when I was reserving the car. In my opinion, this is deceptive, but at the time, I had no other option because it was late, and I needed the car. Additionally, the lady at the counter mentioned that the price for basic insurance and full insurance was the same, which felt like another form of deception. When I reserved the car, I selected a VW Golf or a similar model, but she offered me an Audi A1. What’s the point of choosing a car during the reservation if she can decide which car to give me? The car return process was also poorly explained, and I faced a small issue when returning the vehicle. Moreover, the person inspecting the car claimed there was a damage, which I did not cause. He simply said, 'Don’t worry, you have full insurance.' Yet again, this felt like another attempt to take advantage of the situation. They charged me for insurance when I explicitly told them I didn’t want it. I have my own insurance. They told me the extra cost was a deposit and the form was not in English so I trusted them. I found out later that my $120 rental now cost $314. I want my money back!Reviewed Jun 1 2024
