An absolute rip off. Prices are not accurate. Salesmen try to force you into expensive insurance (over $100 per day) and after going back and forth for an hour they said, ok but you have to put a $13,000 hold on your card to rent. Ended up just leaving without the car. Would NEVER use this company in the future and would recommend my friends and coworkers steer clear of this absolute joke of a company. Stick with reputable car rental services like Enterprise, Avis or Hertz.Reviewed Mar 17 2023

The worst car rental experience of my life. I have rented cars in Mexico before, and this was by far the most miserable pickup experience. I'd rather travel on a donkey than rent from Europcar again. They are thieves trying to take advantage of tourists by upselling useless insurance products. They should all be in jail.Reviewed Mar 17 2023

Europcar is very challenging to deal with. They try to add many insurances and it is hard to know what is actually included.Reviewed Mar 6 2023

Pick up and drop off we’re both stressful. They seemed to be very understaffed. They also tried to trick us into buying their insurance even though everything I read said it wasn’t legal and that if we had coverage elsewhere that would work. At drop off there was no one to help us and a long line of people waiting to return their cars.Reviewed Feb 23 2023

Thieves. You should not be allowing them on your site. I knew a car rental wouldn’t be $15 like your advertisement but the dealer said it was about $100/day. Rushed me to sign off on “just a basic agreement “. Said gas was included (didn’t want that, too late) and I could return it empty. Reading contract for return, it said gas would be charged if I didn’t fill it up (I had to) and the price became $1,500+ for 9 days. Thieves! Thieves! Thieves!Reviewed Feb 23 2023

This was one of the worst car rental places I’ve ever been to. Be aware that Mexican law requires you to have personal liability insurance. This is why the rental rates themselves appear so low but then when you arrive you are forced to take out an expensive insurance policy. In our case a five day rental was $60 but the insurance was over $300. Even though we have car insurance provided by our credit card, this was limited to CDW so we were forced to buy the rental Companies insurance policy. While this is not unique to Europcar the attitude of the staff was not friendly. Everyone in the agency was fighting the same fight. The return process can also be very slow. In our case there were not enough staff processing car returns so it took over 30 mins.Reviewed Feb 21 2023

The rental car process was generally fine. The problem was I purchased insurance coverage through kayak and then on arrival the rental car place stated that the insurance was invalid. This was a major issue given I was travelling on a budget. Instead of $130 I ended up having to spend $670 just for insurance, and that difference was over half of my total spending budget. Additionally, the staff at the rental car place were very difficult to communicate with given the language barrier.Reviewed Feb 15 2023

We 100% got scammed and so did everyone that was in the room with us (overhearing their conversations with staff). At pick-up, I was told I needed to pay $600 for the week for insurance. This was not stated when booking and it’s an outrageous amount of money for 5 days. We got it down to $260. When dropping off, there were multiple discrepancies between the emailed photos of the car and what the rental place had on their screen. We were not given a full tank of gas or a spare tire when we picked up the car, but it “showed we did” in the pictures the staff member had on her computer. We had to pay an extra $300 for the spare tire that apparently went missing. Which is more than any tire would ever cost. I would NEVER use this company again. They’re scamming people left and right.Reviewed Feb 12 2023
