Cons:

Car was advertised as a no smoking car. It reeked of cigarette smoke that got worse over time (after whatever fragrance they sprayed to try to cover it up)

Reserved car online for noon pickup on Saturday. Called at 12:15 to make sure everything was ready before driving to rental office, only to learn the office closed at noon and would not reopen until Monday. This left me in a difficult spot, but things got worse when I went online to cancel the reservation and was charged a $306 cancellation fee. I won’t be renting from Hertz again.

The people at the place we’re so nice and helpful. The car however smelled of smoke. The car had been cleaned and smelled strong of air freshener until the 3rd day when that wore off and the smell of stale cigarettes took over the car.

I rented a car for a week from the Green River road Evansville Indiana location and I was told by a rep that if I returned the car earlier than when my reservation ended I would be reimbursed for the days I did not use the vehicle. I returned the car on the 3rd day of my rental and I was charged the full amount. If I would have known I would be charged the full amount I would have let the rental sit in my driveway for 4 more days. I told that to the person I returned it to and she said yeah that would be smarter "but there is nothing she can do about it now" because she had already processed the return. I asked if there was someone else I could speak to and she gave me customer services number. I called customer service on Monday (11/8) and they told me they could adjust my bill to the daily rate for a compact car but they could not do the refund until I was fully charged so to call back after Wednesday. I called back Friday (11/12) and they are now saying my bill should be even more than what I paid for it. If that was the case why would it make any sense for them to tell me to call back so I can be charged even more for returning a car half a week early so Hertz can benefit from charging me the full week and charging whoever else they rent it to that day. I am very unhappy with the misinformation I was given and how I was yanked around and wasted my time. I want to be reimbursed for the 4 days I did not use the rental car which is over half of my rental agreement. This is deceitful and Hertz is now able to use the vehicle for other customers that I returned early only at a cost to me. I am very unhappy with how I was treated as a Gold Plus Rewards member. I will not be using Hertz again.

Cons:

Rules of car rental were stressed upon check-in along with cleaning fees associated for smoking or pet in the car. My mother had just been hospitalized and I was in a hurry to begin my 310 mile trip. The car smelled rancid but I didn't have time to do anything else. I drove with windows cracked open and at times all windows all the way down. Very strong cigarette smoke permeated the car. Obviously it had not been cleaned enough after the last rental. Upon return of the car and discussion with Mgr, a discount of one day's rental was refunded. Cars that smell like that shouldn't be on your lot!!!

Pros:

Staff was not friendly. No one was there when I dropped it off and it was early i n the evening.

Cons:

The vehicle was filthy, and even though it was only supposed to be a $25.00 rental, they ended up charging over$65.00. An absolute joke!

I had to extend my rental for one day - easy peasy to do and they charged the same rate instead of jacking up the price for the extra day.

Cons:

The car was in a different spot and we had to hunt for it. When we got to Nashville the next day our contract had not been entered properly and the office had to try to get it released. It is good we weren't in a hurry.

Pros:

I needed to rent a car on a Sunday morning because I was involved in an auto accident on Saturday night, far from home. Avis offered the best prices to get me home (in Kansas). The process was easy and relatively affordable compared to the other outrages quotes from Enterprise.

Cons:

I wish the company would have opened before noon. My drop off experience was frustrating, as well, but that has nothing to do with Evansville.

Pros:

The price was what I was offered, it is the add on fees that jacked it up. Well have to say it was just right for what I needed. The pickup/dropoff was a little walk to get to, but it was an airport.
