This is the second time that I have rented a minivan only to show up and not to have a van available. In my experience, when you book something weeks in advance for a family trip, you would expect it to be there. I was offered an suv which didn’t remotely fit us all for our trip. I was contacted 30 minutes before my pick up of the vehicle.

Pros:

Pick up was ridiculous then got stuck in a compact car even though we was okay with upgrading. Car was very dirty on the outside. Drop of was way easier of course. And the insurance don't waste your time buying it on kayak because they tell you it doesn't actually cover anything. Just ridiculous

Pros:

Dropoff staff was helpful, once I found a place that was open.

Cons:

Vehicle was not ready at pick up time. I left to eat and came back and they said it would be an hour or more longer wait for the type of vehicle I wanted (something fuel efficient) . They offered me a larger vehicle that I could take then, which accepted assuming it would be for the price I expected of ~$115 including fees&taxes. The employee did not mention an increased fee for the available vehical. I was badgered into paying an additional ~$23 for scratch protection. I did not look closely at the paperwork because I was in a rush by that point, so was upset to find when I stopped for fuel and checked the paperwork in my email and saw that I was charged $167, in addition to having a fuel cost higher than I had planned for. I except that I did agree to the scratch protection racket, though I was badgered into it, but I am angry about the additional ~$25 that I do not know the origin of. It is not worth my time to figure it out, since I am back home and back to work. It isn't even worth my time to go check the exact values for this rant rather than include approximate costs from memory. But I will avoid Enterprise and probably Kayak in the future. Unless you have an easy way of refunding the excessive costs without

Vendor sight could not validate my id even though it’s a valid dl from Indiana, the same one that I’ve used dozens of times to get rentals at other locations. To add insult to injury, the vendor refused to help and directed me to call customer support. Then when I contacted customer support I could not cancel my reservation and not could I rent a car because of their inability to validate a drivers license. Kayak is a scam.
