Grindelwald Hostels

The hotel staff was great. I was looking for a low-cost base for hiking and this hotel was perfect as I had the entire lower floor to myself. During the winter I imagine it is crowded with young skiers. Views from the deck were amazing.

Breakfast was okay...not great but good enough.

The hotel staff was quite courteous

The hotel was quite far from the station ( about a mile plus). Also an uphill walk. I had called up before booking and I was told that someone would pick us up from the station if I called them up. I did call.. no one came for a pick-up. I was travelling with a lot of luggage and it was a huge problem. Also, there were no taxis available. Also the break-fast was terrible.

The price was good for that area, it was clean and comfortable.

You have to bring your own blankets (they can also suppy but an additional fee). This was not highlighted and therefore I was not aware of this requirement.

The location - in the heart of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. It was awesome. Other boarders - we met friendly folks from Canada, Australia and China. It was fun to interact and exchange stories. The hosts were very welcoming. Owner Stefan was at the check-in and checked us in; any questions I had that were before our stay were very promptly answered via e-mail. While we were there, the front desk staff were very friendly with us throughout our stay. Would love to be back again in the future!

There was nothing we did not like.
