The vehicle(nice Volvo XC-90) they gave me had bad brakes and 2 bald tires. Once I figured out how bad the tires were I tried calling hertz to switch vehicles because I felt very unsafe with my family (wife, 4 year old, 1 year old, and brother) in the vehicle. They did not have a 24 hour number and the process to switch vehicles was ridiculous. They originally told me the only way to switch vehicles was to have the vehicle towed to a mechanic with me and have the mechanic diagnosis and fix it. If the car was not able to be fixed they would then tow the car back to the airport with me and switch vehicles. The manager of the Hertz Bergen airport location was/is horrible to deal with and I would not rent a vehicle from them again.Reviewed Jun 6 2023

The check in counter lady was extremely unfriendly and rude. When she asked me if i want to purchase full comprehensive insurance from lotte auto house or from Herte, i was confused and asked her did i opt for hertz insurance when i book, she rudely replied ":what do i know"?!" Then when i asked can she help me to check or give me time to check, she asked me to stand aside then so she can serve other customers. What??!!! where is the customer services????? She also didnt print a copy of the terms i signed. I presume asking me for my email means she sent to my email accounting. However, until today, i didnt receive anything. ' To be frank the car they rented me is very new and good condition. The returning of the car was pleasant too. Just the check in... it turns customers off with that rude and unhelpful attitude!Reviewed Jun 6 2023

I didn't realize when I booked this appointment that my car would be at a Hertz office 15 miles away from the St. Louis airport. I took an airport shuttle to the Hertz office at Lambert Airport, only to Iearn my car wasn't at the airport Hertz. When I attempted to change the reservation, I learned there were no cars available at the airport location, I ended up with a $50 Uber charge in both directions, so this ended up being an incredibly expensive experience for my low-cost rental. The car itself was great, the staff at the location very helpful. Also, when I returned the car the office was closed (Sunday), so I was taking a leap of faith that there weren't going to any issues with the rental return. Fortunately, I received an email of the bill on Monday, so everything was fine. This is probably the first and last time I'll use Kayak.Reviewed Jun 5 2023

Awful. Our flight was delayed and we missed our check in time. There was no phone number to call and no one responded to my email. By the time we arrived in Paris not only could we not fill our reservation but we couldn’t get a refund.Reviewed Jun 5 2023

I got to Asheville airport and was told I did not have a confirmation. I am a Hertz member as well. I showed the two people at the desk my reservation and gave her my confirmation number. She said she could not find it. She said I would have to drive a Ford F150 if she did give me a car. I told her no problem, then she said she couldn't help me. They were AWFUL at the desk. Luckily, the man at the desk sent me to Alamo and they were polite, helpful, and gave me a much, much better experience. I just rented from Hertz in Apopka, Florida last month and the experience was excellent. Asheville, I can say I would be hard pressed to ever attempt that badness again, if for nothing else than not wanting to engage with your agents again. They were not very nice. We had a confirmed reservation #K49900528F4. Our flight from SFO landed in DSM at 8pm and we got the counter and it was closed. What kind of reputable company closes the airport counter at 6pm???? There was no way for us to pick up the keys. No alternatives and there was no prior alerts or updates that this was going to happen. We were to travel to Iowa City that night and ended up taking a Uber that cost us 170$+tip since we had no option inspite of a confirmed reservation. All the other car rental places were open in the airport and they did not have any cars either. They also emphasized that Hertz DSM was the only company that closes at 6pm each day.
