Honestly the car itself was okay. It was decent on gas which I appreciate. Unfortunately the actual car pick-up at the airport was terrible. When I got to the counter after a long wait on line, I was told I would need to bring the car back early because the drop off location was not open on Sundays. I only reserved the car for appr 48 hours. After I told the representative I couldn't do that, I had to get out of line, call the Hertz 1-800 number and speak to someone about my situation. Russell, the representative, couldn't change my rental without charging me three times what I had already paid. I was not going to do that. I booked the car thinking I would have it for the entire time I rented it for. He then told me to take the car and call to change the drop off location. This took over 30 minutes on the phone! Finally I went back to the counter and was given the car after getting a refund of my original payment and was charged $25 more. The entire process was unnecessary, ridiculous, and cost me time with my family in NC. I will never rent from Hertz and possibly Kayak again. If you're going to rent someone a car make sure the locations are open for pick up and delivery!!!!Reviewed Oct 21 2024

They literally had no cars available when we got there, had to wait in a long line and then they gave us a slip to go get an SUV and there were literally no cars available in the lot. The employees had been telling people to just get into whatever car they wanted. Happenstance that the first car that pulled up from being cleaned while we waited was an SUV.Reviewed Oct 21 2024

Had booked a 5am pick up (opening time was 5am)... no answer when I called the numbers listed at the desk. I had to wait almost 2 hours before someone finally showed up... then the 8 seater I booked for our family wasn't available so I was offered 2 vehicles to make up the seat numbers instead... and the cost was more than 100 Fijian dollars more than I booked for. They overbooked for the day and were stressed upon pickup. They never gave us instructions for drop off and never mentioned their office would be closed. They charged us for the full amount disregarding the $74 I had already paid and weren’t available upon drop off to resolve the matter.Reviewed Oct 21 2024

When booking through Kayak, there was no option for a child seat addition or information saying that this pick up point in Budva is not an office. When we arrived we could not find the office/person. As there was no office and no prior option for a car seat we couldn't get one. The member of staff from Hertz was extremely unhelpful and doesn't know where the nearest Hertz office is. He told us we would have to drive an hour to get a car seat when we afterwards looked and found one 20 mins away! Before using the car, we spent 20 mins looking for a car seat in Budva from other rentals. We then came back to find the car had been TOWED! THE HERTZ EMPLOYEE HAD PARKED ILLEGALLY AND NOT TOLD US THIS WHEN HE HANDED ME THE KEYS. WITH THIS EMPLOYEE WE SPENT 2 HOURS TRYING TO LOCATE THE CAR! WE ALSO SPOKE TO THE MANAGER AT HERTZ AND HE WAS ALSO VERY RUDE AND HELPFUL ESPECIALLY TOWARDS MY WIFE. I HAD TO PAY TO GET IT RELEASED FROM THE LOCAL POLICE EVEN THOUGH I HADN'T EVEN TOUCHED THE CAR YET!!!!! WILL NOT BE USING HERTZ AGAIN ANY TIME SOON! THEY NEED TO DO SOME TRAINING WITH THEIR STAFF AS THEY WERE COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT AND RUDE.Reviewed Oct 21 2024

This was a joke and neither Kayak or Hertz would make me whole. I showed up for my rental at the appointed time and was told there were no cars and there was nothing they could do. I called Hertz who told me they couldn't refund. I went to Kayak's site for a refund which indicated there are no refunds. I disputed the charges with my credit card company and was made whole.
