The staff was great. The beds were nice and comfy. The one downside to the place was the shower. The water pressure was awful.
Overall I love the Hotel. The only bad thing was the room had bad smoke oder, We had to keep the AC down to try to get it out. I know the Hotel is Smoke free, But people are still smokeing in the Rooms. It must be in the carpet, etc because it would always come back. It hit you in the face as soon as you came in the room. They called me very quickly after I left a tablet in the room. When I came back to pick it up, they were very thorough in verifying that I was the rightful owner. I was very happy to get it back. Should be a 3 star hotel! No sign with their name on it at entrance.

Proximity to airport and Raleigh / Durham & Cary as well as places to eat and access to interstate Suite is not typical. Should be described as room with sofa bed because there was no separate lounge area.
The room set up was nice and open. The bed was so comfortable. I didn't want to get up. The only thing that I noticed, even though the bedding was cleaned; the fitted sheet was stained.

Most of the staff were extremely nice and obliging. I also liked the swimming pool facility where I could do my yoga! The staff at the counter at the time of check out was very offensive. When I said I wanted to pay by cash but my credit card was already debited though I had requested to keep the voucher only as a surety. She raised her voice and said she is being blamed for something her colleague had done. She also said I shouldn't do this when she is tryin to help me at that early time ( around 5 am).( I thought that was her job!).
Location, location, location! Wonderful atmosphere and a great place for alums to run into old friends. Room was on the small side.
I liked how it had a lot of Southern charm and depicted graduates of UNC and people who were famous or contributed something historically along the walls of the hallways. The beds were comfortable the room was fairly clean nine out of 10 for that one. They were a bit small however considering the size of the beds it wouldn't have left a lot of room to maneuver if there were multiple people sharing the room. The staff were beyond excellent I cannot say enough great things about the valets in front desk. The business center was just enough to provide what I needed. Lastly the location is ideal for those who would like to walk around the downtown area and explore or grab a bite to eat. It could have been a little bit cleaner I just found some photos or debris on the ground in on the beds like it could've been vacuumed just a bit more.
The ambience is wonderful. I could hear noise from the hallway which made it difficult to sleep soundly. The bed was too soft for me as well.
We love this hotel. It's pricey, but it's right on campus. The beds are so comfortable and the atmosphere is elegant. Wish we had more time to look at (and read about) all the history posted throughout the hotel. Highly recommended.
I love la Quinta and travel many times to Raleigh nc. But I have to say that compared to the one in Crabtree this one was sub standard. Breakfast was not good. Cold and old. The room was dirty and smelled funny. Would not want someone to spend $80-90 for this place.
Quick check in and check out. Easy access from major roadways. Housekeepers never left coffee in the room for use in the coffee makers. Refrigerators have no small freezer. I travel with a cooler and those blue ice packs and couldn't re freeze them before I left. Also there was no way to lock the bathroom doors. Thank god I was traveling alone.

The bed was comfortable and the (room) overall was clean. The noise and the construction traffic, trash left behind throughout the property. Breakfast provided left much to be desired. Check-out policy of placing a hold charge for incidentals is un-needed and not properly explained to guest upon check in or out. Hotel under renovation and NOT noted when booking hotel online. Would definitely NOT stay at this property again OR recommend.

There was a lot of noise in the hall all night long. Young people partying in the halls. I had to call the front desk and after some time, they finally quieted down about 3 AM.
Liked the room, beds were comfortable, pool was nice, could have had longer hours. Clean, though a bit worn down looking. Would stay again.
The rooms were clean, but dated and the lobby were dated The staff was often unattentive and preoccupied with personal calls and tasks. The overall lobby atmosphere was not good: dated and furniture was not all that nice. And the breakfast was very average quality. I guess you gr what you pay for but I'd have expected a bit better for what we paid. Sorry to give this report.

My dogs loved it here just as much as we did. Very pet friendly, very courteous when my dogs received their one and only noise complaint (first night, just getting used to noises). Asked for room with easy access and got room with easy access. Very nice staff, bed was comfy, room very clean. Really economic for us and just close enough to everything we needed to get to. Will stay again if ever in the CH area. AC didn't work like it should. Like cold room while we sleep, woke up sweaty.
Good hotel Poor drivability. Depending on the day you may not be able to get out of the driveway due to the busy road.
The hotel facilities and environment
We were there to attend a family funeral, so not exactly looking for a fun weekend. It was convenient to some family members. And I appreciated the small size. Rooms nice, beds comfy. Agree with Valerie...the Bull Durham staff was less than attentive. At that point, it was the first time we'd had to sit down to a decent meal. But we had to flag down wait staff. Had us wondering if it was because we were the only people of color at the Inn who weren't employed by it.
My husband and I had stayed here before a couple years ago, and now that all of our friends have graduated we need a place to stay in Durham. We like the location (running trail and golf). this trip the bar staff were kind of rude and stuffy. It used to be a nice place to get drinks, but the waiter was rude. Also, we reserved a King room months in advance, and they gave us 2 double beds. Their response when I said something "well, the rooms are the same price." My husband and I sleep in the same bed at home, and would like to on vacation. Also, housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:30am.
The room was nice overall and comfortable. I requested a handicap accessible room and was given a room that was 2/3 of the way down the hallway from the elevator. Two separate times my key card didn't work and I had to make a long walk. First, I parked in a handicap parking space right in front of an outside door, so I had to walk all the way around to the front to come in. Next, the second evening my card didn't work in my door and I had to walk back down.

The facilities and the rooms were very clean. The bedding appeared newer as did the carpeting. The bathroom was very clean. The lobby and the breakfast area was well taken care of. The staff was attentive. The pool area was very clean and well taken care of too. I have stayed here many times for both business and pleasure and have never been disappointed, great job! The shower head could have better pressure, it may have been the room we were in, but that is the only thing that I would like to see changed!

Between the room, amenities, galleries, restaurant and bar, you really don't need or want to leave. But, the central location makes it incredibly easy to explore downtown Durham. Nothing of note.

The location and price-point were right up my alley. I was traveling with my 10-year-old and my 4-month-old. The front desk staff was very kind and accommodating as I needed to change to a different room (with 2 beds) at the last minute. Beds were fairly comfortable. While washing out baby bottles in the hotel sink I noticed the water was warmer than normal (I work as a barista and have a high tolerance for hot liquid on the hands) I let the water continue to run and steam was literally billowing up out of the sink! This could have easily scalded my kids. The floor had remnants of the previous tenants food/candy and the counters were not wiped well. The lampshade had some strange yellow goo splattered inside of it. My room was located right next to the office and there was quite a bit of traffic throughout the night.

They had us booked in a room with 2 beds, but when we ended up there was only one bed, with no extra pillows or blankets, so one of us had to sleep on the floor with minimal comfort. Never going back there again.

Comfortable, quiet, clean, affordable, helpful staff. They are redoing all the rooms, plus the lobby and the bistro area. Unfortunately, the TV in my room had not yet been replaced, and tended to turn itself off unexpectedly. Since it was the weekend, they did not have any new TVs on hand to replace the one in my room. they did offer to move me to another room, but since it was just one night, I opted to stay where I was.

The room was very convenient to the Duke campus. We decided to stay the night after a basketball game but weren't very familiar with the Durham area. This hotel was definitely a good place for people who don't know what else is around. Having previously worked in hospitality for 6 years, I find myself more critical of hotels and their staff more than others. This staff was not very pleasant and I don't think any of the people I encountered smiled once. You need to ensure that guests who are out of their normal comfort of home feel comfortable in the place they'll be sleeping. The beds were also not great. The air conditioning/heat was very loud.
Reasonable price and great location adjacent to Duke medical center and campus. Aug 2016 the hotel is under renovation. No restaurant or breakfast. No fitness facility.
This hotel is very conveniently located to Duke. The facilities are clean, the staff is friendly, and they even give out free Otis Spunkmeyer cookies at the front desk!
What I have to say that is SUPER positive about this hotel is that: 1. It SMELLS SO GOOD. Really clean and neat and tidy. 2. Very nice business center! 3. Great having a little grill right in the lobby 4. The room I had was very spacious and had a TON of outlets. Seriously, there's like 8 outlets that I can see from where I'm sitting. 5. The decor was VERY nice. Bathrooms were more modern with adjustable shower heads, they had towels that were color coordinated like you would have at your house. Very nice bathroom soaps, lotions, etc. Makeup mirror, too! Maybe this was a one off experience, maybe staff was tired or something but the service I received at the desk wasn't very helpful. The hotel is GREAT for the price and if you catch the front desk on a good day, I'd recommend this to anyone. Background: This hotel was booked for me by my boss on booking.com for a business trip. After booking, we were given a receipt that showed the amount that was paid and the credit card that was used, we also had a pin and a confirmation #. I got an e-mail asking me to set my preferences for the hotel stay - I was impressed. I chose a king room on a higher floor with extra blankets, a good view and an early check in of 1pm. Early that morning I got a text saying that they weren't able to get me a room by 1pm. A bummer but I let that roll off of my shoulder. When I arrived at the front desk, the employee greeted me and got to work on checking me in but asked for a credit card. It turns out that they didn't have any "pre payment on file". So I offered to give them the confirmation number that I had. They just kept repeating that they have no record of the pre-payment. I offered to show them the PIN and the booking e-mail that I had on my phone. Again, "I'm not showing any pre-payment". Note, the employee did not look at my phone that I offered to show what I was talking about. They did offer that the only way that they could accept a credit card payment from my boss was by faxing a credit card authorization form. So I called my boss and she reminds me of the receipt that she e-mailed me and offers to help in anyway possible, maintaining that she already paid her card was already charged and that we have the receipt. (Which I did). I return to the front desk to try to show the employee the receipt from my phone and they looked at it briefly and said "that print is way too small, there's no way I can see that". So I call my boss back again and neither of us can figure out the problem, so my boss calls the customer service number and ends up fixing the problem. My issues are these: 1. The employee never even TRIED to look up my information via the confirmation number I had OR the receipt. I guess in all fairness they did try to look at the receipt but not very hard. They could've enlarged the screen, printed it out, something. 2. They never explained what the different problems COULD be. They just kept saying that we never paid. Without knowing WHERE the problem could be stemming from it was hard to figure out what to do next. I was just there saying we paid and they were saying "no you didn't" while not looking at my documentation. 3. After checking in the only request that I got fulfilled was the king room. I ended up on the 2nd floor and after all the frustration didn't even try to change it or request the extra blankets. 4. The staff wasn't really "friendly". They weren't mean but they didn't smile, only said things in a matter of fact manner.

Good location. Quiet. Seems popular with locals. Not much hot water on our last day. This is a nice place for Chapel Hill but needs to upgrade if it wants to be first class. There are too many pillows in the beds which you have to get rid of to use the bed (kind of dated) and we found the turn down "service" a little intrusive.
The staff is very nice, and the room/bed are fine. I am not a picky traveller, but two things will keep me from coming back to this hotel: (1) their hot water consistently didn't last an entire shower and (2) their breakfasts were awful.
The king suite was nice. It allowed our adult child to sleep in while we could move around and not bother him. Complimentary Breakfast was not great. We ended up going to a restaurant instead.
They did not have my Booking.Com reservation upon my arrival. Hotel is in need of an upgrade.

Fitness centre was okay...old equipment...but all working and no one else was there so not an issue...

The hotel was clean, roomy and the king bed was huge! The staff was friendly and helpful, coffee in the lounge was good in the morning. We missed breakfast so I cannot comment on that. Overall good value, pleasant stay, and I would recommend it. My only negative comment was that it was somewhat far from the event I had attended and it took a while to get a cab but it really didn't bother me too much.

The location was close to campus and the price was reasonable which is hard to find in the area. Nonsmoking room but something in the room smelled like smoke. No maps to find vending areas or listing of TV stations then front desk was not very nice when we asked questions. I'm allergic to feather pillows and tags were totally worn out and illegible. Requested non allergenic pillows that were never delivered to room.
The staff worked to get me a non-smoking room on arrival. Sewer gas smell in the bathroom was annoying.
If you have heavy luggage and get the second floor, good luck - no elevator. Something was off with the mattress, as it kept swallowing me down toward the center of the bed - when lying flat on my back, the side closer to the center was noticeably, and painfully, lower. The heater barely worked over a certain temperature (probably around 65*) - we tried various settings to no avail. The window drapes were torn in places - someone could spy from the outside when your lights are on - not on me, hopefully, cause they'd never wanna look at anyone again, but... It needs a remodel, pronto. Smell of pot after midnight from a nearby room was not exactly unexpected with "university" in the name - we should have known something was up when we saw a pizza delivery guy leaving as we were coming in. It was mild, and perhaps only helped me to fall asleep. Sadly, there was no included breakfast in the morning, as for no apparent reason, I was more hungry than usual.

The location was convenient. 1-They do not plow the parking lot nor throw down salt to pre vent iceing. The parking lot was literally an ice ring. 2-The place supposed to be nonsmoking but the room had a strong cigarette smell. 3-I call the front desk about the smell and they did not care. Just gave me an attitude saying I was in a non-smoking room and they would not change my room. I woke up with a headache because of the smell. 4-You can NOT adjust the thermostat. So I had to put extra blankets on. 5- the ceiling in the bathroom (the shower) is low. I am 6.2 and there was about 2 inches headroom left when I was showering. 6-Breakfast was not provided with the room. For $75/night and not even a continental breakfast!
We only stayed one night. The beds were too small. My wife and I did not have sufficient space to turn over and we are not large. My arm was too close to the edge and I was very uncomfortable. We needed a queen size bed.
Being Chapel Hill Inn is located right on Fotdham Blvd. made it an easy location to the UNC Chapel Hill medical facilities, as well as , places to shop and dining. Visibility of the facility is not that good. There were four factors that did not like. 1. Returned to our room very late of an evening and our door to our room was wide open. This was not only a tad bit scary, but could have been very costly due to personal items in the room. The blame was placed on the cleaning crew. 2. We had a lot of difficulties with our payments being posted to our bank, then reversed, and reposted. The hotel said that they were doing pre approval without actually charging our Visa card, and this caused some unneeded confrontations under an already stressful situation with a family member being in ICU at UNC. 3. The hotel room air conditioner was not working properly so we spent our stay using a fan. 4. Roaches were spotted in the room.
Reasonable price, more or less centrally located. Friendly staff. My climate control was not working and a maintenance person was there in minutes and fixed it. Lobby space is safe and well appointed. Some parts of the property project into pretty dark areas, even with a few lights. A 24-hour convenience store across the street is of little comfort! I had a no-smoking room, but it sure smelled of cigarettes. Ingrained dirt on bathroom floor was pretty nasty.

This was our first stay at an Aloft property but surely won't be our last. Aloft staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. Hotel was very hip and had a nice mix of seating and activity spaces in the lobby. Pool was a bit too small. Big enough to get wet but not to "swim".
Clean Road noise will keep you awake.

Great use of space and excellent amenities. The indoor pool, and games (pool table, board games) were great for our family. Aloft make great use of space, and was well-located overall. The wifi was surprisingly fast in relative comparison to other hotel experiences. My husband worked remotely from the hotel while my children and I explored. It was perfect for both our needs. I would recommend it for families or people traveling on business.
Location and price were good value The room was the smallest rooms they have and they have plenty of empty rooms. Also the room was not finished being clean as the bed was not fully made and things like the extra comforter were not put away, instead folded on the couch.

Great service and surroundings! The experience here was definitely 5 star. When we checked in, everyone was very friendly and even offered warm cookies and showed us to where we needed to go. The room was very clean and spacious. We loved the comfy beds!

One side of the bed didn't have any kind of table to rest a cell phone, etc. on. They should get one of the lamps with a small table surrounding it.

You will get better run for your money at Hampton. They have FREE buffet breakfast! FREE snacks for guests in the lobby all day! It's CLOSER to UNC. The beds are BIGGER! I stayed at Hampton Inn before Sheraton. It was CHEAPER and I thought Sheraton Inn was such a joke. Definitely get your money's worth at Hampton.

The beds were good quality and the staff was nice. We were next to the elevator lift and could hear it run all night; that combined with the high pitched noise from the fridge made falling asleep difficult. Additionally, while there was a selection of food at the breakfast buffet, it was not the best quality.
