it was IN the airport terminal The terminal is DEPRESSING. No WINDOWS! It’s like a little luxury prison cell. There was no private area in the hotel to do online work, went to one of the more human feeling pub-like restaurants.
Very comfy bed and very friendly staff! Shower wasn't separated from the rest of the bathroom, so the entire bathroom floor was soaked.
So convient in the south terminal at gatwick. Clean and everything you need for one night. Didn't hear any planes, which I was worried about.
There wasn't anything not to like. We arrived at 7.00 pm and left at 5.00 a.m. Did not like the restaurant. We booked a table and the food was not up to the standard we would have expected.
The Softel is less than five minutes walk from the Gatwick check-in desks via a slopped covered walkway. The staff were efficient and the atmosphere throughout warm and friendly. An excellent place to spent the before an early flight, I would definitely stay again.
Convenient location on airport Price of room service breakfast
The location is excellent. Staff were efficient but a little arrogant. Problems connecting to the internet in the room. The connection was very slow. The location of the room safe at floor-level is ridiculously inconvenient. The safe did not work. I'll try the Hilton next time.
Staff were friendly. Room very clean. Beds comfortable, not sagging in my middle as some are. Excellent location for Gatwick airport travellers. Good restaurants. Priced reasonably. They view! But cannot help that. But the large windows were nice.
location to the terminal restaurant was expensive
The best part was the access to the airport which allowed us to wake up and check in easily. The location was fantastic and the staff were very very helpful. Will definitely use this hotel everytime i am flying out of gatwick.
Ease of accessing the internet
The lovely atrium and the easy access to Gatwick airport together with helpful and friendly staff.
location was why I selected this hotel. location was excellent Very expensive!
Ease and access to airport None
Brand new hotel, only open three days when we arrived. No problem with late arrival. Good english and buffet breakfast. Right on site at Chessington World of Adventures. A great place to spend the weekend and I would imagine a great weekday hotel for business visitors to the area. Night team still learning and had to deal with influx of late arrivals. Found someones laptop in our room which was a little worrying at the time but its new and these things happen. Would stay there again.
The view of the zebras and antelope, and a section of the zoo opening to guests early evening. A real treat. This hotel is good to stay in as a one off. The food was very pricey, I paid for a continental breakfast £12 for a bowl of cereal and a slice of toast.
We have stayed in hotels allover the world and have never found staff so friendly, courteous and helpful. It was an absolute joy and we will return Not enough Coffee in the room!
The swimming pool was fantastic Enjoyed the fact two tv's. Nice to have the childrens area sectioned off from the adults. It would have been nice to have had a sofa in the room instead of a chair. Also toiletries would have help (Shampoo, Conditioner etc. No hot water in the morning.
Having a pillow is a great idea. It was set in a lovely location and everything was clean and new. It would have been good if plainer snacks were available in bar and restaurant and some staff were difficult to understand .
lovely location and spacious accomodation
The hotel was extremely clean, the staff efficient and friendly and the whole safari theme was wonderful. The outside decking and rooms overlooking the safari park were terrific. The pool and spa were lovely and our room was stunning. We will be back again. The breakfast was fabulous but very expensive
Excellent food, good swimming pool, friendly staff and within walking distance of Chessington World of Adventures
Very helpful and friendly staff, didn't had a fridge in the room to store my baby food but staff helped to keep them in the concierge fridge and delivered bottles as per requested. Comfy, clean and spacious room size and bathroom. Great place for the family to spend the weekend. Would definitely go back again
Nice themed hotel ideal for trips to chessington. Super friendly staff try hard to make sure you enjoy your stay. THere were also lots of little safari extras. Overpriced food in the restaurant.
I found my stay very relaxing, calming, just a really plesurable stay. No none what so ever
This is England so in the total scheme of things, this hotel is way above average. However, you are 20 miles out of London so the room rates are high .. however, the venue is outstanding Just a bit pricey, I'd could find a comparable room at hotel in New York City for about the same price or a less
The room was spacious and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. We will try and be back for our anniversary Breakfast was rather miserly! No Pool!
Staff were good I did not appreciate it was so close to the M25. The room was hot, there was no A/C and so had the window open & hence the drone of the traffic all night long!
The room was great clenliness was good and staff were friendly, The bistro food was good adn service fair. The breakfast staff were good but service was slow everything reqd had to be asked for down to things like pepper and salt! The toast came before the main breakfast and the tea and coffe took forever to arrive.I had spoken to a member of staff about having a bottle of champaign in the room for arrival but had decided to arrange it with the reception staff when checking in. we had decided that we did not want it so didn't mention it. on arrival to the room the bottle was there at a cost of £75.00 We did not drink it but left it in the room. Whilts checking out they tried to charge us for it. details were missing with the stay but would stay again.
We found the hotel pleasing and Friendly and enjoyed the experiance and the facilities within the room were excelent. Our room (41) had an airconditioning unit outside the window which provided slightly noisey during the late evening and thourgh the night
Friendly staff, excellent dining in the Oak Room
Nice and very comfortable hotel. The place is quiet but long from London Center. If you have business trip near the hotel, then its obvius to take this hotel.
breakfast, staff attitude small room, no view, no pool or gym
All staff, friendly and helpful. Pillows were synthetic slabs, grubby room, beware, double executive rooms are too small for two adults. Tiny bathroom. After heavy complaint was moved one grade up, room size average, curtains grubby, roller blinds old, perforated. Breakfast poor. Although hotel has internet not working in room, stayed five nights without being rectified. If had not prepaid room would have moved elsewhere.
Great location A little pricey!
The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We could only find one working ice machine in the hotel. The bed bugs we encountered weren't very pleasant either.
Location and staff very old decor in room and bathroom, the bed was uncomfortable, missing towels and only one set of pillows were provided
Restaurant way over priced. Not many options for a reasonable, casual meal.
The hotel is tired. Thankfully, I was upgraded to a newer room. Mattress is super hard. To get to the room, you must walk tons. The hotel needs serious renovation. Because options are limited for overnight flight.
Location and very comfortable bef Everything is fine for me
Our reservation was not in the system. They did not give us access to Internet for our booking but we understood that free Internet would be included based on the booking criteria.
The best part of this hotel is that it is so close to the London Gatwick hotel it may as well be a part of it. Very convenient! There could be a few more amenities to may the stay more memorable.
The convenience of the location, the beds were very comfortable. Our air conditioner was broken when we arrived and the room was incredibly hot. The engineer was very nice and apologized quickly and requested a room change. It then took concierge a further hour to relocate us (10 rooms down the hall). At which point our children were completely starving and exhausted. The food in the garden restaurant buffet was mostly good, though expensive, but we were seated in a dark corner because we were a family, where the staff were already setting the tables for breakfast around us. Service was polite but very slow and waiters were unaware of the fact that children ate for free.
Proximity to airport The hotel is terribly maintained. Had to switch rooms twice due to bathroom related maintenance issues. They finally put me in a decent room on the executive lounge, which was OK but even that had its issues. AC was terrible and the spacing between the bathroom sink and faucet was very awkward, making it difficult to effectively wash your hands. All in all a pretty bad hotel. The staff was nice though.
Staff who appeared more concerned about our comfort, satisfaction & value for money, than how much we spent! Small room
Quite room and location Certain requests for room service and cancelling early morning call did not happen. We did not get the items ordered and got a call when we cancelled this, rather frustrating.
This Hotel is first class - and the Restaurant & Brasserie of a particularly high standard - congratulations to all who made our stay so comfortable and successful. We have already "well advertised" the Burford Bridge - and we will return! Slight disappointment in being accommodated in the Annex - due to my partial disability - however I did just cope with the garden steps and the annex location was peaceful & pleasant. The fact that there were wedding functions at that time was perhaps the reason for our accommodation being in the annex - which was understandable
I was so disappointed following check in that I can't remember anything that stood out. We arrived late following our wedding. The man on reception talked about protecting his eyes with glasses and didn't even say congratulations! (Yes, I was in a white dress and my husband was in a suit so it was prettly obvious). It was a shame as we had felt so special all day, After checking in it just left us feeling a bit flat - it would have been nice to have been welcomed. Also, we weren't told the times for breakfast and I could find no information in the room telling us. After the experience at check in I didn't want to call and ask so we took a chance and arrived a couple of minutes before 10am. The waitress who spoke to us was abrupt and acted as if we were inconveniencing her. All in all, not very good or welcoming.
excellent food and good service
Peace and quiet
Excellent breakfasts Hotel in need of better cleaning and overall refurbishment
Beautiful place, very helpful staff - and lots of happy memories from the past! Not really a "not like" - but we did tell them that it was our Golden Wedding anniversary - and our room was three flights up, with no lift!!
Standard of room comfort, cleanliness etc Price too steep, especially G and T in the evening and coffee pot in the morning coming to about nineteen quid!
The hotel staff were very helpful and tried their best under what appeared to be difficult conditions ie not enough staff on duty . the waiter in the bistro seemed to be taking orders, serving food and drinks, all on his own. He was extremely polite and friendly but couldn't cope with all this and a very slow kitchen. The food, when it came, was very good Waited hours for food to be served in the bistro, on both the fri and sat night. Menu in the dining room wasn't inspiring.noise from the functions stopped at midnight but was very loud until then ( rooms near the function room not sound proofed ). Grouting in the bathroom not to the high standard I expected from a Mercure hotel.
Professional attentive staff- good location for my business meetings;
Very helpful staff.very new and clean environment. Car parking difficult.breakfast a lot of money
My brother and his wife stayed at this hotel on their anniversary. I live locally so the location of the hotel was idea. The hotel room was lovely with a balcony overlooking the river. There are also lovely pubs and walks close to the hotel and the busy market place of Kingston Upon Thames is just minutes walk away. The bathroom was a little cramped although beautifully appointed.
It was close. Check-in & check-out was easy.
I liked clean beds and towels. I didn't like layer of dust on TV, 50% of expired milk in a fridge, slow and paid internet (at least should be fast).
Cleanliness of Holiday Inn, every member of staff efficient. Location on riverside and close to Kingston and Hampton Court. Lovely area. Good car parking facilities. No bad points.
Breakfast was a bit chaotic, I dont think there are enough staff to clear, clean tables, replenish bread, fruit, etc. But all staff smiley and helpful, just overworked at 9.A.M. when we breakfasted
because of booking with booking.com they gave my 18yr old son and me 55yrs a room with a twin bed checking in at midnight after driving 8hrs from Germany. They said they could upgrade me with a surcharge. After waiting until 1am they gave us another tiny room with 2 single beds. All this although I had booked a double room for 4 nights.......
Clean, Breakfast good, Staff good & helpful. Ignored at the bar, Shower temperature too hot and hard to control the temperature to the right setting.
Comfortable, clean room friendly staff Air-con unnecessary,(1st of May in England!!) obtrusive and couldn't be turned off without turning the power off. Breakfast was disappointing - eggs cold, sausages hard. Very expensive for what it was.
I was very impressed with this hotel. It was a joy to see that the photo's on the website were not misleading and the setting was amazing.
Good facilities, friendly and helpfull staff.
Charge for WIFI internet access. Many hotels, some much smaller, do not charge.
Loads of character, beautiful gardens and helpful staff. Dinner service is mainly for conferences and not so good for solo diners. Expensive.
very attractive hotel, room was very nice and clean, room service food was good, great price was not informed when i booked that the pool etc is only for over 18s except for a few hours a week - my son had been looking forward to swimming, would suggest that they put a couple of hours a day aside for under 18s staying at the hotel
The Hotel is very comfortable and the gardens are lovely. The Staff were helpful and efficient but you never felt that your privacy was invaded by them.
leisure facilities room too hot
Early check in, location was great Bed was quite soft. Check out time was 10.30 which was quite early.
All round excellent. Clean, modern facilities in a period building that still retains its character. Excellent gym and pool. Best was the staff - when the PCs went down in the business centre I was offered use of the computer behind the reception. It's a pity I wasn't there in daylight so coundn't enjoy the lovely gardens.
Nice rural location in a nice building I feel that the rooms are a little of a let down for the price and setting. Fairly basic rooms a valence sheet to cover the divan base would appear the appearance of the room. Bathroom was clean but lacked a fresh feel to it.
Very close to airport Lack of check in service
The staff were friendly and courteous and very helpful. Food was good and rooms comfortable and clean.
The location is great, rooms clean and staff helpful. Waiting for the lifts became quite a pain. I was lucky on the 2nd floor so could take the stairs, but even at 5am it was difficult. Wanted to try the restaurant too, but very busy - would have had to wait over an hour - lucky there's lots nearby or across at the south terminal.
Grounds and location Checkout was slow on the Saturday morning with only 1 receptionist on duty and queues were forming; Also the Duty manager walked past twice and did not recognise there was a problem with people queueing
The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. More choice of seating for eating my bar meal would have been nice. The hot drinks made in my room tasted awful - the kettle?
drinks at bar were a bit expensive
A very grand hotel but had a very cost feel. We will definitely be going back
Very well situated not too far from London the food was not particularly fantastic
It was a lovely weekend break. The only very minor issue we had was that the tv remote control didn't work but apart from that, everything was perfect No bad points
friendliness of staff and Pub down stairs. I suggest people choose the continental breakfast!
Lovely boutique hotel, clean, fresh with lots of character, will stay again.
Since we didn't need to use their 5 GBP shuttle service to Gatwick, their price was goodl. Bar nice but empty, did not try the food. Proximity to Six Bells pub was the best feature. Parking tight and tricky.
The young man who picked me up at the airport and checked me in was extremely helpful in pointing me toward some of the nearby sights I would otherwise have missed. Entire staff was friendly, helpful and just all-around nice. I loved the community, and the hotel's location, and the convenience of the airport transfers made entire visit outstanding. I would absolutely stay there again, and would highly recommend to others.
An excellent hotel. Superb location with a fabulous atmosphere. Great staff.
Ease of getting around, helpful and friendly staff, generally quiet location
I liked the convenient airport transportation. Relaxing and friendly lounge in which to have a drink. Room was comfortable, clean and warm. Great place to stay to catch a flight at Gatwick. No complaints.
Easy access to the airport with complimentary shuttle to and from. A nice breakfast included with room price.
easy access to gatwick airport with pick up/drop off by the hotel. after europe did find it rather expensive to eat and bar prices very high, but this is england!
Very reasonably priced.
the mattress and bedding was excellent paying for the parking
wide and clean room The reservation through Arora hotel web site does not work.
It's in a great central location, so you can go out in Crawley & eat/drink/shop etc. Even though it's next to the railway line, we didn't hear the trains. Hotel decoration lovely, very clean, very helpful staff and it has excellent facilities. Our room was very spacious & they'd thought of everything. En-suite was huge compared to other hotels, it had a separate bath & shower. Lots of thought had been put into the design & comfort of the room/hotel. Really pleased with the hotel & we'd definately stay there again, especially if we were taking our daughter, as there are connecting rooms. Also have a shuttle bus to Gatwick airport which is really close by, but again didn't hear any noise from the planes.
Clean and wide room very low water pressure from the tap
Convienent location Dreadfull catering & and catering staff
Very near the railway station -
close to station, high standrad of facilities, excellent food.
Easy to find location from website and is signposted when on the approaching road. Polite friendly staff and clean hotel.
Generally good, but WiFi sign in system a hassle and card swipe door keys real pain rarely if ever worked first time and usually took 3-4 tries at least.
Charged for 2 breakfast but was alone. Should have asked me first before charging.
The staff is very friendly and hard working The trains are very loud
I always sty at the Bosco when in London since it is near the office I need to go to. But for London area I must say this Hotel sticks out positively. The staff is very nice. It has everything I get in a 4 star Hotel in London as well. but is is half price. Can strongly recommend to book it!
