The hotel was warm, comfortable and welcoming, the staff attentive and the breakfast couldn't be faulted
I have stayed there before, the staff were as always friendly and helpful and this time I even had hot water in the shower. the sound insulation is not the best, later in the night I could hear the couple in the next room being intimate, so I will definitely book this hotel again next time I am in town :)
The location, comfortable bed....and decent cooked breakfast.
easy to find, close to where i needed to be, clean, friendly
Friendly, comfortable, good breakfast
Lovely room, nice and big, very clean Staff could be friendlier
Very comfortable. Lovely location overlooking the river Kelvin. Quiet inspite of being very close to Gt. Western Road. Very convenient for Underground station.Full cooked Scottish Breakfast very good!! On street car parking is a bit congested, but we always found a space nearby
Clean and tidy no problems except the TV was a bit dodgy. TV
The staff were very friendly
We are an American family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children under 3). The location was great since we were 2 minutes from the underground/subway and a short walk to the University campus. There were plenty of eating options all day, including nice restaurants and cafes, but also a pizza shop and a sandwich shop. Parking was easy and cheap (on street for 4BP/day). The street was also quiet and the in-room fridge was useful for making lunches etc. for our kids. We were in a room next to the front door of the hotel with poor sound proofing to the reception. Our bed was very uncomfortable; we felt every spring and it was noisy. The shower was a bit sporadic in temperature. Simply, the room felt cheaply decorated and tired. Regardless, we'd probably stay here again (but ask for a different room if available) since it was a good location and a good price.
Very close to central Glasgow
Clean, lovely bathroom(only toiletries was a large soap dispenser!), close to main centre Breakfast although cooked fresh was cramped, tea & coffee was out of a machine, dining area was shared with the open kitchen area. Website says check-in from 1300, we were told 1400 on arrival. Our room at front- woken by bin men on tuesday morning, and by compressor on delivery van on the wednesday. On going for breakfast the delivery was stacked in the hallway. Returning to hotel on first night greeted by pile of laundry bags in hall outside our room, which remained there till morning.
The staff at the hotel were very polite and helpful.the room was good value for money with a superb breakfast in the morning.
Very friendly and attentive staff, espeially Micheal. Great breakfast. Convenient location and amazing value for money None
The hotel was very clean and modern.Facilities were great and breakfast was good.
Well placed with convenient parking, friendly staff, and excellent breakfast and good value for money. The room was very cold on arrival and until the heating had been switched on.
Was within walking distance of The Stand Comedy Club which was purpose of visit
Very comfortable and nicely decorated, pleasant staff. No ironing facilities in the hotel.
The location of the hotel and the quality of the room No soap in either of the dispensers and one of the shower sliding doors was not attached properly
The room and bathroom where very clean which is really important to me and the location is good. Staff friendly and helpful. No shower gel in the showe gel dispenser. Breakfast looked good but was a bit bland and by the sound of all the dings in the kitchen I think was completely done in the microwave.
Facilities and decor of hotel excellent The walls are so thin I could hear "everything". I hardly had any sleep due to the noise from other people in the rooms next to me.
Generally clean. Our room felt secure and the room was clean. Beds were uncomfortable -- old and/or cheap mattresses. The toilet in our room did not work well at all -- trouble flushing, trouble refilling; we have to constantly tinker with it. Terrible smell of curry in the kitchen area -- overpowering.
Very friendly and excellent location
location really slow internet connection, strange noises from the bathroom
Clean and comfortable rooms Lack of remote controls for the tv
the staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly the double room was very small, and both rooms were cold when we arrived
The location and the quiet room The room was very small. The front desk area was cluttered
The clerk at the desk was very personable.
Location, ease of check-in/check-out.Value for money. Minibar not stocked.Double room a little short of space.Poor service at breakfast.
staff's friendliness and location
Friendliness of staff, comfort of room and decent food. Brilliant value for money. Car park a bonus
the breakfast times were to early .we didnt have one breakfast during our stay .
The 3-bed room was spacious and the breakfast was quite good No lift to top floors and no prior notice given. Showers need to be upgraded - looked dilapidated and the water power was very poor.
Beds and pillows were comfortable Showers were so small. You could not bend down if you would drop your soap. Hallway carpets were dirty, and every morning they put your clean towels outside your room door on the dirty hallway carpet Floor.
Good location for the SECC. Rooms were Clean and comfortable. Nothing special but what you would expect from a 3 star city location hotel. Breakfast was the best thing about the hotel. Decor could do with an upgrade especially in the bathrooms.
central location which was good Carpets were a bit dated and shabby - no lift which was a pain when you were in the attic rooms
Great location near Kelvingrove Park and West End (and easy enough to find on Sauchiehall St), generous and tasty breakfasts, free wireless, and complimentary fruit and coffee/tea in the lobby downstairs. All in all very pleasant. Weekday breakfasts a little too early (7-8:30) although it did ensure we made the most of limited daylight hours... bathroom a little spartan but it did the trick.
Location was great, five minutes from Central Station and very close to everything else The hotel advertises a carpark, and when i checked in I got really vague directions to find it (apparently it's round the back somewhere) - I couldn't find it and had to park elsewhere, which cost a small fortune!
Clean, modern, central, efficient, well-priced
the room was very hot and stuffy, could not open windows to allow fresh air in
it was very central for the shops etc and bars
Modern The room we were in was a little small
Location Quite noisy
Glasgow city just around the corner---the Cathedral. Hotel staff very helpful.
Breakfast excellent. We were close to the 12 o'clock limit but staff showed no annoyance and .were so helpful, even putting out freshly cooked bacon etc at that time. Twin room a bit small but still value for money.
The refund we got due to the complaints we made. If anything? I didn't like anything about it.
The sevice in general was poor and too slow and will need to sharpen up considrabley.
Nice room. And public areas are impressive. Bit old fashioned Upper floors could do with a make over
Staff could be more friendly and helpful. Also wash cloths and more soap in the rooms would be nice.
Excellent breakfasts, overall atmosphere of hotel, immaculately clean rooms, very comfortable bed, general facilities in room and hotel, location which is next to station. None
The location and hotel are amazing. This hotel is right next to the train station and a very loud night club. It is very loud.
very central for shopping rooms were very poorly heated! very cold!
Parking available No paper after request/hotel badly finished/no thought put into layout eg large bathroom -towels and rail at opposite end from bath and basin
Very central location and comfortable room Tricky to find the retaurant serving breakfast
Great hotel after refurb None
classic building and location - lots of history and interesting architecture
Great location and value. Beds are comfortable and staff are really friendly. Wifi is terrible
The central location in Glasgow. The two single rooms we booked were very small with no air conditioning. The one upholstered chair was thread-bare. With the window open for fresh air the traffic noise was unbearable. The hotel has a very rigid no refund policy so be very careful when paying up front. We would not stay at the Grand Central again nor would we recommend it to our friends.
On arrival we had to call booking.com as the hotel had not received the fax! this caused us some delays and great frustration as we were being told we had no booking
Excellent location. Hotel had character. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was outdated and noisy from the nearby elevator.
location breakfast could have been warmer
We enjoyed the cleanliness and kindness of the staff and everything we met. We did not get to go on the tour we wanted or at all. The tour was booked up and the remainder of or time was to short of a stay in order to see what we wanted to see.
From my first moment in the hotel the staff were very friendly and helpful. They asked what the occasion was and I told them it was my husbands birthday. We were given a front facing room and a complimentary bottle of champers. I have stayed in numerous hotels over over the world and I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family as I did on Sunday and my mother-in-law is booking.
We enjoyed the stay, and find it easy to reach busses and other transport when we wanted to go to the city or elsewhere. The cleanliness of the room could be better. It was ok the first two days, but after that it was not good.
Easy access to Byres Road and the West End .
the location was especially useful near to the subway and the shops there was a hole in the carpet. the decor was old fashioned.
The location was excellent for Glasgow West End with free parking just opposite.Staff were very helpful and hotel clean.
Location, size of the room breakfast room and service
the staff were brilliant & the bar was fantastic me & my son loved it.only problem was rooms were too small and at the rate we were paying there was no tea/coffee in rooms and u had to pay for tv .as u get this in other hotels etc. we thought it was good area for pubs/nightclubs
its very visible to town center.. good location
The central position of the hostel Windows could maybe double glazed to cut out the noise from the street.
Friendly staff, close to the city.. Room was alittle cold
Location - The Hostel was near to Central Station in Glasgow. The staff were efficient and friendly. The hostel had good security features such as lifts only able to be operated by Guests.
the Bar Down Stairs, with Pool Table, Fruit Machines. They also gave us £1 off each drink We bought. i did not like the way we had to sleep on bunkbeds. i know the rooms are small and obviously your a hostel but Bunk Beds not really my Scene.
All was favourable except the early morning traffic next time I will have a room at the back! Probable slamming of rooms doors nothing a little oil would solve other whys home from home almost!!
the staff, the breakfast the lack of light near of the bed, to pay to be able to see tv. It is the first time I'm in your country and I don't have kettle in the room to be able to have a coffe
Staff were friendly and helpful. For a Premier Inn, Cumbernauld is very "tired". It need a complete makeover to bring it up to Premier Inn standards. It lets the company down.
Staff were very helpful, rooms comfortable and food in restaurant was good
Comfy bed, good number of grab handles in bathroom. Sliding door to bathroom excellent. Bathroom - needs a walk in shower to be really classed as disabled access. Comfy chair needed too - only a dining chair provided. Automatic door closer too strong for the disabled / elderly to manage if on their own.
Very helpful person on reception. A warm welcome given. No concerns - more parking would be good!
Breakfast good staff very helpful when we arrived late for it Room very small booked a room for 2 adults 2 children they had rto add a bed a( the last minute the hotel advertises rooms at £29 1was charged £75 for an extremely small basic room
Breakfast was great, as was the room's bathroom, especially the nice sized tub. Bed was very big and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful lobby and dining room. Beautiful, new hotel. I was disappointed with the size of the room (bed took up all the room, felt crowded, dark) and its place on the first floor (with a view onto an unfinished gravel courtyard). I would recommend asking for a higher up room and making sure you indeed get a double. Beware that the spa is not yet open, I though it would be (it said August!!) and it was not. It was lovely, but I don't know if it was worth the money.
the staff were very good at there job and polity could not get a taxi back to rail station
Bar staff, Scott and Ayden award winning cocktail masters! Front desk staff Night managers Ute (sp?)and John
Every comfort available. Rooms with view would be better. Our inside over utility vents courtyard view was depressing.. But then we were not staying inside the hotel much and room was quiet and very well appointed. Wifi strong.
Excellant hospitality and service. Loved the position, decor and ambiance of the hotel. Will definately visit again. A few problems because it was new. The lift broke down, gas problem in kitchen resulting in 30 minute wait for breakfast, extras being added to the bill after dinner that we did not have. All quickly resolved.
Good atmosphere fine food staff very helpful. Heating in room not adequate. Breakfast in morning not very well run.
Staff, location, facilities, ambience, food, welcome could not have been better. The courtesy and hepfulness of everyone from the MD himself who was very visible and helpful at what was a difficult time due to severe weather to the extremely well informed and helpful doorman (who also acted as waiter when restaurant busy) was well beyond what could be expected even of a luxury hotel. We have to confess that the breakfast arrangements were not conducive to customer satisfaction and while we did not complain many around us did. Somehow the large numbers could not be coped with by the staff on duty who at other times of day gave superb service.
Our room was wonderful, and very clean
Central location Room was cold, damp and small. It was very central though. I guess you cant expect much for £49.00 for a double with breakfast, which in fairness was ok.
Conveniently situated, inexpensive, coffee/tea-making facilities in room, big breakfast, wifi available. The creakiest floorboards I have ever encountered.
Staff were efficient and I recieved what I paid for Rear side of bathroom door was dirty
Breakfasts & proximity to rail station. Noise from near-bye nightclub. Minimal comforts ie one hard, thin pillow, one small soap, wash basin so small (& no shelf) so tooth brush/ paste glass had to sit on toilet cistern, lack of towel rail in one room, no remote control for tv & some language difficulty with some staff asking for directions etc. Access to reception up 2 flights of stairs & no lift to other floors.
It was very close to Central Station and main part of Glasgow Breakfast was good. Seemed alittle run down and a lot of stairs to get to reception and rooms.
Nice people, easy to store luggage that we pick up later. Big rooms. No place to hang towels put soap ect. Noice from sea gulls. Beds not very comfortable.
Location. Close to shops and easy to find. Hotel could do with being refurbished, it's out-dated.
The Rennie Mackintosh Hotel was really central to explore Glasgow. We didn't depend on taxis or buses to move around the city centre. A few doors up from the Central Station which we arrived at from Preswick airport. Surrounded by lovely restaurants and lively bars. Breakfast choice was good considering the budget accomodation. Reception was open 24 hrs. The room in the hotel while having a tv - only had one 'watchable' channel. The rest of the channels were full of static (not that we might have watched it much - but nice to have the option). Bulbs were missing from light fittings. Attention to detail just wasn't great in the room ... but I would still stay there again if heading to Glasgow.
nothing its poor looking and the staff aren't very helpful. everything the staff, the look of the room, the breakfast the time check out is.
exellent hotel for proce and is great in a central location
Wonderful service and luxurious, beautiful accommodations. Nothing - had a marvelous time and wish we could have stayed longer.
Superb rooms, attitude of staff, and dining.
Staff and their service was excellent - on arrival the concierge helped with dinner reservations and was well informed to make recommendations. Thoroughly enjoyed the taster menu in the hotel on second evening both in terms of choice available and quality of ingredients and cooking. Wonderful atmosphere!
very helpfull staff, an immaculate hotel. I had booked the room for a very important client who was very impressed during his stay
I was warmly greeted and felt looked after which was exactly what I needed after a horrendous journey in awful weather.
Friendliness of the staff The restaurant and service...food was excellent Wish I could have stayed longer. Note - I chose this hotel for the rate and availCo fortable and relaxed atmosphere.
Very warm reception and a tranquil mood in the hotel, making for a most relaxing stay - highly recommended
The atmosphere was wondered, particularly the lounge with the open fire, the staff could not have been more helpful, it was really a lovely experience.
It was a lovely hotel to visit, could live in the suite!
Originality, quality of finishes and size of bedroom The room I had at the front of the hotel had a constant road noise during the night which was disappointing. There are a number of level changes
The location was good and central, good speedy check in service and they also provide luggage lock up on departure if required so you don't have to cart unnecessary bags around until required. No complaints
concert we had booked room was very cold and smelled of stale smoke, restaurant very very cold and food also very cold.
Close to Train Station. Heat did not work properly.
We booked a triple room and it was small and only had a double bed. This is a solid budget hotel
very clean in reception area and room. ice maker on each floor nice booked a triple room but had to ask for extra towels and cup etc
quality of hotel rooms were cold
Good situation for shopping, pubs etc none
Close to the train station and not a far walk from some busy shopping streets. They validate parking Room/ water had a smell of sulfur. The couch in the room had a visible white stain.
friendly/very helpful reception staff/ cleaning staff very approachable and went out of their way to meet our needs/ service in all aspects highly recommended / well done dont think guest reviews of any hotel are helpful as they tend to be based on emotion and every hotel should be assessed on its own merits.
Ease of check in / check out - plenty of staff available during busy times. Breakfast facilities and food of a high standard. How room price jumped by £40 due to a football match being played in the City.
acess to city centre Our room was cold and very noisy heating device
Location Price of breakfast - we like light breakfast but no option for continental package so we ate out to avoid the high breakfast charge
Room was exceptionally clean and comfertable and to get parking in city centre a real bonus
Hotel was modern and very clean. Staff were also very friendly. Gym facilities were advertised but no weights section existed. As such I was disappointed to not be able to do a workout as planned. It would be useful to clarify this on the website I.e. Call it a cardio gym.
Location in centre of glasgow and convenience to get to places lack of parking faciliities
Good location near the town and Renfield centre. Good food. I stayed in room 221, this room was draughty and sounds from outside came in as the window seemed poorly insulated from sound/draughts. Previous rooms i stayed at here never had this problem.
The lobby is nice and modern and the staff were friendly/helpful. Appreciated the free WiFi. The room felt like a nice hostel, not a 4 star hotel. This location is 2 blocks from the nightclub scene so it was very loud with people shouting on the streets and cars revving their engines. The water closet was very plain and the toilet paper quality poor. There is no pool/whirlpool/jacuzzi. We booked this room at a discount rate, thankfully. Had I paid full price, I would not have been happy with the full-rate and the quality of hotel. This is more like a 2 star hotel.
The hotel is very central and very close to the town centre. We were there with friends and i can say they were more than happy with the facilities at the hotel. I don't have anything to say on this as we were all very happy.
It's central location I think the price of breakfast is expensive, I've had better for less, otherwise it ticked all our boxes.
Convenient, clean, quick check-in and check-out, lovely shower Pillows were uncomfortable
Although i requested a smoking room all were taken staff very helpful and arranged for ashtray many thanks
The proximity to Glasgow centre and all the amenities we were looking for.The ice machine is a nice touch.
Close to everything...only a walking distance to great restaurants and shops, the hotel is very nice...modern decorated and clean. I also liked the icemachine on our floor. The room we stayed in was a little narrow..and it would have been nice to have a fridgerator in the room to keep cold drinks in.
Location and very comfortable bed The hotel forgot to make our alarm call in the morning
Good strong internet access in my room.
Convenient access and location, quiet. Staff is clearly poorly trained. Breakfasts were a shambles, staff running around like headless chickens, badly stocked buffet, cutlery and crockery falling on the floor, raised voices etc. Allow at least an hour to have breakfast as the area is clearly under sized, and with the amateurish staff don't expect a quick bite and go.
Good breakfast choice.Room clean and comfortable Did not have record of us paying for rooms in advance so had to pay again and reclaim payment.Still waiting for refund.
The atmosphere of the hotel was very amenable, staff were very helpful. Also the location of the hotel is a bonus it so central for the city. Didnt like the breakfast setup would rather have had a buffet style for all selections.
I requested a smoking room and did not get this.
clean comfortable Noise from outside bar area late at night
Good location, very comfortable room and good breakfast. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Its location is ideal I have no dislikes
Good Facilitys No
Great location, comfortable and quiet room.
Building was a lovely adaptive reuse of a former printing house. Rooms were lovely and very modern. Most comfortable hotel bed that I have ever slept in. Staff was fantastic. Absolutely loved the evening wine and cheese!! Can't say enough good things
Modern, clean, comfortable, and cozy. Tiny room but the design is perfect. Great little breakfast option. Wonderful staff with charming customer service. They were very accommodating in letting me leave my luggage for a few hours after I checked out. I wish there was a little closet to hang up clothes. The room I had there was just a hook with 3 hangers for hanging a couple items. For a one night stay that's fine but for multiple nights could be annoying.
It was very close to the station.
The cheese and wine is a great idea and the value overall for being right next to George Square is amazing. Clean and friendly to make up for the small room.
Perfect location! Friendly, courteous, helpful staff. Clean and quiet room. LOVED the 5-8pm wine and cheese! Minor .... But would have liked another knob to hang towels in bathroom- only one knob. Heating rail to dry damp stuff. Small room but very well laid out- cozy
