Location was fabulous - good proximity to the beach, cliff wall and several restaurants. It was nice that the first evening, we didn't need to travel far for food and drinks, and music to boot. For the money, amenities could have been much better. Breakfast was frozen fare and coffee hard to come by at times. Staff was indifferent - room never got made up as they showed up as we were getting ready to go out for the evening, shuttle took over 45 to arrive (change of shift was the excuse), and just the fact that we had to pay for a shuttle for one round trip downtown (extra $2 each cause we didn't buy it at "check-in").
The rooms were quite large, but our "King suite" had a king bed on the far side of a half wall and a double bed on the near side. There was a refrigerator and microwave by the double bed. The bathroom was clean, but the finishes were dated. Only one elevator -- which was inoperable for one evening there. The hotel next door is more money, but has better amenities and the suites are much nicer.
Location, staff & value
Shabby. Poorly maintrained 'cottages'. Felt dirty.
Location is great if you dont mind driving or shuttling into downtown Upon check in we discovered our room was one of the 6 or so adjacent to the lobby. I requested a different room and the lady at the desk informed me we were blocked in but not to worry, the lobby doesnt get a lot of traffic and is quiet. I can assure you this is not the case. All conversations in the lobby can be heard quite clearly from the rooms; all check-ins, check-outs, everyone attending breakfast. Its VERY loud. We were awoken every morning around 6 if not earlier and were awoken by rowdy people coming in during the night. The front desk staff arent even courteous enough to close the door leading to the hall to buffer the noise. When checking-out I was assisted by the same lady and I provided the feedback on the lobby noise. She replied "OK." No apology, no interest. Very indifferent to the guests The rooms are dirty. Especially the floors. They had debris and were sticky. I wasnt comfortable taking off my shoes
very spacious room with seperate sofa room. The bed was really comfortable, with plenty of pillows The breafast was served in the small lobby with seating to eat in a different hallway.
Rooms were comfortable. Staff was friendly and efficient. Good value and good location. Would stay there again. I have no complaints.
The staff, big rooms, fridge, microwave in room
Pet-friendly hotel with very clean rooms. The room was big and even had a dehumidifyer. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were very clean. Can't beat it for the price. Just 2 miles from downtown Newport.
The lobby and common interior areas are very clean and well kept. The lobby is modern and recently renovated. Regular selection of continental breakfast. Cookies at the check-in counter! Best of all, pet friendly. For a very reasonable per night, per pet fee of $12 you can bring your pet with you. If you do bring a pet, they put you at the very back of the hotel (it's a very long/deep hotel) and on the ground floor with a walkout sliding door. It's very convenient. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly. I can't speak for the other non-pet friendly rooms, but ours was a bit dated. Clean, but old. No issues though since it was so clean. An updated pet friendly room is the only thing I would suggest to improve, although the cleanliness made up for the outdated room.
The hotel was good.. It had comfortable beds, the bathroom was adequate, a bit dated in facilities, but still very usable. Location was excellent and the staff was very kind and helpful. Pet friendly which is good too.
It was very affordable and the rooms are super nice. The location is perfect and the pet policy is ideal for our furry friends. Also, my girlfriend loved the daily cookies at the front desk. Exceeded all of my expectations.
I appreciated the cleanliness and customer service.
Mostly quiet, except the party that came in at 3 am. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Decent pool and hot tub, both of which seemed clean. Decent fitness facility that was also clean. LOVE that they have recycle containers in addition to the trash cans in their rooms. Towels and beds were ok. TV channel options were ok. Worked well for a weekend away. Continental breakfast is not deluxe, but was fine. Runs the gamut from hard boiled eggs to yogurt to bagels and cereal. I didn't like the ventilation system that is set up to always be on - it's great generally, but doesn't get rid of bathroom odors quickly and also means that when someone smokes near the intake, everyone gets to smell it (unless it was someone in a downwind bathroom smoking). Got to smell strong cigarette smoke one night and morning, so it was probably a guest given that we stayed 4 nights and were only affected for one of them.
It was clean and comfortable. In the process of renovation. Not really solid wood flooring, but some sort of engineered flooring is being installed. It's a basic hotel near a tourist destination. It is going to cost twice as much as it would elsewhere. The wood in the hallways and rooms is going to add to a noise. The fire doors close loudly and the room doors are loud when they close. I wear ear plugs in a hotel anyway, so didn't bother me.
The staff was very helpful and the restaurant is incredible. We ate there every night and had drinks until they close down well after hours. They really took care of us. Our bed it was a huge king with good comforter. The bed was a little hard, but some people may actually prefer that.
The staff was Awesome. The restaurant had great food at reasonable prices. In a good location. $300 for a nite....seriously. Should have been 250 at most. Vending machines way overpriced. I'm not cheap either. Lol.
Ants in my room.
It was very reasonably priced for during the week in the summer. When we arrived at the hotel we were told they upgraded us to what we requested. We were very happy.
Absolutely nothing Rude staff that outright lied about price and discount. Over charged for the room.
The Staff was nice - good location Soda/Water Vending machines didn't work. Continental Breakfast - bad coffee, day old pastries..... Rooms were not very nice - 1970 style. take some Febreze with you to freshen up the room.
Other than the location, not much positive at the moment! Several negatives - facility first floor like a warehouse, with room fixtures, etc., piled in hallway; no longer offering free continental breakfast, which was an unpleasant surprise; room above ours very noisy, with seemingly a "track meet" underway.....facility should have posted an "in transition" notice as warning!!
2nd room they moved us to was cleaner and quieter at night time. Room next to ours heard the TV from 10 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the morning. Had to call the front desk to go to the people in the next room to turn the TV down. Room was dirty- floor had dirt, sheets were dirty- even found a toe nail in between the sheets. Asked to be moved to another room for the next night, that room was much better- cleaner and quieter at night. Breakfast was typical of most hotels that include a continental breakfast. Coffee wasn't so bad.
The hotel room is so nice and the view is extraordinary. We pay very little for the hotel compared to the city but the value is way more.
The location was nice - close to everything. The bar/restaurant was cozy for couples. The hot tub and firepit on the roof was nice, even though it was filled with young people. Understaffed! The desk check-in person also did maintenance, complaints, etc. For breakfast, one person was serving and took forever (he may have been in back cooking)! While the place was renovated nice, the floors were unlevel and the bathtub slanted downward. Large humps in the floor (almost fell). Bathroom was no bigger than a travel trailer bathroom. If I was to put that much money into renovating a hotel, I certainly would have leveled the floors.
Room to super small
There is a fire pit and hot tub on the roof. Room is very comfortable and quiet. Water views are wonderful.
The room was very clean and good size. Location was great
The room was spacious No service at check out - The staff could not show me an overview of my bill. May be because of the hour 0.600. However I made the request also the night before.
The resterant and the chife and service Nothing
Super nice staff. Clean. Comfortable beds. Good toiletry kit in bathroom. Good breakfast buffet, included with price of room, with nice comfortable seating area. Wasn't the largest selection for breakfast - no donuts! - but great for the price of the room. And they did have make your own waffles! Coffee station also good.
Renovations of upper floors starting at 7am with hammering waking up guests on a holiday Monday...completely unnecessary, poor management.
Comfortable, well appointed, and quiet room; nice amenities (cookies at reception desk, microwave popcorn in room; complimentary breakfast Price was high for the nature of the hotel and room (but Newport is an expensive market in high season)
Pillows are horrible and cheap
The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean! Too many little in the pool late at night. Very noisy and not enjoyable.
The tv didn't work, and after requests for getting it fixed every single day the problem was never resolved, ended up moving me to different room only after I requested. Room wasn't well cleaned-I found a woman's shoe in the room that wasn't mine on my second day, and there were the same dead bugs in the bathroom the whole stay. Bathroom sink was clogged. Not even bananas for continental breakfast--extremely limited selection. Horrible smeIl the whole place.
The staff was great. Check in and check out were seamless and quite quick. The location couldn't have been better. It could've been cleaned a bit better, that's for sure. The was a moldy smell in the elevator and it continued on in the hallway leading to our room. Luckily, the room itself seemed clean and smelled just fine. Honestly, I think if they just invested in a carpet cleaning every once in a blue moon, that unsettling smell would go away.
The access to the beach was very good. The indoor pool was a little chilly. However the kids didn't mind and it kept them occupied when the weather wasn't great. The continental breakfast was pretty good too. The beds were okay. Not the most comfortable and could probably use replacing. Housekeeping did a good job cleaning however twice we were left with 1 washcloth for 4 people and I had to go to the front desk to get more. The room we were in could also use a little updating. Overall our stay was pretty good
Very convenient location with restaurants, bars, and the water all within walking distance. Doors slamming in the hallway can be loud and disruptive to the light sleepers.
bathroom wall paper was peeling off. carpet old, discolored.
It was a rather comfortable place to stay. The staff was helpful and friendly. If you need a place to stay before going to OTC Newport, I'd recommend here because it's not too far. Not too fancy, I guess, which is fine.
Although we didn't enjoy the pool that was a good point for the hotel! The water had a very bad smell! The room didn't have a good air smell too, witch is really unconfortable!!! Fabric curtain on the bath tube instead a plastic curtain looked not a very clean idea huh?!!!
Refrigerator in room, location. Keycards never worked, replaced 3 times, beds uncomfortable, booked a smoking room, then told at check-in that it was a no-smoking motel.
Great value for Newport. Just up the road in Middletown only 5 min from Newport. Hotel was clean, bed was comfortable and it was large. We had a refridge and balcony. Pool wAs clean and breakfast was just fine.
Hotel was comfortable and allowed us a later check-out time. Very convenient location to get to our venues. Continental breakfast included coffee, juice, cold cereal, bagels, danish and waffles. Usual stay at this time of year is a 2-night minimum, but reserving through booking.com allowed us a 1-night stay. Our particular room did not have an ironing board. I'm guessing that if I needed one they would have provided one.
Tv Blood on the sheets. Everything covered in dust. The room was hot and humid. There was barely any outlets to plug in phone chargers. Poor lighting. Shower curtain was yellowed and towels were rough and dingy. The side doors were kept propped open all night. $200 for 1 night. First Wedding anniversary and we should of stayed home!
Easy to find, room was good size, continental breakfast was fine at $180 per night, pricey for what it was, even during busy summer weekend
Last min price, not to far from Downtown and Ma's donuts!! Water was luke warm when we arrived and checked in. Next morning could not shower because first water was brown and then no hot water!!
Size of room good. Beds ok Location & room were disappointing. Thought it was closer to Town and more like a Hiday Inn Express. It was NOT.
Room was fairly large with good accomodations-Microwave, Refrigerator, private balcony. I also thought the room and bathroom was clean and well maintained. Internet access was a convenience. Water pressure is too low. Sink rinsing was laborious and shower pressure was not optimally effective. Front desk help not always available, probably due to limited staffing. Internet access didn't always work.
staff was friendly. Beds coluld have been more comfortable.
Basic hotel stay for a good price just for a get away trip. TV volume was broken and ac and heater was very out of date
Great location- just minutes from the heart of Newport! Spacious suites with cute kitchen area. Comfortable beds, pet friendly for our little pup!! Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast in the AM- make your own waffles and egg scramble bowl!! Cozy fire in the lobby... We will return again and I def recommend it to you!!
The bed was comfy There was no way to control the air in my room. It was pretty stuffy in there. Check out time is 11am and so I was pretty surprised when the house keeping lady barreled in at 10:40 to clean.
Our flight got in at 1:00am and the front desk waited for us to check in when they should've been off work at midnight. The shower wasn't clean when we first checked in and the drain didn't work that well. Every time we took a shower we would be standing in a bath of water. The maids didn't clean the bathroom. We asked for extra towels and the next day the maids took the ones we hadn't used that night but we still wanted them so that was annoying.
The room was clean. Location was great. Had problems getting an Internet connection. Bed was not comfortable.
I like the cleanines and it was close to stores and a casino The breakfast could have used greater improvement more variety bit was convenient
Good location at a very good rate for the area Breakfast was a little basic
The staff was really nice. That is the only good point I can make. My room was absolutely disgusting! It had ants crawling on the windowsill and desk (with an ant trap stuck in the floor trim in the bathroom). The first thing I noticed when I walked in to hang up my clothes was the awful smell (think vomit trying to be covered over with perfumy carpet soap. The second thing was the fast food bag stuffed behind the t.v. stand. The sink would not drain in the bathroom, the shower control fell off, there was a huge stain on the bedskirt (vomit stain??), the floor was filthy with a well defined dirt trail from the door into the room, and there was a 1/2 inch gap between the door and the door jam. Big enough for somebody to stick a firecracker through. I had driven 11 1/2 hours and was exhausted. I did stay in this room the first night, but was so uncomfortable, I asked that my room be changed, which it was. The second room was better, but again the shower control shield fell off. Their breakfast every single day consisted of scrambled eggs (made from a dry mix and cut into chunks), and hard boiled eggs. They did have belgian waffles if you were willing to stand at the very hot waffle iron in the sweltering room. I am normally a roll with the punches kind of person, and I really take most reviews with a grain of salt, but this was terrible. I wasn't even offered a partial refund or anything. Not only will I never stay here, I will never stay in a Travelodge again.
The staff is super nice and helpful. I've never had a problem there. I like their breakfast. I like the lounge sofa in the rooms they are cute. I had a great sleep everytime.
The pool was dirty and poorly located
For the price we paid, very nice room. Car needed to go to Newport. Rooms a bit noisy. Not event a slice of bread for breakfast, just bagels and pancakes.
Great stay Clean, comfortable, great location
We were really surprised by how spacious the room (incl. little kitchen) was. From the very first minute we felt welcomed and comfortable. The staff was very warm and regularly asked if we needed something. The service was absolutely awesome and we will defiantly come back and can also just recommend this hotel! Thanks to the staff for this wonderful stay!!! We needed a time out and you made it possible for us.
I decided to get of of town for a night and this sounded like a cute little spot to stay. When I showed up it was a very different story! It was very dingy. When I got to my room I was very upset because it seemed very unsafe. The only lock it had was a low quality deadbolt, which was loose, and I could see outside. no chain lock or lock on the door knob itself. Im very petite and I feel like I could have pushed that door down if I really tried. I felt too unsafe and I had to leave. The person at the desk was gone for the day and there was a number to call if you needed to contact someone. Every very time I tried to call, no one answered. I asked for a refund and no one ever got back to me. Extremely disappointed.
I liked the comfort, budget prices and the decor of the room. I did not like the exterior of the hotel-it could use some paint, updating.
Staff was very friendly. Room was musty (damp) and bed was very uncomfortable.
The owner gave my son a "Goody Bag" filled with snacks and candies - that was a surprise. The facility is old, and really can use updates.
Older motel but very clean with a great view of the pond. Short easy drive to Newport attractions. There are chairs on the lawn so you can kick back and relax outside. Ask for an upstairs room to enjoy the pond from your outside patio. Small Bath with limited counter space
The location was great. The prices, affordable and the room vey clean!
Beds were somewhat comfortable - Hairdryer didn't work - Cobwebs in the corners of the room - 2 spiders above the shower - Extremely Noisey - Bath towels had stains
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel was very quaint and rooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean. The continental breakfast could use some revamping, or just a neater set up.
The hotel staff were excellent and helpful! The room was clean, but the rooms with the balconies are really more enjoyable if you could reserve one. It's right by the beach and some restaurants, but about 2 miles from Newport's bars/restaurants and cabs are a little hard to get, but it's walking distance. Overall a great experience!
This small facility ( 9 rooms) has an excellent location, adequate room size, very clean and well taken care of under the watchful and personally involved owner/manager who is a very friendly and accommodating guy. The rooms are spotless with nothing that is the least bit shabby or worn. Location is very close, (easily walked), to the very large Easton's Beach and the Cliff Walk and Newport. The small common area is loaded with food and drink throughout the day. Probably not good for rambunctious kids who need space to play in the facility. Highly recommended for a most pleasant stay. Sometimes one can hear the people above walking around, but the patrons respect and enjoy Rhea's Inn. Not a big (fancy or not) hotel.
Nice spacious room. Friendly staff.
The hotel had a great location. Was clean and very pleasant. The staff were most helpful and friendly.
The gentleman who checked us in at the front desk was very friendly and efficient!
Hotel was close to everything we wanted to do. It had a good breakfast and nice facilities. Said it sleeps 5. When asked, we were told that we had to squeeze three big boys into one bed. I asked about a rollaway bed and they said fire code did not allow it, but we could buy a inflatable mattress. In actuality, these room only sleep 4.
Convenient location The fact thats its advertised as a king suite and there was nothing making it a suite in my opinion! The sofa bed is uncomfortable and i know they all are, but i work at a timeshare resort and we put foam mattresses on them as well for the comfortability.
Front desk staff, courteous. Room was just what I had hoped, and very nice. Pool and fitness rooms adequate. Ample parking and well lit outside. Hot tub was too hot. Had 3 fire alarms go off over 18 hours, but staff was doing a good job trying to accommodate. Afterall, things happen. Even for free I wouldn't eat the breakfast my second day. Only hot offering was scrambled eggs which were so finely chopped one had to eat with a spoon and tasteless. Certainly not like eggs at home. No "syrup" offerings. The sausage patty was dried out and unable to cut b/c no knives out. Picked up with fingers, but not worth it. No hot water for tea midday at coffee station, but found some in breakfast area. Wasn't always able to hook to the wifi. Only thing the maid did in room was empty trash and tuck in sheets on a bed I had made.
I like the indoor pool, open from 7 AM - 10 PM. The free breakfast had enough variety to satisfy most diners. I needed and was given a handicap-accessible room which was in a very good location. The lobby was attractive and comfortable. Several staff members were friendly and very pleasant: Liz, Alisha, Christina were especially nice and helpful. On at least 2 days the room was not made up even after we had been gone most of the day. The first time I saw a maid and simply said something to her; she immediately came and took care of the situation. The second time I called the front desk and Nicole was not exactly happy to hear from me, although I had not complained about anything prior to this! Two people came to the room and talked to us, but not until I offered to help them make the bed did they spring into action and do it! Took care of towels but left full trash containers! Said they were short staffed because some had been sent to North Conway, NH to help with a busy weekend. However, on this weekend in Newport/Middletown there were at least 3 major events: Norman Bird Sanctuary 40th Annual Fair; parents weekend at Salve Regina; and a car show at Fort Adams! Lots of traffic on all roads, this area was vibrant with activity! Also, confusion about my reservation which was for 5 nights, arriving Thursday, departing Tuesday. Although everything was established when we checked in Thursday night with Liz, staff the next day insisted our reservation was for only one night. Also insisted reservation was with EXPEDIA although it was made through Kayak. Very puzzling. Not a pleasant experience. We have stayed at this hotel several times since 2004 and never had so much trouble or dissatisfaction. In spite of these events, we will probably stay there again since it is so convenient to visiting family and I love the indoor pool!
Close to the city Fire alarm went off 3 times in a single day. Once at 7am, once mid day and once at midnight. All resulting in building evacuations. There was an system malfunction. I understand once or twice but three time was a little much.
A reasonable visit and service comparing to the price but a little bit too long from Newport.
Place was clean and people were nice but how far does that go Room was very small had a erry scent big hole in the screen let bugs in very very small some outlets didn't work
nice hotel, best for this money, good staff, excellent if you have a car
A New Low! Everything about this place was filthy. After looking at 2 "non-smoking" rooms, that clearly were not, they finally put us in a room that had "just been painted". There was no latent odor of smoke but plenty of cleaning fluid odors. It was the best they had to offer and we knew there were no other rooms available in town so we took it. Thankfully we had sleeping bags with us so we rolled them out on top of the bed and made the best of it!
Close to the highway Obvious signs of rodent in the ceilings
Facilities were pretty bad. Our door was broken and our room reeked of weed.
