We stayed for one night the room was very clean, the bathroom was beautiful, and the hotel staff was very accommodating. The street noise outside of our room woke us fairly early in the morning, the breakfast at hotel restaurant was overpriced and sub par
Very close/walkable to all. Hidden costs - parking, facilities.... Its an additional $15 a day for each. This is not clear in the post.
The staff was amazing!!! Joe carried my bags to my room and could not have been more of a pleasure to talk with. I was heading into town for a girls night out and instead of calling me a cab the hotel drove me to my destination! It made my whole night much more relaxing and stress free. Also, the pillows were insanely comfortable. When I checked out I immediately went and bought all new pillows for my bed at home. I was so inspired by my wonderful night's sleep...
Beautiful suite with a walk-in shower and bear-clawed tub, nice views and a friendly, professional staff. Not replacing the in-room coffee and the $35 a day valet parking are little things that irritate.
All the extra charges. There is an extra $35 nite fee for parking. That should be included for people who stay.
This is a lovely hotel in the middle of a historic district with an easy walk to shops and restaurants. Hotel staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. We had a great time in Newport.
I thought the staff was very friendly. There was an upbeat vibe in lobby. The location was great. Easy to walk everywhere from the hotel. Didn't like that I had to valet park my car. My final bill was $130 more than I agreed to because of extra fees. There was an extra resort fee and the parking was expensive. Mattress was very old and uncomfortable.
Excellent location near action in Newport. Pleasant old hotel ambiance, though most of hotel is 1960's construction, well disguised behind original hotel facade. Parking fee extreme ($35 per day about 25% of room rate). Tub in room was nasty, no one would consider soaking in it, ok for shower. Wall behind tile in shower clearly water damaged with tile buckling and uneven with stained grout. No doubt hiding serious mold problem behind tile. Not so serious that I thought I needed flip flops for shower, but clearly showing neglect.
Great location and luxury appeal. Seems that the luxury only goes to the higher end rooms and more public places. The public bathroom in the hotel was 3 times more amazing than the one in our room.
I stayed here in November when rates are certainly lower. Hotel was excellent value, great service, good food, very nice facility. The hidden fees for parking and "resort fee" are a bit annoying.
It was just exceptional. Never experienced so many happy, helpful employees, especially the valets, they were wonderful. I will certainly be returning, and I would have paid 3x what I did without complaint. Nothing - not a single complaint. Maybe a small free breakfast, but that's just trying to think of something!
Location was great, close to shopping and Downtown. Requested a king size bed, but got a queen sized bed. There were only 2 queen rooms, and we got one b/c of our length of stay?? Sink did not drain the first day, but was fixed. There was no electrical outlet in the bathroom, had to use the hairdryer out in the bedroom, but had to plug it in under the desk, so I was not able to stand and dry my hair. Wallpaper in the bathroom was lifting. The bed was not comfortable. Advertised that there were pillow top mattresses, ours was definitely not a pillow top and it was quite flat. There was no refrigerator in the room, coffee maker was old and outdated. I have been in far cheaper rooms that provided a keurig and nicer coffee provisions. Powdered creamer in a packet was gross. Overall, it was fairly disappointing for the $500.00 per night rate.
Great shower. Comfortable beds, clean. Great steak restaurant attached, get there early as they are busy every night. Towels were older, but clean and plenty of them. No free breakfast.
Lots of room especially the bathroom area Very hot room when we first arrived and it took awhile to cool off. We were instructed to enter through the side door and go to the second floor to our room. There was no elevator. Usually not a big deal but we had a week and a half worth of luggage to lug up the stairs and more than half way down the long hall. When I checked out they had my room rate in their system incorrect, almost $40 higher than what I booked. They corrected it, but good thing I didn't just leave my keys in the room and head out, like I normally do.
Hotel was very convenient for my trip value was great and location was easy to get to. Also it was in a location near shopping
We paid for a shuttle and couldn't even get one the first day we were there. Second day we waited in the lounge for the shuttle and the girls at the front desk forgot to tell us when they came so we missed that one too. Front desk help was awful.
very close to downtown New Port ... that's it very old, humid and you can actually smell the mold .. rusty and not renovated .. too expensive for what it offers
The place is run down and looks more like a motel. We had booked two nights, but after seeing the place, we cancelled the next night and booked it in Holiday Inn express in Middletown (which looked lot better and was only $15 more per room). It also mentions unlimited transportation, however even though we had two queen beds in a room (4 people), they only gave free transportation to two people. Definitely not worth the stay.
It was fairly clean The price is not worth what you get over priced and Lady Maniger is rude. They do not honor AAA or New Port Grand Play and Stay offers. If it was not so close to where I was a seeing a show at the NewPort Grand I would of chose a more eligant room downtown for twenty dollars more.
Cheap, clean and 7min drive from center Newport. It was clean but smelled like Clorox
There was absolutely nothing to like about this property Mold located throughout bathroom, hair in bathroom from previous guest, holes in the walls and carpet pulled up in one corner
The room was really nice, love the wood floors. Bathroom very clean. Room was comfortable and we'll appointed. I like that the sink area as separate from the toilet and shower. Also, I appreciate that the whole bathroom area was behind a wall separate from the bedroom.
Everything is ok. I don't remind
Location was excellent. Enjoyed sitting out back at sunset. Easily walk around Newport from the Hotel. Front Desk Hospitality was great. Furnishings are fine. Nothing special. Clean.
The matress and cleanliness of entire hotel. Other than the hold you put on my card... Loved everything
Loved the location right on the harbor walking distance to all the shops, cafes, bars...less than 20min. Drive to beavertail lighthouse, beautiful ocean view at the ocean drive historical center, Fort Adams, windmill hill We payed $25 dollars a day to park at the Newport Harbor hotel.....
Front desk staff very helpful. Air conditioner was not working our first night they immediately sent someone up to take a look at it. He thought he had it fixed but that was not the case. We reported this to the front desk and they had the unit replaced the next day. Bar area downstairs is a great place to relax. Can't wait until the new restaurant opens. Beds/ pillows not that comfortable. Rooms could use some updating.
Hotel was clean and comfortable. Great location on America's Cup Ave. withing walking distance to almost everything. Pretty views of the marina out back. First floor rooms are great because you can sit outside your room and relax or play with kids.
The front desk staff gave us excellent suggestions for meals and directions how to get somewhere. Everyone in the hotel was friendly. It was a great location and we could walk almost everywhere.
Its location is awesome. Everything is within the walking distance Parking fee was charged upon check-out without explanation at check-in
Had to call maintance 3 times. For the price of the room that was three times too many. The do a lot of chasing/ holds on bank account that takes days to fall off. Great location. Beautiful water view if the bird droppings had not been on window. Too expensive to have had all the issues
Although I had paid through kayak before we arrived the hotel charged my credit card for the room. It took days and a number of phone calls to finally get the hotel to remove the charge. It may just be easier to just book through hotel.
Great location. Staff was friendly. Room was clean, comfortable and we had a great harbor view. Walking distance to restaurants and shops. Parking was $25 a night which seems high, especially in April.
Can walk to anywhere, great location Extra charge for parking
Comfortable, well appointed, and quiet room; nice amenities (cookies at reception desk, microwave popcorn in room; complimentary breakfast Price was high for the nature of the hotel and room (but Newport is an expensive market in high season)
Super nice staff. Clean. Comfortable beds. Good toiletry kit in bathroom. Good breakfast buffet, included with price of room, with nice comfortable seating area. Wasn't the largest selection for breakfast - no donuts! - but great for the price of the room. And they did have make your own waffles! Coffee station also good.
Pillows are horrible and cheap
Great location- just minutes from the heart of Newport! Spacious suites with cute kitchen area. Comfortable beds, pet friendly for our little pup!! Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast in the AM- make your own waffles and egg scramble bowl!! Cozy fire in the lobby... We will return again and I def recommend it to you!!
It was very affordable and the rooms are super nice. The location is perfect and the pet policy is ideal for our furry friends. Also, my girlfriend loved the daily cookies at the front desk. Exceeded all of my expectations.
The staff, big rooms, fridge, microwave in room
The hotel was good.. It had comfortable beds, the bathroom was adequate, a bit dated in facilities, but still very usable. Location was excellent and the staff was very kind and helpful. Pet friendly which is good too.
I appreciated the cleanliness and customer service.
Pet-friendly hotel with very clean rooms. The room was big and even had a dehumidifyer. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were very clean. Can't beat it for the price. Just 2 miles from downtown Newport.
The location of the hotel is excellent, being on Goat Island in the center of Newport. Breakfast buffet was good. Breakfast servers were on the ball. The valet service was quick and professional. Close to everything. It took 3.5 hrs to have our room ready (oceanfront king). That is a long wait with a 5 year-old. We were originally booked at the Newport Marina because of their saltwater pool, but upon arrival it was closed for a few days so we booked a room at the Hyatt through the Kayak app (because of the pool). So after the long wait to get our room (not ready until 7:30pm, it was too late to take the family to dinner downtown after we got situated), I asked if they'd cover dinner and they agreed to comp room service. There is a $5 charge every time you have your car brought up from valet. Didn't know that. Also, there is a daily $20 "resort-fee" not included in the quoted price. I asked what it was for and was told that it was for the pool and WIFI. Outdoor pool closed, as is the Pineapple restaurant that is advertised. We swam in the pool once because it was so cold (as a pool owner i'd guess it was about 72F-ish), a bit too cold to hang around much in, plus the pool room itself was pretty cold too. Our room was pretty drafty as well (very windy and cold outside). Expect to get sprayed by the shower when you turn it on since you have to be inside the shower to reach the handle. Also, only one towel hook in the bathroom was not good when there are 3 people staying.
Room and breakfast buffet Room with no window
We were on the ground floor stuck in a corner down some stairs with an outside exit right outside our room door and the hinge was loose on the door and it banged closed every time some used the door.
Staff Problems with rooms and cleanliness... Also $20 service fee per a night non-negotiable
Location was fantastic and the shuttle to the shops and restaurants was great. Staff wasn't helpful, genuine, or friendly - unaccomodating and not knowledgable.
Clean Great location On way down called for early check - told no before ever learned what time we were arriving - very rude Toilet flush one time then not again No water then no hot water 4am fire alarm Had to cancel my appointment due to no shower Waste of time and money
Staff very helpful and friendly Price is outrageous for quality of hotel. Ripped cushions on outdoor patio
location is right on the island after the bridge room is so perfect ie clean, spectacular view from window great buffet breakfast ie smoke salmon, omelet, fruit, juice great walking area right on the front harbor nice exercise and pool room a little noisy perhaps due to many people parking fee check in time is 3p, too late, check out time is 11a, too early
when I arrived only one room was reserved rather than the two I had scheduled through Hotels.Com. This mixup was corrected but this kind of error should not happen. Correct information was not transferred accurately. This is quite discouraging for an online reservation system. Got the stay off to a poor start.
Restaurant /bar onsite Called on phone prior ro make sure had hot tub and hot tub open..don't have one. $20 "resort" fee charged per night (for having an indoor pooll???) , possible see reason for charge IN season (outdoor pool erc) but OFF season (hotel did waive fee after we complained ) Room awkward...not cozy or homeyphome In general just disappointed with stay and hotel
Great stay Clean, comfortable, great location
We were really surprised by how spacious the room (incl. little kitchen) was. From the very first minute we felt welcomed and comfortable. The staff was very warm and regularly asked if we needed something. The service was absolutely awesome and we will defiantly come back and can also just recommend this hotel! Thanks to the staff for this wonderful stay!!! We needed a time out and you made it possible for us.
Room to super small
The resterant and the chife and service Nothing
The room was spacious No service at check out - The staff could not show me an overview of my bill. May be because of the hour 0.600. However I made the request also the night before.
There is a fire pit and hot tub on the roof. Room is very comfortable and quiet. Water views are wonderful.
The hotel room is so nice and the view is extraordinary. We pay very little for the hotel compared to the city but the value is way more.
The room was very clean and good size. Location was great
The location was nice - close to everything. The bar/restaurant was cozy for couples. The hot tub and firepit on the roof was nice, even though it was filled with young people. Understaffed! The desk check-in person also did maintenance, complaints, etc. For breakfast, one person was serving and took forever (he may have been in back cooking)! While the place was renovated nice, the floors were unlevel and the bathtub slanted downward. Large humps in the floor (almost fell). Bathroom was no bigger than a travel trailer bathroom. If I was to put that much money into renovating a hotel, I certainly would have leveled the floors.
Staff was very friendly. Room was musty (damp) and bed was very uncomfortable.
The owner gave my son a "Goody Bag" filled with snacks and candies - that was a surprise. The facility is old, and really can use updates.
I decided to get of of town for a night and this sounded like a cute little spot to stay. When I showed up it was a very different story! It was very dingy. When I got to my room I was very upset because it seemed very unsafe. The only lock it had was a low quality deadbolt, which was loose, and I could see outside. no chain lock or lock on the door knob itself. Im very petite and I feel like I could have pushed that door down if I really tried. I felt too unsafe and I had to leave. The person at the desk was gone for the day and there was a number to call if you needed to contact someone. Every very time I tried to call, no one answered. I asked for a refund and no one ever got back to me. Extremely disappointed.
I liked the comfort, budget prices and the decor of the room. I did not like the exterior of the hotel-it could use some paint, updating.
The staff was great. Check in and check out were seamless and quite quick. The location couldn't have been better. It could've been cleaned a bit better, that's for sure. The was a moldy smell in the elevator and it continued on in the hallway leading to our room. Luckily, the room itself seemed clean and smelled just fine. Honestly, I think if they just invested in a carpet cleaning every once in a blue moon, that unsettling smell would go away.
Very convenient location with restaurants, bars, and the water all within walking distance. Doors slamming in the hallway can be loud and disruptive to the light sleepers.
bathroom wall paper was peeling off. carpet old, discolored.
The access to the beach was very good. The indoor pool was a little chilly. However the kids didn't mind and it kept them occupied when the weather wasn't great. The continental breakfast was pretty good too. The beds were okay. Not the most comfortable and could probably use replacing. Housekeeping did a good job cleaning however twice we were left with 1 washcloth for 4 people and I had to go to the front desk to get more. The room we were in could also use a little updating. Overall our stay was pretty good
The Staff was nice - good location Soda/Water Vending machines didn't work. Continental Breakfast - bad coffee, day old pastries..... Rooms were not very nice - 1970 style. take some Febreze with you to freshen up the room.
Other than the location, not much positive at the moment! Several negatives - facility first floor like a warehouse, with room fixtures, etc., piled in hallway; no longer offering free continental breakfast, which was an unpleasant surprise; room above ours very noisy, with seemingly a "track meet" underway.....facility should have posted an "in transition" notice as warning!!
It was clean and comfortable. In the process of renovation. Not really solid wood flooring, but some sort of engineered flooring is being installed. It's a basic hotel near a tourist destination. It is going to cost twice as much as it would elsewhere. The wood in the hallways and rooms is going to add to a noise. The fire doors close loudly and the room doors are loud when they close. I wear ear plugs in a hotel anyway, so didn't bother me.
Absolutely nothing Rude staff that outright lied about price and discount. Over charged for the room.
Ants in my room.
The staff was Awesome. The restaurant had great food at reasonable prices. In a good location. $300 for a nite....seriously. Should have been 250 at most. Vending machines way overpriced. I'm not cheap either. Lol.
It was very reasonably priced for during the week in the summer. When we arrived at the hotel we were told they upgraded us to what we requested. We were very happy.
2nd room they moved us to was cleaner and quieter at night time. Room next to ours heard the TV from 10 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the morning. Had to call the front desk to go to the people in the next room to turn the TV down. Room was dirty- floor had dirt, sheets were dirty- even found a toe nail in between the sheets. Asked to be moved to another room for the next night, that room was much better- cleaner and quieter at night. Breakfast was typical of most hotels that include a continental breakfast. Coffee wasn't so bad.
The staff was very helpful and the restaurant is incredible. We ate there every night and had drinks until they close down well after hours. They really took care of us. Our bed it was a huge king with good comforter. The bed was a little hard, but some people may actually prefer that.
very spacious room with seperate sofa room. The bed was really comfortable, with plenty of pillows The breafast was served in the small lobby with seating to eat in a different hallway.
Location, staff & value
Shabby. Poorly maintrained 'cottages'. Felt dirty.
Location is great if you dont mind driving or shuttling into downtown Upon check in we discovered our room was one of the 6 or so adjacent to the lobby. I requested a different room and the lady at the desk informed me we were blocked in but not to worry, the lobby doesnt get a lot of traffic and is quiet. I can assure you this is not the case. All conversations in the lobby can be heard quite clearly from the rooms; all check-ins, check-outs, everyone attending breakfast. Its VERY loud. We were awoken every morning around 6 if not earlier and were awoken by rowdy people coming in during the night. The front desk staff arent even courteous enough to close the door leading to the hall to buffer the noise. When checking-out I was assisted by the same lady and I provided the feedback on the lobby noise. She replied "OK." No apology, no interest. Very indifferent to the guests The rooms are dirty. Especially the floors. They had debris and were sticky. I wasnt comfortable taking off my shoes
Location was fabulous - good proximity to the beach, cliff wall and several restaurants. It was nice that the first evening, we didn't need to travel far for food and drinks, and music to boot. For the money, amenities could have been much better. Breakfast was frozen fare and coffee hard to come by at times. Staff was indifferent - room never got made up as they showed up as we were getting ready to go out for the evening, shuttle took over 45 to arrive (change of shift was the excuse), and just the fact that we had to pay for a shuttle for one round trip downtown (extra $2 each cause we didn't buy it at "check-in").
The rooms were quite large, but our "King suite" had a king bed on the far side of a half wall and a double bed on the near side. There was a refrigerator and microwave by the double bed. The bathroom was clean, but the finishes were dated. Only one elevator -- which was inoperable for one evening there. The hotel next door is more money, but has better amenities and the suites are much nicer.
location - near water -- accessible to restaurants/bars. could walk anywhere. near a great coffee spot 'Alix' room was nice, but a little on the pricey side for what it was.
the location is fantastic and they have parking. also, the complimentary pastries in the morning are to die for. for the price of the room per night and the stars this hotel has, I was surprised by the condition of the room. the rug was ripped and frayed, the bathtub/shower felt unclean, and the staff could have been more polite.
Location was fabulous, staff very friendly. The breakfast croissant was the best I have ever had!
The location was convenient yet quiet for sleeping at night. The staff was attentive and helpful. The room was in a separate small building rather than the main building next to the parking lot so less curb appeal. Even though they supplied a special made yogurt and fruit pastry in the morning, there is no place to eat it. The room only has a tiny nook. I suggest that the hotel use one of its dining rooms for guests to eat in breakfast or the outdoor dining area.
Hotel Employee who checked us in was lovely and gave us great info on what to see in Newport as well as a map. Be prepared that the pub next door doesn't close till 1am. Their patio was full of happy young adults! The air conditioning unit was able to muffle most of the noise but we aware that this noise might affect your stay.
The staff was amazingly friendly and willing to help. The room was huge, clean, and welcoming. Free breakfast was provided every morning, without waking us up. Nope.
They have a fabulous restaurant attached to it but you must make a reservation in advance.
The Inn attendant that greeted us upon arrival was very helpful in suggesting places to eat and visit. I also loved the warm pastries and creamy yogurt that we received promptly at 8 am every morning. We loved that the inn was in a very central location. I liked everything about this inn.
We stayed in one of the inn's newest rooms (they've recently expanded), and our room was beautiful & spacious. The building is brand new to the inn, but everything ran like clockwork. Check in was handled somewhat awkwardly in the entry to the restaurant. Otherwise, it was a great experience!
The staff were friendly and welcoming and the owners, the location was perfect and the overall experience was more then we expected! Food was excellent! No
They were friendly. Brought you breakfast in the morning
The room was very clean, tastefully decorated, had great amenities (stove, fridge, microwave), and was perfectly located. Very tasty breakfast yogurt parfait and pastries. Quiet even in downtown area. hard to know where to park at first, but they do give you directions.
The pool was dirty and poorly located
Good location at a very good rate for the area Breakfast was a little basic
The staff was really nice. That is the only good point I can make. My room was absolutely disgusting! It had ants crawling on the windowsill and desk (with an ant trap stuck in the floor trim in the bathroom). The first thing I noticed when I walked in to hang up my clothes was the awful smell (think vomit trying to be covered over with perfumy carpet soap. The second thing was the fast food bag stuffed behind the t.v. stand. The sink would not drain in the bathroom, the shower control fell off, there was a huge stain on the bedskirt (vomit stain??), the floor was filthy with a well defined dirt trail from the door into the room, and there was a 1/2 inch gap between the door and the door jam. Big enough for somebody to stick a firecracker through. I had driven 11 1/2 hours and was exhausted. I did stay in this room the first night, but was so uncomfortable, I asked that my room be changed, which it was. The second room was better, but again the shower control shield fell off. Their breakfast every single day consisted of scrambled eggs (made from a dry mix and cut into chunks), and hard boiled eggs. They did have belgian waffles if you were willing to stand at the very hot waffle iron in the sweltering room. I am normally a roll with the punches kind of person, and I really take most reviews with a grain of salt, but this was terrible. I wasn't even offered a partial refund or anything. Not only will I never stay here, I will never stay in a Travelodge again.
I like the cleanines and it was close to stores and a casino The breakfast could have used greater improvement more variety bit was convenient
The staff is super nice and helpful. I've never had a problem there. I like their breakfast. I like the lounge sofa in the rooms they are cute. I had a great sleep everytime.
For the price we paid, very nice room. Car needed to go to Newport. Rooms a bit noisy. Not event a slice of bread for breakfast, just bagels and pancakes.
Our flight got in at 1:00am and the front desk waited for us to check in when they should've been off work at midnight. The shower wasn't clean when we first checked in and the drain didn't work that well. Every time we took a shower we would be standing in a bath of water. The maids didn't clean the bathroom. We asked for extra towels and the next day the maids took the ones we hadn't used that night but we still wanted them so that was annoying.
The room was clean. Location was great. Had problems getting an Internet connection. Bed was not comfortable.
The bed was comfy There was no way to control the air in my room. It was pretty stuffy in there. Check out time is 11am and so I was pretty surprised when the house keeping lady barreled in at 10:40 to clean.
Room was very clean, bed was comfortable.
Hotel was comfortable and allowed us a later check-out time. Very convenient location to get to our venues. Continental breakfast included coffee, juice, cold cereal, bagels, danish and waffles. Usual stay at this time of year is a 2-night minimum, but reserving through booking.com allowed us a 1-night stay. Our particular room did not have an ironing board. I'm guessing that if I needed one they would have provided one.
Although we didn't enjoy the pool that was a good point for the hotel! The water had a very bad smell! The room didn't have a good air smell too, witch is really unconfortable!!! Fabric curtain on the bath tube instead a plastic curtain looked not a very clean idea huh?!!!
Close proximity to event. Uncomfortable bed, musty smell, early pool close time, bathroom very small, saw cockroach in room, sink dripped
staff was friendly. Beds coluld have been more comfortable.
Room was fairly large with good accomodations-Microwave, Refrigerator, private balcony. I also thought the room and bathroom was clean and well maintained. Internet access was a convenience. Water pressure is too low. Sink rinsing was laborious and shower pressure was not optimally effective. Front desk help not always available, probably due to limited staffing. Internet access didn't always work.
Staff was very good, very good rooms, clean had iron, fridge, tv in the room which was mainly required and not all the hotels provide then which we got for very cheap price. Nothing
Refrigerator in room, location. Keycards never worked, replaced 3 times, beds uncomfortable, booked a smoking room, then told at check-in that it was a no-smoking motel.
The hotel had a great location. Was clean and very pleasant. The staff were most helpful and friendly.
Nice spacious room. Friendly staff.
The hotel staff were excellent and helpful! The room was clean, but the rooms with the balconies are really more enjoyable if you could reserve one. It's right by the beach and some restaurants, but about 2 miles from Newport's bars/restaurants and cabs are a little hard to get, but it's walking distance. Overall a great experience!
This small facility ( 9 rooms) has an excellent location, adequate room size, very clean and well taken care of under the watchful and personally involved owner/manager who is a very friendly and accommodating guy. The rooms are spotless with nothing that is the least bit shabby or worn. Location is very close, (easily walked), to the very large Easton's Beach and the Cliff Walk and Newport. The small common area is loaded with food and drink throughout the day. Probably not good for rambunctious kids who need space to play in the facility. Highly recommended for a most pleasant stay. Sometimes one can hear the people above walking around, but the patrons respect and enjoy Rhea's Inn. Not a big (fancy or not) hotel.
