Overview

Rating

The Carmel Hill Del Monte Pines Motel is located in Monterey just a few miles from Monterey Bay. There are things to do here that are easily accessible, and the surrounding area is comfortable and serene.

This is a small motel with only 20 rooms. All rooms have air conditioning, microwaves, refrigerators, and stone fireplaces. There are also TVs, coffeemakers, hairdryers, and phone lines. The rooms are simple and meant to be a comfortable place to rest at night or between your outings.

The Carmel Hill Del Monte Pines Motel doesn’t have a restaurant on the property but there are some good choices for food not far away. P.F. Chang’s is very near to the motel. The motel does have grills on-site that guests are welcome to use for grilling up something delicious. Other choices in Monterey include Monterey’s Fish House, Hula’s Island Grill, Rosine’s Restaurant, and El Cantaro.

The motel has an indoor pool for guests to enjoy. Fisherman’s Wharf is within a decent walk of the property or just a quick car ride. There is some good hiking in the area, as well as golfing. There is the Monterey Bay Aquarium not far away. There’s also lots of good places to go cycling around the bay. Guests can get out on the water too. It’s a great area for sailing and whale watching at certain times of the year.

The Carmel Hill Del Monte Pines Motel gives travelers to the Monterey area a nice place to stay for not a ton of money. The location is great for people wanting to be close to the water but not pay exorbitant prices.

Guests say
Guests appreciated the convenient location of the hotel, with many noting its central proximity to supermarkets and attractions in Monterey. The friendly staff and cleanliness of the rooms were also highlighted positively. However, several guests voiced strong dissatisfaction concerning the outdated facilities, uncomfortable beds, and lack of functioning amenities like air conditioning and TVs. Many reviews pointed out that the hotel did not meet expectations regarding value for money, with some feeling overcharged for the experience.

Pros (+) The gentleman at the front the desk was nice. The motel is near a Whole Foods Market. The motel is also centrally located and is within a short drive to wharf and downtown.
Cons (-) Everything is old. Walls were thin. Curtains had holes which allowed for outside light. Overall, this place was dingy and not worth what we paid.

Pros (+) They have fire places in some rooms.
Cons (-) Found hair on the bed,& in the shower. The TV didn't work, nor did the alarm or one light. Main door did not properly close and light was coming in threw cracks.. very thin walls, could hear people in next room talking. The bed felt old and broken, the bed sheets were, well they were only top sheets. If you're so cheap you can't afford CAL KING bed sheets, maybe you shouldn't have a motel.....

Pros (+) Great location, able to book a room last minutes
Cons (-) The facility is very old, and the walls are not sound proof at all. If you stay at a room near the stairs, you will hear cracking noise from the wood while people walking up and down. The heater was broken and the wifi is super slow. The beds are clean but the pillows are hard and flat. While the staff are generally very nice but they don't speak English very well, so it's not exactly easy to comm...

Pros (+) I will NEVER stay here again.
Cons (-) They advertise $135 for 3 days including 10% tax...HOWEVER they charge $189 for the stay because of the tiny print indicating there is a $15 Room Service Fee. The owner had the audacity to laugh at my shock/distress...I work very hard for what little $ I earn and I tightly budget my spending. Also it doesn't feel good to be duped in this manner...I later checked: most motels in Monterey charge a $...

Pros (+) It had a fireplace.
Cons (-) Expensive! The toilet was not secured to the floor, nor was the seat to the toilet. Bed was very old and sagged quite badly on both sides. The whole place seemed quite run down.

Pros (+) N/A
Cons (-) I am still surprised no one has called the health department yet and shut down this place. The towels were stained and gross, when I asked for new ones the front desk man/manager grabbed 3 other towels with his greasy hands and put them on the dirty counter, they were touching the floor and he gave them to me as cleaner ones...they also had stains. The shower curtain had mold..a lot of it, the flo...
