The rooms were spotless and even smelled clean. Staff was nice and helpful! Our friends stayed 2 miles from us for an additional $100. Wish we had a mini fridge... But we found out some rooms do have them so we will ask for one the next time we stay here.
I had to ask the front desk 2x to have our room cleaned and then on my was back to our room I saw the housekeeper and asked to make sure she made the beds and gave us a fresh set of towels. Neither were done. I think our room was swept maybe once during our entire stay. I ended up going out to Dollar Tree to pick up cleaning supplies to clean the room myself. The only good things here are the people at the front desk are friendly. There were laundry machines. But even then, one out of the two machines was broken. The phone in the room didn't work. And there were ants under the bed. How do I know this. Because they hadn't mopped my floor I decided to wipe it down after my shower. Wish one of their towels. Black. Black cone off the floor in addition to hair and mini (alive, too) ants. Disgusting.
Leaving, which I did after inspecting the room. On my first attempt, was. Given a key to a room already occupied. Shortly thereafter, was solicited by a resident prostitute. I declined. The second key opened a room reminiscent of some third world country though, frankly, a small child leaning on the door would have opened it. There was a pro forma lock, but no real deadbolt, and the gap between the door and the doorjamb would have easily allowed anyone to defeat the lock. There was dim fluorescent lighting, but even this was sufficient to reveal soiled sheets, complete with cigarette burns. Unless you're down and out, or feeling that you need to be a little more depressed, save yourself the trip.
The Grantmoore is a dirty, dangerous dump. As a middle aged tough male traveling alone I am used to rough conditions so I tend to ignore warnings, but this was too extreme for me. There was not even a nightstand for my gun so I slept with it loaded in the bed. Locks do not work, doors look like they have been forced open and bent, smell of drugs and suspicious characters everywhere, everything in the room in severe disrepair. I wouldn't even recommend it for short stays with prostitutes- I have my pride and would be ashamed to bring a prostitute there.
Nothing Hair was all over the bottom sheet...the long strands of black hair stood out the most....so I could not sleep on the sheet. KAYAK indicated that the motel had wifi, but the motel attendant at the front desk said that there was none. The toilet had been used prior my entering the room, so it was not cleaned. The TV, which was not even a flat screen TV, was old. There was a fridge in the room, and I noticed some burn marks on top of the fridge...one burn mark in particular gave the impression that a hot glass pipe had been set on top of the fridge. There was one bar of soap that seemed old...the packaging of the soap seemed to be weak and deteriorating. No small bottle of shampoo was provided. The motel sits atop a very steep hill, so be careful when you park....make sure you have your emergency brake on. This place is best suited to be rented by the hour for extracurricular activities rather than legitimate travel.
