Overview

The upscale Hyatt Union Square New York offers stylish accommodations and solid amenities just one block from Union Square. The features and more make it one of the best bets in the area.

The Hyatt Union Square New York is located on a busy commercial area of Manhattan, at Fourth Avenue and East 13th Street. The diverse Union Square is just one block and 14th Street is also nearby with bars, restaurants, and shops in both directions, and from the subway station at Union Square, travelers have access to anywhere in Manhattan. Plus, being on the L subway line means easy access to the clubs in the Meatpacking District and the fashionable arts, music, restaurant, and bar scene in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Central Park, Times Square, the Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty are just short subway rides away.

Like most New York hotels, amenities are limited. The hotel offers a fitness center and meeting rooms, but the highlights are the restaurants. The relaxed atmosphere of Bowery Road provides guests fresh, seasonally-prepared dishes and The Library of Distilled Spirits offer over 1,000 drink choices.

Accommodations come in room and suites but there are a variety of types, styles, and sizes. Between modern studios and luxury New York City hotel suites, rooms at the hotel offer oversized windows and NYC street views. Guests can choose from rooms that overlook Fourth Avenue or 13th Street or something quieter like the courtyard or indulge in a one-bedroom suite with a private terrace. All room also come with convenient in-room amenities.

Summary of reviews

Guests say
Guests consistently praised the hotel's excellent and central location, making it convenient for sightseeing and public transport. Some found the rooms clean and comfortable, and a few mentioned friendly or helpful staff. However, there were several complaints about service issues, including unhelpful or rude staff, billing problems, and lack of proper amenities like valet or doorman. Room size was often described as small, especially for the price, and many felt the hotel was expensive for what was offered. Cleanliness was generally satisfactory, though a few noted specific issues. Overall, while the location is a highlight, service and value for money were points of concern.
