Mediocre2.0
Pros: I asked for a refund and left 4 hours after I got there.
Cons: I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy
Mediocre3.1
Pros: Check in time takes almost two hours
Mediocre2.0
Pros: Nothing
Cons: front desk closed at 9pm so they basically robbed me. It looked like a homeless shelter, only crackhead and whores stay here
Excellent8.0
Pros: Rooms were recently remodeled, or at least mine was. Nicely done with some exposed brick, wood floor, tasteful art and fixtures, great bed, big screen TV. Shared bathroom was also freshly and tastefully done, and clean.... But SHARED. I think they may have some rooms w private baths for more $. They were working on the hallways during my stay, but I don't see how they can fully update vintage structure with its narrow halls and losing stairway.
Cons: Street noise.
Excellent9.4
Pros: It was one block from where we needed to go the most often. My husbands favorite coffee place was next door. (Petite abelle). The staff was friendly and helpful. And the room was newly renovated with high ceilings and a very pretty contemporary style. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: Some rooms in this place have a shared bathroom. I booked one with a private. Still this seems to be a common thing in nyc so be careful when booking. We stayed in room 207 which was newly renovated. The only thing lacking was individual temp control, which we fixed with a space heater. A refrigerator and microwave would have been nice too. The room was very small, not good for more than two people.
Good7.1
Pros: The renovated rooms were very nice, however, they had been recently painted and the fumes were overwhelming, so I was transferred to one of the older, non-renovated rooms. Although the bed and furnishings were new (sheets, pillows and wall mounted TV, the walls (paint and plaster) and carpet were what you would expect in a no-tell motel. Also, most of the rooms "shared" a bathroom. Your bedroom had it's own door and you had to leave your room to go into a bathroom which was used by another room. It worked out fine. Still, it is a great value ($65/night booked in advance) for the location! There's a cute french cafe next to it for breakfast and you're never in the room (very small as most NYC hotel rooms) anyway.
Cons: It was a 5 story walk-up building - no elevator. After looking at 2 rooms (one without a window! and both freshly painted/smelly) we were transferred to the 5th floor and it was a struggle getting the luggage up the 4 flights of stairs (main floor/1st floor). It will be a very nice hotel once the renovation is completed.
Excellent9.7
Pros: Great value, comfortable. Perfect for a place to crash after spending all day in the city.
Cons: Theres no elevator
Good6.2
Pros: In general it appeared to be a nice place.
Cons: Got a GREAT deal on Kayak. Upon arrival we were given a different room than one we booked. Room we were given should not be rented to paying guests. It was ONLY guest room in the basement, in between boiler room and laundry room. Likely a converted utility closet. Garbage bags in hallway, staff yelling to each other and playing music in laundry room at 7AM. Can't help but think we were assigned this room as 'punishment' for getting such a good deal (nearly half off website price).
