everything was as it should be for a 5 star !! clean, efficient, peaceful, all went very smoothly! one member of the staff was very rude and I am sure will be his own undoing!
The pool was lovely and the setting was fantatstic. There was a variety of areas. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were unresponsive to a request to fix a broken item. This gave an impression that the hotel was uninterested in client comfort. The reviews had promoted a 5 star experience and this aspect meant it did not reach this standard.
This is a very luxury and well designed place for a stay a romantic with all the pools and the whole complex!
Luxury, location, spacious , clean The room needs an arm chair(s) in room
It was relaxing, modern, excellet facilities, great staff and fantastic weather for the middle of winter.
During our stay the towel was not very clean coz I saw three times the hair in the towel.
Amazing location walking distance from the harbor with many shops and restaurants within the same complex. Luxurious and modern rooms without feeling pretentious. Breakfast service was $20 and most of the buffet choices were unappetizing; the omelettes and French toast prepared on request by the chef were pretty good but overall there are likely better options around Cairns. The pool was really nice but closed unusually at 8pm.
The proximity to the harbor, the restaurants and the facility was top notch. We loved our stay.
Very disappointing hotel more like 2 stars. Very old not Kleenex bad service. Value for money zero. Don't stay here!!!!!
We wanted to be able to relax and unwind at our first destination in Australia, this was definitely the place, the pool was very relaxing and the sunrise on the marina side was breathtaking. They had our room ready and allowed us to check in early. They also had complementary champagne and chocolates upon arrival. They also upgraded our room to a higher level so we had a better view of the bay. The location is with in walking distance to everything, including the ferries at the marina. All in all one of the best parts of our stay was the staff, they were all so welcoming, accommodating and extremely pleasant (esp Kelly and Luke!). I would definitely stay here again. pool furniture showed some signs of wear.
Friendly and helpful staff. Close to pier, shopping, restaurants, and anything you would need really. Nice clean rooms. Large bathroom. Beautiful pool. Wifi reception was poor in the rooms.
The staff were awesome; generally very friendly This hotel is not representative of the Shangri-La group, and I struggle to see how it maitains a 5-star rating. The showerdid not drain properly, grit between the shower tiles is black in places, the fan is chipped, carpet stained, phone's "quick dial" buttons did not work, and the room is old and dated and sparsely furnished.
Had a great expereince at the resort, nice and relaxing after spending the month travelling around Oz. Would strongly recommend this to friends and family
The dining facilitywas great The surcharge of 1.5 % was not mentioned till I was about to pay the account even though I booked via the net
Location and Restaurants very good. The whole complex is need of uplift, however rooms still comfortable.
The staff were friendly & efficient, food good, room comfortable, and location superb. We didn't get to stay long enough....
close proximity to restaurants, beach and other tourist destinations plus the relaxing enviornment
Friendly and very helpfull staff, nicely decorated room
Was close 2 whr we needed to be.the pools were fantastic & owner was friendly.gave us our keys early without charging us an early entry fee.lovely surroundings. There was an alarm goin off from 20.00pm & was still goin wen we woke up.However it was coming from the place next door so in no way was it their fault.
We loved the location, close to everything, quiet and right in the middle of the town
Basic room - friendly staff - not cheap despite off season - good but not great dining opportunities - good beach for running
We had a spa suite, which had plenty of room and big Jacuzzi. Internet Connection was faster than anywhere else in hotels in Australia. .. Internet connection was a bit messy to use, only 3 hour and ½ hour coupons. As an ICT pro... I was told by personnel , that I can't use it properly (lowers the personnel grade...)
Very nice location on the beach with magnificent trees. Nice pool, restaurants nearby.
He front desk ladies were always nice and helpful and the amenities they offer like beach towels, bikes etc were great!
The staff were extremely helpful and had a bottle of champagne waiting for us when we arrived. The first rooms airconditioning did not work, we were shifted to another room. But it was not a studio apartment it was a tiny hotel room. The bathroom had quite a bit of mould in it and the whole room could have had a better clean. When the tissues and soap ran out they did not replace them.
The location was excellent in respect to the beach, Cairns, the Daintree and Port Douglas
Even no luxurious, the rooms are very comfortable and nice. the hotel is just in front of the swimming area (net) on the beach. The swimming pool at the hotel is also very nice and quiet during the night, there is no front desk attention, the internet room is closed and there is no possible to vending machines availables
Spacious rooms The fee for having internet access is outrageous (29$/day); also, breakfast is not exactly cheap (25$).
Great location, very beautiful rooms and bathrooms. Good management department who are very prompt.
Welcoming staff; comfortable and quiet room as per our request. Very pleasant ambience. This was our second stay and the improvement over the first visit in both physical facilities and staff friendliness was considerable. tNothing negative.
The lobby is gorgeous. There is elegant moulding throughout the rooms. Pool appeared large. Room service (spaghetti) serving was small but very delicious (and quick and they called back with a correction to a statement about their menu). I was able to check in early. Location is fantastic. They're next door to shops, grocery store, bar, and casino (including "The Dome"- indoor rainforest), and they're a small block away from the marina (where the reef boats take off from) and fantastic dining (the Pier area). This hotel is a good compromise for still having a nearly high-end experience but saving some money. By U.S. standards it would probably achieve a 3.5 star rating (Aussie ones run higher). Ac was off (set too high to be on) when I entered the room, so it smelled (I spent 1/2 an hour looking for signs of mold, but didn't see anything that suspicious). Eyelash on pillow, massive build up of soap scum/residue on ledge in shower/bathtub, tables unclean (sticky, food, marks), bathroom floor a bit sticky (but had had a good seemingly recent waxing, so it was very bright/pretty). The room overall was clean just not "that clean".
Location was excellent, good helpful staff, good quality room & furnishings Did not like having to pay extra for Internet use.
Well priced , clean, friendly staff appropriate for my needs although only a quick visit. Checking out was a little slow.
The pool was fantastic and the gym facility were great. Our entry cards kept failing - which meant plenty of trips to reception to get it sorted which was a bit of a pain - especially when we had to wait in line. Also - for the price of the rooms, they could update the television sets - they were a bit old and crappy.
The location of the hotel was good, close to the sea and the marina but also close to the center and all shops, restaurants and activities. There was no pool bar open/available.
Nice pool area, subject to the comment below. There are only two umbrellas on the entire pool deck which is a problem given the climate
Hotel delivers what it promises on its website. Palatial, well maintained, well serviced, well everything. Fantastic pool (and service at the pool). Nice rooms, excellent mattresses (you'll want to buy one after sleeping on one!), good views. I wish I could stay longer there :)
Very comfortable bedroom with pleasant views. Nice pool. Poor organisation in dining room. Waited 45 mins for a la carte when later arrivals, ordering same meal, were served promptly. Spoilt what otherwise would have been an excellent stay!
Fantastic Gym, lovely pool and spa, fantastic view of mountains from mountain view rooms. Nice amount of space in rooms. Only that there was no microwave in the room for heating things.
We were offered the opportunity to join the Priority guest program and told that discounts would apply to our accomodation and food immediately. We joined straight away and subsequently a card was left in our room. When checking out we presented the card but were told that it did not apply to our accomodation with that stay, nor did it apply to breakfasts or to room service and that we should have presented the card when actually eating in the dining room. When we said that this had not been explained to us we were told it was in the booklet which accompanied the card - which we neverreceived. We felt that the 'selling' of the Priority Guest card was deliberately deceptive and it left us with a very sour taste.
1. Good view of the Pacific Ocean 2. Good arrangement for tour reservations, airport transportation, etc. 3. Good internet access 1. Air conditioning often too strong 2. Dining room services not so excellent
The rooms were clean and modern. Good laundrey facilities. Fantastic pool with access to gym and hot tub. Lovely views and a short walk to town centre. The hotel bar and restaurant were quite expensive.
Location and harbour view, undercover parking, availability of services. Room not tidied until the afternoon. Tissues not replaced in bathroom last 2 days. No information at Tour Desk on national park walking sites, local towns, countryside (all focused on purchasable operator tours & facilities)
I enjoyed the water front view along with the location just a short walk to the city. According to the website, it says that you offer a airport shuttle which I thought was free, but instead I had to catch a taxi from and to the airport.
Very helpful stuff, great rooms, high value for money and perfect location. Quite pleasant stay. n/a
Views were great both mountain view and ocean. Even nice location about 10 minutes to city center along the great esplanade. Very very dated needs complete Reno. Plus they must not look up when they clean. All the vents and doors were sooo dirty We stayed in a two bedroom condo which could have been wonderful expect the furnishings were so old and made everything feel so unclean. Plus 6 nights and no new towels etc. wifi slow or non If privately own condos they shouldn't rent people's who aren't updated as $200 per night and it was 2 star only
The bartender luke was very professional They gave disable room with garage view , no transportation and no room service even when I checkin at 1130 pm . Shame when the hotel was empty. They need to learn some management hospitality.
I liked the swimming pool. The restaurant downstairs has a delicious Seafood Buffet with nice, friendly staff. Rude receptionist. Room was very noisy (opposite laundry). Staff did not announce themselves before entering my room. No linen provided for my daughter's sofa bed and it was too lumpy to sleep on anyway so we had to share for the week.
Excellent friendly helpful staff great location totaly relaxing and enjoyable stay
Comfortable and quiet.Good amenities Enjoyed our stay
The staff was helpful and non intrusive, the room was changed promptly when we clarified that the bedding arrangement was not as agreed. Overall a very good experience. The lifts were daggy and slow and the carpets were not vaccumed every day. However, that was not a big drama.
It was close to the centre of Cairns but not so close that it was noisy Nothing
The location was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. The matresses were too soft.
We enjoyed the night concierge Brian who was especially friendly and helpful at our departure. Our room had the slight smell of smoke, which was unpleasant given that we had our 2 children with us.
I'ts location on the Esplanade The amenitiies in the room were dilapidated. Staff said that renovations were being considered but that doesn''t helpthe guest who is allocated a roomat present in one ofthese old rooms.
Location. View. Rooms No complementary breakfast
Location Furniture a bit dated
Location. Had ocean front room Should have to buy towels for the pool....that's really not cool. Heat you spa, most people like a hot spa. Tv and phone didn't work, wanted to switch hotels
The proximity to the centre, the helpful staff and the general atmosphere. Bathrooms could be better appointed, ie tiling.
Helpful pleasant staff and location of the resort Condition of carpet and rug
The hotel is very centrally located within the palm cove village and access to captain cook highway for touring is very convenient. The swimming pool was quite large and one can have a good swim. The pool was not crowded as some thought the water was cold. We experienced a lot of noise due to pool deck maintenance. One had to endure daily pressure blasting and blower noises which spoilt our stay. Guests should be advised prior to booking of noisy activities and or room rates adjusted accordingly.
Room was very nice and clean with alot of utensils to use. Staff was very helpful throughout our stay and pool was beautiful with nice surroundings that were relaxing. Room service would have been nice and the option to have breakfast included in our stay would have been nice.
lobby ambience, location to restaurants and shops, pool (albeit water was quite chilly!) , day bed in room the couch in room was stained, we had to ask for clean towels after 2 of a 4 day stay (it would have been nice if they had been offered), young ladies on front desk were a little immature especially handling my partners query as to how long it would be before our room to be avail/ready when he arrived at 11.30am - he kept being told 1/2 hr but it ended up being closer to 2.5 hrs - they shouldn't have kept saying 1/2 hr more.. it just frustrated him, especially when they showed no empathy (which is why we felt they were somewhat immature).
The space design, fittings and decor of the apartments, the shopping and restaurants the peaceful and simply beautiful ambience.
The atmosphere created by the hotel decor epitimised the laid back relaxing surroundings of the Palm Cove location. The hotel and location was beautifully designed and captured the tranquility of the area.
Very helpful staff including Jane at head office who organised our accommodation and also front desk staff who were helpful and knowledgeable about trips and places to visit accommodation was basically very good excellent layout and everything you need but felt the couch, chairs and carpets were in need of a good clean which really let accommodation down
It was in a good position, and the staff were friendly I thought that the prices of food and drink were too high.eg Breakfast @ $30 odd is way over the top.As a result of this,we never drank or ate at the hotel facilities-you could get a lot more business with reasonable prices.
Location, views, comfort. I should have realised but the photo's of the rooms is nothing that you receive. I was disappointed when I got to my room compared to the photo's and I think i paid premium rate for a medium class room.
The huge comfortable bed
The room was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The sauna was out of order
Good location, close to conference centre, staff helpful, rooms clean, pool available No
Nice and friendly staff, even the most basic rooms feature a whirlpool and are huge. Room was advertised on booking.com as having a Sauna and did not.
Receptionist is very good and helpfull. They tried to help quest while checking-in and out. Hotel has a small fitness and equipment.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable suite with good balcony view. Easy walking distance to major attractions, the seafrontand good restaurants and shops.Upgrade to suite at reasonable cost
comfort of hotel room especially the lighting, the bed, the bath and the shower
All round excellent experience. Well done Pullman!
We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn. I would certainly return there if we come again to Cairns We have no complaints
Lovely view, comfy beds and the choice of pillow types! It would've been nice to have a coffee plunger and real coffee, instead of instant. Bathroom was a bit snug but well appointed.
This hotel room was exceptionally clean, the staff were nice, and bed was very comfortable. Internet is available for a fee and you can log on and log off. The hotel is right on the edge of the busy part of the Esplanade, far enough away for a quiet night's sleep. Underground parking is available too.
Excellent service!!!! The hotel was absolutely beautiful, the excursion specialist was amazing ( she knew her stuff), the restaurant inside the hotel was delicious, and the location was perfect!!! This was our favorite hotel in Australia!!!! :)
Fantastic location. Outdoor area between rooms a bit run down.
Quiet location and within easy walking distance to the city centre and shops. The pillow is not that all comfortable
The kids really enjoyed the crocodile slide and pool. Good veiwing for the parents. Good to use Accorr advantage card and get discount The sports centre was privately run. The cost of pool, squash, golf and bikes added up.
Family friendly, great location near the beach and restaurants, great facilities in the room. Very hard to find.
The quite surroundings
The swimming pool only. For the last three days, the room wasnt cleaned as well as the first 5 days. The room smelt on the first day of mould and uncleanliness but from the 2nd to the 5th days it was quite clean. No smells and bed lined was changed every day. After that, the room was not attended to as well. It began to smell again (floor was not mopped clean enough) and the bed lined was not changed. Very very disappointed. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Also, restaurant staff was absolutely rude. No manners at all. Basically, they don't give a damn. Some millionaire obviously owns the chain and doesnt give a damn either, otherwise he would be hiring more personable staff. Also, the laundry was the biggest rip off.
The staff that we had dealings with were all excellent - really friendly and helpful and genuinely nice people who wanted to provide top service which is a pleasant change these days. My husband really enjoyed playing golf on their pretty course and the amenities generally were all good. Our room was often not made up until late in the day which was a bit of a pain but the hotel was quite full and it was Easter so they were probably short staffed at the time. The room wasn't very clean on arrival and seemed to get only a very quick service during the four days that we stayed - fortunately the bedding was very clean though.
We stayed only one night, on route from Cairns Airport and found it comfortable and convenient. Spacious well appointed room and good breakfast
The staff were very helpful when we enquired about tours. Also, the check in process was very quick. Also, from our room (636) we saw a wallaby outside our balcony. Really nice to wake up to something like that! Hotel was fine.
I enjoyed my stay at the Cairns Hilton. I found it comfortable and the service was very good.
excellent location with good room facilities and view. the restaurants are also reasonably priced and considerable quality.
Staff were great. Room was satisfactory. Location great.
Location. Friendly front desk staff.
The upgrade to the refurbished room The pool set up was very average
The location was good and the staff were polite and helpful. The bathrooms are getting old and the roomservice was unable to supply a bottle of french chanpagne, when ordered
A thoroughly good hotel - perfect location, brilliant staff and an exceptional breakfast! The pool is the largest I have seen in a hotel. We had caught a fish on a charter boat and the chef cooked it for us, with a delicious soup and salad accompanying it.
I liked the welcome , helpful and friendly staff and the ambience I did not like that the bath tub in our room had a small chip on the rim.Maybe the maintenance staff were unaware of the damage.. It was a jarring note in otherwise comfortable and lovely accommodation
Friendly and helpful staf, well appointed room with very comfortable bedf
all the staff were very nice and helpfull the first room was a bit noise but the staff kindly allocate me in another room
We booked the executive room - with the description "with panoramic Esplanade & water views" given on booking.com we expected to be facing the waterfront the esplanade is located at. However, the water view was restricted to see part of the harbour/marina and was majorly obscured by the Hilton and the Reef Hotel (Casino). The staff wasn't helpful at all - they argued that the Hilton is "kind of new there" and that they would have to change the description they gave booking.
Location bery handy to everything Retsaurant staff laked friendliness & personality. No smiles. Your cleaning or domestic staff where very friendly.
Location Breakfast is boring without any change.
The location of the hotel is very good. Rooms were very clean. Price was fair (maybe a bit expensive but still ok) /
I was there less than 24 hours. I did have reason to make some enquiries with the reception staff and they were very polite and helpful. No
Self contained with cooking facilities and implements, sea view but it has to be paid for I did not like to pay an additional $40 for my daughter to sleep on the sofa bed. The felt room was pricy for this time. The fact that I got tinea from the spa bath having a shower did not help.
clean and quiet
Location was very central to all shopping areas in Cairns.
Ver nice hotel, location very good breakfast quite expensive
Location was perfect. They were happy to let us leave luggage when we checked out to go diving for 4 days as we were returning after.
