Didn't feel like a hotel room at all. Actually its a bed and breakfast. Owners very nice and always willing to accomodate. Room was spectacular and had its own very nice bathroom. In the middle of town and convenient. Nice front porch to relax on with a cup of coffee. A little cluttered in lobby but I guess that also makes it homey.
Incredibly great owners! Dave and Justine have really thought of everything possible to make their guests feel comfortable, welcome and at home. Tons of little touches in the room to make our stay special. (I scarfed the biscotti, and new ones kept showing up every day! Nobody ever said "wow, you really like biscotti, eh?") The bed was very comfortable and had every extra we could want. Dave has instructed at the Culinary Institute of America and makes breakfast every day so you can guess how well that turned out. My wife has a gluten allergy and they worked with that seamlessly. We explored the Catskills during the day and Justine gave us detailed suggestions about exactly the kind of hikes we were interested in. We had a great stay and would enthusiastically recommend the Smythe House to our friends! Having to leave.
quiet location. Clean but dumpy. the bed was awful..better to have slept on the floor. We had to leave before our time was up because of this. Lots of stairs to climb to the room. The place needs fixing up esp. painting!
Very nice, clean, quiet. just a few minutes off the Taconic parkway and 12 minutes to Reinbeck or Redhook. You will not find anything in town unless you pay double. Nothing. All good
Staff very friendly and efficient Shelf over sink was badly located. Near the road....traffic noise
price Wasn't near Red Hook. Way out in the middle of nowhere
