Cons: The furnishings need updating. The bedding needs updating with better quality pillows, down comforters, white duvets. Its a little old fashioned. Would like to see an updated kitchen and it would be helpful if the service understood the history of the home and surrounding areas. Would also be nice to have less sugary options for breakfast.

Pros: This new hotel is a gem. If there was an option for 6 stars I would have rated it a 6. The room was very large and comfortable, the common spaces in each floor we're inviting and unique. The staff was helpful and friendly. The attention to detail (cookies at turndown a vintage radio with Bluetooth, stocked refrigerator, and a spacious and well appointed bathroom) all made for a perfect stay.

Pros: Maybe the best non-resort hotel we've ever stayed in. The hotel was beautiful and furnished to perfection. Great staff.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were there for a ski weekend, but it was far too cold the second day. The person at the front desk asked us what we were looking to do and made a list of things for us to do along our ride home.
We loved the rooms. Bathrooms were great. We are now looking for an excuse to go back to Pittsfield so we can stay there again.

Cons: The location was not great. North Street is under construction and Pittsfield a little far afield from Tanglewood etc but honestly worth the drive for the comfort of the hotel.

Pros: From the moment we arrived at the Shaker Mill Inn we instantly felt at home. We walked into our room and the lights were on, music was playing, the electric fire place was on, and there was wine, compliments of the owners. The room was extremely clean and well-kept and full of little personal touches. We stayed for two nights and went skiing at Catamount during the day. It was just a half hour drive from Catamount and worked out for us very well.

Pros: The innkeepers provided a small bottle of wine as a welcoming gift, there is an electric fireplace for ambience and you can eat the provided breakfast in your room. There are games and movies available and the innkeeper was very informative. Also they provide robes, have a fridge, toaster oven and microwave in the room. Ice is in the freezer. The woman who is part of the cleaning staff (Kim I believe) was very nice when we were leaving. Unfortunately my elderly mom was ill at 2:00pm the night before from eating fried food and I cleaned up as best I could. Kim was very sweet and expressed her concern and said not to worry about anything. Can't say enough about the owners and staff. They are there to meet your needs and ensure that you enjoy your stay.

Cons: Only suggestions would be to have a wall mirror in the living area so when one guest was in the bathroom the other could get ready outside. Little plates would have been nice for our bagels, quiche and other baked goods. Not major inconveniences by any means.

The Kemble Inn is in a great spot for easy walking throughout Lenox, has beautiful public spaces, elegant and delicious food and a warm and friendly staff. It is undergoing renovation and the rooms that are completed promise a top quality hotel experience when the renovation is finished.

Pros: We had come specifically to attend programs at Tanglewood & maybe some things extra. We went to the Norman Rockwell Museum and two galleries nearby. We had coffee & breakfast in, picnic lunches, and dinners at the Inn. The meal food & service are excellent & my companion has food allergies. The swimming pool was calming and beautiful, even for my quick morning swim in a light rain. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The frosting was Simon = the beautiful, big cat that roams about the Inn.

Cons: We were in Steves' House, not the primary inn. It turned out to be a delight. It is a half block away. There was a small, but fully efficient kitchen, with ice machine & coffee maker. The tennis courts were across the street. I grew up less than 45 minutes away, but hadn't stayed for at least 20 years. Old things can get even better with time.We will definitely return as it is a pleasant & easy drive from the New York City metro area, well maybe not in a January snow storm, but I have no doubt that there would be a smiling face at the front desk when we arrive.

Cons: The main building of Cranwell is breathtaking, and the prices are what you would expect to stay in such a historic and beautiful place. However, our room was in an adjacent building, circa 1963. It was pretty nice, but definitely more like what I would expect for $300 rather than $500. Perhaps on their website they make it more clear that you aren't staying in the main house, but booking through Kayak I was surprised to get less than I thought I'd paid for.
I found the walls to be pretty thin in the building we stayed in (Founders).
