Dinners where yummy at restaurant pool was super clean rooms where clean staff was nice and helpful
The beds where horrible and hard was the only complaint
The two restaurants, pool side room , the staff , it was just a me place, the atmosphere, the room service, I can't think of a negative aspect.
I had a positive experience, no complaints
I LOVED that the property was centrally located to the ALL our chosen destinations! Just minutes from Old Town, the San Diego Mission, University Heights shopping, Balboa Park and not too far from downtown. We stayed here because of the retro/nostalgia vibe and the property did not disappoint in that regard. I can't really comment on the pool area other than it looked very clean and well-kept. We got in a little late, and it was a little too cool to use it by the time we got back from dinner. I know other reviewers have commented on the "noise" factor from the pool, but this was not a problem for us and our room was just adjacent to the hot tub. The room was fairly well appointed furniture wise and the pictures do represent the room well. It was also nice that the room was equipped with a small refrigerator and a coffee maker. Our room was in decent shape with the exception of a big carpet snag as you walked into the bathroom area. Apparently they do have rooms without carpet, presumably for patrons with animals. I would have opted for that had I known in advance as I HATE carpet! Overall, I would have to say that the room was well-maintained and clean. I would think this property would be ideal for families or business travelers on a budget as long as you don't mind the tight quarters...
When I travel I look for a few things.... the overall "vibe" of the property, the comfort of the bed, the shower experience AND centrally located to the areas I want to visit. The Kings Inn only won points on two of the four criteria for us... I was disappointed that the bed was not as comfortable as other guests had mentioned in their reviews... Let me just say that I sleep on a latex bed which has a softer feel to it. So, if you like a softer mattress, you should look further than Kings Inn it is definitely on the firmer side! The pillows were not a matched set, and I was SO glad that I had brought one of my pillows from home which made it more tolerable. The bathroom here is in one word SMALL! It probably would be fine for a business traveler or a person traveling alone. It has a separate sink from the tub and toilet combo, and that tub/toilet combo room is TINY! Also, while I appreciate the retro/nostalgia vibe, I DON'T appreciate it when it comes to taking a shower! The showerhead was not on par with other properties and the shower handle/mixer I feel like was original to the property (built in the 60's)! The handle was loose and it took a while to get it to turn on without feeling like the handle was going to break off in my hand! I'm a HUGE lover / collector of bath travel soaps, and while Kings Inn did have a their own proprietary soap, lotion and combo shampoo/conditioner it was not anything worth taking for future use or memory... Maybe a retro Ivory or Dial collection would be more in keeping with the vibe... I can't speak to the two restaurants on the property as we had planned to eat at other establishments. But the Waffle Spot restaurant in particular smelled great in the morning with the smell of bacon wafting through the air.. It almost made me change my plans for breakfast! If you like retro/nostalgia places, Kings Inn should certainly be on your short list.
Nice and clean pool and jackuzi
The room was connected with neighbour room by doors, which cannot stop loud and cigarete smoke from occupants.
