I sent you a message that service and facility so bad I had to cancel and stay elsewhere
I hate leaving negative reviews, but I also don't want others to have a poor experience like I did staying at the Hayes Mansion. I even reached out to the general manager before posting this review to let him know what the state of a current guest's experience was like and see if he could correct the situation and he never replied. Truly -- no one cares if you enjoy your stay at the Hayes Mansion. Not even the general manager. So please don't make the mistake we did by giving this hotel your money. Simply put -- the amenities and services are so greatly reduced, it feels like you're paying a lot of money to stay at a hotel for ghosts. It seems the hotel is only in operation for events and hotel guests are barely accounted for in the services -- the only restaurant on the premise is barely open (closed entirely most days, only open for breakfast on Sundays), there aren't even soap dishes in the rooms for your soap bar, there are no housekeeping services -- so enjoy drinking out of the same one paper cup they give you, the doors to the hotel aren't consistently unlocked so you have to wander around trying each door of this massive complex to even get into your building, there are no minibars in the rooms and with the restaurant closed consistently the only way to grab a drink while staying here is to go to the front desk before 11pm (they will not sell you alcohol after 11pm) and hope they still have something for purchase (they were sold out of wine by the early afternoon when we stayed), etc. It's a gorgeous place that costs a lot of money, only to find yourself stranded (it's not in walking distance to absolutely anything) without food, alcohol, services or amenities. You will get better service at a Holiday Inn. Save your money. Vacations are rare. Have a fun one by staying anywhere else.
Pros. Loved the pool!!!
Cons. We did not get what was advertised. The balcony over looking the rose garden was no balcony with a view of the parking lot. The Jr, suite does not have a private bedroom. Staff upon check in were rude.
Pros. Relaxing, outstanding and kind staff, outstanding rooms, homey
Cons. I recommend for any visit, especially relaxing romantic weekend
Pros. We stayed here 1 night in room 121. It was a suite with easy access to the swimming pool. The back door lead right to the swimming pool. The pool looks bigger in the picture but it's still a excellent size. The staff was great and Sunday brunch was delicious. Good hotel to relax and get away from the regular 9-5.
Cons. The only thing I can critique is we were there on a Saturday and there's was nothing special for dinner. The bar food was ok and room service food was ok. No restaurants walking distance but no big deal. Everything was releasing
Pros. Great grounds and plenty of character; a relaxing venue with history and luxury.
Pros. The staff was very helpful when it was found out that the website I had booked through hadn't communicated with the hotel fully and they had to go digging for my reservation. But I got a room, it was very nice, even if a bit cramped, but that didn't detract from my stay. The grounds were very nice. I enjoyed their exercise room, it was more filled out than most hotels. I just wish I had had warmer weather to enjoy the pool and more time to enjoy every other feature of Hayes Mansion.
Pros. Driving up the residential street and coming upon the entrance for the 1st time gives you a feeling of stepping back in time to another era. The attention to detail and the beautiful wood trim all around gave a feeling of a very special place.
Cons. I had only one night to explore the mansion and surroundings.
Pros. Beautiful grounds Nice rework of what was there previously Nice pool and hot tub Good lounge Ample parking Comfortable bed
Cons. Difficult to get to (in the middle of a neighborhood) Staff wouldn't print me a receipt (big issue on business travel) Pool / spa could be open later
