This is an old casual comfortable inn. The house is historic and the furnishings fit the surroundings. The linens and bed were divine and the breakfast was scrumptious! The price was very reasonable and the location was in the heart of town. There mosquitoes in the garden due to recent rains which made it unpleasant to sit and enjoy the very appealing setting. The rooms on the street are a little noisy at night, but had a device with many choices of soothing background sounds which helped.
Building is extremely interesting and the staff was very nice.Great central location with fun restaurants in walking distance.Although the breakfast menu was very creative, it was too sugary for my taste. Coffee was weak for my taste. Carpet on stairway was very dirty. Period wall paper is beautiful, but shows excessive wear, tearing and fading.Decor in our 'Colorado Room' was out of character, somewhat unattractive. Mattress and pillows were worn and need replacing.
Delightful! Walking distance to downtown and river, as well as Texas State campus. Breakfast was served fresh and warm. Plenty of coffee and juice. Nice gardens and upstairs balcony for evening relaxation
