Rooms nicely furnished. Nice view. Quiet Personal in restaurant could have been a bit more attentive. Waited a long time for second cup of coffee. Busy talking with each other. Not many people in restaurant so they had time to check on us.
The unique glass art on each floor. We were on the 7th :). The elevators.
The feel, the professionalism of the staff, the beauty of the hotel. I enjoyed the artwork. I'd really prefer not to pay for parking, but it wasn't a horribly high rate either.
Cleanliness of hotel, and the room service food was good, until it upset my stomach, then I did not like it so munch. Cheap amenities. I have stayed at lesser hotels that had better beds, pillows, coffee makers, bathrooms and TVs. This hotel is far too overpriced. I think I paid for all the art work instead of a quality room. I don't mind paying $300 for a room, but it should include good quality bedding at the least. I will not stay at this hotel in the future.
Thought we were getting a King but was two double beds. And the doubles were the same price as King. You would think for the price you pay it would at least have been two Queens. If we had not prepaid we would have gone to Best Western down the road. At least you would get King or Queen there. The faucet handle was sticky so must not have been cleaned properly and light bulb in lamp was burned out.
Artwork, amenities, atmosphere, and food
The rooms were nice and clean, with nice views of Mt. Rainier. The water didn't work either morning, so I was unable to shower.. only a small discount was given for this huge inconvenience. The oysters were served warm, so I had to send them back for fear of food poisoning. The elevators were broken and/or insufficient for a hotel with so many rooms. No one offered to help me with my bags. The refrigerator didn't work. I was surprisingly disappointed!
Clean comfortable and they had bath robes. Pleasant staff. Had to pay for parking but only a couple of bucks.
Nice comfortable bed. We had no shower curtain, had to call front desk for 1.
Staff was friendly. I liked how you could not hear the other guest. I did not see Any bugs there were massive stains on the carpet the toilet looked as though someone tried to carve through the seat with a knife or key. The floors leaked water from the floors above in the bathroom. Breakfast ran out with no refill for guest ... Not worth the money and not as advertised
They should not use any perfume or scent in cleaning the rooms. It was so strong, I had to get a different room which wasn't quite so bad.
Nothing Hotel was very dirty and in desperate need of repair. Ceiling drywall was falling down due to a roof leak, paint was chipping off ceiling in bathroom, carpet and chair in room were stained. Nasty- I will not book another red lion room
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. My first room was right next to the freeway. I asked to switch and they didn't even flinch and switched me to another room quickly and courteously. Hotel needs some work. Pretty dated and could desperately use a refresh. Air Conditioning might have some sort of temperature limiter on it. Could never get the room cool enough to be comfortable. It would randomly shut off and I could never get it to kick on again no matter how I adjusted the temperature control so I turned it as low as it would go and every hour or so, it would kick on again for a brief period. Felt stuffy the whole time.
We booked a hot tub suite, the room was very spacious. The beds were very comfortable. The room was clean. They had a sign saying the were going to be updating the hotel soon. The hot tub was fabulous. We arrived3d in town early so called to see if we could check in early. It was about 1pm, they said they didnt have a room ready but would call when it was. We never recieved a call so just waited in the parking lot. Finally we went in at 2:45 and still no room ready. They gave us coffee while we waited and room was ready at 3:15. The hallways and rooms are dated, paint splatter on all the tiles. The tvs in the room were low quality and tiny. The cable flickers. The bathroom had no door.
The reception area My room was dirty .... The carpet was torn ...the walls were patched not painted and the sheets had stains on them
Staff was really nice and friendly. Woke up a tad bit late called the front desk and they let us check out early. The only thing that bothered us was the heater was not working at all.
Throw they set up the room was incredible Room was 100% DIRTY. All towels had little stains on it and eo smells like cat!!!
This is a great location -- on the water, within walking distance of restaurants (choose Duke's). Rooms are nice, very clean, have huge TVs, comfy beds, and offer views. I've always been treated well here and only stay elsewhere if they don't have room or if the price is too high. A decent free Breakfast is also served in a great little dining area.
Don't stay on the south end of the building. Parking lot and train tracks are super loud. You'll get no sleep. The north end of the building is over the water and much quieter.
The atmosphere was the best. Cool breeze off Pugent Sound, Jacuzzi tub facing the bay, fireplace to take the chill off when you get out of tub, high quality bedding, spectacular view. Enough said. Hot breakfast was above average, staff helpful and friendly. If you are the Tacoma area do not miss this hotel. It is well worth it. Only wish we could have stayed a second night.
The setting was beautiful with view of the water from the room. The room was comfortable. The breakfast had quality food with a good variety of options. The parking was excellent.
The bartender had a very very poor attitude. threw menus and napkins down. seemed very annoyed that we wanted to order food.
The room was nice! Would definitely stay again! Would have liked a restaurant on site....or more food options, rather than having to leave the hotel!!
Facility was clean and the staff was friendly. AC system was not functioning well and the public areas and hallways were hot and stuffy. The elevators are exposed and the afternoon sun would heat them up like a sauna. Rooms were also a bit on the small size-- especially when travelling with a family.
i requested the double queen beds and unfortunately one of the beds were caving and it was very uncomfortable. i was pretty upset with myself first and foremost because i forgot to call the front desk about it. but i feel like the hotel staff should've been aware of this in the first place before checking guests in that room. the room i stayed in was in room 538. anyway, hopefully they'll have that bed replaced!
It was a pleasant stay, everyone was very nice hotel was good nice view of downtown Tacoma reminded me of downtown Portland.
The room was very clean, staff was very friendly, and helpful. The breakfast was great, filling and the ladies working it were wonderful. The tub was very slow draining. When running the water to prepare for shower tub was filling so you're standing in dirty water and can't truly rinse your ankles and feet. The toilet was also slow in draining after flushing it. The water would rise almost to
clean room friendly and informative staff quiet room which I requested even the iron and ironing board were clean and worked well not much to complain about maybe better water pressure in shower and of course could have been cheaper rate but that is always the case
The hotel was very clean, check in and check out were so simple. The beds were comfy and the breakfast was amazing!
Friendly desk staff. Good room. Only a thin blanket on the bed and I don't think any extras were in the closet, which is not ideal if you like to sleep in a colder room with heavier blankets.
Good Location, quiet, comfortable bed and room, pretty good meal. The room I had was pretty run down - large cigarette burn on rug and ripped shower curtain made it look pretty tacky.
The breakfast food didn't cut it for me:(
The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet. The neighborhood is not the greatest.
Access to the hotel was very easy. The front counter staff was very nice and the rooms were clean. The morning breakfast was a joke. Not stocked at all, even with a staff worker there. No butter for toast, no milk for cereal, no spoons, and the eggs sat empty for 20 minutes with a room full of people.
The front desk host help as much as they could for what they had to work with The first room I was put in I walked into an the bed was tore apart sheets all messed up on a chair bed up against the wall an box springs on their sides an got moved from a king size.beddroom bed with jetted tube down to a queen double bed room beddroom with no jetted tube
The free breakfast was decent, the hotel seemed clean and for the most part accommodating...For the price in the area it was inexpensive but still nice enough. It seemed outdated, paint and tile were chipped in the bathroom. The staff ignored me when I can to check in and instead took a phone call of someone else asking really stupid questions. In their defense there was only one person and the desk and she did say it was her first time at that particular property.
NOTHING! THEY WERE NICE ABOUT TRYING TO GIVE US ANOTHER ROOM BUT THEY WERE JUST AS BAD AS THE ONE WE HAD. I WILL NEVER GO BACK NOR EVER RECOMMEND IT. WE GOT A 10$ DISCOUNT FOR OUR ROOM AND WE PAID WAY TO MUCH. THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE SCREENS ON THE WINDOWS.
It was close to the dome. That's it. The front desk staff looked like they were straight out of prison. They were rude and not accommodating. We asked for an extra pillow and they made us wait until 11pm to get one. The soap was open in our room. Not a huge deal. Overall I'd say this hotel needs major upgrades. It should have been a $75 stay at the most. Not over $100. It served our purpose. But would not stay here again.
Lounge was closed a little to early
The walls are thin. Loud noise at night.
Jazmine, at the front desk was so helpful. I had booked a different hotel and it was unsafe and dirty. Jazmine greeted me with a smile and hello and made me feel welcome. I was very frustrated but she was able to claim me and gave me my room. She even booked my next stay in Tacoma. A high five to Jazmine for her incredible customer service No comment
You can tell someone tried to make it nice at one point. Wifi wasn't bad First off I want to point out this is my first review of a hotel ever and I stay in one every week for work. First thing as you get outside of the hotel the air smells terrible. Did every day for our entire stay, which ruins the pool also. Even though it had been updated, it was incredibly dirty. They must not own a single vacuum cleaner because the entire hotel floor was covered dirt, debris, etc. From a distance it looks nice but as soon as you get close its nasty. Once we checked in our bed had a lot of long black hair in it. Obviously not cleaned. He switched our room and of course the hall on the new floor was also disgusting, so at this point I had no confidence in cleanliness of anything which takes all comfort away. We tried going down to the bar and the beer was flat and warm. I couldn't bring myself to try the food after everything else I saw that week. Homeless people hang out in front and in the parking lot. Terrible part of Tacoma, definitely not a safe place to be out.
Rooms were spacious and well appointed. Very quiet even next to the freeway. Staff was very helpful, especially in the restaurant. Hotel is a bit dated, shows some wear, ventilation system was noisy.
A place to sleep Smelled like smoke bad, set off my sons allergies. night desk agent not friendly or helpful
Clean comfortable bed
Nice hotel with high end look and feel. Comfortable beds and clean room with friendly and professional staff. Cafe in the hotel had very limited breakfast menu, and kitchen was shut down for breakfast when we went there at 10AM. Found a breakfast place about 3 blocks away, but would be nice to have breakfast at the hotel.
This is one of the best hotels I have ever used. The staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and eager to make us feel welcome. Everything was clean and comfortable. The location was convenient. No security concerns. I would absolutely stay here again. Nothing.
Hotel is very clean staff was very helpful breakfast was awesome Location was a little hard to find and the security while feeling safe made you nervous that they needed so much
The bed was comfortable and the desk people were really sweet. Check in was friendly, check out was perfect. Very polite, professional and happy to help. There was hair in the shower, the room smelled like smoke and despite the do not disturb sign on the door, housekeeping entered the room four times in one morning. I had to yell, I am still in here while clutching blankets around my, ahem, birthday pajamas. Also, all but one entrance was gated and chained when I arrived after my event, which no one warned me about. I drove around in a bit of a circle until I found the one open and honestly felt a bit shaken walking from my car into the hotel. Despite the obvious need for strict security, I did feel that my car would be safe, since I could barely figure out how to get to the lot.
Overall it was great. Very safe, nice staff, clean and comfy beds and rooms. Really liked the parking situation. Only a couple of downsides: tv channel selection was mediocre. The breakfast was also limited. Slightly overpriced honestly.
I liked the location and the fact that hooters was next door and it was convenient to be close to the locations I was visiting. There was blood stains on the sheets. Bath had high water pressure & sink had low water pressure.
+Price was good. +Location was okay. -The room stank! Smelled like mildew! -There was a lot of smoke in the next room and in the hallways. -The walls and doors seem very thin ... heard a lot of noise and banging doors from the nearby rooms.
There isn't nothing to like here My car was stolen the people works to here didn't help the room was nasty didn't get no sleep
The staff was friendly but not very helpful The room smelled like urine. The carpet was disgusting and couldn't walk on it in bare feet. There were fleas in the room
Great location and helpful staff.
Friendly, efficient front desk Well stocked, delicious variety of breakfast options Friendly, skilled maids Beautiful, quiet room with very comfortable bed Easy freeway access Parking spaces were a bit tight to negotiate
The place is great and our hosts were incredibly nice and friendly - not to mention, Patty is an excellent cook and makes a spectacular breakfast. This is a perfect bed & breakfast in a nice area of Tacoma. Highly recommended.
Loved both hosts. House was clean and accommodations were appropriate. Breakfast was served at 8 am. The house is only a 2 mile walk to the water. Share bathroom, but it was advertised as such, so I knew this going in.
Breakfast was great. Internet worked very well. Shower water pressure was bordeline
So glad I stayed there! Owners Toni & Martin were so welcoming and hospitable, home cooked breakfasts were absolutely delicious, and the house itself is gorgeous, historic, and very unique, in an awesome neighborhood with great views from the many patios
This was our best B&B during our vacation tour over 3 weeks.Friendly homeowners, all what we promised. Thanks to hotel employees. nothing
The breakfast was great, and made to order. The neighborhood was quiet and safe.

Room was quiet, comfortable, and clean. Location was very sketchy. Pool area had no towels and was not too clean.

Great room 106 - room was in the back corner of building away from traffic street. View of a pond was nice! Room was very clean and everything in the room I needed. the staff desk person - She was very helpful! I would stay here again. No
Location was fine, room was clean and well laid out, breakfast was very good and plentiful, price was right, staff (for the most part) was helpful, parking was free. Special offer on door tag was not honored until I pointed out discrepancy to higher staff. I was told door tag was not correct but they would give me the points anyway. Seems very unprofessional to not work out offer before putting it on door tag.
Great location just a short drive from the Puget Sound and downtown.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
The staff was kind, greeted us with a smile and was helpful. This hotel is in shady part of Tacoma, the parking lot is shared with pawn shop, check cashing and other businesses that attract loitering of desperate people. I felt scared in fear of leaving ANYTHING in my car, coming back late or being alone outside.
Friendly staff, good breakfast choices, and convenient location. the room keys didn't work very well. Had to swipe them many times to get the door open.
Nothing The room was extremely ugly and poorly set up. It was so bad that I never wanted to be in my room. The breakfast was below average. The entire hotel needs to be updated. Looking out the hotel window I saw a man PEEING in the public area behind the hotel!

Hotel Employee at the front desk was amazing! What a compliment to the staff at Holiday Inn Express. The room was wonderful, the bed was comfortable and everything was up to expectations. Definitely stay there again. Nothing!
The gentleman in the room next to me was given a key that opened my room. OMG. He asked us if he could try when we were out front. Hus key opened my room and his room. He went to the front desk to tell them about the key. They told him that it was taken care of. He tried my room again. Door opened again no problem. I then went to the front desk. I was told as well that it was taken care of. They never gave him a different key. Luckily the mattresses were hard and lumpy so I was able to not sleep while making sure nobody else had the key to my room as well.
Nothing The hotel
advertised breakfast was a banana & twinkie. Nothing to drink. No coffee, milk, juice, water.
I enjoyed sleeping Having to fight the cockroaches for my soap
For an overnight stay that you're trying to do on a budget, this place is awesome. There aren't too many frills or fancy things about the hotel. Most of the rooms are pretty dated, but if that doesn't bother you, than this place is great. It's clean and everything, just not modern. Check in was a little slow but it wasn't that bad.
Wonderful breakfast Friendly, supportive staff clean and comfortable
What should have been a two night stay for our attendance at the U.S. Open in Tacoma, WA, turned into a seven night stay as my husband unexpectedly went into septic shock, and had to be moved by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment and subsequent emergency surgery. As expected, there were no rooms available anywhere due to the golf tournament. However, Sandra and her staff at the Tacoma Shilo Inn not only made sure I had a room for the entire week of my necessary stay, but every single day, they made sure to especially inquire as to my comfort and needs. I cannot thank them enough. Everything about my stay was just wonderful and supportive, and took a huge burden off of me as to housing so far from our home in Oregon.
24 hour pool access
The rooms were nice and the hotel was clean. Could have had a way better breakfast.
Everything was great. My son loved the chocolate chip cookie pancakes. Vending machines were practically empty
The facility was very clean both inside and out. Quiet location away from the freeway.
Staff was very friendly. Paid way to much thru Kayak....if I had booked thru the hotels website I would have paid $40 less. When I called kayaks customer service I got the run around about rates changing from day to day. I booked hotel on the same day we checked in, so rates wouldn't have changed. When I pointed this out I was given the same verbatim response. Felt like he was reading it from a card..... Will not use kayak again.
Clean and quiet. Outdated saggy carpet.
The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I slept better in this hotel than I have in many others. The walls are a little thin and the Internet didn't connect for us.
Clean room, plenty of space, very quiet, good continental breakfast, and friendly staff. The wireless internet they offer was useless. It couldn't load anything.
This hotel is about 2 years old if that. It is a very nice and friendly hotel. The rooms are clean and have a refrigerator, microwave, phone, internet hook ups, coffee, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, etc. They have breakfast bar in the lobby every morning with a variety of breakfast foods. There is an indoor pool and fitness facility that we didn't use so we cannot comment on that. It looked very neat and clean. The staff was always polite and very helpful. The hotel is located right off of Hwy. 5. It is easy to get to and very close to Ft. Lewis and McChord AFB. We were there to greet our son who was returning to Ft. Lewis from Iraq. This hotel was a wonderful place to stay and we would definitely stay there again in the future. Thank you for a wonderful 5 day stay.
Rooms need updating but really great service, comfy and clean. Felt very safe. Walking distance to ocean access. Feels like staying in the woods with added benefit of being by the ocean. Would recommend!
The hotel was only slightly better than the Best Western in Lakewood, with a much higher advertised room rate, but a far worse location.
Very nice hotel with professional staff, great breakfast, clean rooms with comfortable beds.
When they opened not everything was ready, there was no numbers on speed dail, no book for area eating, and afew details not complete in the room and entry....
I've stayed here twice so far about a year apart from each stay and it is a great place comfortable rooms great continental breakfast and service. highly recommend it easy access right off the freeway as well.
The Rosedale was a good spot to stay. The location is great - right next to Pebble Beach and close to the ocean. The rooms could use some ''sprucing up''. However the jacuzzi tub was nice and the small kitchenette was great to have. It felt like a very safe place to stay. The complementary continental breakfast was good. Definitely a place I would recommend.
Hotel was clean and upscale. Staff was very accommodating, and happy to help with anything needed. Enjoyed the variety of choices for breakfast. Hotel was a little pricy for the area. I would stay there again, but probably would not get the suite for the extra $75. It was the closest Hotel to the event I was attending, and would shop for a more economical price in the future.
This hotel is clean and the staff were great but it is located near a vacant lot and run-down trailer park. It is close to Ft Lewis, which was why we chose it. But I would not stay here again based on its location. We heard loud voices, loud cars, booming music at 2 a.m. one night in the vacant lot next to the hotel. We didn't feel very safe there.
