Location is great. Customer service is phenomenal and the inside is beautiful. Great Hotel. I love that unlike other hotels, it did not smell like smoke. :)

Everything, the staff were the best! The breakfast was nummy! I have stayed there before, I will return again and again!
Very nice and clean! Good amenities! Liked the location!
The property was new, well-decorated, and clean. I inadvertently booked a handicapped accessible room. Unfortunately that included a light switch configuration that meant the bathroom light could not be turned on unless the main switch was also turned on. Watch for that detail when booking.
Staff was very helpful No airport transportation. I asked twice on the phone to confirm that the hotel was picking up the tab for the cab service they suggested. The language barrier was at fault. My taxi service cost me 65.00 Plus a 15% tip via the square. I suggest Uber!
Location was convenient The beds were surprisingly uncomfortable. I almost wondered if someone had swapped out the pillows for some cheap ones. Not what I'm used to from a Sheraton.
Great restaurant next door and close to shopping. Great staff very friendly and helpful. A refrigerator in the room would have been nice other wise everything was excellent.
close to freeway system

Continental breakfast could have been better.
The bed was very comfortable. The room was underwhelming, loud and dirty.
We like to stay at the Embassy because we like the made to order breakfast and the managers reception. The rooms are large and comfortable. We will return next year! My only complaint is that they give you only one wash cloth.
Staff was great. Rooms were very nice. Breakfast was great too. Great value.
Very nice hotel, large rooms, fantastic included breakfast. The only downside was the highway traffic noise, which was inescapable. Request a room that doesn't face the freeway.
Once you check in, you may not want to leave until check out. Everything under one roof is provided. We were greeted in a friendly manner. Very nice atmosphere in the lobby and center courtyard. While a free shuttle was advertised, it had been booked by a whole company for 2 hours in the early morning. a little frustrating, but the staff did suggest alternate transportation (Uber) and that did get me to where I needed to go. The opportunity to eat a complimentary light snack and beverage was appreciated after the stressful I94 drive Corky's Pub was good food at a fair price, fast and efficient wait staff. Made to Order breakfast was wonderful from 6-9 am! Wonderful Chef! PARKING $$$ While absolutely no fault of the hotel, the construction mess around the Capitol is very stressful. People drive too fast and a bit rudely. Be prepared and drive attentively. Not enough parking, It is quite expensive to park around this area.$15/day in the hotel lot for registered guests. Arrive early to get a spot.
We liked that it's close to the freeway -- easy on, easy off. And we really loved the breakfast in the morning -- so much better than a hotel's standard continental breakfast. Was a beautiful, luxurious little getaway for our little family (2 adults and a little baby).
Needed to be close to the hospital. Daughter was very ill. Didn't know how long we needed to stay. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Would recommend this establishment. Comfortable, clean rooms. Laundry available. Food was excellent. Thank you!
Website said free parking and airport shuttle, but where told upon arrival that the website was misleading and the manager was personally working on changing the wording but did not offer anything to make up for the fact that is why I booked with them and they charge more for parking than the near by airport. Also rooms are very small with little to no room for moving around beds and furniture.
comfort of bed and cleanliness of entire facility no free continental breakfast
Very comfortable bed and room. Breakfast was excellent and very affordable. Great service by all staff!
This hotel is extremely clean; modern; king room was plush. The restaurant was not up to par w/rest of hotel.
The beds were comfortable The people in the room next to us where talking so loud it sounded like they were in our room. It was well after 11:15pm and they were still going strong. We had children with us and a long drive the next day. This was very disappointing for us and for the money we spent on a one night stay made us made. Our kids are still yakking about how loud those people were. They would for sure be kicked out of any campground they went to. If we stay with you again we will be sure to ask for a room with no adjoining door between the two rooms and no one next to us. We don't need perfect silence but sleep would have been good. The next morning they were back at it early.
Everything in the hotel is beautiful and tasteful. Our room was great, bed was comfortable, loved the robes. One of the elevators was out of order, we mostly used the service elevators to get up and down. We were not particularly impressed with the staff. They were adequate, not really cordial. Pokemon players outside at night were creepy.
Convenience to Wilkins auditorium It was not as nice as I expected. The room was average. Bedding average hard bed.
Historic elegance No
Beautifully maintained historic hotel in quiet downtown St Paul. Very clean and quiet rooms Need a regular fridge and expensive snacks.
Very friendly staff. Top-notch accommodations. Excellent location in the heart of St. Paul.
Great location when attending an event at the Excel Center.
Delicious, expansive free breakfast Consistent, solid WiFi Relatively convenient location Pool/hot tub area looked amazing though we didn't have a chance to try it Talking/noise outside my patio doors until about 11:30
Pool area was nice, breakfast area is was nice. overall appearance of hotel is respectable. Booked through booking.com. When we arrived I was told since we booked through a service the room selected is not guaranteed and they decided a different room was best for us. Quote from employee "we are overbooked for your room selection, and booking.com doesn't guarantee you'll get your request". What's the point of giving me an option then. If I wanted a 2 queen bed room for my wife and I, I would have booked that. However, I requested a King suite. Not the same. Very disappointed and I don't know who to point the finger at. Also, found some food wrappers under the beds in our room. Apparently not cleaned the best that day.
Clean and comfortable. It was hot and the thermostat didn't work.
It was great being located right off of I94. The pool is one of the better ones I've seen at a hotel with its 9 ft area. Hot tub not so much. Breakfast area was a zoo. It was too crowded and too noisy. Not enough seating. The set up of it made it difficult to get to the variety of food as people were in line to make waffles and standing in front to the other food options. There were a lot of kids here this weekend and they were running up and down the hallways from 9:00-10:00pm. The bed felt lumpy. Overall, it was an ok experience, but I don't think it was worth the amount we paid for 2 nights.
The staff were very helpful, friendly, and prompt. The room was clean for hotel standards, the bathroom was clean and tidy, the sheets too. Breakfast was standard fare (eggs, make your own waffles, sausage, cereal, etc.) and tasted good. We felt very safe the whole stay, even in the parking lot after dark. It did seem a bit pricey at $120 for one night, but that's probably just due to it being located in St. Paul. Other than that nothing bad to report.
Our carpet was wet when we got in our room late night. Talked to front desk the next morning and she didn't even write it down. Said there was no maintenance person on duty.
The location was good and the swimming pool was great for the grandkids. They did not clean our rooms over the weekend. Even though my daughter and I reminded the.
My husband, myself and our 6 month old son stayed here for 2 nights and the entire stay was perfect, from start to finish. We were greeted with a smile and given great customer service right when we checked in and the hotel itself was very clean and smelled great! Every staff member we met (front desk, cleaners) were always friendly and willing to help in whatever way we needed (bringing a crib to our room, extra towels, and so on). Room was very clean and spacious. Breakfast was great, big variety between hot and cold. Fresh coffee in lobby 24/7! Also, indoor pool and hot tub were clean and warm. Super convenient location, right off highway and near many stores, food places, etc. Definitely coming back here. Nothing we didn't like, definitely 10/10 hotel!
The hotel, overall, was very well maintained, staff friendly and rooms clean, beds very comfortable. The breakfast had a wide variety and was well staffed and replenished. The breakfast seating was large enough to accommodation most of the breakfast eaters. Within half an hour of arriving, late, the fire alarm went off which "put a bad taste in my mouth" for the hotel. The staff was very efficient in aiding the guests evacuation and determining the safety for our immediate return which quickly redeemed my opinion. I thought for the money we paid our room was quite small. I had to move the office chair away from the desk to the far side of the room so two people could barely pass at the foot of the bed at the same time.
Comfortable bed, clean room. Great continental breakfast. The hotel gave someone else our room after we already checked in! We were relaxing in our room when another group walked into our room! We called the front desk. They apologized and later gave a free night stay. I asked that they just give one night stay free on our current stay but they said sense we booked on kayak/hotels.com they couldn't do that. The elevator also broke on our first day there and was still broken by the time we left two days later.
You can see they put thought and effort into the decor. The beds were very comfortable.. The staff was very helpful and it was obvious they care about what they do. We especially appreciated help from Lori at the front desk. She got us information about an event in Milwaukee and then found a detailed map of that area, showing one-way roads. She was even able to tell us how much parking was going to cost. The hotel is a great value. We would definitely stay there again.
I love the fact that you use an actual key to get in your room. I love how classy it is yet simple and humble. The view of downtown St Paul is amazing. you are right outside of the lightrail which is very convenient if ur flying or taking the bus. oh yeah and the man I brought. That was the best part! The free breakfast was free for a reason. soft boiled eggs or boiled. The waffle tasted old. fruit was frozen and not fresh. So as it thawed it wilted.
The old world feel about the place. Attentive staff. Exercise facilities. Reasonable cost.
The room - spacious with nice TV, and love the hardwood floors The lobby area - beautiful architecture, comfy chairs The staff - not very helpful, couldn't suggest places to go eat other than "go to Minneapolis - there's nothing good here" Shower - very small Location - granted it was a Thursday, but the hotel felt dead and there was no one at the bar, so staff from the front desk would walk over to the bar to serve people as they came up, and when we finally tried to go out every place nearby was closed or practically empty
Updated room Very clean Free coffee and water Parking not included
Charming Hotel! Beautiful, romantic atmosphere. Multiple lounges with plenty of space to hang out. I had a king delux, with 2 beds, and 2 bathrooms! The beds were really comfortable, and the full kitchenette was much appreciated. The gym and pool were top notch (St Paul Athletic club) The free breakfast was great. Location is 4 blocks to Excel center or Science museum. The window blinds were not enough to fully darken the room, I would have appreciated curtins too.
Bed was very comfortable.
Room was very small.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable. Towels and soaps were good quality. Bathroom needs updating
Comfy beds, quiet. A little dated. Not like it matters.
We choose this hotel because I was having surgery the next day close by. The king size pillow top bed was very comfortable. We had a Lakeview room and the view was nice. The windows opened too, so we could get a nice breeze. All the facilities were clean, staff was friendly. Great stay! There is NO complimentary breakfast, but there is a Dennys next door.
Close to I94 and easy to find. Quiet location with beautiful lake. Having Denny's next door was so nice. I rented 2 rooms, one for my sister & 89 year old Mother and one for myself for 2 days. We went site seeing on Sat. and when we came back in the evening, my sister's & Mother's room was not locked. My Mother put her hand on the door handle and the door just swung open. My sister went to the front desk and someone came with her to the room. Nothing was taken and all seemed well but my Mother was shaken that the room was not secure. She was ill at ease for the remainder of our visit.
This hotel is in the heart of St. Paul. Walking distance to the Excel Energy Center and many dining options. Room was clean. I would stay here again. Temperature control panel in the room did not work. Had to open the window in February to cool down the room.
Friendliness of staff; comfort of bed!
Doubletree was wonderfully comfortable and affordable! They even helped us check in several hours early after our red eye, so we could nap. Thanks for a great trip and a much needed sleep.
Just fine Just fine
convenience, location, wonderful breakfast buffet. quality faciity
The restaurant inside the hotel was fairly good and quick. The rooms were cute and cozy. My bf loved the bed mattress. The lobby had a relaxing feel to it with the neutral tones and fireplace. Hotle has been updated with modern taste. The hotel is attatched to the skywalk system which was great. On the way back from the hockey game at the Excel Center, we walked through the skywalk. You never have to go outside in the cold, very clean in there.
The front desk staff was great especially a young woman who looks like the movie star from Juno...Ellen? Do not recall her name but she was fantastic and so helpful! No baggage help or bellman. Restaurant was only open limited hours and no room service. I would only recommend this hotel if the price is right and with certain limitations.
Cookies at check in, comfortable beds and pillows Waking up to a call from the front desk at 8:30 in the morning on a Saturday after being out late. Not many restaurants in the immediate area.
We were given an updated room. While generally nice it was a bit cramped with two queen beds. The staff were friendly overall. A bit cramped even though it was a updated room. While the staff was generally friendly, getting someone to answer a phone at the front desk and the Valet was slow and frustrating.
Very clean rooms and beds were comfortable. We had a newly renovated room, it was small but very nice with a lovely view of the river. Good location. Staff was helpful. The cost of the room was more than I'd ever paid. I was also under the impression that the parking fee was included in the price of the room, which was not the case.
I loved the modern look of the hotel. The bedding was of good quality, which is a huge plus for me! We had a beautiful view of the river from our room. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to Xcel Energy Centre, which was our destination, so I liked the proximity of the hotel to the venue. Overall I was very happy with my one night stay.
The coffee was horrible. Either in room or lounge. Otherwise nice lounge and computer access. We went out for brkfst instead. Please write at least 15 words
Minneapolis was a stopover for us, so it was convenient that this hotel was not far from the airport n/a
Free Shuttles, friendly, big rooms.
Internet access in room.
Great value for the money. Liked the shuttle to Mall of America. no
There was a minor problem with the air conditioning in our room. They were so fast in getting us a different room. Very polite! I've told everyone I know about the great experience. Not a thing
Clean, updated, location
Walls are a little thin. Heard the neighbours radio at 445,called the front desk and they told us they would check it out. An hour later we could still hear it. Called again and the front desk said they would have their shuttle driver check it out. Lost a lot of sleep that night.
I liked that there was a hot breakfast and that there was a fridge and microwave in the room. The eggs were disgusting. Hard boiled eggs would be a much easier and better solution. Surprised to see an old school tv in the room!
Very friendly staff. Comfortable beds Free breakfast Location-convenience Room amenities (mini-refridgerator) TV or in-room cable system not working very well
The. Shower temp was very variable. Hot to ice cold and back in a few seconds. We didn't get our wake up call. Otherwise we were happy with everything. The breakfast was great. Eggs, potatoes and sausage. Got a free mall of America coupon book.
There was a problem after booking on KAYAK that the hotel was not notified of our arrival before we got there and we were given a reservation number that did not work. The staff was very competent in asking for what they needed and making multiple calls with getaroom.com (the customer service agent pervaded by the reservation by KAYAK) to ensure our booking on my behalf. Even though it took 20 minutes or more to check in, I never once was pressured to take care of the situation myself and they were concerned about me being double-billed should they just give me a room and take care of it later. They handled the process with perfection in a frustrating situation for a customer. I also loved the comfort of the bed! The TV in the room used settings making the picture too big for the screen, and I couldn't figure out how to fix it, but I did not seek help from the hotel to resolve the issue.
I usually don't stay at anything less then 4 stars. I was in Minneapolis on business and the weather was bad so I decided to stay the night instead of driving back to my home state of Iowa. I have rewards at Mariott and Hilton. The Hilton Garden Inn was full. There were not many options. I had never stayed at a Microtel and thought that surely the room would be clean. The lobby was dirty and it didn't end there. The room smelled of dirty feet and the blankets had cigarette holes in the blankets. The mattress was horrible. Would have had better sleep on a air mattress. Do not bother people. Better options in Twin Cities.
The room was clean, had a flat screen TV, we could control the temperature in the room, and it had a complimentary breakfast. It was located near Sam's Club and was just an exit away from some shopping. You could hear planes flying overhead both day and night, the room size was very small, and there wasn't a place to eat the breakfast downstairs. We had to bring the food up to our room.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was a little dark and the TV didn't work
Price was great, bed was decent. Room was clean, but small which was fine for a place to sleep which is all I needed it for. Breakfast was decent nothing fancy but enough I was content. The shower head was really useless. I work with my hands with oil and the like. I got into the shower and the water really had no power and minimal amount of water came out. Temps were gold but if you can't get wet it dosent do anything good for you
i absolutely enjoyed its centralized location to so many attractions we were within 15 miles of the mall the zoo and even within reasonable distance from Mickeys Diner the room smelled like a wet ashtray even being on the first floorand clearly marked no smoking signs thankfully it didnt trigger my daughters asthma
The location was perfect for where I needed to be for some personal business. The price I paid was discounted from the regular price. I think it was an okay value for the money I paid. Smaller than expected room size but I guess that's why they call it a microtel. Could hear my neighbors cell phone ringing/buzzing as the night stand it was setting on was attached to the wall. No refrigerator in the room so do not plan on bringing food or beverages back to the room.
Staff was great, very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean an very comfortable. Quiet location. We will stay there again next year!! Parking was not bad but was not great, had to park on the opposite end of our room. Breakfast was not bad either but not that great. Didn't have many choices for gluten free guests.
The history and the look of the Hotel. The bed was not comfortable and must have been old. The room and hallways needed attention with some windex and a fresh coat of paint.
Very convenient to daughter's apt. Easy to find room. Wonderful breakfast selections. Nice quiet rooms. This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and will do so again.
The size of the room and the helpful, friendly staff. The breakfast lady was great!
The staff was very friendly. Very pleasant environment. The bed was terrible.
The staff allowed us to early register, continental breakfast an extra day and kept our luggage safe for 10 hours after check out. Amazing place. no elevator
Was fine for a one night stay. Construction going on.
Interearing, historic building with really cool design. Very unique. Comfortable beds. Free parking. Free breakfast was decent. Had all the amenities I was looking for (pool/hot tub, business center). Decent location, depending on your needs. The main problem, and for me this was a big problem, was security. Our room was located right next to an exterior door in the very back corner of the hotel, which opens up to the back parking lot. We noticed right away that the lock was broke and so anyone could enter without needing a key card. This wouldn't have been a huge problem accept the door to our room did not shut and lock without pulling it tightly closed behind us. We also noticed this right away and made sure it was locked any time we left. The room cleaners, however, did not. After a day out we returned (through the unlocked exterior door) and could see right as we walked in that our hotel room door was noticeably ajar. We went in and made sure that none of our belongings were missing and that no weirdos were hiding in the closet, and very luckily everything was fine. The worst part was that the lady at the front desk, although very nice and smiley, seemed completely oblivious to the situation they put us in. When I told her about the broken lock on the exterior door she seemed shocked, then later went on to tell me that she actually ordered a new lock earlier that day. Call me crazy but one thing I really expect out of a hotel is at least a little bit of security and safety. I can't help but wonder what they would have done if anything had been stolen from our room. At any rate, if you're staying in room 118, make sure that all the staff know they need to take extra care to make sure your door is locked, or at least closed all the way.
The breakfast was good and the lobby had an interesting decor. The hotel pool was dirty. We found clumps of hair on the bottom and deflated ballons floating around. It rained the night we were there and the floor under the windows was wet. Remote from anything else in the area.
I liked how spacious the room was, the free breakfast, and the parking was close to the entrance I didn't like that the room that I booked (King), wasn't what I received (Double Queen), The room was smoke free, but smelt like smoke as soon as you entered, and the room was so warm and had no way to control the heat other than 2 other temperatures. This was good for a one night stay, for which we used the room to get ready for a concert and sleep
No street noise. Very nice breakfast.
Good location for my needs. Very friendly staff. Clean room. Music in the courtyard area should be reduced or turned off at night.
