My room wasn't big, but I was nonetheless pleasantly surprised by it, given what I paid. The hotel has some style, though my room was a little characterless, and had no view of anything interesting out the window. The room had a simple desk, which was useful to me. I needed to do laundry, and they had a simple in-house laundromat which was cheap and easy to use. Everything was spotlessly clean. Two subway station were within about a seven-minute walk. Reception staff were friendly and polite. For one person, the room was fine. For two, though it had a double bed, it would have been a little cramped. And as I say, the room didn't have much character--pretty functional. But these are quibbles -- really, there wasn't anything to complain about. I would recommend it.
They had the most comfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel. I just sunk into it. Other than that, the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was about a 5 minute walk from the train station, less if you weren't carrying luggage, and that station was only a couple stops away from Yokohama station - great location. I wish I had known the bed was the way it was. I would have booked an extra night or two. The only complaint I have - and this isn't really a complaint - is that you could tell that it was an older room. It was clean but you could also see the occasional scuff on the wall. That sort of thing.
The staff was especially courteous, friendly, and helpful on a range of issues, including reservations, travel to and from the airport, hotel services such as maid service, laundry service, message delivery, and meal services. The Japanese, Chinese, and Western breakfasts were phenomenal. The rooms were comfortable, well maintained, and completely met the needs of tired travelers coming in from overseas, and then visiting family and friends, as well as re-visiting favorite tourist sites in the Tokyo, Kyoto, and Kamakura regions. The location was also extremely helpful being close to the metro, as well as close to where our son lives in Motomachi. The sights of Chinatown, Yokohama were just an added benefit. Getting into Tokyo or excursions to sights further afield such as Kyoto, Kamakura, and Nagano, were also easily accomplished with the metro line so close to the hotel. Overall, a perfect visit, in large part due to the attention and services provided by the staff of the Rose Hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay. This hotel was an excellent value for the money. It was located directly in front of a metro station and within walking distance to China Town. The rooms were clean though a little on the small side but it didn't matter as we were out most of the time sight seeing. The bed was slightly uncomfortable and the room was a little cramped.
Good hotel location, spacious rooms. Nice personnel at frontdesk on departure. Hotel looks nice from outside. Stains on carpet, sofa, bedroom tv not working, no lan cable to connect with internet. I've booked non-smoking room which was not honoured. Very basic, old and worn out furniture. Front desk ask me to show non-smoking room booking and did not believed it was done properly on booking.com!
