Hotel was lovely, clean and very accommodating. I found it very comfortable. I do not understand some of the mixed reviews I found on the website. I would definitely stay there again. cost for meals was high, but that seems true of all Japan hotels. Many staff did not speak English, but they always found someone who did, if necessary
+ Got a free upgrade to the "Intercontinental Suite", with amazing views of Minatomirai, the Yokohama Bay, and Bashamichi. + The staff also pro-rated my first night's stay since I checked in at 4am. + Hotel is very nice, quiet, and has fast+reliable WiFi! + Location is excellent: the Intercontinental is one of the landmark buildings in the modern Minatomirai neighborhood of Yokohama; it just across a pedestrian overpass to Minatomirai Station and Queens Mall + Landmark Tower and all of the rest of the surrounding attractions. + Easy access to Tokyo via Minatomirai Station (from where you can catch a train direct to many Tokyo neighborhoods or get anywhere with 1 transfer). (I would recommend using Hyperdia (http://www.hyperdia.com/en/) for looking up train directions.) + While I was checking out, a staff member came up to help me with my two large suitcases and spoke into his headset to have a cab waiting for me by the time we got down the escalator. + Many more instances such as this of subtle and excellent customer service are what really defined this stay for me. + Access to the airports is easy via Yokohama station where the Keikyū Airport Line will take you to Haneda in 30 min or the JR Narita Express will take you to Narita in 1.5 hrs. If you are traveling light, you can change trains at Yokohama to the Minatomirai line and take that to Minatomirai Station, which is a block from the Intercontinental. (If you have a lot of bags, as I did, you might find it easier to take a 10 min cab ride between Yokohama station and Minatomirai station.) - No power outlets accessible by the beds, hard to get at by the desk. - No ethernet (wired) internet connection. - Shower head and beds a bit short (I am 6'/1.8m and they were just fine, I would say that anyone taller might need to bend their knees, but this size is also typical of hotels in Japan).
good loctaion, easy access to sightseeing place card key doesn't work once
Minato Mirai View from room. Room temperature was kind of hot. Could not locate thermostat settings.
A/C was too low and cannot be adjusted.
The hotel is clse to a train station and also to Yokohama's shopping center so it is quite convenient. No direct access to any airport transportation without transferring to a train or the bus..Rooms are really very tight with no drawers at all..
My room wasn't big, but I was nonetheless pleasantly surprised by it, given what I paid. The hotel has some style, though my room was a little characterless, and had no view of anything interesting out the window. The room had a simple desk, which was useful to me. I needed to do laundry, and they had a simple in-house laundromat which was cheap and easy to use. Everything was spotlessly clean. Two subway station were within about a seven-minute walk. Reception staff were friendly and polite. For one person, the room was fine. For two, though it had a double bed, it would have been a little cramped. And as I say, the room didn't have much character--pretty functional. But these are quibbles -- really, there wasn't anything to complain about. I would recommend it.
Good location, large well equipped room, top of the line Japanese toilet, good price, good view. Almost nonexistent and shabby lobby, underwhelming and over priced breakfast, dated look to public spaces. Health club was an extra 1000 yen per visit to use and did not include a pool, sauna, or steam room.
Very clean fabulous, nice size rooms. Great staff and location with shopping and good outlets close to JR station and direct link bus to Hanaeda airport Also, walking distance to Ramen museum! My kids were were a little scared by central light shaft but the lifts. We were on high floor and they are shy about view down
Lovely views, polite and courteous staff Rooms are old and need to be renovated.
By far the largest room I've had in Japan. The room was a little older but there wasn't anything wrong with it. It had a great view of Yokohama harbor and the Yokohama Bay Bridge. The staff was great and accommodating and even held onto my luggage before I checked in and after I checked out. There wasn't anything wrong with this hotel. The original price for the room was to high in my opinion but it was just fine with the discount I got from the site.
The staff was especially courteous, friendly, and helpful on a range of issues, including reservations, travel to and from the airport, hotel services such as maid service, laundry service, message delivery, and meal services. The Japanese, Chinese, and Western breakfasts were phenomenal. The rooms were comfortable, well maintained, and completely met the needs of tired travelers coming in from overseas, and then visiting family and friends, as well as re-visiting favorite tourist sites in the Tokyo, Kyoto, and Kamakura regions. The location was also extremely helpful being close to the metro, as well as close to where our son lives in Motomachi. The sights of Chinatown, Yokohama were just an added benefit. Getting into Tokyo or excursions to sights further afield such as Kyoto, Kamakura, and Nagano, were also easily accomplished with the metro line so close to the hotel. Overall, a perfect visit, in large part due to the attention and services provided by the staff of the Rose Hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay. They had the most comfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel. I just sunk into it. Other than that, the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was about a 5 minute walk from the train station, less if you weren't carrying luggage, and that station was only a couple stops away from Yokohama station - great location. I wish I had known the bed was the way it was. I would have booked an extra night or two. The only complaint I have - and this isn't really a complaint - is that you could tell that it was an older room. It was clean but you could also see the occasional scuff on the wall. That sort of thing.
Good hotel location, spacious rooms. Nice personnel at frontdesk on departure. Hotel looks nice from outside. Stains on carpet, sofa, bedroom tv not working, no lan cable to connect with internet. I've booked non-smoking room which was not honoured. Very basic, old and worn out furniture. Front desk ask me to show non-smoking room booking and did not believed it was done properly on booking.com!
This hotel was an excellent value for the money. It was located directly in front of a metro station and within walking distance to China Town. The rooms were clean though a little on the small side but it didn't matter as we were out most of the time sight seeing. The bed was slightly uncomfortable and the room was a little cramped.
