I approached the lady in the front desk to see if it was time to get my seats assigned. The lady in the front desk asked me in Spanish if I new English seen I was speaking Spanish to her I really don’t get why me knowing English had to do with me getting my seats. Also I went to gat 7 cuz that’s the gate I printed out 1hr before my fly but had to run to gate 3 cuz JetBlue changed gate seen 7am but couldn’t change it on the check in printouts/information (does that even make sense). Finally the answering service is a lottery you have to pray you get someone nice(and I hate to say this cuz I’m Puerto Rican but we can be so rude in customer service). You can tell from the accent a person has where they from and every time I get a Central American person they are so nice but when you get a Puerto Rican person they can be so rude and almost always you get nothing answer or done. This particular time before my flight I call to get my seat cuz when I flew to PR and almost always I call 24hr before my flight and get my seats assign free of charge. Not this time the customer rep answered and I tell her that I’m calling to get my seats and she answers you can do that when you check in, I tell her that I try but I’m being charged to get them and that in my previous flight the girl said to call 24hr before this flight and I could get them assigned free of charge (which was true cuz I had call for my fly going to PR and the girl also said it too) and the customer rep said well it probably cuz is not 24hr before yet. I told the rep yes it is I’m currently on my way to the airport but I want to get them before I get to the airport and the rep answers well you can do it when you get there (mind you I’ve been on hold waiting for almost 2hr that’s why I’m on my way to the airport cuz I usually do it 5-6hr before my flight but the answering service has been very busy) I tell her that I’m trying to save some time and get them before I get to the airport and the rep said well I can’t help you cuz we can’t give you seat on the phone you have to do it when you check in or wait until you get to the airport and they’ll give you your seats. It’s very frustrating that there’s people like this and they are from the same birthplace as you. So sad!"

Cons: "The outbound plane from Newark to Frankfurt was late by 1.5 hr because United could not figure out how to bring the plane (that was sitting in the middle of the airfield to the gate and then they realized that they need get catering supplies to feed the passengers and we were waiting for that too. The inbound flight from Frankfurt to Newark was late by 1.45 hours since they were fixing a computer problem on board. The flight was totally over air-conditioned and when I asked to bring an extra blanket for me the flight attendant started lecturing me that I was wearing shorts and a polo shirt (in the 86F heat at FRA and EWR it was ok!) and that she had no blankets. The second flight attendant who for some reason came 2 miins after the first one apologized for the attitude of his female colleague and immediately brought me an extra blanket."

Cons: "On checking in we had to use a machine to print our boarding passes and take our bags to a bag drop in Newark. The man proceeded to put a large tray on the conveyor belt, swing our bags in the air then smash them down into the tray. This was done to both bags as if we weren't there. Had there been something expensive in there it would have been totally destroyed. He really couldn't have cared less about our bags and their contents. We were talking to a woman on the plane who was telling us that a woman a few rows behind who had a new born baby as was told she would be given a seat with extra legroom had this taken away from her to United could sell the seat to someone paying for it. The chicken and orzo dinner was absolutely revolting. The orzo was so over cooked that it just turned to mush and the chicken really didn't taste like it had ever seen a chicken. All this combined with the issues we had on our flight out show that United are scum and just see you as ££. Sorry I cant be more complementary than that, its just the truth."

They told us to go to the website to request a refund and wouldn't offer us any flight upgrades. We got on the flight and people were told not to sit in the unoccupied enconomy plus seats unless they paid for them. Pretty poor that considering there were at least 2 rows of seats available they are so tight they can't even be bothered to compensate us in a way that won't effect their bottom line. We completed the return request only to be told that refunds are not offered on schedule changes. Again pretty shoddy customer service and shows that all they are about is your money. The breakfast we had was disgusting. The melted cheese looked like someone had vomited onto my tray. On waiting for our connecting flight there was an old lady who was dumped at a gate on a wheel chair. They person then left without telling them what was happening. We could see she was anxious about not knowing what was happening. My wife went to the United help desk to ask for information for the lady's flight and was told she should just check the information board and dismissed. Not sure how an old lady who can't walk is meant to do this (this was explained to them). If United had bothered to make some kind of effort to be at least helpful in any stage with refunding / upgrading us and being helpful to an old lady maybe this review would be different. Ultimately all they care about is your money and will deliver a shockingly bad customer service wherever they can get away with it. I WONT be flying United again. I will pay more for another airline."

"This was my first flight on Spirit Airlines and I was a little leary and had low expectations. . . however, I was pleasantly surprised! The crew was very pleasant and cheerful! "This was a terrible experience as a first time spirit traveler. The flight was delayed for 5 hours and the agents did not verbally communicate with anyone regarding the delays. Last minute gate change was provided 15 minutes prior to boarding to only have us wait until 5:30 to board the flight. We sat on the plane for a total of 5 hours and ended up missing an entire day of our quick 48 hour getaway. We had to deboard twice and were lied to several times. To top it all off, the seats are curved in the most uncomfortable way so sitting in them for so long made my body achy. Never again Spirit"

Cons: "The employee was rude. We waited in line (not moving) for 1 hour and change. They cancelled every single one of their flights to Florida. Their next available flight was for Wednesday, August 7th. We asked if their were any other flights going to FLL and she said she couldn't help us with that. She said we would have to go upstairs and check for ourselves. We asked for the manager and she's said "she's on her way". A man came and told us that whatever was under Spirit Airlines was the only thing we can refund to you. My brother asked the lady "I thought you said the manager was a she". The lady goes "we have two". My brother goes "well, can we speak to her?" and the lady, in a very rude tone goes, "well do you want to hear the same thing twice?" The only reason we argued back was because that lady was extremely disgusting to us. The lady claimed we got an email sent out to us saying our flight was cancelled and it was not. We showed her our phones too. She said "how do I know that you're not lying about the email?" Anyways, we got refunded on our tickets but the reason we were going was for a game the next day (Aug 5). Those tickets are nonrefunable and Spirit Airlines is responsible for that because this was caused by them. We also rented a car for the days we were going to be there, which I also think they're responsible for. The game tickets were $65 each and it was 4 of us. The car rental was $97. All that money went down the drain because Spirit Airlines cancelled all of their flights. I emailed the car rental place and we couldn't get refunded and the guy said that it's the airlines fault for cancelling the flight and they should pay for everything. Cons: "im not one to complain but Wiskey Tango Foxtrot. I show up to the gate and they somehow canceled my reservation and gave my seat away! They put me standby on that same flight. We get to the gate and it's delayed an hour. After an hour it gets canceled because the flight attendants all called out!!! Seriously. Go to the front they put me on the next flight at 6pm (8 hours from the original flight I was booked for) That one gets delayed 2 hours and at this point the plane is over booked so I figured I'll just give up my seat and fly another day. Go to the front counter dude says the next available seat is in 12 days!!! And even if I want to change my flight the manger is on break. He turns to the guy next to him and in Spanish asked where she went and he said she went to the house. She is the only manger in the airport that has a code to change anything including giving my money back. So I book a flight with United and go back to the house. Worst experience ever. I'm in the military and fly constantly and have never had this horrible experience."
Cons: "The staff weren't professional.they did a horrible job in letting us know what we can carry on to the plane and what we couldn't. We ended up having to pay more"
Pros: "The flight crew were very upbeat and friendly and made the flight enjoyable. The staff also played trivia games with the customers that kept everyone entertained. The flight attendant also gave my small son sticker wings just for flying and was beyond sweet."
Cons: "Our flight was delayed and we originally were all seated with out seat belts waiting to depart to only be told our flight was now delayed and that we all had to exit the plane and wait 2 hours. A flight delay is understandable but boarding and then having to get off was a little frustrating. The flight for the most part was comfortable but wished they at least had a front seat pocket to help hold items during the flight but instead only had elastic bands. Also the tray table is half the size of a normal one so holding a larger lap top is not that comfortable."

Cons: "The airlines weight limit on checked bags (which already cost the same as the ticket) is 40 lbs. anything 40-50 is an additional 30, and beyond 50 lbs is another $50. We tried 'saving' money for our trip by combining two adults luggage for a week into one checked bag instead of paying $39 a piece for a carry on. We were at 41 lbs leaving so in addition to the $41 for the checked luggage we had to pay the additional $30. On the way back, because we had purchased items on vacation and were only allowed two small personal items, we were over the 50 lb mark by 2 lbs and had to pay 55 to get our things on the flight. Don't waste your time with this airline if you want to take anything with you on your vacation."
Cons: "I know there a lot of things that can not be fixed by an airplane such as delays or weather issues but when a flight attendant openly states that they turned up the air for one person at the front of the plane but the rest of the plane is uncomfortable freezing this is something that could be adjusted. Very uncomfortable flight that was compounded by sitting on the runway for over an hour an a half after landing due to a gate not being available. Every time I fly spirit I say never again but this time I will pay more for comfort!!"
Cons: "Second flight I booked with them, both were delayed. The second one was supposed to leave at 10 AM I received an email at around 8AM that the flight was delayed until 2 PM. They said I had to still be there an hour before the original scheduled flight time? I asked when I was actually able to get someone on the phone, why do I need to sit in the airport for 5 Hours? After being very persistent I was told that sometimes Spirit doesn't have gates available, so they want you to sit there and if they happen to get a gate before 2PM they will board and leave. This may work for some but not me. I won't be flying Spirit again."
Cons: "First of all I have never been charged for my carry-on by any other airline, so that was my first big complaint. Not to mention that a charge of $59 for a carry-on is outrageous, especially when they for some reason charge less to check the bag! Second they are the worst on updating you on any changes to your flight whether it was the time or gate location. My flight on the way to Florida was delayed for four hours, and on my return flight they did not help me check in which caused me to miss my initial return flight and almost had the nerve to charge me a fee to book the flight for the next day. The managerial staff is rude and unhelpful, and if it wasn't for the help one good hearted staff member at the counter I'd still be stuck in Florida. Oh and again they changed my gate on the way to FL and on the way back MULTIPLE times! As a matter of fact, I was not told about my gate change for my return flight until the aircraft was about half way boarded! As far as the aircraft itself, the seats are uncomfortable and they even charge you for water. This was the worst flying experience of my life and will never fly this airline again! I hope Spirit goes bankrupt!"
Pros: "The customer service was incredible. I knew what I was getting in to regarding no entertainment, smallish seats, etc. but I did not find the seats uncomfortable and brought my own entertainment. I will travel with Spirit again."

Cons: "Attendants didn't seem happy to be there. Even when saying thank you for your flight, no smiles. Food was blah. Why pay $4 for junk food. Drinks were OK though. The landing wasn't right. It was uncomfortable. I do have to fly back with spirit, but I won't fly spirit again. I'll stick with united and delta."
Pros: "no issues. carry on was fine, picked my seats no issues with that. flight attendants were very friendly & professional. smooth flight, on time. Aircraft was super clean. there was food and drinks available for purchase. Seats are a bit less "chunky" than other airlines but they were fine."
Cons: "I was a bit late getting to Newark, but I only had a carry-on, so needed to grab my boarding pass and just get through security. When I finally found the Spirit Airlines counter in the basement, their electronic kiosk wouldn't work. There was a huge line, so the Spirit employees ignored me. I could not get my boarding pass, even though I would have had time to get through security and run to my gate!!! I had to buy a separate flight on United so I could make it to this wedding. Any refund would be appreciated! Spirit Airlines is horrible!!!"

Cons: "Inaccurate information from email alerts stating flight was delayed when it was cancelled. Paying to have an assigned seat is ridiculous! If I buy more than 1 ticket at a time please figure out how to program the seat assigments so everyone sits together. I understand charging a fee for first class, business, class, exit row, ETC. but come on the seats didn't even recline. The personnel were all polite but that doesn't help when the information from them is wrong. I don't care how big a smile you give me or how many times you say I'm sorry."

Cons: "The airline emailed customers that the flight was delayed by almost two hours. We arrived 1 hour 45 min before the new departure. The website still said the delayed time. When we were trying to check in the service desk told us the plane was being boarded and the delay was no longer needed. We had to take later flight and the girl joked that "at least we weren't as bad as united airlines because they dragged someone off." Terrible experience. There is definitely a reason it's a budget airline. Will never fly with them as long as I live."

Cons: "The seat was extremely uncomfortable. The seat itself was so small it did not accommodate the length of my legs to the knee. I felt like I was going to slide out of my seat. There was no leg room. I am only 5 feet, 2 inches tall and I felt cramped and uncomfortable. I was in the middle seat and could not sit comfortably without touching the stranger who sat next to me. I don't expect first class leg room but I have never been as uncomfortable on any other airline. Lastly, my luggage did not make it on to my flight so I left the airport without it. My bad was delivered to my house, but it took 32 hours to arrive, arriving at my house at 9:30 PM on the following day."
Cons: "It was a terrible experience!!! Stinky way to end a vacation!! From the moment we entered the terminal, SPIRIT handled everything poorly. They had 5 agents working to handle 5-6hundred passengers. There was only one agent walking the floor answering questions. He was nice enough to me but in his frustration, he was very rude to other passengers. People were getting nervous that their planes were boarding and they still hadn't checked their bags. This caused people to try and cut in front of other people in line and of course those passengers became angry. After finally getting through that mess, we got to our gate in a different terminal (which was also confusing because our boarding pass said terminal 3 which we went to first only to find out that we needed to go to Terminal 4 to check in and then walk over to terminal 3 to board). Once we boarded the plane they told us that the computer system was down so they could not put in their flight planes so they let us off the plane. We re-boarded the plane and finally landed home around 2:00 in the morning. By the time we got our luggage and drove home (20 minutes) it was 3:15. Overall Stinky!!!!!"
Cons: "Out flight was cancelled due to poor weather in Newark. Spirit wasn't at fault for the bad weather, but they left us high and dry in the aftermath. They gave us no help or information how to rebook, and chaos broke out as a couple hundred confused passengers scrambled to find temporary accommodations. My family ended up staying overnight in the Orlando Hyatt airport hotel, and booking a flight the next day at expensive last-minute rates. We ended up paying $340 for the hotel, and $2500 for the flights, for a total additional expense of $2840.Because Spirit refunded us $1200 for the cancelled flights, we ended up losing "only" $1640 to get home, with no help from Spirit to mitigate our loss or even to advise us what to do. This is not how an airline, even a low-cost airline, should treat its passengers. I heard many passengers, in the scrum of confusion after the cancellation, vowing that they'd never fly Spirit again, and it's hard to argue with them."
Pros: "The flight crew was nice. Not their fault they have to push to sell everything on the flight. Very uncomfortable. They were pushing from credit cards to expensive food and drinks ($3 sodas). I bough ticket thru another site and nowhere it asked to pay $50 for carry on? I paid when I got to the airport. The sears very tight and uncomfortable. Seats to recline back and if your sleepy forget it, you will never get comfortable unless you pay to get a window seat. The price you pay will be the same as competitor flights at the end after you pay -To check in your carry-on ($55) or luggage ($50). -Pay to choose your seats or they will chose random for free. -pay to buy snacks or soft drinks -they push you credit cards (really) Not with it."

Pros: "2 flight delays and then a cancellation. Wasted our Saturday at the airport. Then they can't rebook us until Tuesday-they did not demonstrate care. Here is your $ back for this leg of the flight-could not rid of us fast enough. Now we had to book last minute with another airline, paid crazy price for the one way trip and from the West Palm Beach airport around 40 miles away-had to get there on our own. Charge you for everything crazy $. The discounted advance price for a carry on bag is $45 each way. Assigned seats-we charge you for that too. The smallest seats, -0- recline matches their-0- cushioned seats, no drinks or snacks, no movie, not even music, not even water. No wonder there was a tiny tray. Going out of Newark was fine. Even arrived early and the employees were good. That was all. Spirit airlines-Never again!"

Cons: "Shortcut security was not honored flying to fll. Was unaware of the so calley "bare fare". I paid almost $300 for my flight just to find out the night before that I had to pay an additional $142 for my seats and bags. Water wasn't even free! Flight was late departing but arrived On time. On the way home I got to the airport 2.5hrs early even though I checked in the night before just to be put in a long line because spirit appeared under staffed. The Spirit agent took our long coiled line and put us outside in a straight line...in the cold and rain! While in line, a Spirit passenger was visibly and audibly crying. A few other passengers including myself tried to help her. We informed a near by agent who also saw the crying woman and told us "it's not my job. She's not my concern." The lack of care and customer service was ridiculous. Not only will I never fly spirit again but I will encourage friends and family to boycott them as well."
Cons: "Getting our boarding pass to print was a nightmare. I kept getting password invalid. I was told I would be sent an e-mail to reset my password. NOT! made that request 6 times before I waited 30 minutes to get a rep on the phone. Was told I had to sign up to be a Free Spirit Member to get my boarding pass. No where does it say that that is what you had to do . The rep asked if I had booked through them? I told I booked through Kayak and he gave me attitude. Kind of huffed and I thought he mumbled "you get what you pay for" So I signed up and got our boarding pass. Coming back AGAIN we couldn't get our boarding pass. The rep at Cabana Bay got a Spirit rep on the phone I told her I was a Free Spirit Member and I gave her my member # and she me told I didn't exist in the system, but she would send me an e-mail to change my password Of course that didn't come through. I put Sara, from the front desk, back on the phone and between her and the rep we got our boarding pass. We started our vacation upset and aggregated. Ended it the same way."
Pros: "There was nothing about this experience that was handled well or in any way comfortable."
Cons: "First of all, the flight was delayed by more than 4 hours. Had I been notified of this, I wouldn't have had to get up at 3:30 AM to get to the airport in time. I signed up for the email notifications and am a Free Spirit member- none came. Second of all, the airport was in complete chaos. In fairness, there had been a shooting in terminal 2 the day before, but there was no organization, no one to ask about which line to stand in, etc.. A couple of employees with megaphones would have gone a long way. Third of all, the gate agent boarding the plane was the definition of rudeness and snarkiness. Fourth of all, while boarding the plane, and elderly man became unresponsive and had to be wheeled off the plane. Again, total chaos, no announcements. The man fell out of the wheelchair and expired on the jet bridge- ok, beyond Spirit's control, but the way the gate agent and flight attendants handled this was disgraceful. Fifth of all, we all had to disembark, then line up to board again, then they cancelled out flight. 6th- we were instructed to exit the terminal and rebook at the front desk. People ran like the starting gun had shot at the olympics. When I exited the terminal, we were met with a wall of people- total chaos- no one directing traffic- agents yelling at us- we were finally directed to line up outside in the hot sun (wearing black winter clothes) and proceeded to wait for over 4 hours. I didn't even get close to the desk- I booked a return flight on American for $430 out of Miami because people who were able to reach Spirit via phone (I was on hold for over 2 hours before my phone died) were saying they couldn't get us back to NYC until next week. I have tried unsuccessfully to reach Spirit to refund the money for my carry on bag."
Cons: "I had taken a flight from newark to fort lauderdale and because there was a delay from newark I was late arriving into fort lauderdale. I had asked the staff at the gate in newark what I should do and they reassured me I would make it. I then approached the flight crew and told them my situation and they also reassured me it would be fine but I landed in fort lauderdale and my connecting flight took off. I then had to go from terminal two to terminal three to get a new ticket which Spirit did not pay for or even have. I also had to stay in a hotel that night that was $150 with not even a % off was offered. I understand that weather is not in your control but then the people at the gate and the flight crew should not have given me false hope without even contacting anyone else. I was on the way to see my fiance who is in the U.S. Navy, who had been deployed and I missed his coming home. The only good thing I have to say about Spirit is that your crew in Fort Lauderdale working the tickets were very nice and calm even with the line out the front of the terminal and around the side of the building. This is a problem I ran into every flight of Spirit I have flown, complete under staffing of the ticket lines. I will never fly Spirit again and I will never allow my family to either."

Cons: "Everything else. Spirit accidentally cancelled my return flight. How is this possible? I had to shell out $1000 to hold a backup flight out of fear that they couldn't fix the error. Then they tried to double-charge me for luggage that I had paid for with the initial booking. Once they reinstated the luggage fee they stuck me in the back of the plane with no windows in an aisle seat when I paid for premium seating. Spirit is the worst airline on the planet. I would fly in a crop duster first."

The money you save on the ticket ended up going to pay towards luggage so it would have been better going through a nicer airline. Planes really had nothing to offer as far as comfort. On the way home the plane had a 2 hour delay and no real customer service was given to a accommodate for the inconvincoence. Also had an issue with the luggage keeping us in the airport way longer than needed. Would not fly with spirit again"
