Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Cons: "Communication. I cannot speak with anyone at flyus about a refund. Qatar airways denied boarding to ALL passengers heading to Saudi Arabia, I was left stranded in Dallas, and could not contact ANYONE."
Pros: "On-time, crew was nice."
Cons: "Seats are too tight. Board from the outsides in, not front to back. Windows seats in the back go first (after first class, ADA, etc), and fill the cheap seats back to front. As it is, literally everyone with an aisle seat ends up on first and overheads fill before people have a chance to know, requiring a lot of against-the-flow foot traffic and delays pushing away from gate."
Cons: "Everything AA did nothing right."
Pros: "Missed our connection flight. Time to close terminal to far away. Ran to gate closed as we got there."
Cons: "Spending night in Chicago O'hare airport where we rerouted."
Pros: "Everything was awesome. No wait, fast boarding, nice crew!"
Cons: "Absolutely nothing. TSA in Tulsa can always speed up or open more lanes!"
Pros: "On time flight, efficient, friendly crew. Clean plane."
Cons: "I was told that 30 minutes is plenty of time to make a connection at DCA. However in order to make a connection there you need to take a bus across the tarmac. The bus sat on the tarmac loading up with way too many people for 10+ min… Almost missed our connection"
Pros: "CREW WAS GREAT AT BOARDING GATE AND IN FLIGHT."
Cons: "LEFT 30 MIN LATE, DUE TO CONNECTING FLIGHT."
Pros: "Crew did a great job!"
Cons: "Not much everything was smooth."
Cons: "There was a maintenance issue on departing plane which delayed us a few minutes and when we arrived to layover airport (note we still arrived before the connecting flight was scheduled to leave), the connecting flight had decided to leave early and was gone. Now stranded with standby and all the flights for the next few days are sold out. Beyond angry!"
Pros: "Not much probably just that they came by twice with the drink cart."
Cons: "Very limited room in seats compared to other airlines. First class passengers enjoyed full meals while everyone in coach got a cookie. One tv for every few rows felt like I was flying in 2000 still. This is why American is behind JetBlue and Delta. I will pay more nd y time just not to fly American."
Cons: "Rude and disrespectful"
Pros: "departure and arrival time"
Cons: "the passenger next to me smelled horrible"
Pros: "Made it to destination"
Cons: "Gate changed without any notification"
Cons: "Boarding could be improved if they would start boarding from the back of the plane to the front after boarding 1st class and Priority this way people would not block the passage when putting their luggage in the top compartments. The crew was not very helpful because I almost went into a hypothermia condition because the air in the cabin was extremely cold. When I ask for a blanket one of the stewardesses said that AA would no longer have blankets in flight which I prove it wrong when I saw in the flight Mai-SDQ blanquets all over the cabin. The soliton they gave me was that they would ask the crew to raise the temp in the cabin, I had to make the request three times and I had to tell the stewardess that if not raising the temperature in the cabin I could have gone into an emergency hypothermia crisis. I had to take another shirt from my carry-on to put it over my shirt to warm me up."
Cons: "This was an updated 737 with pleather seats and a sleek look inside. But what matters most is leg room for me. There was none. I flew for 5 hours in totally cramped conditions. I loved the page in the mag about seat exercises to keep your leg circulation up. Couldn't bend my knees even. Disgusting"
Pros: "Smooth flight, takeoff, and landing. Efficient boarding and unloading plane. Excellent timing of departure and arrival. Crew was efficient."
Cons: "No leg room. No food. No entertainment. Long taxi time to gate after landing at DFW. Crew all business not that friendly."
Pros: "We were20 min early"
Cons: "The seats are stiff"
Pros: "The flight wasn't full and so there was more space to spread out than is normal on long-haul flights."
Cons: "For the second time on a Madrid/JFK flight in two weeks, overhead lights were broken for some seats, which is absurd for a 7.5 hour flight. Luckily, my flight attendant was kind enough to allow me to change seats to one in which the overhead light was actually working. Unfortunately, the plane was so busted that even though my overhead light was working, the headphone jacks in both of the seats that I had access to went off in the midst of food service, and as far as I could tell was never reset. Finally, and most appallingly, one of the flight attendants was completely out of control, and during the boarding process repeatedly and loudly scolded passengers. During service, she rammed the food cart into multiple seats so hard that food flew out of it onto the floor. Rather than apologizing to the customers whose seats she had rammed, she laughed loudly"
Cons: "Nobody gave us an explanation on why it was late"
Pros: "Automatic ticket rebooking"
Cons: "It being cancelled."
Pros: "Should have booked AA instead of BA."
Cons: "AA couldn't find BA reservation. poor integration of services"
Pros: "The very long TSA line was very fast. Good job TSA. Flight attendants were very attentive."
Cons: "Found the first class seat capsule uncomfortable after about three n hours. Certainly would not want it for Transocean flights."
Pros: "Pilot made up time so we made it in early!"
Cons: "Nothing was good! Horrible horrible airline!"
Pros: "flight time was very good, arrived early"
Cons: "Food options were even more deplorable than the last flight. Ate very little. Might go with ANA next time."
Cons: "The in flight crew did not even attend the passenger properly or even did not satisfy the passengers with food what they supposed to deserve. I ultimately rate it poor airways and wish not to travel with BA."
Pros: "Friendly Crew."
Cons: "The food that was served."
Pros: "We enjoyed the room on the seats and the power outlets were very comfortable. Air Crew was extremely attentive!"
Cons: "Too much space in between meals provided and small portions."
Pros: "Great crew and on time"
Cons: "Arrival G14; Departure H18 with only 35 minute layover, a really loooong walk at speed. Need tunnel from G to H or moving walkways or a "train.""
Pros: "The flight was on time The flight attendants were were very helpful and friendly. Food service was good. I am a vegan and they were very accommodating. The fact that we had 2free checked bags was great"
Cons: "Nothing. Everything was good"
Pros: "Boarding and flight were on time."
Pros: "The crew was terriffic"
Cons: "seats are tiny, but that's what I paid for."
Pros: "Crew was exceptionally lovely through delay except for lead attendant who spoke down to attendants and passengers alike (would refer to me in third person in front of me--asking attendant condescendingly "why is he here?"). terrible sense of service, spoke like I was a grade school kid in her class. Gate agent gave me last minute seat change which was very cool of her"
Cons: "Plane is terribly old, has ashtrays and audio channels for entertainment. More importantly, mechanical failures at and after gate. Total delay of over 2 hours. My girlfriend flew this same plane and had even longer delays plus needed to divert In flight and turn around and land in heathrow on a mxp-jfk route (they were over the Atlantic). Problems continue for me 2 months later on this route and as a pattern it's incredibly unsettling. I'm questioning whether taking the return flight on a plane that's clearly begging to be retired"
Pros: "The flight crew was professional, friendly and competent. They served the dinner as early in the flight as possible."
Cons: "This was a plane with central screens along the aisle, and the airline chose to broadcast a sci-fi action movie with almost constant flashing blue light, and violent action scenes. This was first of all a movie that many people, including me, would never choose to watch, but since it was on the aisle screens there was no getting away from it. It was also unsuitable for children, even without sound. But mainly, I object to the showing of any film in that situation - only aisle screens available, and on a night flight where most of the passengers are trying to sleep. I was awakened several times by the flashing lights. Other things: one of the bathrooms was not very clean, and the plane felt like the usual cattlecar, with just 3 seats on each side of the aisle, which is unusual and unpleasant for a transatlantic flight."
Cons: "Four and a half hours on board and just a cookie? Really!?"
Pros: "What I absolutely adored is that I left my phone in Philly, and the gate agents put it on the next flight up to Boston. I picked it up from American Luggage Services in Boston the next day. Priceless!"
Cons: "Terrible airline. Will not fly them again."
Cons: "Flight delayed"
Cons: "3.5 hours late out of Columbus, minimal if any communication by gate agents, 45 minutes wait for gate in PHL, 15 minutes at gate to get jet bridge to plane."
Pros: "Crew was friendly and professional"
Cons: "The flight was cancelled. I didn't receive a refund or free hotel accommodations. I've been on flights in Africa where free hotel accommodations were standard for a layover over 3 hours. A little embarrassing that an airline in America can't afford a hotel for people stranded in a city overnight."
Pros: "nice flight - nonstop got us exactly where we want"
Cons: "not a big selection on food... just cookies (although good it would be nice to have some selection)"
Pros: "The seats weren't bad and there was enough space for my carry on and personal bag"
Cons: "It was so hot the entire flight and the overhead air was very low pressure that it didn't even feel it touch my head. The person next to me had very bad odor and was hoping the air would clear it for me but it didn't because the overhead air was so low."
Cons: "LONG LINES at passport check, LONGER LINES after we picked up the luggage. There were only two people working after the luggage pickup for hundreds of passengers. People were fighting and yelling and it was an awful experience. We then had to go through SECURITY AGAIN to get to our transfer plane. Our plane was late, otherwise it would have been very tight schedule."
Pros: "It wasn't a full flight so I had more legroom, since I didn't have a person sit beside me on both flights. The flights arrive on time. Boarding was organized, quick and effective."
Cons: "Flight attendant provided a snack to everyone and forgot to offer a snack to me. There were children on both flights, kicking my seat through 60% of the flight. There was not entertainment provided for brief flights and the snack selection was mediocre."
Cons: "The layover was supposed to be an hour...ended up taking 3.5 hours!"
Pros: "Upgraded inflight entertainment had more free movies tv and games. Seats had limited recline range and were thinner and harder. Food choices were good and aisle service was typical of today's coach. Enough room for overhead even in boarding group 2. USB adapters in each seat"
Cons: "Flight was delayed one hour ten minutes due to a late plane arrival."
Cons: "I have dietary restrictions and called Qantas and ordered a special meal. Little did I know I was supposed to call American Airlines so I never got a meal I could eat. Apparently Qantas doesn't relay the meal requests to American. Awful service!!"
Pros: "One of the flight attendants attitude. She was very nice, polite and smiling all the time. I don't see that very often in economy cabin."
Cons: "Better snacks and entertainment. There is no food and no screens on this flight."
Cons: "Delay that caused us missing the connecting flight."
Pros: "Great crews"
Cons: "Not sure"
Cons: "The food was the worst. The setup was old. The staff was indifferent"
Pros: "On time. Flight attendant was exceptional."
Pros: "Everything went like clockwork"
Pros: "Boarding was fast and easy"
Cons: "Cramped seats"
Cons: "Lufthansa canceled the flights and blamed united airlines. The united airlines would not help and finally ended up having to stay in Frankfurt and now have to leave for Lisbon tomorrow and then onwards."
Cons: "I booked my flight months in advance and paid for the leg room in the emergency row. I get a smaller plane and cramp seating. Wasn't sure why this happened and why I wasn't compensated for what I was charged for. Wondering if I need to change my regular air carrier now. I don't like small planes!"
Cons: "There was no entertainment available on this flight. It's a short flight so I don't expect any, however, I continued on to Phoenix that day from Chicago and that is a long flight. I expected free entertainment on that flight, as it was afforded on the flight on the Phoenix to Chicago leg of my flights earlier in the week. The Chicago to Phoenix had entertainment offered but it there was a fee, which I didn't appreciate and did not take part in. I looked around me as much as possible and didn't see anyone else pay for entertainment. Having in flight movies and TV available for feee is a great incentive for flying with United. If these long flights in the future are pay for view, I will not be flying with you when there are alternative carriers who do provide free entertainment. Thank you."
Pros: "At least I could watch movies."
Cons: "After a long journey in Japan, flying United back to the U.S. was a rude awakening. Their crew has no regard for the manners or respect in Japanese society. I was sitting in an exit row aisle behind a restroom in economy. The staff kept bumping into me and my entertainment system as they tried to rush up and down the aisles. Really taking a breath and walking more slowly could have resolved this. At one point, the staff almost caught my arm between my seat and their rolly cart. The plane was old and in disrepair. My neighbor's entertainment system screen needed to be propped up with duct tape. The seats are stiff and uncomfortable, and the headrests are designed so that if you have a U head support, it will collide with the headrest and curve your back into a C. Some staff could use a refresher on basic Japanese. One flight attendant kept asking everyone "US Citizen or 日本語？" which means Japanese Language. Those are not mutually exclusive questions for many bilingual flyers. I usually tolerate airplane food, but this was the first meal I could not eat on a plane. It was eggs and hash browns, and it was so mushy and salty, I decided to pass. The bathrooms dirty quickly, and are a disappointment compared to the amenities provided on your basic Asian carrier. No toothbrush. No hand lotion. Just soap. We left Narita after 5 pm, and were served this weird dinner breakfast meal. Six hours later (of a 12 hour flight) it was about 11 pm in Tokyo, and 7 am in the destination city of Houston. Might as well get back to American schedules? I don't know, but when I was naturally getting tired and putting on my sleepmask and earplugs to get some rest, a rude flight attendant kept asking me if I wanted breakfast or orange juice, shoving items in front of me (with one hand, a no-no in Japanese culture), and repeatedly asking me despite me shaking my head no. I really don't know where they hired these people. My bag got held up by customs in Houston, and United transfered it to a third party courier service who tried to call me at 1 am to deliver it. That was a bit later than I expected, and I missed the call. The next day, I tried to call the driver, who hung up on me! I called their customer support, who was unable to contact the driver or the delivery service. Just who did they hand my bags to? Thankfully, after an 18 hour wait, I got my bags back, but it was a stressful wait. Throw a dart at a list of Asian airlines, they're all better than United."
Pros: "United got me on flight 3 hours early AWSOME"

Pros: "Crew was very friendly."
Cons: "No leg room."
Cons: "To make meetings, got routed to Omaha, rented car and driving to SIoux Falls. United' best flights arrived next day about 2:30pm which misses business mtgs and most of day. Had to go to customer service supervisor to get hotel room covered in Omaha. No help on rental car. No help with hotel charges already made in Sioux Falls"

Pros: "Was supposed to be a larger plane.. uncomfortable seats. Too close to each other."
Pros: "The ONLY thing i liked about this flight is one flight attended that was trying really hard to find me something to eat."
Cons: "I booked a Lufthansa flight with a window seat. For some reason when i got to frankfurt i was told i was moved to a united flight. There is a reason i NEVER fly united. One, they moved me from a window seat to a middle seat, i changed the dates of my flight to make sure i was not going to seat in the middle for 9.5 hours. They also moved me to the very back row of the plane. The gate was a mess as one flight attendant was tyring to do an additional "security check" which included asking where are my suitcases that were already checked in as i am at the gate. This security check made a mess, flight attendant were pulling people n and out of line. Messy. When we got on the plane, maintenance=ce staff was still working on it. This made boarding slow, and we ad to wait for them to finish drilling before we could leave. I sit down in my little middle sardine box (another reason i dont fly united - leg room) to find out that by the time they got to the very back row they ran out of food. So a very nice lady was trying to find me something to eat which was very nice but shouldn't have happened. In general dirty bathrooms, crabby staff, shitty plane and a pilot that cannot handle bad weather. Bags took almost 40 minutes to get out when we got to American custom. NEVER FLY UNITED"
Cons: "Flight was delayed for water leak. Two hour delay"
Cons: "Flight was 2 hours late. There are no tvs on this flight. I had to pay to check on one bag"
Pros: "Crew were fine."

Pros: "Boarding went smoothly as did the disembarking. Plane landed earlier than scheduled"
Cons: "Not enough leg room in economy"
Pros: "I was scared until the young man who sat beside me helped me out. He was a military man . ."
Cons: "The bumpy ride! The take off and the landing ..."
Pros: "Left on time arrived on time. Arrived on time."
Cons: "Bumpy flight, pilot did not communicate any re assurance. Bags took a long time to arrive."
Pros: "Contact me for more info"
Cons: "The plane temperature was ice cold and I was miserable the entire flight home"
Pros: "I liked the staff and comfort the most"
Cons: "I mean is not anybodys fault but its lame that now everything has to be paid, from entertainment to food and all of that!"
Pros: "The struf waffles"
Cons: "Every thing went well"
Pros: "They got a wheelchair within 5 minutes."
Cons: "Delayed as usual with united airlines.Seems that every time I fly with United their is some kind of problem flying out of Denver.Every Time."
Cons: "Terrible flight. I payed for an upgraded seat, list my flight due to a crew on previous flight being late then was put on standby on this plane in a tiny seat next to someone else. We sat on the runway for 45 min. There was an open seat in row 1 that I could have been seated in, but no one offered"
