KAYAK’s top tips for finding a cheap flight from Anchorage to London

  • If you're all about making it quickly to London Business Center, London City Airport (LCY) might be your best destination. Located in the heart of the city, LCY gives you a “Welcome to London” vibe. Heathrow Airport (LHR) is the UK's busiest airfield, with all the bells and whistles of an airport. Gatwick Airport (LGW) could be your choice for a scenic journey and some breathing room. It sees smaller crowds and is a bit further out (27 miles from London city center).
  • Ensure your baggage meets Icelandair restrictions (one checked bag up to 50 lbs. for Economy Standard and Flex). Purchase your extra baggage allowance when booking a flight to avoid higher charges at the airport. Buying extras in advance (seven days before your flight) saves you 20% of the airport prices. But you must pay for heavy luggage at the ticket counter (50–70 lbs.).
  • Traveling to the UK does not have to be a guessing game. Delta FlyReady, a digital flight-planning tool, helps you verify your travel documents. Use it to check whether your visa and passport meet specific requirements for flying into London. You must get a UK entry clearance before your flight when traveling for religious purposes, studies, marriage, and work. Apply for a business or tourist visa upon arrival at LHR.
  • Expect an enhanced flight experience when you fly Virgin Atlantic Premium Class. Non-bulkhead seats on A350 provide 38 inches of legroom, 18.5-inch width, and 7-inch recline. They are configured in the 2-4-2 layout. But the older planes (A330) have slightly wider seats (21 inches) and feature a 2-3-2 configuration.
  • Book your pet's transportation on Condor as early as possible since the airline has a limited capacity for live animals. Your pet's kennel must be lockable, waterproof, and ventilated per the IATA Live Animal Regulations. The maximum dimension for pet carriers is 21.7” X 15.7” X 7.9”, and your pet should not weigh more than 17.6 lbs.

Our bag was lost so that made unnecessary chaos On our trip

Delta is my preferred airline. I've traveled with them for years. On time in most cases, good communication, easy to use app. Most planes are pretty nice. I was on a CRJ 700/900 however, which was pretty badly aged inside and needed a refresh. No infotainment, unreliable wifi, best to download before boarding or bring a book. Food choices are really just snacks on this flight, nice variety but about what you'd expect. Great staff and prompt in departure and early arrival too. Overall quite satisfied.

Crew was friendly Love the entertainment in the seat head rest.

Delta flight was on time, seats were comfortable, and crew was nice.

This had nothing to do with Delta… The flights were on time and flawless. The service was excellent. We purchased seats in (aisle/middle) comfort plus since this was a cross country flight. Unfortunately, the woman seated at the window was 300+ pounds and, as might be expected, covered up about a third of the middle seat also. there was absolutely nothing that Delta could have done about that… I just don’t know what the answer should be. If you purchase a seat, you should should be able to use the entire seat and not just the portion that someone else is not sitting/oozing in. Disappointing…there should be something that could be done….I'm just not sure what solution could be.

Delayed take-off. Very small plane so very scary with lots of bumps during the flight. Would never fly Delta on short flights in small 80 seaters plane again! Felt relieved when landed.

The worst part was I was NOT allowed in the lounge even though I was holding a first class ticket and have a premium American Express card. I have flown Business or First Class with many airlines. Delta is the ONLY one who does not extend this courtesy to anyone except people who hold the very expensive American Express card. As a result, I won’t fly Delta if I have any other choice.

It was an overnight flight and I desperately needed coffee before we landed, but Delta does only one beverage service, and that is shortly after takeoff, not before landing at 5 am.

A little bumpy ride . No food was being provided due the the turbulence. That was ok it was a short flight to my standards.

Everything is good except the dinner and breakfast. The sandwich is very delicious. Toilet is clean, I only use one of them. Flight attendants are very nice. 👍👍

A bit rush for transit. Food and entertainment are not available

Boarding was a little difficult. The gate area at O'Hare was very small and crowded due to multiple gates in the area. Could not hear the intercom, so had to rely on signage to see when my group was boarding and the signage was blocked by passengers standing in the gate. Flight was great and we arrived in Montreal on time.

Multiple delays and not straight answer from the United team

For economy, it was very good. Staff was great, they even let some of us change seats for more leg room... Put an empty seat between us which was fantastic for a 12hr flight. Onboard entertainment was excellent, I think over 200 choices of movies/tv/etc The bad was the barely/nonfunctional wifi that cost either $16.99 or 1700 miles (full flight). It was atrocious... Definitely the worst of the last 3 long haul major airlines I was on the last few months.

Stewardess spilled orange juice on my clothes/seat no help no apology just threw napkins at me to clean the mess up. Not Happy.

Smooth flight. Boarding was chaotic. Could not hear the gate agent over the intercom. People were lined up in the wrong lines. Groups one and two were told to board through line one and group 3 through line 2. All very confusing. Once in the air, the flight was smooth. There was no entertainment option on this aircraft, even though it was a larger aircraft.

The plane pushed back from the gate on time. However, it stopped on the ramp, and we waited for over 20 minutes before the aircraft pulled back to the gate. Apparently, something of importance had to be removed from the aircraft by the gate agent. I found this to be odd. The delay was not significant, but I felt that whatever was on the aircraft that had to be taken off, should’ve been done before we pushed back from the gate.

I didn’t get on plane. Passport being processed by consulate with visa application. Tried to cancel through underpricer after purchasing cacelling for any reason. No dice, they are thieves.

Electric plugs didn't work. Entertainment system wasn't working

Good. Lacking overhead bin space. No food offered but you can order online or in flight and pay for snacks.

No food was served for 7.5 hrs flight. When our flight changed to other airlines due to wether issue, our seats booked with no checked in luggage when I already payed for. We end up to pay 90 euro per suitcase.

The flights were in time and the bags arrived. well done

Booked with Kayak… Economy Class it said. I had filtered for 1 checked bag. Get to boarding and it says I have Economy Light w/ no checked bags. $136 each way for baggage now. Do not use smartfares.com. Very misleading and a terrible start to this trip.

Overall good. I was surprised how easy it was to get from plain to plain in such a short time. Food choices were not so great and quite expensive. Entertainment was ok. Flights were smooth.

Our three ski bags did not arrive and are still not delivered, one full day later. With one ski bag not traceable at all. I would not fly Iceland Air again.

Horrible. The flight was delayed by over 3 hours but updates were barely provided. Boarding started 3 hours late then stopped because their system crashed. So now, passengers were standing for 15 minutes in the open waiting to get boarding passes scanned and get on a bus. Duty-free closed around 4-4:30. Only 1 food outlet was open and it was super slow and busy since it was serving passengers from multiple flights. So a number of passengers couldn't buy meals at the terminal. Since the flight was delayed by over 3 hours, we could have been offered snacks on-board. Nothing. The seats barely reclined. In-flight entertainment options were pitiful. Overall, a miserable experience. Never flying on Icelandair ever again. :(

Bad. Flights were late, by hours. No clear information was provided even until the delayed boarding time.

Had a screaming child next to us. Not the airline’s fault but still annoying.

Highly disorganized company, poor customer service. Packed seats on a 737 for a trans-atlantic 9 hour flight. Greedy company policies, no meal or snack provided for 9 hour flight.

The flight from Seattle was delayed, which made me miss my connection to Florence. I was re-booked NINE HOURS LATER!!! That’s basically a vacation day lost. British Airways needs to partner with other airlines when possible to get a more realistic travel time, if delays occur. I realize there aren’t many flights to Florence from London, so I would book differently were I to return. The actual flight from Seattle was very comfortable and the crew was great, no faults there. I enjoy British Airways, this was an anomaly.

The crew could not have been more helpful, my meal was excellent, I slept peacefully until right before landing, and the BA lounge was a godsend. The only negative I encountered was the coffee both on the plane and in the lounge. Not to my taste but that’s a personal preference.

I don’t understand why a reputable airline like BA would delegate their London flights to AA. Makes no sense to me, as most domestic carriers do such a poor job these days. Terminal 3 at LHR is a total dump

Cancelled flight minutes before boarding. Rescheduled flight was two days later

The flight attendants were EXTREMELY personable and appreciated the service, lights going off after dinner (probably the norm, but I haven’t flown evening overnight flights in a while). Thank you!

Business class seats were very dated on my plane. Very little storage, charging ports were not easily accessible, tv screen kept flopping away. Vegetarian food was disappointing: hardly any protein and severely under-seasoned. Crew was lovely.

The food was ok, but not great. They delayed boarding in Portland and did not enforce group boarding. But the crew was excellent, went above and beyond.

The food was pathetic. There wasn't much leg room and recline space for such a long flight. No tea/ coffee for a 2-3 hour connecting flight without purchasing! Really!?

Service was very good. Because I use a cane, I was allowed to use Priority Boarding. Biggest problem was extremely limited leg room in Economy class seats. For airplane food, it was alright.

Was late but that airport/storm fault. Flight was full but comfortable. Food quite nice. Unfortunate that I had a rather miserable attendant, others were much friendlier
