Cons: "1) not that alaska does any worse than others, but boarding is increasingly unpleasant. 5 grades of 'rewards' groups boards, then children, then military, then the elderly, etc. by the time people who paid full fair for their tickets board there's no overhead space left. by charging for any checked bags, the airlines are creating a very stressful and disorganized boarding experience; 2) the ambiance is just dull: cheesy music, dull, grey colors, poor lighting, etc. it just feels as if you're in a space designed by someone with no taste--and this is from the company that bought and killed virgin!? 3) the food is the same cheese plate and tapas plate i get on other airlines. 4) no special greeting upon boarding. it wouldn't take much to make the entire experience pleasant, but alaska and others don't feel the need to make the effort."

Reason for diversion - dubious."

We were each provided a $100 credit memo for future travel, but when we tried to reschedule our return trip to avoid LAX we were told the credit could only be used for new travel. Not happy about either the delay or the inability to use the $100 each credits. On top of that, we had to pay $400 rescheduling fees for the two tickets. That looks like a threefer to me. Pretty much sucks."

Especially with taking care of an 8 month of baby, sometimes you lose track of time. We missed the original flight even though we had asked the front desk agent to contact the gate to hold it for us for a few minutes. When we arrived at the gate, the ramp had already been retracted so we missed our flight. Next flight was the next day so we had to rent another rental car, another night's hotel totaling an extra $200 in Waikiki. At least they changed my flight without fees. But overall a bad experience."

When I made this known to the attendant, she left to check to see if they could move me, later returned to tell me that because I was already seated they couldn't move me, though I had made it known to her prior to taking my seat. Most Hawaiian flights have in flight movies and power ports, this particular flight had neither."

My husband got through his line 15min before I was finished in the other line. One line required iPads to be other, the other didn't. Something was seriously wrong with how things were being handled. Bathrooms onboard were a pigstie."

Cons: "When I purchased a meal there were elements missing. When I asked the flight attendant for the missing elements, she signed loudly and said "that means I'll have to open every single meal" which any intelligent person could tell you that's not true - just swap out the 1 meal. Then they lost my luggage and was told it would be delivered at my hotel and hour after I arrived. This was a lie and several times I called their hotline and each time I was told they didn't have a status. Then their hotline closed at 10p. I didn't get my luggage until 3am (which was 6am by my body's clock still on EST) and then had to go to a huge annual work event with no sleep, a headache, and nausea."

Cons: "The Five hour delay. Especially after we had paid $70 each to get on they earlier flight"

Cons: "Had a significant delay due to wind conditions in Chicago. However, instead of waiting at the gate, we waited over 45 minutes on the plane instead of letting us know about this additional delay prior to boarding. Also, the legroom was laughable, as the person in front of me hit my knees as soon as he began reclining."

Pros: "First class seating comfort and service. Even my flight in the main cabin was relatively comfortable, but I'm a smaller stature person so... On time promise kept every flight."

Pros: "The flight crew was nice and sweet for an early morning flight."
Cons: "We delayed in TUS on the runway and in LAX due to congestion at LAX. Nearly half of us had to sprint to make out connections. Luckily, LAX never launches planes on time. More a fault of LAX and it’s inefficiency than AA. Still annoying."

Pros: "Just about everything was wonderful. Flight crew was great, infotainment centers are always a plus, and the seats are better than I remember (don’t get excited, slightly)."
Cons: "This was considered an international flight, as we discovered when we were directed to the international terminal. It was also a 6 hour flight so... where was the food?! We could pay upwards of $10 for 3-4 options, none of which were 100% kid friendly. What’s up with that?"

Cons: "I remember reading that Aeroflot in Russia has better customer service than United Air Lines. Well, it was on full display today on our flight from LAX to Kona repleat with the veteran battle ax barking orders at passengers; “The Bathroom is by the blue curtaaaaaaiiiins!!!!!’ Poor victim seemed utterly humiliated. Seating is cramped, seats narrow and unsupportive and the old 757’s (c. 1997) entertainment system is ancient...the touch screens seemed unresponsive, but were in fact just slow...as 5-7 seconds would elapse between touching the screen and the command being implemented. A full re-boot was ordered about 30-45 minutes into the flight. As expected, there were some bumps in the air, but we welcommed them because it required the crew to sit down, freeing us of their ultra passive agressiveness."

Pros: "We arrived on time despite leaving 45 minutes late"
Cons: "LAX now buses people to the planes. We stood on the bus for 45 minutes and then drove for 10 minutes on an active taxi way. The crew for united just does not seem motivated anymore on any flight. Even in first class we were offered water only 2 on a 5 hour flight. The crew just sat in the front and looked at their phones. The food made me sick for two days - so it is better to just not eat it and bring your own. It is sad as I united used to be a great airline and now they just seem to focus on what new fee they can charge."

Cons: "United Airlines were curt and unhelpful. The refused to allow me to board my flight unless I arrived at least 1 hour before takeoff. There were 57min until takeoff after I checked in at the counter. I have a trusted traveler card and TSA express."

Cons: "No food on a 7 hour flight?? That comes close to torture in my book. Crossing a huge ocean = food you don't have to pay for, in my book."

Pros: "I was asleep in this flight & was not bothered during beverage service. This flight was only 2 & 1/2 hrs"

Pros: "The crew was friendly, and the flight time was an hour shorter than scheduled. But those are silver linings to real problems I encountered."
Cons: "This flight was actually from Denver to Kona. There was 1.5 hour delay due to mechanical issue with plane, so we had to switch gates and planes. That wasn't so bad. What made it bad was an extra 45 minute delay because apparently maintenance forgot to sign off on the new plane. Also, the space below the seat for my feet and carry-on was unacceptable. All the aisle seats like mine had only half the space of the window seats for their feet. If you're in an aisle seat on that plane, it's impossible to fit anything but the size of a small purse under the seat in front of you. And the middle seat fares only a bit better. Finally, with 7 hours of flight time plus about an hour waiting to depart from gate on plane, the crew ignorantly decided to hand out the Hawaii form to fill out within 2 minutes of preparing to land. Many people didn't have time to fill out the form before being required to put tray tables up. Fortunately, these forms aren't as serious as going thru customs, but it's stupid to pass out the forms that late into the flight expecting people to complete them."

Pros: "This airplane was older and it seemed there was more leg room than on other planes I've ridden on. I'm 5'11 and my husband is 6'4. This was really appreciated. Nice attendants. Boarding was orderly the different groups waited in rows. Older gentleman greeted us with Merry Christmas as he took our tickets. Overall nice feeling."

Cons: "It was SO hot on plane, I was miserable the whole flight. It started out with a delay on the tarmac due to the air conditioning not working. We had to wait for maintenance to fix that. That wasn’t a big deal to me. We didn’t have a connecting flight to catch, so we were understanding....things happen. The problem for me began when HOT air was blowing on my legs the WHOLE flight. I was miserable! They only had pizza for purchase which did NOT sound appetizing in that heat. It was a terribly long flight and I was so happy to land and get off!!"

Pros: "The boarding was fast and easy. The crew were friendly and accommodating. The entertainment was bring your own phone, tablet or computer to watch movies over wifi. We could not access our United account so we could not watch the movies, which was lame for a 5 hour flight. The food was also unpleasant as usual. You'd think a multimillion dollar airline could afford to feed people more than drinks and a cookie. What happened to the hospitality of the industry? If you came to my house for 5 hours and I gave you one cookie and a beverage maybe two you would think I was rude or down right cheap."

Cons: "Flight delayed 2 hrs, missed connection, had to spend day in limbo at DIA. Seats were rock hard on aircraft. I flew on UA because of the timing to my destination. 6 hours of travel time turned into a 13 hr experience. boo"

Cons: "Our flight arrived at LAX 20 minutes early so expected to get my connecting flight on time. Boy was I wrong, we sat inside the plane on the runway for over an hour. It was getting hot inside and people were getting upset about missing their connecting flights. We went around in circles on the runway, about 3 times. As people were getting agitated, so was the stewardess. Also people had to use the restroom, and the stewardess kept asking people to stay in there seats and she begin to lose her cool. What do you expect when your on the runway for over an hour. When people got to go, they got to go. So after finally arriving at the gate, "late" United did get me on another flight thru Alaska which was great. Will I fly United again, hmm I'm sure I will, One bad experience won't scratch them off my list, but I will choose other airlines first and United will be my last resort."
