We were pleasantly surprised by the legroom for the regular economy seats. We usually opt extra legroom because my husband is 6'4" but he was very comfortable on this flight. We fly often and on many different airlines, but Virgin always stands out for exceptional service, modern and clean planes (continuously attended to throughout the flight), better meals, friendly staff, extensive entertainment options...definitely one of the best overhaul international flights we've had.

The check-in procedure at Sydney Airport was a bit of a nightmare. Even the people who had checked in online had to wait in line (for 30 minutes-1 hour) to get boarding pass and check bags. We had carry-on bags only and still had to do this. I understand they need to recheck everyone's documents since the flight was headed to the US, but the available counters and process for moving customers along was very slow. Other than that, we had an excellent 5* star experience.

The Virgin Airline does a GREAT job of making flights "top notched!" We've flown both Virgin America & Virgin Australia and found both to be both comfortable and entertaining. The food was tasty and filling and came at good intervals. We loved the "free" wine served with our meals! Keep up the good work!

I'd like more choices in the music department. Some blues, light classicals, smooth jazz, etc.

regular meals, decent inflight programming

Service can be very erratic. On both long-haul CSA flights I took, attendants spoke poor English, which was surprising given the route. This is a perfectly OK airline for the price. You get what you pay for, in a way. But if anything drifts from the original plan, you're screwed. On Thurs Jan 4 we were diverted to Chicago due to bad weather. CSA has ZERO ground presence at Ohare. They gave us poorly-worded, vague instructions while still on board the aircraft for how to proceed once we disembarked-- and then their crew went off to hotels and rested, while most of the passengers stood stranded and confused in the airport terminal with NO assistance whatsoever. We were NEVER formally told when to reboard, or when our flight might take off again for JFK. We were NEVER told what kind of arrangements would be available for passengers to rest and recover-- and we landed around midnight, mind you. Passengers shared info with one another that they gleaned from 3rd party websites-- we all helped each other out, because CSA was useless. I recognize that it was an unusual situation due to extreme weather but it was indicative of the kind of customer service one can expect. Which is, not much.

Food was generally excellent. Entertainment good, but game choices limited, movies were censored for content.

1. Boarding and un-boarding should be by bridge, especially in sub-freezing weather! What is China Southern's problem with this? Every boarding/unboarding has always been by bus, and we had to be exposed to the elements. Since we were traveling between two warm places, we were not prepared to be out in freezing weather. 2. Layover in CAN was terrible: It was too long (10 hours); Guangzhou Baiyun had NO HEAT and so was very cold, too few charging stations, and very spotty wi-fi. I could not use my credit card in at least one place. At a McDonalds (probably a knock-off actually), the cashier was quite rude, allowing native Chinese customers to cut in line in front of me and unapologetic with their "no-credit-cards" policy. Customer service personnel need better training in international relations.

1. Uncomfortable boarding at CAN: Had to go out in the cold to ride a BUS to the airplane: Why can't they use a BRIDGE like everyone else? Since our first leg was from, and our lest leg was to, very warm places, we were not prepared for near-freezing conditions. 2. Loss of baggage, CAN to MNL, flight CZ3091, 1/1/18: The luggage which had our clothes was delayed. Worse, the over-ground delivery of said luggage took too long: one third of our stay in the Philippines. I knew we'd wear the same clothes for almost 24 hours straight, didn't expect to do so for three additional days.

Gate agent was fantastic! Her positive demeanor made for the delays and cancellations to not seem as much of an issue. She was extremely pleasant when explaining what was happening to flights, connections, etc. She was helpful when checking boarding passes to ensure that travellers were ok for their flight.

Again, last minute notification of delayed or cancelled flights made things somewhat worrisome. The late notification led to me missing my nest connection in Minneapolis, and having to sleep in the airport until the following morning in order to transfer my ticket to another flight leaving in the morning/afternoon/evening...very nerve-wracking to say the least.

The Cancun airport provides a terrible experience for transferring between flights, especially if you need to change from the international terminal to a domestic terminal or vice-versa. There is no way to get between terminals inside security and the free shuttle is slow and overcrowded. Meanwhile, one is forced to run a gauntlet of taxi and shuttle drivers trying to get you to pay them exorbitant fees to drive you to your terminal. Once you finally arrive you discover that there is no dedicated baggage recheck for an international arrival. Just don't buy a ticket that transfers in CUN.

During the international flight a lot was not healthy. The crew were disinterested in the work in economy class with the exception of a very helpful young man. The announcements couldn't be understood, the speakers crackled so much and the stewardesses spoke in very heavy accents. There was still debris from the previous flight in the seat holders. The entry into the plane smelt unfresh . The TV. Programming was limited and often did not work. Overall it was a flight that lacked international standards. The final flight to cape Town was excellent. I was going to write you a letter. We are capable of much higher standards and I felt ashamed. The international flight to Perth was better but the flight back from Perth was not good. Every flight should be welcoming and helpful. The attitude and involvement of flight crew makes or breaks the journey even if the craft is old and not perfect With regards eva young and trusting that this review canbe of help.

During the international flight a lot was not healthy. The crew were disinterested in the work in economy class with the exception of a very helpful young man. The announcements couldn't be understood, the speakers crackled so much and the stewardesses spoke in very heavy accents. There was still debris from the previous flight in the seat holders. The entry into the plane smelt unfresh . The TV. Programming was limited and often did not work. Overall it was a flight that lacked international standards. The final flight to cape Town was excellent. I was going to write you a letter. We are capable of much higher standards and I felt ashamed. The international flight to Perth was better but the flight back from Perth was not good. Every flight should be welcoming and helpful. The attitude and involvement of flight crew makes or breaks the journey even if the craft is old and not perfect With regards eva young and trusting that this review canbe of help.

Flying on Xmas and the crew was fun, dressed up and singing. I loved their energy. However when it was time to deplane their little singing number held up passengers from disembarking so that was annoying but I enjoyed it anyway :)

That they several meals to those who pre ordered them and did the entirel plane and then came back to do the regular drink/ cart service. This mean we went almost 2 hours without water because delivering meals took so long but also that the cart was in the aisle for an extra ordinary amount of time- which made getting up or bathroom trips almost impossible. I had to wait so long to use the lavatory I almost had an accident bc they were still doing service.

Since our first leg was from, and our lest leg was to, very warm places, we were not prepared for the sub-freezing conditions. 2. Horrible flight delay: JFK to CAN: Cancellation of flight CZ600, 12/31/17, followed by TEN-hour delay leaving JFK, was beyond traumatic. Airplane had to be fixed, but it should not have taken that long to find a solution. Passenger care was horrible: Initially we sat on the tarmac for 4 hours, then transferred to a waiting station with almost no heat and no access to rest rooms or food.

Nice crew.

This flight was full with many families with small children. The parents exercised almost no control over their rambunctious children. A gentlemen in my row turned around to request that the children seated behind him not bang and bump the back of his seat. After 3 such requests a fight almost broke out between adults. I’ve never experienced anything quite like this on a flight. I myself got no rest on the 3 hr flight to Cairns.

Passengers shared info with one another that they gleaned from 3rd party websites-- we all helped each other out, because CSA was useless. I recognize that it was an unusual situation due to extreme weather but it was indicative of the kind of customer service one can expect. Which is, not much.

1. Uncomfortable boarding at CAN: Had to go out in the cold to ride a BUS to the airplane: Why can't they use a BRIDGE like everyone else? Since our first leg was from, and our lest leg was to, very warm places, we were not prepared for near-freezing conditions. 2. Loss of baggage, CAN to MNL, flight CZ3091, 1/1/18: The luggage which had our clothes was delayed. Worse, the over-ground delivery of said luggage took too long: one third of our stay in the Philippines. I knew we'd wear the same clothes for almost 24 hours straight, didn't expect to do so for three additional days.

1. Boarding and un-boarding should be by bridge, especially in sub-freezing weather! What is China Southern's problem with this? Every boarding/unboarding has always been by bus, and we had to be exposed to the elements. Since we were traveling between two warm places, we were not prepared to be out in freezing weather. 2. Layover in CAN was terrible: It was too long (10 hours); Guangzhou Baiyun had NO HEAT and so was very cold, too few charging stations, and very spotty wi-fi. I could not use my credit card in at least one place. At a McDonalds (probably a knock-off actually), the cashier was quite rude, allowing native Chinese customers to cut in line in front of me and unapologetic with their "no-credit-cards" policy. Customer service personnel need better training in international relations.

Nice crew.

This flight was full with many families with small children. The parents exercised almost no control over their rambunctious children. A gentlemen in my row turned around to request that the children seated behind him not bang and bump the back of his seat. After 3 such requests a fight almost broke out between adults. I’ve never experienced anything quite like this on a flight. I myself got no rest on the 3 hr flight to Cairns.

The first. Captain flew brilliantly or however many there were

During the international flight a lot was not healthy. The crew were disinterested in the work in economy class with the exception of a very helpful young man. The announcements couldn't be understood, the speakers crackled so much and the stewardesses spoke in very heavy accents. There was still debris from the previous flight in the seat holders. The entry into the plane smelt unfresh . The TV. Programming was limited and often did not work. Overall it was a flight that lacked international standards. The final flight to cape Town was excellent. I was going to write you a letter. We are capable of much higher standards and I felt ashamed. The international flight to Perth was better but the flight back from Perth was not good. Every flight should be welcoming and helpful. The attitude and involvement of flight crew makes or breaks the journey even if the craft is old and not perfect With regards eva young and trusting that this review canbe of help.

We were pleasantly surprised by the legroom for the regular economy seats. We usually opt extra legroom because my husband is 6'4" but he was very comfortable on this flight. We fly often and on many different airlines, but Virgin always stands out for exceptional service, modern and clean planes (continuously attended to throughout the flight), better meals, friendly staff, extensive entertainment options...definitely one of the best overhaul international flights we've had.

The check-in procedure at Sydney Airport was a bit of a nightmare. Even the people who had checked in online had to wait in line (for 30 minutes-1 hour) to get boarding pass and check bags. We had carry-on bags only and still had to do this. I understand they need to recheck everyone's documents since the flight was headed to the US, but the available counters and process for moving customers along was very slow. Other than that, we had an excellent 5* star experience.

Seats were ok. Downloaded media for each seat was diverse and entertaining. Food was alright.

Crew was pretty curt and not polite. They also 'didn't have time' to load my bag onto the plane, along with ~15 other people. I had to wait two days for it to arrive. 'No time' to load bags is kind of an odd and slightly unacceptable reason to not load baggage onto a plane. Airlines close check-in for flights 30 mins before departure time to ensure that all bags make it onto the plane. I was 3 hours early. Don't know why they 'didn't have time'. They also broke my friend's bag.
