Pros: "It was my daughter's 16th birthday and one of the spunky crew members helped us to create a little celebration. That was very memorable! Otherwise the flight was late (which was OK, the captain kindly kept us informed), but the plane was clean and quiet. The bathrooms on the lower level provided a space to stretch, but as always, they get pretty dirty on a long-haul flight. Price was quite good. I always feel the flights originating from Europe are nicer than those originating in the US."

I appreciate the civility that still exists under stressful circumstances."

More than ten people were left behind - doors practically closed in our faces - and Lufthansa was wholly unhelpful in rescheduling flights. Lines to speak with agents were absurd and then attendants had to take breaks instead of resolve issues. There were no solutions offered, only poor communication and an unwillingness to accommodate a significant number of customers who were inconvenienced. Finally, a "random inspection" led to a handful of passengers being surveyed by the German local police. Interestingly, a number of us were Hispanic Americans. The whole experience was extremely negative."

"So much fun to be delayed 3.5 hours so you land at 12:12 a.m. CT and then discover there are planes stacked on the tarmac but no open gates. We’ve been sitting in a hot plane for 1:20 and have no estimate when we’ll get a gate. This was poor gate management by American Airlines and DFW. Every AA flight I am on of late has been problematic at best."

In general, AA could provide more accurate updates and boarding information for their flights. For example, if the inbound aircraft arrives at the time my flight should be boarding, I want to see an updated departure time, rather than maintaining the "on time" status right up until five minutes before the new boarding time. Generally it takes 25-30 minutes to turn the plane for the next outbound flight."

Very frustrating experience trying to check in, finally walker talkie a guy that new it was American. Frustrating I thought I would miss my flight, why not clearly state it's not an Alaska flight."

Cons: "Although a BA flight I had to pay AA charges for checked baggage. Agent at AA counter was trying to help by offering my bag as carry on. I paid the $100.00 charge as I am handy capped and did not want to wrestle extra weight. Under BA there should have been no charge but the AA counter staff acted ignorant of that fact. Not sure why I am telling you this as I expect nothing will be done by anyone."

Pros: "This JAL flight was actually operated by american airlines using an american airlines plane. This flight was not great compared to the JAL flight we took to Haneda which was actually a JAL plane which was roomier and had pretty good food."

Last time, on my return flight home from Phoenix, I was forced to pay $250 for my long sports bag, even though the tag to get there was still on it and my receipt showed that it was the standard fare and was bluntly told the other attendant 'didn't do their job.' This time, after my travel mate already checked in and payed for two bags, when we brought the bags to the counter to drop off, we asked for future reference what the procedure was for AAdvantage card holders to get their first bag checked free. Her response was that she couldn't refund our money. I told her I wasn't asking for a refund and repeated my question - how to do it in the future, to which she responded that we should have come straight to the counter without checking in but all accounts are different and she had no idea what his was. To her credit, she did warm up after that, perhaps she heard how abrupt and unhelpful she was being but it was unfortunate to start yet another airport experience with coldness at American Airlines"

AA was very inflexible about the storm and wouldn't allow me to change my flight unless I wanted to fly within a matter of days. Which was impossible for me. It would have cost me more than my original ticket costs just to change the date. Absolutely absurd costumer service in the wake of a natural disaster and I will not be booking with them in the future."

"This flight was a mess. For almost 6 hours, we were told conflicting information from the pilot, crew, members stationed at the gate and United members online and at the service desk. We had multiple technical difficulties that were communicated to us falsely or extremely late, leaving the passengers in a state of constant chaos. We boarded our flight after a heavy delay, then we were told by the pilot that we could not fly and deplaned. Dozens and dozens of people were sent across the entire gate to the customer service center that was no help for over an hour before finally telling us our flight was still leaving and stationed at a new gate. At this point, we were all unsure who to trust but went to the then empty gate, all very exhausted and frustrated. We finally left almost 2 hours later, arriving hours after our scheduled arrival. The first meal options contained both wheat, something I was unable to previously able to request special meals from the airline, and the ice cream was completely melted. Breakfast 6 hours later was also lackluster, containing only cookie briskets and a small Jogurt."

I was told that with Layover I would receive my check in bag for Hotel stay. the attendant took a discription of my luggage for other united employees to tell me it would take 3 hours to retrieve my luggage. They didn’t even try to look for it or help me. Then what’s the point of taking my discription down? Now I have to stay at a hotel with nothing on me. So ridiculous and rude."

Cons: "They boarded us in spite of the fact that the flight had been delayed 40 minutes. We were all getting alerts on our phones but were told to disregard it and board anyway. We then had to sit on the runway for 40+ minutes until we could take off. Since we were traveling with two small children, it would have been preferable to spend those extra 40 minutes in the terminal rather than on the plane."

Kayak referred me to Swiss Air's website rather than United's. The whole check-in process was a convoluted mess when I've never had any issue with other airlines. I'm a slender guy with broad shoulders and the middle seat felt very crowded when surrounded by medium build people. Didn't manage to sleep a bit on an 8 hr red-eye flight."

This is clearly something I couldn’t do anything about. kayak allowed me to book a flight and expect that no matter the number of carriers, there should not be an issue tying the connection with the other flight at the time of check-in. Because of the delay, my husband and I sat apart on am 8 hour flight and because we both were assigned middle seats, no one wanted to sswitch with us. The check in staff was very unfriendly and seemed stressed and overworked. United needs to ramp up on resources quick. The flight crew were very unpleasant. It was just the worst of all flights."

Pros: "The crew was the most polite, calm and reassuring crew I've ever come across. When faced with the mounting frustrations of a cabin full of delayed passengers, these guys were smooth as silk. Bravo!"
Cons: "Being grounded due to weather is unfortunate, but the team did so well in managing expectations, it's hard to be mad."

Cons: "Unfortantely their was a mechanical problem that delayed the flight. I understand that failures occur, but only having one mechanic available to work this problem is not good. What happend to the two person concept when working on critical aircraft systems? Pretty hard landing at Chicago."

Cons: "The boarding process is an absurdly disorganized, terrible process. Don't encourage people to line up if there is no room in the terminal for them to do so. Food was also pathetic, especially compared to European competitors on the same route."
