FAQs for booking flights from Burbank to Miami

  • How can I avoid paying extra for my boarding pass?

Check in online before the departure date and print your digital boarding pass with Spirit Airline to save time and money. Or choose the email boarding pass and show the TSA agent at Bob Hope Airport (BUR) from your smartphone. Otherwise, waiting until you get to the airport to print will cost you plus a bigger surcharge for every pass printed at the Spirit Airlines counter.

  • What are the easiest ways to upgrade my flight class?

Obtaining elite status with an airline is your best bet for free flight upgrades. A Medallion status with Delta gives you unlimited complimentary upgrades. If you have subscribed to SkyMiles, use your miles to switch your flight class, and be sure to call the airline's hotline to confirm. Even as a non-elite member, American Airlines lets you upgrade to the front seats by redeeming your AAdvantage miles.

  • Which is the most favorable airline for military personnel on this route?

If you are an active-duty military, a veteran, or a DoD civilian, you can save 10% on your flight price whenever you fly with American Airlines from Burbank to Miami. The discount also applies to your family members courtesy of VetRewards, part of the Veteran Advantage program.

  • What are the restrictions for flying with baby strollers?

The rules regarding strollers on airplanes vary from airline to airline. United Airlines allows a standard stroller (up to 20 lbs) to be checked for free at the gate or ticket counter. A collapsible stroller will be stored in-cabin. Before you bring a compact stroller, check whether they permit your brand on their website.

KAYAK’s top tips for finding a cheap flight from Burbank to Miami

  • Most flights between Hollywood Burbank Airport/Bob Hope (BUR) and Miami International Airport (MIA) have a single stopover: Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), or Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). A few flights connect via San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Sometimes, you can expect two stopovers at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and Charlotte Douglas Airport (CLT); or PHX and DFW.
  • The standard seats on an ultra-budget airline like Spirit Airlines, which offers unbundled fares, tend to be small. We recommend upgrading to a Big Front Seat (18.5-inch width, 36-inch pitch) in the first two rows, configured in a 2-2 pattern instead of a 3-3 economy setup. Most of their aircraft provide eight Big Front Seats while the Airbus A319-100 boasts ten – all available for booking at an extra fee.
  • Enjoy a bit of luxury at Delta SkyClub lounges during a stopover at DFW (Terminal E at security checkpoint, between Gates E10-E11). A single-day pass is available for purchase with miles, cash, or American Express card. Also, use Delta's SkyClub pass upon arrival at MIA airport inside Concourse H. SkyClub restrooms have towels, shampoos, and hair dryers. Order food, relax with a glass of wine or beer at the SkyClub Miami bar, enjoy a Starbucks cappuccino, or use an espresso machine.
  • Claim a reduced-price ticket for bringing a companion on your BUR-MIA flight with American Airlines. It is a more budget-friendlier way to travel with your partner than paying regular fare. If you have already earned the American Airlines Companion Certificate, you will only pay taxes and other optional fees on this route.
  • Southwest Airlines neither has flight classes nor assigns seats, so the sooner you complete your check-in, the better your boarding will be. To board sooner than regular passengers and families, but right after the elite members, reserve EarlyBird Check-In at a reasonable additional cost. You will be placed on an aisle seat or near the window.

Over a 3 hour flight. The turbulence was almost imperceptible except for 2 short periods which were not bad and over quickly. The attendants claimed "Safety first" and sat looking at their phones for 3 hours with no drink or snack service. This isn't the first time with Southwest. I thinkit may be there new plan of operation. Oh, and it was June 18, Southwest's Birthday which offered free drinks. NOT.

The flight was okay. The pilots did an amazing job and kept us updated on the flight. The flight attendants were okay. They found time to be chatty with each other rather than focus on the guests. One of the attendants was a little less warm when asking about my bag I had on my lap that I was using during latter part of the mid- flight. Mind you, it was not the departure descent. I’m respectful to each and every attendant, it was the tone in her voice reminding me to place my carryon bag on the floor. I hope to have a better experience next time.

Terrible. Even though there’s assigned seating now, they are still the slowest boarding airline of anyone.

It was canceled. Supposedly weather. But there was no snow in Baltimore. At least we found out before driving to airport

Okay, not wonderful. Short flight. Wi-fi didn't work properly. Stuck waiting for a gate to open upon arrival for 20 or so minutes.

They sent a notice that they were boarding an hour early. We had to leave the club and run to the gate. They said sorry, that came from corporate and was a mistake. They did not have enough seating because the flight before it had not taken off on time. They moved our gate and delayed it for an hour.

The quality of Southwest Airlines continues to degrade each time I fly with them. If it were not for the free luggage, I would probably choose another airline. Their prices are a little bit competitive, but way too high for the quality of the service. Southwest is not unique in this way. Domestic flight in the United States of America has continued to be a lower and lower quality product. Very sad when you compare the quality of domestic airlines to that of many international airlines around the world.

I'm not a fan of Southwest's model. I don't like the herding style of boarding.

I boarded last because of my boarding assignment and was given a middle seat at the back of the plane. I’m 6”1” so it was really tight. I wish I just had a seat assignment instead of a general boarding group. My bag was way at the front and my seat at the back. Was never offered a beverage and had no room to move.

Any type of entertainment option would be nice. Would like power options for charging devices

Overall Good! The weather delayed our takeoff from Atlanta and our arrival in Miami! If Mother Nature can mess up a flight she will do it every time!

Snacks and included beverages were appreciated. Boarding went smoothly. Plenty of overhead bin space. Seats get very uncomfortable after a couple of hours. After waiting 10 painful minutes for my walker, a very nice Delta guest agent pushed me in a wheelchair to the gate. It was finally delivered to me after another 15 minutes . Our checked bag was on the carousel long b4 I was able to retrieve it. Fortunately it was still there but somewhere along the way the straps we used to secure it were removed and and were not reattached. Wish I had made note of the agents name.

Original flight was cancelled and when i was rebooked by the airline, they couldn't seat me in the same type of seat as I had originally booked (went from window/aisle to middle/middle and one was a bulkhead seat, and other wasn't in the same class)

I truly love flying with Delta. They have always treated me with the upmost respect

I am very bothered by the events today. I can't believe the flight attendants allowed someone to take my seat and made me move. It was embarrassing. I was in the right. The lady just didn't want move. I can't believe delta would allow this to stand and disrespect my rights as a passenger. The lady complained about her leg and that she couldn't move. Firstly somehow she was able to make it to row 24. Not sure how much her leg could have hurt. Secondly, I'm in plenty of pain myself. I just finished chemotherapy a several weeks ago. My body is constantly sore. Yet deltas flight attendants didn't appropriately protect my rights. In the end they found me a seat on the plane but I want to understand how delta can operate this way. They in essence allowed a bully to get their way.

Loyal Delta traveler, but last nights flight was a train wreck. Seated in 1B after multiple delays. Then we couldn’t takeoff because of an issue with the passenger that was ‘not in compliance’ and had to deplane along with the threat if they did not deplane, all the passengers would be required to do so. Finally they were escorted off, but the experience threw off the crew. Disruptive for everyone. Service was a mess, televisions didn’t work, bathroom door kept swinging open during the entire flight whenever empty …

My flight was cancelled twice and the third time I tried to rebook it online I cancelled the flight because it looked like I would get a refund to my credit card. Instead I now have a credit. I was also on hold for three hours waiting for a representative and then disconnected. I will never fly delta again.

First time travel in economy and the worst experience I ever had ! Shame on paying 600 dollars to be in a tuna can ! Service was terrible no even water no even class no even matters your flight attendants were lazy and sloppy very bad experience! After all these years traveling in first and once I try this cause I need to go to a destination for an emergency wow shame on you !

The Delta flight was delayed for maintenance issue. The crew is also delayed and I’ve been there at the same time as I was so it was really outside the hands of crew directly. However, where Delta failed was there was about eight other ways for me to get to my final destination and they did not offer changes beyond the initial one. The flight was delayed five hours when they had to change my connecting flight they had to downgrade my premium class for so far zero compensation and I’m still waiting on the results of a formal complaint. All in all this was the worst experience I’ve had with Delta in quite some time. Carrying the review for my first light over to this one, I was downgraded a class and because of my status I’ve only flown comfort plus or higher in some years I was unaware of things like drink vouchers, or anything like that, as far as I knew drinks were complimentary. The attendant was unnecessarily nasty towards me when I was just asking her to explain how it works and I showed her my first class ticket even though I was in the back of the plane and she was still equally unhelpful and frustrated. I’m not saying that the first class ticket should allow better treatment. I’m saying that I was showing that normally I would’ve had it for free beverage and so I didn’t know what she was talking about, she didn’t need to be so frustrated. Outside of that if the flight was 2 1/2 hours and the snack and beverage options did not become available until the final 30 minutes of the flight when we were on the descent, so any snacks and drinks were quickly rushed away. I do not know if this is common for what main cabin normally experiences but I hope it isn’t because that level of customer service and tending to the needs of the passengers is below what I would call essential.

I was flying from nyc jfk home to Miami and I used a flight credit from delta since they destroyed my bag earlier that year. On this return flight I landed retrieved my bag and noticed when I got home that delta ripped a hole in my bag and got one of my belongings caught up wrapped around the wheel of my Tumi bag!!! Oh and now their policy says they won’t replace it.

Lost one piece of luggage even though I checked in 2.5 hours before the flight

Left an hour and a half after the listed time. Up side was it had TV screens on the seat.

I couldn’t make my first flight due to weather delays trapping us in the town we were in. Then I had to buy a new ticket

I was supposed to be on business class at first class from Denver back to Miami due to weather changes. I missed my connection and it’s put on a flight to Fort Lauderdale. Instead of honoring my business class/1st class ticket, they put me in coach, but there were two first class seats open. I think it’s absolutely disgusting that I paid for first class $1300 ticket and they put me in economy and they had to open seats available and I have still not been refunded the difference. I ended up having to eat a snack box instead of the meal I was supposed to get and did not get home till 2 AM so I think that’s a little pathetic that I had to live off crackers for dinner And my poor dog ate some cheese and salami. Oh yes, apparently when they switched me to the new flight they forgot to mention I had a service dog

Maybe add a seat trade app for flyers that didn’t get seats together

No water on the toilets, dirty sits. 4 hours delayed departure.

I liked everything about the flight. The service was excellent!

Good boarding. Crew started quick with drinks and food. They came around several times for trash which I really liked. Other than turbulence due to storms in the area, flight was great.

Crew and snacks were great. It’s nice to have free wifi for entertainment, but there wasn’t anywhere to place my phone (ie Alaska Airlines). Also the gate was right next to another that was boarding at the same time, so it was difficult to tell where the line for our flight was. Also, they didn’t have a speaker system and had to yell for different groups. Had I not gotten a text that the flight was boarding, we might have missed the flight.

On long flights with semi-comfortable seats the airline needs to accommodate for the need to stand up. Otherwise a fight becomes pure torture. Not even business class provides for that.

Was not able to do a online check-in because the American Airlines system doesn't store our visa or other passport information, allowing us to have a trouble-free check-in. We were forced to have to check-in at the counter which Changes are upgrade status given that we were not able to check in much earlier.

The flight was really crowded. Flight attendants were just ok.

It was a red eye flight, so no meals were provided, but it was fine with snacks. The seats felt cramped and almost too narrow.

While waiting to claim my checked luggage, I discovered the airline had lost it. After a long wait and inquiries, I discovered it was on another flight. Fortunately, the airline finally sent my luggage home.

It was the worst experience ever. Cabin temperature cold, for which they did not have any blankets upon my asking. We paid $125 extra for each passenger to get extra space sits; the sits were ridiculously small, tight, and uncomfortable! The flight attendant dropped ice on me and my sister! All in all, American Airlines deserves below zero!

The inability to be flexible when you need to change a Basic Economy flight, when your company demands you book through a third party, causes raw feelings about the whole experience. A major airline should realize business and personal plans change all the time. I must save my company money on travel. Even if you have to charge me for the change, I get it. But being so rigid with a policy is not the best customer service.

We are gluten free, there were not any available complimentary gluten free options.

No meal on a cross country flight? SFO-MiA is pretty much the definition of a coast to coast flight. No meal provided. Sky high wi-fi rates too. Stop nickel and diming your customers.

Everything was very good EXCEPT the food, on a five and a half hour trip. They only gave to us was snacks in first class. They didn't give us pillows or blankets.

Crew was nice and accommodating, but someone failed to inspect the plane before the passengers got on and we ended up deplaning and changing planes when this could have been avoided.
